Refund owed, yet continued collection calls, failure to provide an accounting
I leased a Jeep Rengade in 2016. The lease ended in April of 2019, the last payment being due in March (I was not told this until this month, having earlier been told that my least payment was due in February as outlined more fully below). The last lease payment I made was on February 22, 2019. I returned the car to the dealership in March.
I did call in March and asked when my last payment would be due. They said my account was up to date and that I needn't pay another lease payment. I assumed I had been paying prospectively. I did not make a March payment.
On April 26 I made an a payment of $850 in error. I meant to pay another vendor (Chase) when paying through my Bank's online account and clicked (Chrysler) . Before I was even aware that this error had occurred I begin to get collection calls about owing money to Chrysler Capital. Naturally I contacted customer service and via a discussion with "Laura" was told that I was owed $742. I was also told that this time that it could take until July. I was willing to wait except that throughout the month of May and into June I continued to get calls about my account being in arrears. Each time I called back, explained the situation and was assured that the money was owed ME and that it was coming.
In mid June I was called and told that I owed $650. I was asked to speak to a Manager. (I do not have a record of her name.). I explained the situation and that I understood I was to receive a credit. She told me someone would call me within 72 hours. Since then I have been had a number of calls with a Ms. She has asked for and received bank statements and has given them to the accounting department and asked me to wait. A number of times. She has been patient and is obviously trying to work things out but no resolution is forth coming. I am still receiving collection calls. It's as if there is no internal communication about this dispute.
The problem may be this: Ms. explained that someone else's payment had been incorrectly applied to my account on or about the month of February. MY February payment (made on February 22) was therefore deemed "overage" and put into what I gather is a communal account - not mine, although every single check I sent had my name and account number on it. In other words, I am being told that they took my money and don't apply it to my account although it's clearly marked as such. (From what I have been told they did the same to the payment of $850 that was made in error.) I don't know if this practice is actually occurring, it seems unbelievable, but that's what Ms. told me, or at least what I understood. Clearly they haven't applied either the February or the 850 payment to my account so it seems plausible. I gave them bank statements showing my payments. What's strange is that early on customer service DID seem to be aware of these payments because " Laura" and 2 other customer services representatives told me that I would receive a credit.
At some point the error was discovered and the person that paid my account in error was refunded his money from my account. My account then had a shortfall (they didn't apply the February 22nd monies I sent. Nor did they apply the $850.) I did apparently owe a March payment but since I was told that my account was up to date, I was unaware of this. In any event, the $850 would more than cover the payment. My monthly lease payment was $346. They have never disputed that I paid all lease payments on time until the February payment.
The matter remains under "investigation" and I get continued collection calls. I believe I am owed money but I have no accounting. I am worried about my credit.

Our records indicate that on February 11, 2019 a payment for another account, in the amount of $641.88, was applied to your account in error. The error was discovered on June 24, 2019 and the payment was reversed from the account. This payment reversal caused $641.88 to be due on the account after the vehicle associated with the account was grounded on March 27, 2019, along with fees owed in the amount of $115.29 and the disposition fee in the amount of $395.00.
After the reversal, our records show that the payment in the amount of $346.00 was located on *** 7, 2019, and applied to the account with an effective date of February 22, 2019. Out of that payment, a partial payment totaling $66.29 was applied to the amount due February 28, 2019.
Our records further indicate that your payment dated April 27, 2019, in the amount of $850.00, was located and posted to the account on June 24, 2019. This payment was applied to the remainder owed for February 2019 and the payment due for March 2019. It was also applied to fees owed in the amount of $115.29. After the payment was applied, an overage remained on the account in the amount of $92.83, which was sent to you in the form of a debit card from WireCard Services. If you have not received the refund debit card or require further assistance with the debit card, please contact Wirecard Customer Service directly at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.
Due to the inconvenience that you experienced with the payments on the account and as a courtesy, on June 24, 2019 the disposition fee of $395.00, which had already been paid, was waived on the account. A refund for the disposition fee, in the amount of $395.00, was sent to you via FedEx Tracking No.: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. We have confirmed that the FedEx package was delivered on July 1, 2019 and that the check has been cashed.
Please note the account is closed and reflects a zero balance and is not subject to collection.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act states that we are required to accurately report all account information to the credit bureaus. Please note that we provide account information to the four major credit reporting agencies - Experian, Equifax, Transunion, and Innovis. It may be necessary to contact the agencies directly regarding any disparity between reports.

Terrible!!! Was in a bind like everyone else and had to accept Santander. Was repo'ed back in 2017 and the kids going back And forth bout reinstating the car and the repo company not receiving anything from the finance company to release the car once I paid everything out. Now bring me to the present, been paying on time and there seems to be extra charges that cannot be explained to me! I'm Dumping so much money on interest and unexplainable fees and now the *** engine blew out so I can't even drive it! I'm about to call them and tell them to come pick it up voluntarily this time!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SANTANDER!!! I will be consulting an attorney!!!
Absolutely horrible. Every person you talk to gives you a different sorry about what type of payments they accept. The demand payment in full before the note is at term if you are late. Stay away the crooked. Unhelpful. Incompetent.

This company calls me everyday and now failed to credit my account for any of my payments made in the month of April & blocked me from my online account, so I can't see my payments that I have made on my truck. This company has threatened to repossess my truck illegally and I have stress migraines from them now. I lose sleep at night watching my truck in case they try to take it illegally. They sent me a bill on the 8th of May when my bill isn't supposed to be generated until the 28th of each month and it was wrong, but I can't access my account with them online because they blocked me. So I have no record of payments other than bank statements. That's not legal.
I want access to online account so I can see my account activity and payments made and I want my bill to reflect the payments made for April. I should only owe $575 not $1712.59

Can I give 0 stars? Santander Consumer Credit repossessed my vehicle after they declined several payments (the money was in my checking account to cover the payments). I went that day and refinanced the vehicle through my local back for lower interest, 60 months instead of 72 months and I have a payment almost half of what I was paying. Now fast forward...the payment was sent overnight by my bank to pay off Santander. They have received the payment but have not posted to my account yet so they are refusing to release my vehicle to me! One person I spoke with said it can take up to 18 days! Do NOT do business with Santander. They are CROOKS! The holding lot that they have sent my vehicle to is only open until 2pm Monday through Friday. I have done my part and paid them off yet I can't get my vehicle until they say I can. I need my vehicle so I can return to work.

I have paid just a little over 7K for this 2012 Mazda CX7. The price was 15k and change when Santander loaned in 2015. Now I owe 14K BIG DEAL
They extended my loan. I kept telling them I need to change my due date. they said they do that one time. I have had over 20 calls concerning this being late they will not change the date. I would not be here if that would change the date they called to tell me Bad news she said, We can not change due date. DUH!!! I said if you change it I will not have any late fees. Those show up on credit history They did pay ther late fees I was told to pay the monthly due. It does not make sence . I did not change my due date. They will not tell me when the date supposdly was changed. In the mean time I have been asked for my license number several times. I have received assignment letters they call me twice a day and send me statements twice a week.

I contacted them about getting payments current and the day before I was to make the payment they repossessed the vehicle. I was caller number 87 before noon eastern time to the repo department of their company. When I finally got to speak to someone I was told that the person who made the arrangement with me was supposed to get a post dated check to hold and since she didn't they took the car. Now how am I supposed to know that? If they don't have someone who knows what they are doing, how is that my fault. Then they wanted $1500 to get it back after only having it for one day. That wasn't going to happen. Then a week later I get a letter stating they can help me make arrangement s to get current so when I call they tell me they can't since it was taken, but the letter was dated four days after they took it. One department had no idea what the others are doing and this company is worthless. I wouldn't recommend them for ANYTHING!!!!!!!
