I was told not to pay attention to the paperwork they send, only to phone conversations. Asked to speak to a manager and was told there was nobody else in the call center. Charged back fees without telling me to collect late charges on it. They will not try to resilve issues, just argue and make up charges.

I been paying on this truck for the last 5 years- I was told by this Company that the first 3 years I was paying interest that should have finish some time ago- I should just be paying off the truck now. looks like the $460.14 I pay every month they are still taking interest this is crazy I need to finish paying this off- won't be financing anything from this Company any more. I need to know how much had I paid on the truck ? Every time I've asked no one can give me an answer I need someone to call me or I will hire an Attorney and explain to him what is going on with this Company. I should only have 2 years more to go with this Company. Please mail me a list of all my payments and interest. You have my number please have upper management contact me . Thank you,*** XXX-XXX-XXXX

RE: Revdex.com Case No.: XXXXXXXX
Santander Account No.: ***

Dear Ms. ***

We have received your complaint submitted through the Revdex.com (Revdex.com), regarding your Santander Consumer USA Inc. (Santander) account. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns.

Our records show that you entered into a Retail Installment Contract (Contract), dated August 4, 2012, in connection with the purchase of a 2011 Jeep Compass *** The amount financed was $16,909.79 at an annual percentage rate of 24.99%. The payment schedule called for 72 monthly payments of $460.14, beginning on September 18, 2012. The Total of Payments was $33,130.08, which is the amount you would have paid if all payments had been made according to the schedule set forth in the Contract. The Contract was assigned to Santander.

After a thorough review of the account, we have determined that the reduction of the principal balance is accurate. In the agreed upon auto finance contract, it shows that the account is calculated using the Simple Interest Method. This means the balance accrues interest on a daily basis and assumes the customer will make their payment on the regularly scheduled payment due date.
When a payment is received, the outstanding accrued interest must be satisfied first, and the remainder of the payment is applied toward the principal and/or fees on the account. The amount of interest accrued can vary based on the amount of the principal balance and the number of days between payments. Please note that, as daily accrued interest is based on the principal balance, interest is generally higher at the beginning of the account term and decreases as the principal balance decreases.
Over the life of the account, you requested and were granted a total of 8 monthly payment extensions and one due date change. Additionally, payments were submitted late to the account, of which, 37 were paid more than 10 days late, which caused late fees of $850.21 to be assessed to the account. In addition, in some months, partial payments were received, which were less than the contracted monthly amount of $460.14.
Due to the payment assistance and payment pattern, more interest accrued between payments, causing the principal balance to reduce more slowly. If payments had been submitted in a timely manner, according to the contracted payment schedule, the principal balance would have been less.
Please note however, if an account reaches the end of the account term, and there is a remaining balance on the account, as long as the customer continues to make their regular monthly payments, Santander will continue to advance the due date an additional month with each payment. This is so that the customer does not have to make one large payment at the end of the account term to cover any unpaid principal.
As of the date of this letter, the principal balance on the account is $11,838.62 which does not include accrued interest or any fees on the account. Outstanding fees on the account total $632.90 for late fees.
Enclosed you will find a copies of the Contract and payment history which indicates all payments received and the account balance.

Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. If further assistance is needed or additional information can be provided regarding this matter, you *** contact us directly at X (XXX) XXX***

We paid off our car months ago and still no title! We can't even speak to anyone at their 1800 number because they closed our account; they keep transferring us from department to department. This is thievery at its finest! How can a company get away with this?

I really can't say too many bad things about Santander, despite what many other bad reviews people have posted. I applied to finance a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited from a dealer for $7500 in July 2017. I was approved with for a $5000 loan with a $167.63 monthly payment, and a down payment of $2500 and credit score in the low 500's. The APR was horrible (24.99%), but I knew exactly what I was getting before I signed. Since my loan was a simple-interest loan, this meant that I would not have the opportunity to refinance with Santander (yes, I did call and check with them first). I made all payments on time for the next year and two months, all the while growing my credit with the same loan. I hated knowing that the interest was eating up each month's payment (especially since I was only paying the minimum), but I waited until I felt my credit had improved enough to refinance as a member with a credit union offered through my employer. Bottom line, know what you can afford before you're tempted by the "candy in the window" trick at the dealership, make your payments on time and you should be fine. Santander does offer a one-time payment date change (up to 30 days from the original due date of the monthly payment), but you need to communicate with them before you become late or miss a payment. Although they certainly would not be my first choice, if need be, I would finance again through Santander.

I traded in my car in the year of 2016 due to a financial situation and my current car's reliability. I was in a hard spot and needed a new car immediately. I was approved for a car loan with Santander Consumer USA, with them approving me for $16,000 with very little credit, no co-signer, and no down payment. I knew this was a bad idea but I had a plan to refinance with my Credit Union in good time. Meanwhile, I had to pay $440/mo with a 26.97% APR. Wow, was I naive! And they knew this, and took advantage of it to their fullest. Here I am, 40,000 miles later, the re-sale value recently dropped, I'm screwed. Over the past two years I have worked extremely hard to secure a stable income and raise my credit, all while having to share my car due to family financials and putting on double the miles. I called Santander Consumer USA to finally ask to re-evalute the terms of my loan and refinance within the company, due to having a higher house-hold income and much better credit history/score. They would not even consider my request. 4 out of 30 payments have gone to the principal of this car. This is my only option at this point. No other bank, financial institution, loan company will even CONSIDER refinancing with me. I figured after being a loyal customer and paying A BUNCH OF MONEY IN INTEREST they would have a reasonable outlook on how much they should or should not use their customers for their money, robbing them blind. Of course not. I don't know what I was thinking working so hard for this company. I don't know why I have given them my hard earned money. No person deserves to be treated like this. This is down right shameful.

This place makes me sick. I bought a Chevy Spark in 2016. I was current with payments. I went to file bankruptcy and my attorney told me to file chapter 13 so I could pay my creditors. I said fine. Well my case got dismissed back in July 2018. Santander has sent a tow truck over to my apartment complex along with the police. They said I need to come up with over $800 in order to keep the car. I said you just received a check in August 1st. The bankruptcy court sent a check for $627. However I am still 166 days past due, which my money had stopped coming out for 2 months and they didn't get their payment. Which the courts notified them and they didn't dispute. They haven't cashed the check yet but I bet when they pick up the car they will somehow find it and cash it. In the mean time I still have my car, knock on wood. I will never do business with this company again. I would think they would want to work with me so I can keep my car and they get money. They are a bunch of foreigners too. They don't care. Wish they would close

I had a wreck in February 2018. I was immediately in contact with Chrysler Capital to advise of the accident. After finally getting a check from my insurance company in *** and realizing that it had Chrysler Capital also listed, since they are my current lien holder. I called Chrysler Capital to determine what was needed and how to go about getting the repairs done. I was told initial by the rep that I would have to send the check to Chrysler Capital and have the repair shop to send them a W9, pictures and a completed invoice for the repairs. I contacted several mechanic shops and they all refused to work directly with the insurance/ or Lein holder. I called Chrysler Capital again and asked what I needed to do if I paid out of pocket. They advised me, the repair company would still need to send the W-9, pictures and a receipt showing I paid. I asked if I could send these items and was told ," No because, we cant just take your word for it." After several more phone calls and being told at least 10 different things I was finally directed to s/w the insurance department, in which they immediately asked " Where is the check?" They made me feel as if it was their money and I was keeping it. I called so many times and was constantly being told different things each time. I finally asked, once I paid for repairs, how long before I receive the check back, they advised they would overnight the check. On August 9th I received my vehicle back from the repair shop with repairs completed. I paid cash. I called Chrysler and asked , again what did I need to send to them. they advised just a receipt and the initial estimate. I sent the requested info..only to be told 3 days later, that was not what they needed. I again asked and was told. I sent Again what they asked and was told it was being processed. Only to find out again 3 days later that something was missing from the receipt. I don't understand how I was not informed at one time what was all needed to get this done. I was promised a call back, never happened. I was promised one thing after another. I was hit by someone in a stolen vehicle, and then I feel my lien holder hit me again. I felt like a victim all over again. After finally confirming the repairs and that I paid, I s/w a rep, she verified my address in which the check should go to...and that it would be over knighted. After 2 days of not having the check I called again and was told my check went to the repair shop. After me, yelling and getting upset, they confirmed the check went to my Moms address. She is the primary on the account, however, they are very aware that this is my car, my address is different and where the vehicle is housed is different. my Mom was out of town and neither of us were aware that the check was going to her house. After my Mom returned from out of town, she found the check wedged in her door in a FedEx envelope..with ONLY her name on it. my name was no where on the check. the original insurance check was sent to me , at my address. I am so furious with this whole situation. On top of that I advised them that I could not pay for repairs and pay my care note, that I needed the check to pay my car note. I have late fees and I am not a happy camper. First chance I get I will refinance with someone else.

Every month there is some kind of issue. To begin with we were not notified that the loan had been transferred to them and we started out with 2 payments due. Last month after trying to get it resolved for several months, we were above to get it back to 1 month payment and the doubled on put at the end of the loan. Then I sent paperwork for automatic payment and they did get it so now there is another late payment due! The website to make payments and manage profile is difficult to navigate. The phone numbers were wrong, the address was wrong.....just frustrating every month.

I sent the automatic payment paperwork again and it had better happen correctly this time. Somehow we have to get away from this company!

Absolutely criminal. I should have checked their reviews before I got the loan, but I was in a bind and had no time to do any research. If I had understood the ramifications of doing business with them, I would have never. They are scammers.
