purchased installation through a nationally known box store, first came the no show, then a cancellation, after that I did research on the 'net. Proceeded to store who gladly returned my money. Do yourself a favor and find a local contractor. In researching they only give 50% of cost of installation to the contractor. No wonder no contractors ever accept Handy's bids. Only giving 1 star since no option available under the 1 star.
the last cleaning I had the pro entered the home after I told him to wait via test message. He used cleaning products he found in the basement to mop and those below to a construction company. He then texted me later and indicated he had an emergency and had to leave. He returns 2 hours later with 2 other people he had had helping him. I was very uncomfortable with this and have been uncomfortable the past few cleanings. Do you not screen your housekeepers?
Scheduled an installation of a garage door opener through Lowes. No one showed up. Now customer service for handy has stopped responding. I've arranged my schedule around this installation and cannot believe Lowes would use this unreliable company for installations of products purchased through them.
Unreachable - they’ve set it up this way.
Took my money, made appointment, didn’t show, didn’t call
That was 11-08-3019 & today is 11-22-2019 - email them every day - still no refund, just automated responses
DO NOT USE HAMDY.COM
I purchased a plan with the company (several hundred dollar value). Whenever I try to schedule a cleaner - they either are unable to assign me a cleaner, cancel on me last minute, or assign me a cleaner with very low ratings and do not let me cancel or request another cleaner. They have no phone number to call to speak with a customer service representative. They do not respond via email. I have emailed them multiple times with no response.

Hired through *** to install a garage door opener. First scheduled appointment, no one showed up. I called to get an update and was given a second date. That one was cancelled by Handy at the last minute. Third date, also cancelled by Handy at the last minute. It's a royal pain to change by schedule to suit theirs, when they do not honor their scheduled appointments. Reliability is definitely not a core value for this company.
I had sign up for cleaning service and service was horrible
General man was nice however he didn’t have the cleaning product and I paid for services that were not properly done and I decyto cancel there charged me 99 for cancellation how can you charge a cancellation fee when the service was met . I would pay the feel if I was canceling for another reason but I’m not giving them the money for nothing no service nothing it’s not fair and they don’t have a telephone number and the costumer service told me that’s the rules and ignore me this is there way of getting people money and getting away with it . My cleaner cleaned only 1 room out of 6, put the flat sheet UNDER the fitted sheets on my bed, and then watched TV for 4 hours
A truly horrible company that could not care LESS about customers. My cleaner had a fake rating. And, of course, you can’t speak to anyone live
The Handy app for home cleaning is a sham service. They "cleaned" my Air Bnb home on 11/4/19 and left urine in the toilet, clumps of hair throughout the bathroom, dirt on the counters, trash outside on the patio, etc. I took pictures and attempted to contact customer service and did not receive a response. I had to put a stop-payment on my credit card and dispute the charges. On their ***, every comment is a complaint about the bad services and lack of customer service. What a freakin' scam!
After receiving unsatisfactory service from a Handy professional, I wrote to and requested that Handy remove my billing/payment information and delete my account three times. Each time it appeared that the customer support member did not properly understand my request as the first offered a credit for future use and the second and third both confirmed that I canceled my subscription. Note, Handy does not offer a way for the consumer to delete this information on his/her own.

I was very unhappy with the service and support I received. After speaking with them on several occasions, the monies charged were refunded but I was told they could not remove the plan cancellation fee. I tried three times to get a pro that had experience and ratings. The first one they sent me had low ratings and little experience. He arrived without the necessary supplies and left my floors a mess. The second pro they assigned also had little experience so as directed, I selected a pro from my team and actually changed my preferred day and hours to accommodate his availability. The night before he was to come, another pro was assigned without any consultation. Again limited experience.
I requested they cease attempting to collect the cancellation fee from my credit card. Handy did not fill its side of the contract and I am far from happy. I understand these are independent contractors but they should have a commitment to accepting requested service before the night of the appointment, provide the necessary supplies and equipment they require, and be trained and certified as competent. The latter two are specifically specified in the Handy advertising and information.
Handy’s response was that even though they did not meet their end of the deal, I still had to pay the cancellation fee of $99 because I had signed up for a plan.
On 10/*/2019 I purchased a 65inch TV and Sanus f58c wall unit to hang my TV, so I bought a TV mounting service card for $99.00 dollars. I needed to activate the card at handy.com/exchange and enter the pin number and book my service with the company Handy. My appointment was on 10//2019 1430 hrs that I selected. Well on that date the service tech (Darren B. ) was one and half hour late with no phone call the 201 number was a non working number that I could not use to contact tech, well he proceeded to attach the TV on the wall as I notice he put the brackets backwards on the TV he did not use the instruction manual to do the job and he forgot to put the spacers on the back of the TV. Well I made a complaint with the company on 10/*** for unsatisfactory service, on 10/, 10/, 10/, I made a booking for 10/,to come back to complete the job right but the cancel that date so I picked 10/*** at 1400 hrs and the Customer Service Nnamdi confirmed the date for the booking. Well on 10//2019 no one showed up no phone call, my time and wife was wasted waiting for no one going back and forth with this company is ridiculous.

On October ***, I scheduled a cleaning service for October *** Even a week before, no cleaner was assigned to me so I got worried so I contacted Handy expressing my concern as I had to get cleaning done on October *** They assured me that a cleaning professional will show up. 30 mins before the cleaning appointment time, they just sent me an email saying that they had to cancel and arbitrarily rescheduled it tomorrow. I asked them to assign anyone today as I have to get cleaning today, but they said they can't. I asked for a refund but they ignored my request and gave me credits back instead. I even expressed that I don't want credits and I want refund but they ignored.

I used *** to hire a handyman to install some kitchen hardware on my brand new custom built cabinets. I showed the handyman exactly where I would like the hardware on each cabinet. I even made a template to refer to since there were 3 different types of hardware. I remained in the living room part of the area (it's an open kitchen/living room layout), ready to answer any questions. The handyman incorrectly drilled 6 cabinets before I realized his error. He immediately stopped and apologized and said he would repair them on his own dime later. I tried to text him 2 days later and got an auto reply saying this *** phone was no longer in service. I called *** and they immediately credited me with the handyman cost and provided a form to get reimbursed for the damaged cabinets through *** whom they had outsourced the job to.
I submitted the form June , 2019 and *** initially wanted to send another handyman to fix the cabinets, and I said that was fine, but it needed to be a professional painter who know exactly what bondo type to use. I had already done my research on repair work at this point. They responded by saying to provide an estimate from someone I trusted. I did so and the cost was $1,200. *** responded by saying I should go through my insurance based on their terms and agreements. I said absolutely not and I was not bound by their contract as I did not hire them, Home Advisor did.
Since August *** after all the hoops I've had to jump through my case is "under review" every time I contact either Home Advisor or Handy. *** doesn't list their corporate headquarters or provide any phone number to call. It's been almost 6 months to get this situation resolved and all this time I'm living with damaged cabinets in my newly remodeled home.
*** is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with and don't recommend them at all.

Soooo terrible. On multiple occasions the cleaning people have been cancelled without our notification. And on top of that they try to charge a cancellation fee if you then cancel the service because you don't want a random person to come to your home instead of the cleaning person you selected based on reviews. This happened to me 2 times. I was finally so frustrated I asked my husband to just use his app to schedule the cleaning, maybe he would have better luck. So he scheduled a week in advance for the day before our wedding. Hand selected someone who seemed like they were well review. Then poof, the morning of, they switched her out with some guy who had 1 review....it's already a stretch to bring a stranger in your home, but one that's not even reviewed is too much. So fine, he can cancel...oh, but no he can't...because now handy would charge a fee to cancel! He has to get on the phone, etc the day before our wedding. Our place was a mess for our wedding. Very disappointing. This service is not at all what they advertise it to be.
My experience with Handy has been a perfect example of a company getting customer service WRONG.
I saw something about Handy on ***. Curious, I clicked on the link and requested a quote for housecleaning. Immediately, I started receiving frequent sales emails and several calls from a local sales representative. It was very aggressive, but the sales person was very nice and helpful and I was interested. I didn't decide to book anything at that time, but continued to receive frequent emails. Finally, there was a sale on deep cleanings and I decided to give the service a try. I liked that the service providers were vetted and insured by Handy. I picked a Friday afternoon right before having house guests; I took the day off and sent my four month old son to his daycare so I could pick up the house before the cleaner arrived and be there while they worked, since I have two dogs. Since I just returned to work from FMLA recently, I don't have many vacation days so it was a big deal for me to take the day off.
When I booked, I downloaded the app as prompted and saw my "service pros" that had been pre-populated in the app. They had lots of good reviews. I wrongly assumed one or both of these women would be cleaning my house (why else would they be pre-populated there?). The day before my service, I received a message from the woman who would actually be cleaning my house. I didn't totally understand her message but overall I appreciated the confirmation message. I was concerned when I saw that this was someone new to Handy with no reviews. For a first-time customer experience, you would think they would send a known, well-reviewed service provided to ensure a great first experience.
The day arrived and noon came and went. I gave her a few minutes, assuming she was just running a few minutes late. When she was 15 minutes late, I sent a message in the portal. Nothing. A few minutes later, I called. Her voicemail was full and she did not answer. I sent another message in the portal. Still nothing. By this time she was over 30 minutes late and I was getting really concerned and frustrated. I tried to find a customer service number for Handy - a company that had called me multiple times when they wanted my business - only to find that I could only email. I emailed and asked for a response ASAP. Nothing. I emailed again. My husband emailed. At 1pm (one hour past the service start time), the booking disappeared from my app, along with my messages to the service provider; it was as it if was never scheduled. I got emails about a credit and a discount on future service. Still no human interaction despite multiple requests to SPEAK to someone. I then requested a refund, because I was already sure I NEVER wanted to use Handy again. I was quickly sent an email that a refund had been issued, although to this point I still have not spoken to anyone about my experience. I will be keeping an eye out to ensure I actually receive my refund (I haven't yet).
The entire experience felt like a total bait and switch and truly like a scam. I lost a vacation day, had to pay for daycare, and did not have my house cleaned prior to guests arriving. The entire situation was completely unacceptable and left me with an awful feeling about how Handy manipulates people.
The company does not connect with contractors to put together items ordered through ***. They schedule your appointment and then state they have to reschedule. They did this to me 4 times. They could care less about the customer nor the customer ‘s time. Very incompetent company. I will never order any item through *** or any other company that has them as a service.
I have worked for Handy for a few weeks now. I recently went to an cleaning for a client on Sunday, October ***. The client did not want me to clean their home. As per the policies and procedures of the company, I checked into the location and emailed customer service about the issue. As per their policy, I should still be expect full payment in the amount of $90 for the job. No they’re lying and saying that I didn’t show up to the job and they aren’t trying to pay me. The customer and her customer husband opened the door for me to talk to them once I arrived. The wife even asked for my business card which I gave her. Now Handy is lying and will not give me the money owed.

RIP OFF. Cannot reach a live person and receive automated robotic replies by email.
We began a contract with handy over six weeks ago for bi-weekly cleanings of our home. In that six weeks, we have managed to haggle 2 subpar cleanings out of the professionals that Handy has contracted with. We've had two "professionals" back out last minute and one that showed up, accepted the booking, and left without even stepping foot into our house. Handy did refund us the money for the services, however they never made an effort to find a professional to complete the service promised to us. Instead we were left in a lurch, and we had to rebook our own services, which at that point couldn't be rebooked for over a week from the missed service. Handy did absolutely nothing to help us with this. We were very unhappy with the contract and to back out, Handy insisted we paid $100 early cancellation fee. Handy pays their contracted professionals a very small portion of the fee they charge their customers, which I am sure contributes to the unreliability of the professionals they contract with. Handy did nothing to try to improve our satisfaction with the company except give us a $10 credit. They are shameful and I would never recommend this "service" to even my worst enemy.
I am disputing the charge originally posted to my credit card on August *** from Handy. On August , 2019 Mr. L a Handyman from Handy was scheduled to come to my home to assemble two Ikea shelves. Mr. L made it to the appointment on time and started working on assembling the shelves. When he had completed about 10% of the job, he made me aware that the metal piece that needed to mount the shelves to the wall was bigger than the actual shelves. He asked me if I wanted him to install it like that or if I wanted him to cut the metal piece. I said my preference was for him to cut the metal piece so that it would not show once mounted to the wall. He explained that he had not brought a saw with him and asked if I was OK with him coming to finish the job the job another day during that week and we agreed on Tuesday, August *** after 6:30 pm.
On Tuesday, August *** in the early afternoon, Mr. L messaged me on the Handy app to confirm if it was still OK for him to come that evening. I replied yes, and said I was home and he could come before 6:30 pm if that worked with his schedule. I did not hear back from Mr. L after that day. I sent him 2 other messages on the evening of the *** asking if he was on his way and never received a response.
On August *** I emailed Handy explaining what had happened and at first I just wanted them to get in contact with him and ask him to come back and finish the job. However, their response to that request was that they would credit $35 to my Handy account. That to me is unacceptable because I paid $8 for the service. I emailed them again, now asking for a full refund and to speak to someone on the phone and their response was to refund $35 to my Capital One credit card. Again, I expressed that I was not happy with that and that I wanted to speak to someone on the phone and was never given a number to call them, nor was I able to find a number online to get through to them. At that point my only option was to dispute the charge with Capital One.
Unfortunately, I can't attach on her all the supporting documentation I sent to my credit card company to dispute the charge with them, which included my email exchanges with Handy and pictures of the unfinished job. While gathering this documentation I attempted to sign into the Handy app and quickly realized that I had been blocked from signing into my own account without prior knowledge. When I contacted Handy, they said they deactivated my account indefinitely because I disputed the charge with my credit card before talking to them. Which is a BIG FAT LIE! Stay away from this company they are terrible. I simply just wanted someone to finish the job they had started and that I had already paid for, but Handy was and still is unwilling to do that. I have only received $35 from them and I paid $8.

The business' response is a lie. I did contact them before I disputed it with my credit card company. Although both disputes were done on the same day, I tried to resolve this with Handy first.
