We just bought a new home and the home had previously had an ADT system installed so we thought it would be much easier to go with company as opposed to getting new wiring through another companyWe found online that we can get service coverage from ADT at $a month and we thought it was safer to go with an established company even if it was a bit higher monthly pmtWhen we called to set up an appointment we let them know that we already had adt wiring and what not and that we wanted the service we saw on on phone for $or so dollarsThey scheduled an appointment did'nt really ask much and so we had a tech come outThe first thing the tech said was we need to replace this old device (keypad) it was out dated and he went to work right awayafter about minutes he came and said lets take a walk through of the home and name the roomsHe said ok ill get the paperwork together and ill be backWe thought it was great as the customer service agent had previously told us that the whole thing would take 1-hours and we thought he was finishedWell come to find out, we had to pay for equipmenttotal was about $4,as he also included 1k in smoke detectorsOf course we looked at each other in disbelief as we where never mentioned of these fees we had no idea that each device was $and smoke detected (we did'nt ask for) $We told him thank you but at this time we just purchased a home and we had all our expenses figured out and we could not afford this expenseMind you he arrived at about pm Thursday, by pm we where still trying to convince this man we could not afford it We called ADT again to complain about the information and they said the guy was installing too much in the home and described it as "OVERKILL"We had to pick up my daughter from school during rush hour it takes approx mins to get to herWe had not moved into the home yet she is still in her old schoolThis guy takes no for an answer and would not leave The supervisor we spoke to at ADT asked us to him to STOP the installation and he tech just called his manager and he asked me to talk to himSo we have two calls one with the services sup adn one with the techs's managers both talking to me and my partner at the same timeIm expecting soon and I had been there since am and only had breakfast so im desperate for a solutionThe guy finally said that the equipment could stay and it would only be $for the systemWe did not understand what the charges where for and when we where mowing our lawn right before sunset the technician asked us to create profiles and to sign a contract so we didWe did not understand or really hear what he was saying as we had another guy trimming the grassMy partner was then dragged off the lawn by the guys and spoken to, not sure what he was told or anything (mind you this is my home, hes my boyfriend the account is in his name)He did not understand what the tech said and he did not even understand the instructions on how to use the systemThe guys said, im going to show you how this works but its going to go very fast okCall us if you have questions and leftWe wake up at am the next day and later realize that we had a text alert for a robbery in hour home at 3:amWe call ADT and tell us that the service will not start until pm that night and so they did not call the policeWe take the minute drive up to the home not knowing what to expect and still a bit scared to be honest as I'm pregnant and see that one one the alarms the newest and practically best equipment they have fell out and is laying on the floorAlso come to find out that we were charged $NOT $as promisedDid I mention that the Tech left after sun down and we got home at 8:that night due to all thisI want this contract terminated adn need help finding out how to go about doing itPlease assist as the tech said we had days to cancel but I do not believe anything he says as my boyfriends tells me he was already charged to his cardThis is too much stress for me

I have been trying to cancel this service for approximately monthsCompany promises cancellation, does nothing, keeps billing me
Several months ago I was having trouble with my home security system In my city, we get fined for excessive alarms I called trying to get my system repaired, and didn't get anywhere so I decided to go with another company I have sent cancellation notices by mail, as well as by talking with their customer service representatives Every time I call, it's like I'm talking to them for the first time There is no record of my letter to them or any of my previous phone calls Every time I talk to them, they assure me that my account will be cancelled, yet they never close the account and they continue to bill me
I don't know where to turn for resolution at this point This is such a trivial matter to go through so much trouble over I just want to cancel my account, pay my *valid* charges, and move on The company seems totally unwilling

ADT says I'm behind on account, my records show I'm paid up through June
We can't seem to get our account balance resolved, they said we didn't make Aprils paymentAfter many phone calls and very rude customer service, we found out that Aprils payment was accidentally credited to another customerMy records indicate that we are paid up till JuneI went to my bank and got printed out receipts showing I'm paid up

I live in Calgary and have had shouting matches with your customer calls -usually at 7:AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings calling about a service problem at our cottage in Manitobahrs different from the Montreal call centreFirstly they know nothing about the word cottage home -lake front home and summer home- Hove no clue where Manitoba is and where Calgary Alberta is - The problem concerning my making a call to a service representative from Manitoba meeting me at the Cottage when I travel back to our Lake HomeIf you see the call log you see that I have been transferred to the Tech support times and placed on hold for to minutes as the time I sat on hold and waiting for a technician - was too long and tied up my home line too long Your company lost our Home account Calgary Ab when we moved and no one answered my request for a quote and install to our new Home This lack of customer service issue at Cottage is too much to handle - Do you follow up on your calls to customers ??? I am not happy and will spend time seeking out another provider
Intrusion alarms - at a cottage also have low heat -high heat monitors.- Electricity monitors and fire monitorsWant to add cameras to my internet and view cottage from out home in Calgary - So your company is only part of our secure lake home - as we pay for telephone lines- internet - and electricity -Motion alarms and check with the Police every year in person to make sure we/they have identify associated to an alarmIt is more complicated than your perception of what I need Your equipment then is subject to weather fluctuations - then we will get someone who answers your 7:am Montreal calls from Montreal as out west has no concept of vastness of a malfunction of your equipmentTrying to call times in a week is not what I paid forTwo postal codes Calgary *** Manitoba ***

Unable to cancel service to property no longer owned per customer service representative

PSA - "ADT" is the pretty face of the companyThey literally do NONE of the workHow is this possible? Let me explain
ADT is the popular, widely known name of home security and monitoringWhat they DO NOT tell you is that a company called DEFENDER is actually the company supplying your products, your warranties and completing your installationThe number on ADT's website directs you to Defender, however, they do not tell the customer this, so you think you are talking to ADT the entire timeThe most unfortunate part of this duo company is that neither take responsibility or attempt to help customers in the leastThey constantly point fingers at the other companyIn total, I've spent hours, ELEVEN HOURS, over the last days, on the phone being transferred from one company to another, "disconnected", thrown into queue lines that end in voice mails - you name it, I've experienced it
The sales agents who sell you the initial package will tell you anything you want to hear, as long as they get their money(Come to find out, they work on commission and get paid when you complete the sale.) I had an agent tell me that "all equipment necessary to protect your home and your family is FREE OF CHARGE" with the promotion they were running the day I calledThen, when the installer got to my house, he was directed by Defender to only install windows and I had to pay for the rest of them (This totaled over $worth of product)It took me DAYS to iron this situation out and in the end, it still isn't fully correctedI don't want to bother calling because I just don't have any more time to waste on this company
In short, if I could rip this alarm system out of my walls and go with another company, ANY OTHER COMPANY would be betterLiterally any other companyI am kicking myself for choosing their year plan because all that means is that I am stuck dealing with these bs for another months
Sadly, this came after doing an entire week of research and talking to different call agentsI put the time behind choosing this company and I still got screwedDon't make the same mistake I did - go with any security system besides ADTYou will be happy you did

Hello I purchased a home in Maricopa, AZ in April of I signed up for an ADT security system I did not pay any money up front, but my monthly bill was $ In March of I notified ADT that I would be moving out of the home on April 17, 2018, and would like the service discontinued I was aware that I had a contract with ADT, and was told that if the new owners of the home would sign on with ADT, I wouldn't have to 'buy out' my contract I arranged with the new owners to have them sign on with ADT I had to contact ADT in June of because the $was still being taken out of my bank account two months after I had moved out At that time, they said, once again, that they would turn off the service I thought the service was shut off on April 17, In July I started getting bills for the $which is apparently what I have left to 'buy out' my contract I called ADT once again to explain that the new owners had said they were signing up with ADT A

Every so often I receive details that my bill will increaseWhen I first purchased my home in 2007, I knew that I wanted my services with ADTI did research and determined that ADT offered the best security servicesBecause I am the type of customer that takes loyalty very seriously I've never opted to search for another providerIf things are working great, why changeWith the constant increases, but no changes in the service I'm trying to determine why should I stay with a company that does not value my loyaltyI've been a loyal customer, but have not been shown any value for being a loyal customerI won't say that I'm dissatified with my service because it works, however I don't like the fact that increases are sent, but the quality of service does not improve
I'm to the point that I'm researching other alternatives because the prices steadily increase but I have no more than what I had when serv

Nonstop Harassment After Being Told That an Issue was Resolved
We contracted with ADT to provide home security servicesAfter the three year contract expired, we decided to contract with another providerWe contacted ADT and cancelled our accountADT continued billing usIt took (at least) two more phone calls to have the account cancelledADT has since pursued collecting the balance on the accountAfter a few phone calls, I was told that the issue would be resolved and that we had a zero balance due on the accountThis was two weeks agoWe are now getting more phone calls looking to collect on an account that I was told was closed

I signed up for monitoring service over the phoneI was never told that the contract was yearsI was charged a $early cancellation fee
I rented an apartment for a 2-year term and activated the ADT security system monitoring service over the phone on 5/26/While speaking to the salesman on the phone, there was never a mention of a fixed term contract or the possibility of an early cancellation fee
The security system was installed on 6/9/Again, the ADT employee who installed my equipment did not mention or clarify that the contract had a 3-year termIf he had, I never would have agreed to this, as my lease agreement was only 2-years long
When my lease ended, I moved and called ADT to cancel the monitoring serviceI was then informed for the first time that this was a years contract, that this term was in the fine-print of my contract, and that I would be charged a $cancellation fee

I just wanted to let you know about the cancellation experience that I had with ADT monitoring serviceBecause of my experience, I can not recommend ADT as a security service
When I called to cancel monitoring of my security system, I was transferred to the cancellation department (after minutes on hold and a minute conversation with a customer service rep) They then, over the course of minutes, summarized my security system by identifying each and every sensor in my house, a process that I felt was very unnecessary, and also stated that the cancellation would occur after days from my requestIn addition, they would send a signal to my system that would disable any programming that they had done, including arming and disarming codes, which would render the system inoperable (a system that I had been charged for and paid for)They then put me on a minute hold to process the cancellation
After the hold, I was told that I would be given "several points of advice" regarding my cancellationThe first point was that they would of course notify my insurance agency that I was no longer monitoredBecause my cancellation was because the property was going to be rented, they asked me about the lease terms and duration of the lease for my rentersI did not feel that this was any of their business, and told them soWhen I replied that I would not give them that information, they stated that the renters would be obligated to enter into a year contract, and if their lease term was less than that, they would probably not protect my property with an alarm system, leaving it "vulnerable"This is a short version summary of a minute diatribe from ADT's cancellation representative
After this was stated to me, I asked if there was anything else, and the representative stated that there were several more advice points that she would like to tell meI asked if the cancellation was processed, and she replied that it was, but she needed to give me more "advice" regarding my cancellationI asked her not to waste my time, and she replied that she was just trying to do her job
At this point I said goodbye and hung up
So basically, if you need to cancel service with ADT, expect to have a representative take at at least minutes of your time trying to scare you about having an ADT unprotected property, inform you that they will take action to notify your insurance company that you should not be entitled to any discount afforded to you by having your property protected by them, and then provide unsolicited advice for an unknown amount of time to attempt to scare you into continuing with their product
If their product was really that good, they wouldn't need to put you through all of this if you wanted to cancel
Please as se consider this when selecting a security service
