Review: My spouse, daughter and I have a joint account with PNC. About a year and a half ago my daughter used the card to make a payment on a dentist bill. Then a couple of months ago I found a charge on my card for services rendered over a year and a half ago. None of us gave the business permission to use the card to make a payment on alleged business from a year ago. I filled a complaint and they said they would get back to me. After not hearing from them for about a month I called them. They said that they paid the bill because they had sent my a letter to which I did not respond. I told them that I did not get the letter. I had moved during that period and had my mail forwarded to my new address but I never received the letter. The place I live at previously was a duplex and they mail came to only one box. I asked how they sent it to which they replied it went regular mail. I asked why they did not send it registered on by ups or fedex. They said they were not required to do that. I then asked if they had my email address and phone number. They told me they had both. I asked them why the did not contact me through one of these options. Again they told me that they were not required to do that. I asked for the name of the person handling my account. They connected me to "[redacted]" voice mail. After not hearing from her for a week, I tried again. Again I got her voice mail. She would not reply to my messages.PNC did not do their job to handle my dispute and paid out on a more than a year old bill that we did not authorize.Desired Settlement: $663 for an unauthorized transaction

Review: A stop payment was placed on a company who somehow kept trying to take ACH debits from my account. I was advised by my local branch office to place a stop payment on the ACH and utilize option two of the stop payment arrangement. In this manner according to the secure site the following would happen: Option 2: "All future transactions" will not post to the account, however, all transactions from the Payee, regardless of amount, will be stopped. In this manner ALL ACH's from that company will not post regardless of the amount. I was also told that this would stay in effect for 6 months or until I revoked it. On July 11th, my account was debited for 350.00 and 150.00 dollars from the company of which I put a stop payment on. According to option 2 these should have been sent back. Instead they were put through and the bank tried to tell me that even though option 2 said it was regardless of the amount that it wasn't for the amount I originally put in for. They said I needed to file some paperwork that would indeed require a trip to the branch office and then a possible 40-100 day wait until I MIGHT get my money bank. I believe that they are at fault here as evidenced by OPTION 2 that states regardless of the amount all ACH's will be returned. I have now spent over 5 hours trying to correct this situation and am getting no where. I am not at fault as I did what I was supposed to do. I will include a screen shot of the stop payment directions with this.PNC has been unreasonable even though it is clearly their fault.Desired Settlement: I want my funds returned as soon as possible and I want an apology from the bank that they caused this issue. If my account is overdrawn because of this (which is a possibility) I want the fees waived and the checks paid until this is resolved.

Review: I opened account in Oct. 2014, I was told a free check book will be mailed to me 2 weeks later but I don't get anything in 2014. I moved and asked again for my check book. I got my bank statement to my new address but not check book. So I called back again asking if it was mailed out. And I was told the check book was returned by postoffice, and PNC detroyed my check book! I got no letter/message from neither PNC nor USPS saying one of my important package is returned. And PNC did not contact me for this "missing" package, or correct address, or anything can do to help me get what PNC should give me. Plus, when I opened the account, I was told I will be granted $200 bonus after conditions are met. So I contacted PNC after I think it is time to get bonus. First time I was told it is fine, just wait. But the second time I cannot get bonus because one of the conditions, PNC online banking, does not include online bill payment from credit card web, which I was not explained. It is very disppointment about the service I got.Desired Settlement: 1. Mail the check book to a selected address without any additional cost.2. Grant $200 bonus to my account.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I have a virtual wallet account, which entitles you to three "virtual" accounts, each with their own account number. For some reason on their website, even though these accounts are separate, PNC groups your spend and reserve accounts together. Anytime you go under on your spend account you receive an overdraft and same on the reserve. However, since these accounts are linked they use automatic draft protection to automatically transfer from reserve to spend and do not give the option to remove protection on either. You have the option to remove overdraft protection on the third account labeled growth, but even though the service is turned off, they still transfer funds without your approval. I have had charges reversed in the past and since that has happened, they say their system is automated and there is no way to override unless you call customer service. When I call customer service, they say I must bring in all documentation to a branch for verification. I've tried asking for a manager at the branch several times, but she is always out of the office or on vacation.I have 2 overdraft charges on my spend account totaling $72.00. Even though I deposited it at 5:57 at night one day and their sign on the machine says transactions AFTER 6:00pm will be posted next business day, they posted the deposit two days, resulting in overdraft transactions accumulating to $72.00.I have 3 overdraft charges on my reserve account totaling $108.00. A mistake from eBay has resulted in charges to this reserve account. PNC charged 2 overdrafts for the original two mistaken withdrawls and then charged another $36.00 when they REIMBURSED the money. That's right, they charged me an overdraft because my account was still overdrawn. I want to talk to the manager, but she is still on vacation. I'm tired of waiting for call backs and for her to show up. I need this resolved immediately because I am being charged $7.00/day for negative accounts.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement for all overdraft fees, 2 for the spend, 3 for the reserve, totaling $180.00. Reimbursement for consecutive daily overdraft fees on reserve account totaling $7.00 as of 9:12am 10/22/2014 and any other daily overdrafts that are issued thereafter.

November 19, 2014

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Please allow me to respond to your complaint filed on October 22, 2014, with the Revdex.com of Western Pennsylvania (“Revdex.com”) regarding overdraft protection, funds availability, and Overdraft Item Fees assessed to the Spend Account ending in [redacted] (“Spend”) and Reserve Account ending in [redacted] (“Reserve”) of your PNC Bank, National Association (“PNC”) Virtual Wallet. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

In determining whether you have sufficient funds in your account to pay checks and other withdrawal items, PNC’s general practice is to consider all pending electronic transactions (including, but not limited to, point-of-sale transactions) for which PNC has received notice, even if those transactions have not yet posted to your account. Pending transactions immediately impact the balance used to pay items presented for payment during nightly processing. We receive transaction information from merchants and other sources throughout the business day. Although pending transactions are reflected in your available balance, Overdraft Item Fees are only assessed on the posted items presented to your account against uncollected or non-sufficient funds.

PNC’s general practice is to post items according to the date and time they were authorized or when PNC received notice of the transaction. Details of our policy are disclosed in the Withdrawing Money section of our Virtual Wallet Fine Print (“Account Agreement”). For your reference, additional copies of the Account Agreement and our Virtual Wallet Features and Fees are being sent to you under separate cover. Pursuant to PNC’s Consumer Funds Availability Policy, which can be found in the Account Agreement under the section titled Determining Availability of a Deposit, “If you make a deposit through one of our branch tellers, ATM, mobile device, remote deposit scanner or by mail before our cut-off time, we will consider that day to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit after our cut-off time or on a day that is not a business day, we will consider the deposit as being made on the next business day that we are open. Additionally, as detailed under the Initial $100 of Your Deposit section, “The initial $100.00 of any deposit will be available on the evening of your deposit to pay checks or items that are presented to us that evening for posting. The balance of the $100.00, if any, will be available on the first business day after the business day of your deposit for all purposes. The remaining balance of your total deposit will be available according to the availability provisions for such deposits as otherwise stated in this policy.

The beginning balance in your Spend Account on September 29, 2014, was $124.18. A PNC ATM check deposit in the amount of $390.12 was made that day, of which, $100.12 was made available to pay items presented for payment. Additionally, a Non-PNC ATM Surcharge Reimbursement of $2.50 posted, bringing your total available balance to $226.80 to pay items presented. PNC received transactions totaling $421.17, overdrawing your Spend Account by $-194.37. Subsequently, two (2) Overdraft Item Fees totaling $72.00 were assessed to your Spend Account related to ACH payments made to [redacted] in the amount of $76.00 and [redacted] in the amount of $36.00.

The beginning balance in your Reserve Account on October 17, 2014, was $0.00. On October 17, 2014, a [redacted] transfer from [redacted] posted in the amount of $8.55, overdrawing your Reserve Account by -$8.55. Subsequently, an Overdraft Item Fee in the amount of $36.00 was assessed to your Reserve Account on October 20, 2014. On October 20, 2014, a [redacted] transfer in the amount of $8.26 posted to your Reserve Account with an overdrawn balance. That item was returned and a $36.00 Returned Item (nsf) Fee was assessed.

As disclosed in PNC’s Virtual Wallet Features and Fees, within the Overdraft Services Section, there is a $7 per day Continuous Overdraft Fee assessed each day the account remains overdrawn for 5 or more calendar days, up to a maximum of $98. This fee is in addition to any other fees assessed for the overdraft.

My review of your Virtual Wallet history confirms that Overdraft Item Fees, Returned Item (nsf) Fees and Continuous Overdraft Fees were appropriately assessed, as disclosed in the notices sent to your address of record. It is PNC’s practice to refund any fee assessed as the result of a proven bank error. As no bank error occurred, PNC respectfully declines your request for refunds.

Your PNC Virtual Wallet includes Overdraft Protection. If you overdraw your Spend account, (the “protected account”), we will transfer money from your Reserve, Growth or other designated PNC account (the “protecting accounts”) to cover the transactions creating the overdraft. For more information, please refer to the section entitled “Overdraft Protection Agreement” within the Account Agreement.

PNC Alerts, which in addition to keeping your account register up to date, recording purchases as they are made, and maintaining a positive account balance, may help to effectively manage the account and avoid the assessment of fees.

Enclosed for your records are copies of the following:

• Overdraft Notices dated September 30, October 20, and October 21,2014

• Virtual Wallet Spend Account Statement dated October 9, 2014

• Virtual Wallet Reserve Account Statement dated November 10, 2014

I attempted to contact you by telephone on October 22 and 31,2014, and by email on October 31,2014, but was unsuccessful in reaching you. On behalf of PNC, I appreciate the opportunity to clarify our position. I welcome the opportunity to further discuss your Virtual Wallet with you. Please call me toll free at ###-###-####, extension [redacted], which is also my direct telephone number. I am available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM, Eastern Standard Time.

Review: We did a small cash advance on our credit card which we paid off in full (including the entire balance of our credit card) that same month. We kept receiving interest charges at a rate of $1.50 per month for about 4 months after even though we paid our bill in full every month. I called and asked what these charges were about and the CSR stated that they were "Trickling Interest" and they I would have to pay more than my bill to have the interest stop accruing. I was never able to get a clear explanation as to why the extra amount wasn't showing up on my bill.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund (though not much ) for this trickling interest. I am more worried that others are being charged this at a much higher rate.

Review: I filed a dispute with PNC and the dispute was denied after 3 months because they stated I did not provide requested information on time. I saved the last request on voicemail from the person handling the dispute and responded with her request in a timely manner but still it was denied. The add insult to injury PNC charged me back 396.00 which put my account in arrears. I called back and was told the dispute would be re-opened and that they would correct the charges on 7/8/14. On 7/15/14 I found out my account was charged off to their collections department and I was not even notified. I called and spoke with mulitple people in multiple departments and all of which gave me different stories. Now my paycheck is scheduled to be direct deposited to the PNC bank to a closed account. I asked what options I have and I was told, I do not have any options and that my funds would be rejected. However reading all the online complaints about similar issues I found that PNC did not reject the funds but instead took the funds and charged other fees.Desired Settlement: I am hoping to have the dispute resolved accurately and the fees refunded to me.

I was given incorrect information and therefore the checks do not work. The checks were printed with the new routing number but the old account number. If the funds were always in the account then why would [redacted] say this in the following e-mail dated January 6th 2014 (also see attachment):

Review: I am a student that worked multiple part time jobs in order to work around my class schedule. I began working for a company named [redacted] November 12th which was data entry from home. I knew I would be paid for the work I completed and my first payment would be via check and as time went on I would have the option of setting up direct deposit. After researching the comapany, talking to the HR department, interviewing, etc. I accepted the postion and began work. On Saturday December 1st I was sent my first paycheck in the amount of $1220.05. On Monday May 3rd around 5pm I took my check to PNC Bank where I had a Virtual Wallet Checking/Savings account. I endorsed the check and gave it to the teller. Without any questions she looked at the check, cleared it and the funds were in my account. The following day I checked my account to see what my balance was and noticed the entire check amount was available, so I paid my rent, car and cell phone bills because they were due. Monday morning, Eight(8)days after depositing the check which had already cleared according to my to my account, my debit card was declined while trying to buy gas. I called my bank immediately and asked what was going on with my account and they said the check I had deposited was fraud. After speaking with the branch manager and explaining the situation there was nothing they could do, they had withdrawn the money on Friday which was still Five (5) days after they had already cleared it. They told me to contact the company that hired me which I did and it tunred out to be someone pretending to work for this company to gain access to peoples accounts. PNC However wouldn't help me with the now negative balance on my account, give me fraud protection, nor did they even notify me when they removed the funds I found when I was declined. The bank manager even told me the tellers are trained to detect fraud checks so it shouldn't even have gotten this far. Now I am not allowed to open a bank account because this fraud.Desired Settlement: PNC has trained professionals that should know how to detect a false business check when someone is making a deposit. Not only that but they shouldn't have made the funds available until they know the check is legit and be responsible for contacting someone as soon as there is an issue. I would really like for this to be off of my credit report and either the amount cleared or reduced to half to be paid off, so I can open a checking/savings account again for school.

Review: I had asked several people to close my savings account and nothing has been done about it. After I had transferred all my money out into my checking I had gone into a branch which was closing right when I get off work and asked them to do it. Only tellers were working and as I learned yesterday I have to sit down with a banker to do so. I actually have a full time job and a second part time job and work up to 80 hours a week. I'm lucky if I get sleep so don't expect me to move my schedule around just to tell some other person to close it. I was then charged $14.99 for having three withdraws in one month when it should have been closed and was reassured I would not be charged since it is to close the account.Desired Settlement: I want the savings account closed IMMEDIATELY and the $14.99 refunded to my checking as I should not have been charged in the first place. Some of us need gas money to work and have bills to pay.

Review: We have a mortgage with PNC Mortgage, a division of PNC Financial Services. We have requested to pay off our loan four times over the past five months and have not received the information required to proceed. PNC requires that they send a form to the loan holder with wire transfer info and current balance due info in order to process a payoff request. I submitted a request via the 'loan payoff' link on my acct in their web portal in late November or early December, 2014. Nothing happened, nothing was sent to us. We phoned in Feb 2015 and spoke to a representative. He refused to give us any information over the phone. He said he could not provide this information by phone, that we had to submit a request in writing at [redacted]. I have sent an email to this address requesting payoff information on Feb 4, 2015 and March 9, 2015, and again today April 9, 2015. I have not received a response to these emails, nor does it appear that any forms have been mailed to us. In the mean time we have had to pay five extra months of interest on our remaining balance, and we are still paying as there is no way to pay our loan off without getting their wire transfer and payoff information.Desired Settlement: I want PNC Mortgage to address this problem and if it is a deliberate neglect on their part to maximize their profits, they should be held accountable in a court of law.

Response:

To summarize the inquiry, the borrower states that she has requested to pay off the loan four times during the past five months and feels she has not received the information required to proceed. She states that she submitted a request via the “loan payoff” link on our website in November or December 2014, but did not receive a response. She states that she then called us in February 2015, but our representative advised he could not provide payoff information by phone and that she were required to submit the request in writing to [redacted]. The borrower states that she has sent e-mails requesting payoff information to this address but has received neither a response to these e-mails nor any payoff information in the mail. She feels that she has had to pay five extra months of interest on the loan balance as a result of this issue; she also points out that she is unable to pay off the loan without the payoff statement and wire transfer information. *CASE SUMMARY: CASE CLOSED AT THIS TIME. RESPONSE AND ENCLOSURE WAS SENT IN THE MAIL TODAY (APRIL 22, 2015) TO THE BORROWERS. DUE TO AN ERROR, THE PAYOFF STATEMENT THAT THE BORROWER ORDERED AROUND DECEMBER 2014 WAS NOT SENT OUT TO THEM. WE HAVE NO RECORD THAT BORROWER REQUESTED PAYOFF STATMENTS IN WRITING IN FEB 2015 OR MARCH 2015 AS CLAIMED IN THE COMPLAINT. DUE TO [redacted] STATE LAW, A VALID PAYOFF REQUEST ON THIS LOAN CAN ONLY COME IN WRITING. WE DID RECEIVE A PAYOFF REQUEST IN APRIL 2015; THE PAYOFF STATEMENT WAS MAILED OUT TO THE BORROWERS ON APRIL 9, 2015. I ENCLOSED A COPY OF THIS STATEMENT WITH THE FINAL RESPONSE LETTER. INSTRUCTIONS FOR WIRING TO US THE FUNDS TO PAYOFF THE LOAN ARE INCLUDED THERE WITH THE PAYOFF STATEMENT.

Review: This PNC branch and every other branch located any where in the United States and even across the globe upsets me to the extreme. There's so many reasons as to why I'm so pissed off with. But I would like to express that this bank is unnecessary to be involved with. The way they process money on your card is beyond itic. It's always scrambled all over the place with recent transactions posted last or something, leaving you with the thought that you were over charged for something. I am closing my account because I've never been so disappointed in my life. I really hate that I wasted my time with this bank. I'm just so upset right now I am absolutely at a lost for words.Desired Settlement: I want a damn refund on my card that they charged me with for reporting my card lost or stolen. (It was stolen). I thought I had to worry about someone going out and spending the money on my damn card, instead I reported the incident in enough time and still lost money because this dumb as bank charges a fee for replacing the card that was stolen from me. And then wouldn't even have a damn representative talk to me when there was still thirty minutes before closing time. They have a [redacted] job.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

Regards,

Review: On April 7th I called PNC Bank at 800-762-8538 to apply for an Auto Loan. According to the representative I would get a call in 24 hours to finalize the application because no one was available. Today May 15th I checked my credit report. I saw that my credit score went down and I had a hard inquiry from PNC Bank. I called the bank and I was provided with application #[redacted]. I was told by the representative that my application for a REFINANCE loan was denied. In other words instead of calling me to finalize the AUTO LOAN application on April 7th their underwriters submitted my application for a REFINANCE LOAN. A completely different loan. I tried speaking to several people today to rectify this. They pulled my credit again today and told me my credit was 656 on my [redacted] Bureau. Right before the 7th it was over 700. I pay every month to be able to pull my credit every month. In conclusion, because they pulled my credit for the wrong application on the 7th without my final ok they brought my credit score down. Now because my credit is under 680 they won't approve me for a loan. They basically pulled my credit without authorization for a REFINANCE LOAN instead of an Auto loan and brought down my credit worthiness. I asked that they rectify their mistake by reporting to [redacted] that it was an error to pull my credit on April 7th. They put me on hold for over 20 minutes then a few representatives continue to transfer me. I was told they can't undo what they did even if it was a mistake. This vendor needs to remove their credit inquiries from my credit or I need to seek a lawyer. It is that inappropriate for a business to act in such manner and provide such poor level of service. They need to remove their inquiries from my report as I never apply for that type of loan and/or received a call as promised to finalize the loan.Desired Settlement: Inquiries to my credit report need to be removed from my credit report from this vendor.

Review: 15 overdraft charges in 6 days each costing me $36 I have been trying since I only had 9 charges in 4 days to stop this asking pnc to give me my money back it was not suppose to be this way I went into the local branch like I was told to do and could not even speak to a manager, I went online and was told go to bank and talk to manager, I e mailed the corporate office at least 8 times to get no response at all. I knew bills were coming in I needed personal service and got no service, pnc was already charged and lost a big lawsuit cause of their overdraft practices and they did not learn yet, I do not deserve to pay 540 for charges that were not necessary but no one caredDesired Settlement: I was stating in all my e mails to at least give me half back so I could eat and feed my family this week, NOW I want it all back for being so disrespectful to me and all my ignored e mails, faxes and calls, all $540 back into my checking account 8xxx-xx-xxxx
