First of all, I am not an employee of Handy, I am an independent contractor. I lost my phone en route to a client, on the train, and had no way of reaching Handy. I had to return home, to use my roommate's phone, to try to email them through the handy.com site. I did so, explained the situation, and the response was not valid. Then, I tried to download the app onto my roommate's phone, but you need a text to receive a code. Well, I lost my phone, so how was I to get a code? For days, I have been emailing back and forth with reps who do not read my emails thoroughly, they have offered not help. I was charged $110 as a penalty, when Handy has no way for me to reach them alternatively! I got charged for not only misfortune of losing my phone, they have a platform that is faulty! Then a rep told me that I should have asked them to update the phone number, so I could loaf the app onto my roommate's phone. I mentioned in my email I was using my roommates phone, she never offered to update it! Handy has zero ways to communicate unless it is on the app, and pocket tons of money from their hardworking people. I am asking for my $110 back, since I emailed Handy to let them know what happened, and they dis not mention I could use an alternate phone to upload the app. I think they need an emergency phone number, so Pros can communicate with them, and clients. Please help, this company is taking our money!
All fees are processed in accordance with Handy's Professional Service Agreement, which outlines penalties for missing jobs claimed through the platform.
While we understand that things do come up, and accidents do happen, we are unable to remove the fees for the missed job, and those cancelled thereafter within a penalty window.
