On Sunday, June we found that our upstairs second story AC Unit was not blowing cold air With the temperature the next day forecast in the High 100'swe contacted Penguin Air and Cooling to come take a look at our system The next day a technician (Ralph ***) came out and looked it over He informed us that we would need a new Capacitor, a Hard Start kit, and a Freon recharge in the down unit He also told us we would need to recharge the Freon in the existing unit With three small children in the house, we agreed and he set to work After speaking with a number of other HVAC companies, we learned that what we were told and sold was much more than was required
We were informed the unit would not run without the Hard Start Kit, which after doing our own research and speaking with a couple of other companies, we found that was untrue The Hard Start kit retails for for our Unit, we were charged dollars for a part we did not need

Penguin has very good follow up on requests for service, and scheduling of services paid for on a regular basis.  The office is efficient, and the field personnel are very polite, try to be on time and work with difficult scheduling

Thieves and Crooks Outrageous Rip-Off In the middle of a major heat wave they come in and instantly start talking horror stories about what your Air Conditioner is doing and how old it is which being a uninformed customer you believe this BS Then the repairmen replaces $worth of common parts which are know to go out often and with in minutes the unit is running and I was charged a whopping $ dollars What!!! for minutes of BS, changing four wires to install simple 20-dollar parts This is truly taking advantage of people Do the math, this guy charged me over $an hour to do very little And anyone can buy the parts at any appliance supply MAJOR RIP-OFF
