I'm yet another victim of this scam of a company. They charge you an upfront annual cost (which is a good price), then make up new fees along the way that were not in the terms of service. Then they have the gall to request government id that could be easily used for identity theft (with no guarantees about removing this data), and even after providing this info and being approved, they terminate your account when the algorithm deems you no longer profitable, falsely claiming you committed some sort of fraud against them when it was they who are blatantly committing fraud. I do not recommend that anyone or any companies give sinemia their business. Literally more shady than Moviepass, and that is a super super low bar.

Sinemia wrongfully terminated my account for which I had prepaid. There is no justification for this, other than some blanket statement about "fraud detection." I am by no means alone in having this happen to them, and I suggest that others in my position please contact the Attorney General of their state, especially if you're in California, which is listed as Sinemia's place of business. For others considering signing up for this service, you should stay away!

They cancelled my subscription without apparent reason and I tried to contact them without any response. I paid for a full year of service.
I have been using my subscription properly and within the terms of service. Also, I paid for an entire year and they are terminating my account after 5 months without reason. I tried to contact them multiple times through email and DM on twitter with no response. I want to continue using the services. Otherwise, I would like to have a refund for the months I have left.

Desired Outcome

I want to continue using the services. Otherwise, I would like to have a refund for the months I have left for my subscription.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They make me look a the balance of my account and I watch around 12 films which, according to them, is equivalent to the 120 usd I paid for the year. However, when I bought the membership they said that I was able to watch 3 films/month. Otherwise, I would not have bought anything. I paid 120 usd for a year of services. If they cancelled after 5 months they should at least give me back the equivalent to the other 7 months, around 70 usd.

My sinemia account was canceled and Sinemia claims it is due to fraudulent activity. I have only used this movie service to see six movies, all following the process outlined by Sinemia! When I try to reach out to Sinemia about this, I received an email telling me that they cannot share with me any further details on this. They also said that I should click the "Request usage history" link on my membership page to request a partial refund. First of all, the link doesn't exist. Second of all, the partial refund consists of my original membership fee less the full cost of all movie tickets I purchased along with processing fees for these purchases. If this isn't fraud I don't know what is! I only attended these movies because I purchased this service... It seems to me that Sinemia is trying to recoup its expenses by charging subscribers for the movies they attended.

I would give no stars actually. Horrible customer service. Made us send copies of our license to verify us and then terminated. Added additional fees. Worst company EVER!!!

One star for this fraudulent company is one star too many. Bait and switch tactics, unusable app, no location confirmation available, ID requirement, etc. The list goes on and on. Unfortunately, if you are designated as committing fraud, they give the same canned answer on Trustpilot.com- review your usage to determine any refund, which means good luck.

I cannot believe this company is still in business. There is one ongoing class action lawsuit- (for once, I say) good luck to the lawyers, but since this company's headquarters is in Turkey, something tells me we have a better chance of having North Korea disarming their nuclear warheads than for plaintiffs getting any funds back.

Unjust cancellation of services
Sinemia cancelled my membership generically stating that I had committed fraud using their services, but provided no proof of wrong doing. They have not responded to any of my requests for help. I want them to reinstate my membership.

Desired Outcome

I want them to reinstate my membership or give me a refund of the unused time from the 1 year prepaid subscription fee($210).

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They still have not provided any evidence to support fraud. They only give out form letter responses. They are not even giving me a chance to prove them wrong. I went to every movie I purchased a ticket for and I should be given a chance to prove that. I trusted them with a great deal of money and they failed to provide the service I signed up for. I will only accept a prorated refund for this device termination.

First they charge you a hidden $1.80 fee for every ticket purchase. Then they tack on another $0.90 "convenience fee" even though my theater does not charge one for online purchases. Oh and they asked you to hold up your ID to take a picture and send it to them. Lastly they just cancel your account outright saying it's fraudulent, when they're the party committing fraud. They try to "refund" you whatever money you paid them minus the movie ticket price, which is another fraud they're committing. Least they *** do is refund base on time left on the plan that you didn't get to use. This company is a total scam don't use them.

Sinemia canceled my account without cause three months after I signed up.

Their Twitter and email customer service was either robotic, unhelpful, or non-responsive.

The service was fantastic for three months, but as soon as the service they were providing started to be worth more than the initial amount I paid them for the annual fee ($113, $15 for the card plus $98 for 12 months of service), they dropped me for no reason whatsoever. Falsely accusing me of misusing my account in the process.

They are not doing the right thing and offering a pro-rated refund for the 9 months of service I paid for and did not receive. Instead, they are offering an extremely dishonest "adjusted refund," which is the amount I paid them minus the amount they paid on the tickets I got through the service. This makes the "adjusted refund" approximately $0. Reports are widespread that Sinemia is only canceling other accounts such as mine that are costing the company more than they initially charged for the annual fee.

If they were unable to provide the service, they should not have collected my money for it. Or anyone else's money.

So, essentially: with an "adjusted refund," it's the same as if I had bypassed *** and just given every dollar directly to the theater. I received no benefit or incentive whatsoever by having an account with Sinemia.

They also did the extremely suspect thing of locking accounts and demanding two forms of ID. This interrupted one of my check-ins at the last minute and left me, and many other users, confused and deeply annoyed and also put our personal private information at risk in the process.

A truly terrible, dishonest, bait-and-switching company.

Fully Paid Account Termination For No Valid Reason
I paid for 1 full year of service. The service entails 2 movie tickets for 2 people per month(total of 4 movie tickets per month). I had signed the 1 year contract in May 2018. I just got notified last week that my contract is being terminated due to violation of their terms and policy. I asked numerous times via Email and Twitter on what terms I violated, however all I am being told is that they don't have that information. They stated that the system automatically does the termination, so they don't know why my account was terminated. Hundreds of other customers are facing the same issue that I am. We are not able to get any information from the company. The company wants to cancel a fully paid contract and not provide a reason on why its doing so. This is completely immoral and I am not sure how this is legal. Please help me get an answer on this. My user name with Sinemia is *** and associated email address is: ***@gmail.com.

Desired Outcome

I want my contract restated and extended by 1 month, since I have not been able to use it after termination.

Sinemia is a Fraud. I paid $360 for an annual membership (30 movies a month maximum for a year). Plus they charge $1.80 per movie as a fee. Total collected from me for 21 movies viewed in 6 months: $397.80. Movies average cost about $16.50 in NYC. times 21 movies: $346.50.
The very next movie I bought a ticket for, would have put me over the $360.00 annual fee. Out of the blue. I received an email saying I was terminated for misuse. There was no misuse. I followed procedure. Apparently they have begun erasing high ticket number accounts to save money. There is 6 months left on my membership. They are frauds, offering a phony refund, which would first deduct the retail cost of all my tickets. So, they are ahead $50, and my account was terminated with 6 months remaining so they could avoid losing money. No other reason. There is a REDDIT thread joined by other Sinemia account holders with the same issues: https://www.***/
Product_Or_Service: annual membership movie tickets

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment full refund, or honor the contract and agree to stop terminating accounts

Account has been cancelled for no reason at all. Their support will not contact me and consists of only an online form that remains blank.
I have been using this account for many months with no issues. About a month ago, I tried to check in after seeing the movie I bought tickets for. The movie was over two hours long and since Sinemia only gives a 2 hour window to check in, I was not able to check in. Therefore, Sinemia forced me to pay for the movie tickets I acquired through their service. Since I knew their customer service was nonexistent, I bit the bullet and just paid for the tickets. Now, today I tried to order tickets and received a warning that my account has been terminated! A quote from their notice:

"An account may be terminated, but not limited to, for the following reasons:

Unauthorized use of the Sinemia card/cardless outside of its intended purposes, resulting in fraudulent financial activity
The use of multiple Sinemia accounts in the same device resulting in financial abuse
Reasonable suspicion of fraud and/or abuse
Sharing one's Sinemia membership information to purchase tickets for other persons.
Manipulation of location data resulting in deceptive ticket purchases"

Not a single point there applies to me. I demand them to let me know WHY my account was terminated.

I purchased a full year's worth of service. Now, they are going to charge me the FULL ticket price for each ticket!! This is a SCAM!

I do know that they are scamming many other people the same way so there is a class action lawsuit brewing. Trust me, I will be quick to sign up and testify for that!

This is very deceptive practices that are unethical and illegal.

Desired Outcome

I want to use the service exactly as it was described to me when I first signed up, paid and read their contract. Not only have they repeatedly changed their terms (without having me agree to them), but they now are illegally terminating my account with no evidence to prove - I know this because I have not done ANYTHING fraudulent with my account!

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is clearly a scam.

They sold me on their service by offering discounted movie tickets. They now are going to subtract the FULL ticket price from what I have paid them? That is the definition of a bait-and-switch program if I ever saw one.

I demand to see the evidence of the "fraud detection" immediately! There was no fraud at all.

It is clear that Sinemia is cancelling my account so that they do not have to provide discounted movie tickets.

You can NOT cancel my account, claiming there is fraud, if you have NO proof!!

I know you have no proof because there was NO fraud!

This is a scam. I'll be sure to let everyone know - not just in person, but on all of my social media accounts.

If there is a class action lawsuit (how can there not be??) I will be first to sign up.

Falsely terminated my account for fraud
On Oct.15,2018 I purchased a years Premium membership to Sinemia's movie plan in the amount of $359.88. On or about March 6, 2019 I tried to purshase a movie at Regal Cobblestone Theater in Elyria, Ohio but was unable to using the Sinemia app. I received an Error message saying that I needed to contact Sinemia concerning an issue. When I logged on to my account on my computer, there was a message from Sinemia stating that my account was terminated for fraudulent activity. There is no number to call or way to dispute this false claim so I followed the link and sent an email to which they responded that they had closed my physical card that I use to purchase my movies. I responded asking them to explain or at least let me dispute their claim. I have not heard from them since. I also asked about refunding my unused portion of the money I paid in advance. Again, no response. They owe me something in the amount of $210.00. Each month was around $29 and I only got to use Sinemia since mid October, 2018 and only once in March 2019. I've seen online a lot of people that this is happening to. They are ripping people off.

Desired Outcome

I want the difference between what I paid, $359.00 and when I was falsely terminated at the beginning of March, 2019, roughly $210 maybe more if I calculated incorrectly

I did not fraudulently abuse my account and Sinemia can not and will not prove me wrong. I have asked them many times to provide proof and they have not responded. Sinemia has terminated the account of many of their users wrongly and unjustly.
I want my refund which they have twice now given me two emails with two different amounts that they say they will refund but have not done so yet.

Canceled membership for no reason or warning. False claims of improper use and still had month left to use. No refund issued
I purchased a year membership up front. On my 11th month they canceled my membership for no reason. The notification I saw on the website said I misused the membership but there was no improper usage.

Desired Outcome

Refund my last month and do not wish to extend my membership. Does not let me cancel. Should also not be canceling memberships for no reason or warning

I had payed up front for a year subscription, 3 months in I started reseving hidden fees that were not in the terms & condtions that I had Agreed to.
I had purchased senimia SEPT. 5th 2018, and agreed to the terms and condtions. 3 months later started paying hidden fees for no reason, now they want me to send a picture of my ID as well as a picture with my ID to "verify" its me, so they say. I didnt not agree to these terms when I had initially signed up. I purchased senimia for my girlfriend and I, payed close to 500 hundred dollars for this service. I have contacted senimia to cancel but they wont issue me a remanding refund. I have 6 months remaining and I will not be sending a picture of my ID to them, I will like to get a refund of remaining months do to the fact that I payed for a service that bait and switched me. They constantly charge me little international fees even though I don't use their services anymore. It may be anywhere from 2 cents to 50cents each time. Once again I dint agree to this when I payed the full amount up front.

Desired Outcome

I would like a remainding refund.

By verifying your ID, you help us ensure you are who you say you are and that you are the sole user of your Sinemia account. Also, once you upload the necessary documents, the ticketing feature will be automatically turned on. In addition to that, once your ID gets verified, the documents you shared will be removed from our servers immediately.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Without giving a proper reasoning for what fraud has occurred it is unacceptable, Sinemia is committing fraud by taking my money and terminating my account. As Sinema is accusing me of committing fraud, I am just asking them to show me the proof of the fraud, is that so hard for them ?

Company collects fees and makes unproven claims of misuse and then terminates contract without supplying information as to why even when they offer it
Company has no accountability. They can claim "misuse" (including something as simple as forgetting to check in) without proof or options. They can then use this to drop you and take your money. I have had them charge my wife double 3.30 x 2 for processing fees for the same transaction and when they were apprised, refused to respond. Additionally, even when my wife DID check in, she was assessed a "misuse" fee. There is no explanation, just a fee assessed. Additionally they claim on their member login page that if you request a "usage history and refund". I have requested this twice and attested to the fact that my wife and I have gone to every movie They also fraudulently portrayed their product, assessing additional "processing fees" over and above those charged by the ticketing agencies AFTER an annual membership was already gotten. Finally, when I complained, they retaliated by dropping my account, and AFTER that they sent me this email saying they had VERIFIED my ID. When I asked if they had therefore reinstated my account. No reply. They are a shoddy and shady organization so inept and poorly run it is hard to say where the corruption and the incompetence ends.

Desired Outcome

I want a prorated full refund of my membership and a refund of my physical card (15.00) which I was not able to use due to the cancellation.

My wife and I had our pre paid movie subscription cancelled and when I asked why they could not tell me
Sinemia cancelled our Pre paid movie pass and gave us no reason. Every time I contacted them I just get an automated response.

Desired Outcome

We are owed the 4 months we had left on each of the two Pre paid movie passes we purchased

Sinemia Response • Apr 01, 2019

Hi. Upon reviewing our system, we see that you own two membership plans on tow different Sinemia accounts. As stated in the terms & conditions, A Person can only purchase one membership. In the event of detecting the same person purchasing more than one membership using different credentials or social media accounts, Sinemia reserves the right to suspend and/or cancel the membership by terminating the contract. Therefore, one of your account has been terminated. Also, since you requested a chargeback for your second account, you are unable to login. Once you provide the letter of withdrawal or the conclusion letter, ous support will be able to take the necessary actions. Thanks.

Wrongful termination of accounts and unethical conduct of business
To whom it may concern;

My name is ***. Both my wife *** and I have had our Sinemia accounts since November. Every time we used your services, we certainly made sure to check-in in a timely manner, always paid for all fees on time and never tried to abuse our membership.

Here is our whole experience with Sinemia:

1) Right after signing up with your services, you violated the contract and added an additional $1.80 processing fee on top of the convenience fee which you have indicated on your terms and conditions. Despite of that, we continued using your services and paid for the processing fee every time we purchased tickets through Sinemia.

2) About couple month after signing up, Sinemia starting requesting government issued ID. As this is a movie subscription service, we as members, should not have to provide these kind of personal and private information. But we did... My ID verification went smoothly and I was verified, however my wife's account was denied 5 times although we have met the requirements very carefully. After the 5th time, Sinemia terminated my wife's account. After reaching out to customer support (or lack thereof) 12 times, her account got re-instated.

3) Around the end of February or beginning of March, Sinemia removed the option to waive the convenience fee. So, there is a was to purchase online tickets through Facebook and/or AMC Stubs account and waive the convenience fees. However, Sinemia removed the option "do not pay convenience fee" and forcedly charged an EXTRA $0.90 (minimum) of convenience fee, ALTHOUGH members DO NOT pay for that fee through services mentioned above. Basically, this is $0.90 + $1.80 = $2.70 extra charge PER ticket Sinemia has been charging completely unethically.

4) Around the first week of March, after making these unethical changes to their system, Sinemia started terminating accounts of hundreds of their members with NO REASON. The only explanation, which is completely a huge lie, is hundreds of members have been enacting fraudulent activities. Having the fact that, some of the terminated accounts actually belong to my very close friends, I personally knew they were conducting a shady business and moreover trying to con their members by offering them the "difference" between the total amount of the tickets members have purchased and the amount they have paid for the membership. This is a complete dishonest approach of Sinemia. It is obvious they have not been able to achieve a profitable and abusing their own terms and conditions to kick their members out of the services they originally sold.

5) 6 of my very close friends have lost their Sinemia membership in 2 days. They all used their membership very carefully and have not abused it or committed any fraudulent activities at all.

6) Few days ago Sinemia started asking / forcing their members to pay a fee which they call "TIP" for using their services through their mobile application. They terminated EVERY member's account who declined to pay an additional so called "TIP". There are more than hundreds of official complaints on Better Business Bureu, Business Insider, Reddit and tens of more online websites, clearly indicating what kind of a business Sinemia has been conducting.

7) Right after I read these incidents, I opened my Sinemia mobile application to see whether everything's working with my and my wife's account. Both of us received a request for a "TIP" for using their services. As I had just read the incidents, I paid them $2 "TIP" and my wife paid them $1 "TIP" just to be able to continue using our accounts. This was 3 days ago. As of today, we tried purchasing a ticket through Sinemia application and we were denied their service, indicating we should check our Sinemia account online. Upon doing so, I just found out both my wife's and my account have been TERMINATED due to "FRAUDULENT ACTIVITES".

We have had our accounts for a little over 3 months and we had nothing but problems.

Desired Outcome

Either re-instate my wife's and my accounts, or provide a FULL refund for all past charges. DO NOT EVEN offer us a partial refund for the difference between the membership and tickets purchased so far! This is exactly how you have been CONNING hundreds of members.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is a generic response Sinemia sends to all user (hundreds of members) with no explanation.
Both my wife and I NEVER abused our membership, but used our membership (3 movies/month) every month, that is it.

Both my wife and I checked-in for every movie with no exceptions, paid every hidden fee Sinemia charged us, submitted our government IDs in a timely manner and obeyed every little nonsense rule Sinemia came up with!

Account terminations is the way Sinemia has been using with hundred (maybe even thousands) of members, once we reach to a certain amount of movie tickets that exceed the dollar value of our membership.

This is a huge scam that can obviously be confirmed by the class action lawsuit, Reddit reviews, both Apple Appstore and Android play store application reviews.

Sinemia offers an alleged refund conveniently, making sure the members uses enough tickets prior to account termination, so that based on their refund policy, they don't have to issue any refund to any members. Based on our membership $8/month ($96/year) equals to the dollar value for about 6-10 movie tickets based on the location. Once the member reaches that number, Sinemia conveniently terminates the account, BLAMING hundred of members with fraud.

It is very much obvious that Sinemia is the party who commits fraudulent activity by blaming their members of fraud!

Both my wife and I request a prorated refund for the remaining 9 months of our membership, NOT by counting how many tickets we used as a part of our membership, but for the timeframe you have terminated for our accounts! That will be $72 each for my wife's and my account.

Everyone with even a small common sense, would clearly see what Sinemia has been doing. Application store reviews are most likely the best indication of Sinemia's approach.

Please provide a prorated refund, OR, provide an ACTUAL proof of your claimed fraudulent activity. I, as an extremely careful and etchical person, am hundred percent sure that we did EVERYTHING right with our membership. If you are blaming both my wife and I for fraud, you BETTER give us a written proof, or I will sue Sinemia for wrongful accusations!

-

Unwarranted cancellation of my account for reason they were not able to specify. They referred to the TOS and nothing on there was violated.

Desired Outcome

Explanation on the website says nothing on the reason for cancellation, so really there is no transparency and therefore there is no way to contest their actions. I paid a year in advance, but because I have been using the service, they deducted what they've paid for my tickets from the actual amount I paid in advance.
