I have a [redacted] Visa with Synchrony Bank. This may be the worst customer experience I have ever had. I have other credit cards and pay my bills fully each month. I have with the BR Visa for over 2 years. They have never been a good company but I liked BR. When they sent me a new card with a new number I had already paid my balance on my card with the old number reference. They called to tell me I was delinquent. They saw I had paid my balance but it was on the old card number. They did reverse all late charges but said it would be up to 10 days(!) before they would move the money. It has been over 2 weeks and they haven't moved it and keep calling me about a delinquency. Each time I talk to them they "see the notes" but pass me on to someone else who doesn't help. Their reps are not helpful and they do not try to help. Don't use this card it isn't worth it.
When they were GE Capital, I paid my bill on time, too. Went to my mother's funeral, and made a payment before I left to go out of town. They credited my account with making 2 payments in the same month, and no payments the next month. The check was marked October and November, but they never looked at that. I cannot get it removed from my credit report. So, I paid the account off, and never applied with them again. I wanted the Care Credit card for some dental work. But, I decided it would be better to avoid having anything to do with this company. I wrote to the Attorney General for the State of Georgia, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Currency and Exchange Commission that deals with banking issues. I wanted to sue them, and I could not afford the attorney fees. I looked on line for customers who have filed a class action lawsuit, and there are none. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this, I think we should get together and do it. With the U.S. Economy in the tank, and a less than perfect credit rating, I think it is outrageous for banks, credit card companies and these scammers to hurt individual credit just because they can. If I could do it, I would hide my money, and never use a bank. Our economy does not operate that way, but I wish it did. I would not hurt my feelings if this bank or credit card agency, or whatever scammers they are would shut down completely.
unfair credit practice they up your limit and lower it without any notice at all! I had payment scheduled for the min to come out every month when due.after a few months went by I went to the account to see how much I owed(i don't really check to often on auto pay accounts).so when I go to check what I owed I was shocked to find out I owed more now than I did before without missing any payment.low and behold they lowered my limit wich caused me to be over the limit and charged me 35 bucks a month.......................please folks stick with capital 1 cause the synchrony bank is a bunch of crooks!
Sorry but these guys are total garbage, dealing with their customer service department is like pulling teeth. Had a bill that was due the 16th did the pay online through their website and they charged a 35.00 late fee for the bill going on the 16th.
It's ridiculous how credit card companies can get away with things like this. Tried to get the 35.00 refunded, was told you should have made the payment on the 15th, also interest rate was raised also. Companies like this should not be able to get away with ripping off the customer base like they do. I Also had 2 accounts with GEMoney that were paid on time and paid off at the end of the month or at least half of it was that had a decent balance and whenever I paid it off credit balance they lowered my credit limit on those cards all around just hard to deal with and garbage, not really sure how they have such a high rating with so many complaints..
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are horrible !!! I tell everyone I know. They will ruin your credit score and lower your limits without warning. Claiming they ran your report! Really no! In fact our scores went UP not Down and yet they lower it? Lies! Plus making payments on time, paying it off even ! Who does that to good clients ? I had a client who had a large limit and a high credit score. They lowered her 10,000 limit to 1000. When you do this your credit utilization is effected as well as your credit scores. I paid both my husbands and myselfs off. Never again!!!! I will stick to my [redacted] cards! Funny how they reply that someone will be in contact with you soon. Um how? Especially when that persons last name is merely an initial! Sorry but I work hard for my credit score and this is beyond rediculous. Like one girl said, ine day.late and they lowered her credit line. Good grief!
Worst, rude, useless customer service EVER. Called to inform not receiving my statements and did not receive my card. First representative (assuming not in US) would "hmm mm, hmm mm, hmm) after every word I said - so after the 4th time, I politely asked could you please stop saying "hmm mm" while I'm speaking and he continues to do so, I requested again as it is rude and he continues - I requested a supervisor who may understand English as a first language because it's clear either you do not or are purposely being rude. Get someone else and informed of not receiving mail and verified my address for at least the 7th time (no exaggeration) we went in circles about the address and still no resolve when I've been at the same address for over a decade and no other creditor/service I use have this issue. Pending the call back from a manager.
I have 2 credit cards backed by Synchrony Bank. I have had the same problem with both card when paying online. When I check the circle to pay off the last statement balance, it reverts back to the minimum payment choice. If you don't check very carefully before you submit, you are only paying the minimum and end up paying interest on the balance. They don't always send an email confirmation, so I was not aware of this until I received the next statement. Also, I paid one month and it was not posted at all, so I ended up paying a late fee as well as the interest. You have to really watch them and follow up on any online payments.
Issue up front:
there is no grace period on payment date. If the US mail system gets it there a day late you get a late fee charge - expensive one at that - appears to me to be the way they do in fact collect $s vice interest on their loan. My lack of analyzing the monthly bill I failed to notice their disclaimer of no grace period.
Background:
I got one of those yearlong interest free credit offers to buy a sleep numbers bed. The bank that made that offer was GE Capital. Somewhere along the line it ended up with Synchrony Bank. I admit I did not pay close enough attention to the billing as the South Dakota case manager lady very smugly pointed out. Case manager was very comfortable with the fine print under their due date notice of late fee up to $35.00 - makes me wonder why they are charging me $53.00 given I am sending them far more each month than the minimum payment.
I did not end the conversation convinced that the mail gets checked each and every day and if it lays in someone's inbox for a day - bingo - customer gets the late fee
extremely unhappy with this bank. I had a RUS card with chase, paid on time every month for years, then synchrony bought the card and JACKED up the interest rate from 14.5% to 27%!! I called to talk about it - they were very unhelpful, abrupt and rude
I have been trying to resolve a billing issue with Synchrony Bank for several days. I have been told when I have funds available in my bank they will process my credit card payment. My funds have been available for 2 weeks! I am being told to wait two days. I find no excuse for it to take up to 11 days to process a credit card payment. Other business process payments within 3 days with the time frame I am being given it may be Monday or Tuesday till this payment processes. I have had nothing but negative experiences with this business. Due to this I will no longer be continuing business with them nor the retailers that they sponsor. I highly encourage others to avoid any credit cards or banking services that are processed through this business.
I opened a store card with Amazon recently, thinking nothing of it as I've always had AMAZING experiences with Amazon directly. Had I known then who they would be offering the credit through I would have stopped before I began.
An incorrect mailing address was provided somewhere along the way (Amazon error that has been resolved to my satisfaction on their end) and when I got an email indicating that my store card's zip code was listed as 98008 I immediately called to have this corrected as well.
The first representative I spoke with this morning was wonderfully helpful, she verified my full name, social information, phone, full address and the address that was provided initially. It was in fact a very small error, one digit left off of the street making the address they had an undeliverable one - as in the post office does not even recognize it as a valid address and will not deliver mail to it. Unfortunately she couldn't assist with making sure a correct card was sent out to my updated address and that the previous card was cancelled out for security purposes so she had to transfer me to a different department.
The second representative was less than helpful, she clearly had difficulty hearing me, possibly difficulty understanding as I had to repeat myself a few times. Eventually she gets to telling me that she can't help me without calling me back or texting me - excuse me? Around roughly the 35 minute mark (a good 20 of it spent on hold) I come to find out from a purported supervisor that this is to run the name on the phone against my name in a database of some sort to verify who I am and that they simply will not help me without doing this.
All I want is to make sure a card with my name on it is not able to be picked up and used by someone else and to have the card delivered to my correct address. This doesn't seem like it should be so difficult, however I am currently minded to pay off my card and close the account, having had it open for less than a month, due to this situation.
I'm a BP Chase customer who was told my account was being switched from Chase to Synchrony. As of mid-May, I've been unable to access information about my account online with Chase. I can't set up a new online account with Synchrony until I receive my new card, which I was told would be mailed around the end of May to mid-June. It's now June 27th and I still don't have my new card. Communication has been poor, and overall I would say that this transition has been terrible!
Synchrony Bank is the biggest POS I have ever seen. I made payments on the Walmart and Old Navy cards early in the day on Friday (the 15th). I made sure they got made ASAP because my mortgage payment was gonna post to my bank account on the following Tuesday and would suck up any funds left in there. These is didn't process my payments until Tuesday and they posted on Wednesday (the 20th) even though I scheduled them for Friday. This caused me to incur two overdraft fees. What's the point of allowing me to schedule the payment for a certain date if they're not gonna process it till FIVE DAYS LATER??? When I called to complain, the supervisor I talked to (after I got "escalated") said it was my fault because I didn't manage my money well enough and proceeded to lecture me like a freaking school kid about being responsible and making sure I have the money in my account and not spending it until I'm sure all my payments have posted! When I said that I believe they also have a responsibility to process the payments when they're SCHEDULED TO and at least in a timely manner (FIVE DAYS IS NOT TIMELY) he just blew me off. SYNCHRONY BANK BLOWS DONKEYS.
Being a older woman in bad health I got a credit through PepBoys when I had a major breakdown on the highway. It was over $1400 and I thought it was being financed by PepBoys until I received a card with PepBoys name and Synchrony as the credit card bank.
I never attempted to contact them until the bill came through and it came in late inthe month and paid the minimum amount and all was fine the next month I had not received a bill from them and paid $50 which was a little less that what I paid the month but as there was no miniminum listed on line I really did not know how much to pay them and if they said it was too little I would send the additional amount and all would be fine. When thought that if it finally arrived I was wrong it was Synchrony telling me my account was past due and I would be charged a fee at no time did they tell me if you pay in Feburary before you get the bill then it counts as a payment for January and so you only paid us $18 of the bill for the month with the extra you sent in. So today I came in to find out by looking on the line if the bill had come through; it was still showing that I had not paid but $18 on my bill for Feburary even though I had spoken with someone who said that it would not charge a fee but they could not accept less than $44 for Feburary plus $68 for March. They have no intention of working with a customer.
I gave been given a loan from family to pay it and get out of $25 a month for late charge every month because if I send the the $68 that I owe them for March only then they will credit $44 of that to February and the balance to March and if I don't pay that by their date then I will get a service charge. It is insane and it is in complete disregard for their customer. I live on a very small SS payment and my money is carefully budgeted to the penny and they have taken my car issue and instead of helping me it has hurt me and I am angry.
I am sending a copy of this complaint to Symchrony Headquarters and to PepBoys Headquarters as well because I am nor sure they want this company representing themselves as Pep Boys credit. I can tell you that I am going to my personal bank that I have a very good relationship with and I am explaning this and will see if I can get a loan for enough to pay Synchrony in full and spread the word DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DEAL WITH PEPBOYS CREDIT OR SYNCHRONY BANK. Synchrony is a evil company that is out there ripping off people who have to get credit in order to keep their car running and then the rip them off for every fee that they can think of or manufacture out of their sick minds. They even had the nerve to tell me, whose son has a business writing programming for 3D, that a computer does not work that way. It is not the computer it is the company behind them who do not have programming built to do what they want it to do. Their computers work perfectely to steal from their customers and it is programmed as they have requested. The computer decides nothing they are told in code what to do. Get this SUNCHRONY AND PEPBOY not all of the people in your ripoff list are stupid..some of us get it and I am one of them. YOUR COMPUTER DOES NOT SET POLICY YOU DO AND YOU HAVE SET IT TO STEAL FROM INNOCENT PEOPLE TRYING TO PAY THEIR BILLS ON TIME AND RIGHT.
THIS TIME YOU PICKED ON THE WRONG ONE AND I WILL FIGHT YOU TOOTH AND NAIL AND LAUGH WHEN WE GET ENOUGH INFORMATION OUT THERE TO TAKE YOU DOWN. A COMPUTER IS A MIGHTY VOICE AND YOU ARE GOING TO BE WELL KNOWN IN THIS COUNTRY.
Although this bank provides credit for medical costs, it does not allow automatic reoccurring payments from a health savings account by debit card. You must call in monthly and speak.with a customer service rep. They only allow monthly reoccurring automatic payments from a checking account. Makes absolutely no sense.
I absolutely would tell everyone to close all accounts associated with this bank. I had a cc with Discount Tire paid it off in September, but wanted to keep it open for emergencies. They sent me a letter saying they closed the account due to derogatory credit, which is false I paid on time and paid it off. Couple months later I went to use my Sams club which was not near the balance and I could not because again without notice they took the credit limit down to what I had owed on it which, again causing my credit score to drop due to the fact that it showed the card maxed out. When I was realizing this was happening I contacted my credit union to get a card to pay off the Synchrony cards that I had. Low and behold the before the balance transfer went through they did the same thing to my Toys R Us credit card. Whenever I would call and ask what the problem was they said well we periodically check your credit report and your credit is not good enough. Mind you I have had the Discount Tire credit card and Sams Club card for about two years and always made more than the minimum or paid off the cards and paid on time. I would never recommend this bank because all they do is mess up your credit and make it look like you have maxed out everything.
My interest rate was increased from 18.24% to 23.99% When I called to ask why the first person I spoke with mislead me about who he worked for. He claimed to be a PayPal employee, but turned out he worked for Synchrony bank for PayPal accounts. I asked for a supervisor to explain the interest rate increase and she told me it was due to a prime rate increase. Pardon my ignorance but I believe the prime rate has remained fixed at 3.25% since December of 2008. When I mentioned this to the supervisor she changed her story and said my terms and conditions (whatever that means) had changed and nothing could be done about it. I believe the real reason is that they had to cover some fraudulent charges made on my card the same month my rate was increased.
A subpar customer service representative acted anxious and frustrated and raised her voice at me thoughout conversation because I recently experienced fraud and didn't want to share my all off my personal information with her to close an account that was opened in my name.
I spent 45 minutes entering all the info to open an account with Synchrony Bank this morning and when I finished I was directed to click a button to review my application. When I did I got a screen saying they were unable to process my order and I should try later or call a number. I called a number and the person who answered had no idea what was wrong. He thought maybe they were "down for maintenance." I asked him where all the personal info I entered was and he had no idea. What a bozo outfit. NO way would I recommend this outfit to anyone else.
I am just extremely LIVID with this bank. I travel for work frequently and a hold was placed on my acct for one of my cards. After calling them MULTIPLE times and validating my identity to every rep they still refuse to assist me since apparently my cell phone number is not matching what they have on files - HOWEVER I placed 2 previous calls over the past week and the reps were able to send me a passcode via text which worked. I ABSOLUTELY HATE this bank and the is that they hire. How are the rules different from rep to rep? Absolutely no consistency there. I do plan on closing ALL of my accounts that are affiliated with this bank.
