Progressive Business Publications Reviews (1449)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that their resolution is satisfactory to me. If I may, I think you should investigate them more in depthI would ask if they have a recording of my conversationGet a copy if they doI do not like to read; I can, I just don't care to unless I have toI do not have the authority to order a publication for $for the companyI haven't ordered a magazine in yearsI never accept "free trials" because you have to remember to call and cancel; I'm in my 50's, I was burned when I was youngerEverything about this is fishy to meI still don't know how they got my birth date, it's not something I'd give a telemarketerThey can get your birth date off face book I guessAs a matter of fact, I try not to answer the phone if I think it's a telemarketerDid you ever get one of their brochures? It's a sheet of paper with generic stuff on itI 'm sure I was throwing them away like junk mailAs a business, I get junk mailI don't open it, I just throw it awayI just happened to open one of their envelopes in February and saw the invoiceI can't tell you why I opened it, it may have had an "invoice enclosed" stamp on it(I've lost it at the moment.)
If you check the Internet on this company, a lot of people say the same thing I did, didn't order it and it's a scamTheir one page "brochure" (the one I opened) and invoice, for that matter, have no contact information; what company does that? An invoice (bill, if you will) with no phone number? Doesn't that seem strange? I go their website (I had to ***, I don't remember it on their bill), no contact information; what website doesn't have a "Contact Us" icon? I got their phone number form you, the Revdex.comI would be interested if you could actually find a viable company that paid for this service and talk to an actual person who has read it and paid for itI really feel, just my opinion mind you, they talk to someone in a company, get a birth date and send the bill hoping no one asks any questions and accounts payable just pays it without questionThat's why I'd like you to talk to a real person that had read and paid for this serviceIf the company did everything "on the up and up" then why let me out so quickly? It's $I read on the Internet, the best way to get out of it was to report it to the Revdex.com; it seems it worksI have to accept their resolution because they cancelled the subscription and closed the account without costYou, on the other hand, still have every right to investigate them furtherI'm sure I still have the invoice in the mess on my desk somewhereIf you'd like me to mail it to you, I will be more than happy at my expense.(ok, it's one page and will only cost me a stamp...lol)For the public, well more for the businesses, I ask you check into this company furtherEvery fiber in my being says it's a scamming company operating in AmericaI would expect something like this from Nigeria, not the USA.Thank you for your time in reading this little novel and your consideration of further actionRespectfully,
*** ***

The sales person lied to me on the phone about having to "opt-in" once our free trial was over This was not the case and we were opted in automatically We also never received the publications which resulted in us only receiving the emails which were worse than spam

We began receiving this publication without asking for it a couple years ago so it was often thrown away When we received the invoice, again we threw that away too The publication is cheesy at best Most of the information is pulled from other publications and rewritten in a cheap looking and rag format While the information is accurate, it is done so in a non-professional looking paper We tried to have them stop sending the publication but were harassed to pay for those previous publications until our accounting CFO finally just caved in and paid it Since then, we immediately send the publications back saying to stop sending them and take pictures of them unopened as we send them back For quite a while they continued to harass us but since we have proof that we are not opening them and are sending them back and are not paying for it at all, the harassment has diminished This truly is a rag publication and a scam to extort money from unsuspecting companies/people

June 5, Dear ** *** :Thank you for your email of 6/3/regarding the above referenced agency complaint that you received 5/29/After review, we would like to respond to your letter with the following detailed explanation. Please note that our primary method by which we
secure orders is by telephone solicitationIn such cases, our representatives take orders with a 60-day right of cancellation to a 1-year subscription to one of our newsletters, books or on-line programsWe have very stringent quality control procedures regarding our representatives making this offerThese include verifying the mailing address, asking for the month and day of the persons birth and asking for the persons email address or fax so we can send written confirmation of the order within hoursThis serves to encourage contact with us if there are any mistakes or changes that need to be made.Regarding the specifics of this situation, please note that ** *** ***, Grp Sls Mgr., placed an order on 9/30/for our Selling Advantage publication and she provided us with birth date information as *** as well as an email addressWithin hours of the discussion, we sent a confirmation letter that clearly restated the offer discussed, including the liberal 60-day, no questions asked, cancellation policyOur computers show that the confirmation went through without any problems. The birth date information is obtained, in part, to verify the conversation took placeOnce the order was placed, the same computer system sent the newsletters and invoices over a 5- month period of time. Thus the goods that were ordered by ** *** were sent to the same address that shows on this complaintThis computer system records and tracks all confirmations, invoices, online programs, books, periodicals sent and cancellation requestsIt does not show ever receiving a cancellation on the account or mail returned as undeliverableIf we had we would have cancelled the account immediately. With all telephone orders placed, if the ordering person does not find the information helpful, all that needs to be done is to write CANCEL on the invoice and return it to us or advise us any other way and the subscription will be stopped with no payment required, as is the publishing industrys general customHowever, if neither paid nor cancelled after months, warning notices plus and additional 30-day wait period the account may be turned over for collectionThat is what happened in this instance. As a courtesy we contacted the collection agency on 6/4/and advised the agency to cease collections and to cancel the accountThey have assured us that this has been doneThere will be no ramifications due to the account being turned over for collectionThere is no money due or Owing on this accountWe asked if they had received payment on this account. Please be advised that *** *** *** is just one of the collection agencies we use, they are out of New York StateThey are not part of our publishing businessThey are totally independent and not part of our company. While researching this complaint we did find that this company has done business with us in the past and is aware of our cancellation policyWe found many trial subscriptions had been accepted before and were cancelled as we instructed without issue except this account. We initiated a request on the same day that the name, address and telephone number be removed from our computer filesThis action takes approximately 30-days to processIn business we hesitate to say the company will never receive another mailing from usIf the companys name is misspelled or the zip code incorrect, our computers may not recognize it and something may go outIfthat should happen, please call and we will remove that version too
