I paid off my car June 5,2020. I received my lien release without it being notarized! Making it a non legal document. I called and was transferred 4 times and finally spoke to the supervisor of the titles department said that it would be emailed Friday 8/21/2020 by end of business day and it still was not sent. I still do not have a legal lien release for my vehicle.
Account services called me today my payment was due 8/13 today is only 8/17 I have a 15 day grace period before late charges are applied. I have been off work due to having COVID. I didn't ask for any kind of help and the lady I spoke to was very rude and inconsiderate. I tried to tell her I'd have my payment this week but she wasn't into listening to my conversation! Very rude and am very disappointed in the way I got treated! She kept asking me the same questions like I was stupid!!! Very unsatisfied customer!!!
BUYER BEWARE
***
1st scenario: During the first year, fell ill and lost my job so I filed for an extension which pushes the unpaid months to the back of the loan therefore extending the expected payoff date. The representative I initially filed with was kind but screwed the process up with the dates of the extension causing the extension to only be good for 2 months instead of the 3 we discussed & verbally agreed upon. And this caused my payments to fall behind without me knowing until the delinquent notice was in the mail. The performed 'an investigation' where the 'recorded' calls were 'reviewed' by management and they deemed it to be my fault. This was a lesson learned on my part not to sign paperwork without being fully secure. The problem lied with the manner in which the matter was 'handled'; poorly & unaccountably.
2nd Scenario: Vehicle was a total loss in June of 2020. Called to report it with Insurance and Impound depts. Spoke with CS who transferred me to impound. Lady was very nice, provided her with insurance info and she told me someone would call me back. Never heard back. Received notices vehicle would be repossessed even after it was reported. Tow truck driver arrived and I told him where the vehicle was located to pick it up. Tow driver said someone would contact once it's retrieved. Heard nothing. Received two more notices in the mail as well as notifications from credit report that payments were delinquent. Called today and spoke with Jude/Joel (?) in impound dept who was extremely difficult to hear and was rude when explaining the process. Then 'the line got disconnected'. Called back twice as line disconnected the second time and got Supe (like soup-ay) who you could already tell she had a bad attitude. I asked if she could call me back as I had been 'disconnected with' twice already and she replied asking what I need help with, completely dodging the question. Was argumentative and EXTREMELY unprofessional throughout the 7 minute conversation. She cut me off to raise her voice multiple times and would backpedal on her words saying one thing then saying she never said that or that I was never told something when in fact I was by Joel or someone else in their company. They notify you that the payments are due & they want their money but don't notify you how you can keep your name in the clear.
Conclusion/Take-Away: This lender is primarily for those with a much less than perfect/no credit score. If offered a loan from them, accept it knowing interest rates will be high. THIS COMPLAINT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PRICING AS I KNEW WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO. Had the loan for almost 3 years with only 1 incident of delinquency in payment. Take this lender knowing you'll get approved and you're paying much more than what the car is worth each month but if you fall into financial troubles, there should be options for you (which explains the two stars). However, do not expect smoice (smile in their voice), concern, or efficiency when connected to a live agent. As a 5th gen native born US citizen, I'm not saying this is a cultural problem in their company but this is my experience. The only positive representatives I'd spoken with were from the Caribbean/Africa or Mexico. All American accented reps (not Canadian, you can tell the difference) were the same; entitled, presumptuous, and half-baked (for lack of the word I want to use). You will always have dissatisfied clientele when you treat them less than.
They are the worse company ever and a bunch of thieves. In june we settle a car loan due to being late over the whole
Pandemic. We were to pay 953.33 a month for 12 payments and the car would be paid off. We make 2 payments and about to make third and our car was reposed. When we called to talk to them they said they have nothing to back this up. They said there was never a deal made. We asked for recorded calls and denied, denied denied and even on one call hung up on us while we were talking. We filed a complaint with them, which I am sure we will never here from them again.
Then I went a looked at reviews and see they are non accredited and that they have 1 star rating and all bad reviews so this is not just us.. its everyone that has dealt with them. How are they allowed to steal your money and nothing happens
ZERO stars should be an option - their "customer service" is AWFUL! Pay off was signed for / received Tuesday morning, applied on Weds and would take 24-48 hours to post and Saturday account is STILL not cleared in order to buy a new car!!! Every person, including "supervisor" say they can't do anything. They do NOTHING to help their customers!!!
Terrible!!! They are the worst company. Charlatans! They do not work with you at all, they are blood thirsty. Never trust this company. I made the mistake and you should learn from it. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM!
Santander got my loan in February I was doing all my payment correctly and the pandemic hit, I call in the end of March and I applied for the pandemic help that they offer, I did all what I was supposed to do and I screen shot to make sure I have proof, in may I found out it never went through, so I call they demand a payment right away and then I could reapply I did everything again and in July I found out they reported that I was delinquent, my credit report when down and they said that I never submitted anything and I have proof from the first and second time. If your loan is now with santender I recommend to move to a different place, they lie, and you should not trust this business.
They were awful! They told me they didn't have my title after I paid off my loan so I had to go to the DMV during a pandemic because they are such a poorly ran company. DMV sent me back to them and guess what, they have it. I don't know if they lost it or what but they told me they don't have it. Awful experience. Horrible customer service.
Predatory lending and extremely high interest rates. They hold you hostage for the life of the loan. They don't refinance and won't let you refinance through another bank. I have tried several times to refinance but get blocked every time. I pay but the balance never goes down. Everyone I know that has a loan with them says they are crooks.
I want to start off by saying I have had a rough payment history. There's been plenty of life altering things that have happened to me over the years and has resulted in some incredible financial hardships.
I called Santander on July 7th because I'm trying to pick up the pieces of my life. I talked to a woman and figured out a payment that would be for July 10. I left the conversation thinking it was going to automatically come out. I waited for it to come out of my bank account. Nothing came out. My car got repossessed on the 30th. I called them and they said it was not an automatic payment. I told them I had a misunderstanding and wanted them to review the call from July 7. If I was in the wrong then so be it, it was my mistake and I take 100% ownership of that mistake.
They refuse to review the call. They said they are 100% right. They won't even honor my request of reviewing the call. How am I supposed to learn from a potential mistake OR be righted if they won't even take the time to review the call.
I'm not upset they took action on my car, I was behind. I'm appalled at the fact they are hiding information. If I'm wrong prove it to me. If they are wrong own up. That's all I'm asking for. Seems shady.
I am putting 1 star for now until I hear back. I am almost finish paying off my car never had an issue keeping check of my balance. All of a sudden when my loan is down to 600 and I pay 403 on it it will not show me my current balance but does say I owe 403 for my next payment. Something is not legal about this but I am trying to get in contact with someone. I will post again once I hear back.
I have been paying back my car note for over 10months,but my balance never change. What is going on,it seems a scam.
They are the worst! Told me I was ok and gave me a 3 month extention due to covid, then repo'ed my car saying they never got my signature in the "contract" no warning, no calls, just took it. THEN, they would do NOTHING TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I did everything they told me to do and they refused to help in anyway. I had to pay the three months plus all fees. 2500 just to get it back. I am unemployed due to covid and unemployment is a nightmare. I bought the van to transport my disabled mother, I had to borrow the money as we can't be without transportation. I am devastated and sickened by the way this was handled.
I took a loan from santander to buy a car the the car was 14255 the santander charge 16000 in fee so not I'm still paying for a car I can't drive because car need a engine cost 5000 plus labor the junk yard offer me 200 for the car I can santender they said I still have to pay the loan by can believe this could happen in America land of the free and home of the brave so please don't take a loan from santander if you can to buy a car and that's the only bank run please you'll end up like me
Worst bank ever, won't recommend to ANYONE taking advantage of this pandemic to screw people over. They offer people help & really just benefiting themselves. Asked for help due to loss of job when covid began they accepted my request (no payment April & May) they fail to tell me I'd be accumulating
12.43 a day in interest, so when I gave my June & July payment trying to catch up with those 2 months I gave a little more ($612.00 & $650.00) & never been late on my payments & both were applied to interest & now they say I still have an outstanding balance of 266.00, so come around my August payment it will also be applied to INTEREST ONLY!!! thieves I will be looking for another bank to take my business to, that does appreciate good customers that pay their bills on time & will help out when in need!!!
I wish I could provide screenshots of this conversation but this will have to do.
My account, as of today, is in good standing.
I haven't been able to work since April and asked for an extension due to Covid.
My payment is coming up in August so I reached out to see what my options were because I recently became disabled.
Their response, "We do not offer assistance while customer account is in good standing there is not need for it". (Exact quote).
So, in order for you to help me, you need my account to be in "bad standing"?
This company is a joke.
No wonder there is a class action lawsuit against them.
Well I have paid of this account 4 months ago have call many times and ask to post on the credit they never did is very dificult to speak whit customer services when you don't have account anymore.
Worst bank ever. Don't open an account with them you will regret doing business with them.
Is it anything Revdex.com can do to get the reprossion disputed from my credit.
June 4,2019 I purchased an 2016 Chevy impala and Santander consumer USA and they approved me for the car with 3,500 down with NO Proof of income. I got behind on my payments and I was looking for a job so I can bring my account current and when I found a good paying job I couldn't start due to covid-19 ( me not been able to start the job push my account in the reprossion status) when I did find a job that would allow me start working I called them the day I received my first pay and I was told I wasn't allowed to pay anything! It was only 2,300 that's including the towing fee to bring my account current and I was willing to pay 3,000 so I can start back paying my regular monthly payments of 377.75 a month and I was told I couldn't make a payment of anything unless it was the full 16,000 by the 25th of June and that's impossible to pay that in little time with me just starting my job. I ask them to allow me to pay so I wouldn't have to have a reprossion on my credit and I didn't have to start over because it didn't make since you put that down payment down on another car and I could just made the payment to them and keep my car and this time I had Proof of income so they knew for an fact that wouldn't happen again I just needed the chance to pay them and I wasn't allowed to and I feel like it's something we can work out because why would y'all allow me to get the car without prove of income and not be willing to work with me.
I wanna work something out so I can bring my account current and receive my car back without paying the full 16,000.

Dear Ms.:
We have received your request through the Revdex.com (Revdex.com). Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns regarding your account with Santander Consumer USA Inc.
Our records indicate the following terms of your "Retail Installment Sale Contact Simple Finance Charge" (Contract):
Date: June 04, 2019
Vehicle: 2016 Chevrolet Impala
Amount Financed: $15,552.51
APR: 20.22%
Term: 72 months
Monthly Payment $377.66(first payment due July 19, 2019)
Dealership ED Tillman Auto Sales, Inc.
Please be advised that Santander Consumer USA Inc. is the indirect lender and assignee of the Contract. The approval of an assignment of any contract, including yours, is based on the information provided to us by the customer and the Dealership. The terms of the Contract were negotiated with the Dealership at the time of purchase.
The following exceptions were made to the 72 month contracted payment schedule:
Late Payments: 6 (assessed 10 days after due date)
In some months, partial payments and/or no payments were received.
Please be advised that interest does not stop accruing when there has been payment assistance granted on the account or when payments are late and/or not received. There is no grace period for the accrual of interest.
After a review of the account, we have determined that the reduction of the principal balance is accurate. In the agreed upon auto finance Contract, it shows that the account is calculated using the Simple Interest Method. This means the balance accrues interest on a daily basis and assumes the customer will make their payment on the regularly scheduled payment due date.
When a payment is received, the outstanding accrued interest must be satisfied first. The remainder of payment is applied toward fees owed on the account, then principal. The amount of accrued daily interest can vary based on the amount of the principal balance and the number of days between payments.
Upon review, the payment received on the account was dated on January 22, 2020 in the amount of $70.00, the account was listed as 64 days past due.
A letter titled "Notice of Right to Cure" (RTC) dated February 09, 2020, mailed to the address on file: 1256 W 33RD Street Jacksonville, TX XXXXX-XXXX, explaining the total amount of $750.64 was due by February 23, 2020, to prevent the vehicle from being repossessed.
The default was not cured and on June 12, 2020, the vehicle was repossessed at 176 days past due, due to non-payment.
After the repossession, a letter titled "Notice of Repossession and Notice of Our Plan to Sell Property" (NOI), dated June 12, 2020, was mailed to you explaining that the Vehicle would be sold sometime after June 26, 2020, but also provided the opportunity to redeem the Vehicle.
On June 12, 2020, you contacted our Reinstatement Department and were quoted the total amount due to reinstate the account was $16,605.89 plus the repossession fee of $385.00. During the call it was explained due to the lack of payments made throughout the account, in addition to the account being charged off, you would not qualify to reinstate the vehicle with past due payments, although you were able to make a total amount of $3,000.00 and committed to the monthly payments going forward.
As of the date of this correspondence the payoff amount is $16,990.89 which is good until July 23, 2020. This payoff amount is subject to a final reconciliation and accounting and *** change if there are returned payments or fees assessed on the account within 30 days of this quote.
The vehicle was placed on hold to prevent the vehicle from being sold at auction. Unfortunately, you will have until July 15, 2020 by 5:00 (CDT) to make the required amount to reinstate the vehicle.
Please note, will be responsible for any additional fees assessed with the repossession including, storage, transportation fess etc. If you choose to not redeem the Vehicle, the hold will be removed and the Vehicle will be sold at auction to the highest bidder. Once the proceeds are applied to the account, you will be responsible for any deficiency balance, if any or provided a surplus overage.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires that we accurately report account information to the credit reporting agencies. We provide account information to the four major credit reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax, Transunion, and Innovis, however, reporting *** differ between agencies. The customer *** need to contact the agencies directly regarding any differences between reports.
Based on the information provided, on *** 31, 2020, we advised the agencies that the account was "Open Charge off" with a balance of $16,605.00. Prior delinquencies report 3 times 30 days late, 1 times 60 days late and 1 times 90 days late. The charge off occurred on April 30, 2018 when the account became over a 120 days past due, with a charge off reported balance of $15,380.00.
Unfortunately, the repossession will be reported in the futures.
Based on a review of the account, unfortunately, no change will be made to the information being reported on the account.
Enclosed is a copy of the Contract, Payment History, RTC and NOI.
