Thank you for allowing us to respond to our customer's concernOur customer had a concern with the unit not cooling properlyOur technician pointed out that there was no air damper We contacted the manufacturer through many of our approved vendors, and was told that the part had been discontinued by the manufacturer and was an option for the furnace but not necessary for safe, efficient operation of the furnace [redacted] did not previously have an air blend system on her furnace and it was not in the contract we provided to her to install this partEven though it was not in the contract we did find a third party internet vendor that we purchased the part from to satisfy her concernIt was shipped overnight and we installed it yesterday morningShe was satisfied with the installation and we are now waiting for the final inspection from the countyWe installed the part for our customer at her request at no cost to our customer and would like to close this matter as satisfiedThank you

[redacted] Complaint ID# [redacted] Thank you for allowing us to respond to our customers concernWe are very sorry for [redacted] ’s experience and wish we could have had a better outcomeI wish more options could have been givenOur goal is to not take advantage of customers but to offer a long term fix and not a general replacement of a partMichael & Son has been serving customers since and our practice has been to service customer’s needs and not overcharge customers

The technician, Carlos J***, arrived on time and called ahead to inform me of his arrival timeHe was very thorough and answers all of my questions I found him to be very friendly and courteous

Joseph D***s from Michael & Son Services installed a water heater for my house He came with a positive, friendly attitude very early in the morning and did a terrific job installing the water heater He explained how the equipment worked as well It was a very pleasant experience

Today, Miguil G [redacted] from Michael & Son Services came to my home to fix a blockage in my kitchen sink He was extremely knowlegable and professional in all aspects My garbage disposal was not operating correctly and had clogged my down pipe Miguil cleared the clog and replaced the garbage disposalHe left the area totally clean and did a terrific job He was friendly, professional and I would have him back in my home again Thanks Lois G [redacted]

On 03-Michael and Son's representative Jason M [redacted] came to our residence to replace bathroom exhaust fan, and install new exhaust fansWe had previously received a quote and along with it an estimate of the time it would take to complete the work (hours)Jason completed the work in hoursUpon review of the ventilation exhaust fan piping we realized that it was not vented through the soffet as discussed and to be in compliance with VA Residential codeHe had just left the pipe in our atticWe reviewed the work and called backJason asserted that the way it was done was fineWe escalated to his boss Richard H [redacted] C***l who also indicated it was fineWe knew that it needed to be vented outside of the home to avoid moisture and mold issues in the futureWe found the code "va residential code - 1507.2" which backed up that the exhaust fan needed to be vented outside of the homeAfter discussing it further with Richard, it was agreed that Jason would come out and Finish the jobThe reason for the complaint is that I believe had we not caught it, the moisture would have damaged our homeI also fear that Jason with the support of Richard have done this to other unsuspecting home ownersPlease review this claim as it relates to the violation of the code cited above

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: We only signed a contract with Michael & Son We did not sign a contract with [redacted] We only wanted our air conditioner fixed Michael & Son told us over the phone that we needed to replace our air conditioning system and our furnace, which was only years old, without even checking to see if the a-coil could be replaced We also have found out that there are still Rair conditioners being sold which Michael & Son did not inform us that this was an option We should not have had to replace the furnace We were told by Michael & Son that they had a subcontractor who was experienced in installing oil fired furnaces and they would be the people doing the installation as Michael & Son did not install oil furnaces We did not sign a separate contract with [redacted] as it was stated on Michael & Son's contract that [redacted] would be installing it In order to protect thems [redacted] Michael & Son had us write a separate check to [redacted] for their services and is now trying to make that our contract with [redacted] Again we did not choose [redacted] to do the installation nor did we have the intention of replacing our furnaceRegards, [redacted] ***

Victor was courteous and direct Noted my problem, recommended a solution, and completed the work within minutes I am satisfied with the results

Both Michael & Nate of Michael & Sons were great! I believe that Michael exhausted all the troubleshooting possibilities before calling in Nate as the senior technician Nate continued the effort Nate didn't leave until our air conditioner was up and running again, at almost 9:pm The only thing remaining is that Michael & Sons plans to check the air conditioner during warmer daytime temperatures

Do not ever consider using Michael and Sons for any HVAC work! We had a contract with themTo get ready for winter they came out to "check" the HVAC at our homeEverything looked fine, but they suggested that we install a "hard start" switch to lessen the load on the two heat pumps we haveOkay...cha-ching about to do thisFast forward to spring, and they come out for a summer checkThe guy comes out and comes back to show me pictures of rusted tubes and said that there were multiple leaksHe even had pictures of the rusted tubesWho knows if they were really mine? It seemed to patI asked if it could be repaired and he said...NO....it is too extensiveThe only fix is to totally replace the upstairs unitThis meant the outside compressor and the attic handlerHe did offer three prices ranging from about 9-12kI told him just fill up the unit with freon and see what will happenHe warned that soon we would be calling them back because what he put in would leak outAlmost on cue, the upstairs unit blew hot air on one of the first hot days we hadI decided to get a second opinion before spending 9-12k to replace the unitI found a guy who had stellar reviews and he came outI did not preface the visit with what had been doneI simply said.."the upstairs unit is blowing hot air." He took it from thereHe came back in a few minutes after checking the attic unit and the outside compressorHe said that a valve in the outside compressor was leakingHe added something in the system to show where the leak wasI am not an HVAC expert, but I can see what was leakingI asked him the same question I asked the Michael and Sons tech..."can it be repaired?" His answer was a resounding YES...of course! He needed to order the valveIt came in a few days, he popped it in and three months later, even with the temp outside right now a toasty 98, it is still cooling just fineHis total charge? Just under 1k! Not the 9-12k cost to replace the unit! I was very happy with his work and very disgusted with Michael and SonsAnd here is a little sidelight! When they opened up the outside unit that had the leaky valve, he asked me why I added the "hard start" switch? I told him that Michael and Sons suggested it in the winterOdd he said, since the original unit already had one!! And the wired one Michael and Sons put in was just dangling there, not even sure it was working...but the bottom line? We did not not need itThat was $wastedMy take on this is that Michael and Sons are only interested in racking up new repairsThe cover of a "contract" is just that, a coverThey found something wrong both times they came out to "check" the systemMy advise? Look elsewhere, Michael and Sons is not a good HVAC service unless you want to waste money!!! Stay away....run to someone else!!

The HVAC technician was on time, competent, well-mannered and personable -- he even spent a few minutes after completing the work to make friends with my petswhat a nice guy!

Stevie Aof Michael & Son Services went above and beyond to satisfy meHe came out on Friday as scheduled to replace my hot water tankI mentioned that I wanted to replace the old, ugly linoleum flooring prior to installing the new tankWhile we had to move the appointment to "first thing" Monday; he made arrangements with Michael and Son Services to send a "handy man" to lay the floor after he took out the old tankHe installed the new tank on the new floorMy utility room looks better too! Stevie Awas professionalHe kept me informed and did an outstanding jobHe politely answered my questions I would highly recommend himI would also request him to do any future plumbing jobs in my home

I have fluorescent bulbs in the light over my pool table The bulbs were flickering and not adequately lighting the pool table Jason S***, the electrical service technician with Michael & Son, recommended replacing the fluorescent bulbs with a newer technology LED light kit He informed me that the bulbs in this kit would produce better light and more than likely never need to be replaced He ordered the LED kit and returned the next day to install them The installation took less than minutes and produced excellent lighting for the pool table Jason did an excellent job, was very courteous and informative in the process, and the cost was very reasonable
