I like to pay my account in full before the expiry of promotional offer. I had autopay registered for the first of the month. The bank never deducted the amount. When I called customer service, they said that the autopay would not kick in because there was no amount due. I had already set up autopay and it shows up on my account. I paid another installment via the website and it has not gone through yet.
Had several credit cards with GE Capital before they got bought out by Synchrony Bank. Like several others I always gave my payments in advance did not realize they applied it to the prior month then got charged late fees.
But worst of all was the deferred interest. BEWARE all past interest will be added to your account along with other fees. Stay away from this.
I have been trying to open a savings account with this bank for two days now. I have official terminated my efforts. Today I was able to finally get their website to allow me into the site to enroll for their saving account sign-up. After entering ALL of my secure information and hit the submit button, the site said "you application has been terminated due to too much idle time"!?!?!? What the? I never hesitated at all. I went through this twice! No more, and I pisses me off that I have already given them all of my sensitive information and allowed them to ding my credit report! DO NOT INTERACT WITH THIS BANK!
I recently went with a friend to an HHGREG store as I was in need of new appliances to update my kitchen. After looking around and negotiating a deal with the sales clerk he said I could get an additional 10% off if I took a store credit card. I reluctantly agreed since I don't like the idea of store credit cards. My only exception had been The Home Depot Card.
The dollar amount of the purchase would have been in the neighborhood of $4000. My credit score at the time was 760. The card was denied. I moved on and purchased all the same items at the Home Depot and at a better final price. And by the way... I charged them on my HD Card.
A couple of weeks later I received the letter from synchrony bank explaining their reason for denying my credit. OK this is the reason I posted this comment... they said I am deceased.
I was so concerned that I went to the Social Security Death Records to see if I had indeed died. Nope... still alive.
I have had a PayPal Extras Master Card for several years. Dealing with them when they were part of GE Capital Bank wasn't always easy, but you could at least get through to somebody if you were persistent and patient enough.
Since GE became "SYNCHRONY BANK" their customer service has gone from just okay to horrible.
My card was recently hit with a fraudulent charge. They contacted me on October 31 to verify the charge. I confirmed that it was fraudulent. My card was cancelled, a new card was issued and I was promised a new card in 10 business days. Ten days passed, but no card arrived.
I tried contacting Synchrony customer service. I couldn't get through - kept getting a recorded message announcing "due to high call volume, we are not taking calls at this time." Got this message every time I tried to call. Finally called PayPal (their customer service is always superb) and they finally managed to connect me to Synchrony. Synchrony's service rep told me that a card had been issued, and I should receive it within the next three days. Three days passed * still no new card. Tried contacting Synchrony directly four more times.
Finally went back through PayPal, but even their calls weren't getting through. They had to make several attempts to finally connect me to Synchrony. Synchrony finally told me that my account had been permanently closed, and no new card would be issued. I would have to submit a new credit application. Had to resort to threats of war to get a supervisor who agreed to re-issue a card on my existing account. I was told I would see my new card "in seven to ten business days." Hopefully this time I actually get a new card, though I may still pay off the card and close the account. I just don't want to deal with this kind of headache again.
This process took DAYS of repeated unsuccessful attempts to resolve when it should have taken a single phone call to a competent customer service rep.
If you are considering doing business with Synchrony DON'T DO IT!!! Synchrony Bank's customer service ought to be prohibited by the Geneva Convention. It is nothing short of brutal torture. PayPal PLEASE FIND A NEW VENDOR FOR YOUR MASTERCARD SERVICE!!!
I did not know what it meant when synchrony bank took over GE Capital. I should have closed everything right away. I just found out that Synchrony Bank has been adding late fees to my credit card accounts because when I pay online on the day the payment is due, it was after 5 pm. What a scam!! I am a Purdue University employee, and have worked at the Krannert School of Management. I am not stupid in how businesses are supposed to work. I am not sure what is Synchrony bank is doing is legal. I am contacting the Revdex.com, I also am going to start an informative blog on You Tube and other consumer computer medias to warn people. I am calling the companies who are using Synchrony Bank to let them know of the consumer damage this bank is costing them. ( READ the Complaints!!)
Saying everything was going to be the same when they took over from GE was a lie, I never had this happen when I was with GE. I wonder if CNN would be intereste if I sent this to them as maybe a consumer warning! They are always looking for consumer fraud.
The customer service was inept with this bank. I had tried to figure available credit before Christmas and after 5-6 lengthy phone call was still unable to make heads or tails and the bank kept referring me back to the store, which has nothing to do with available credit.
Well, I can't even get them to give me my card. I have called them three times and verified my information with them, and each time it's been wrong. Three weeks after the last call, and I still don't have my card. I know that they're assessing late fees on my account because I can't log in to pay my account until I receive the card. It's been over three months and still no resolution. I already hate this place, and I haven't even seen my account yet.
I was a cardholder for Chevron for 49 years with an excellent credit standing never in 49 years any issues; however when synchrony took over the trouble begin. I had a problem with a third party check written from Wells Fargo bank which they admitted was their issue, this reoccurred two month later and all issues between wells fargo and my account with Chase bank were resolved. The problem was that synchrony bank would not accept any explanation they just cancelled the 49 year account with Chevron!!!! even though I paid in full the account on both occasions!! So I would rate them a F-!
I have never done business or had any contact with Synchony Bank. I received mailings regarding Chevron and Texaco Visa Cards which I do not now have or ever had concerning "Rooms to Go/synchrony Bank" Account concerning a monthly fee of $1.66 per $100 account balance.
I called bank customer service at 1-800-815-4051 and received no satisfaction of why I Received mailings and solicitation.
I believe this is a SCAM MAILING.
Made the mistake of gettting an Amazon credit card through this company. The first thing is they charge a ridiculous amount of interest, especially if you choose the 6 month 0% interest promotional financing, and do not pay it off in time, at which point they charge you the full interest. Yes it says so at the bottom of the terms in small print, so its my fault, but it still seems like a scam and false advertising, which should be illegal.
But I got over the interest, and am trying to pay it off, but now they are refusing to let me pay. I had my phone number change in the last few months, and every other bill I pay has not had a problem in this regard. At most I call them, confirm my identity, and change it. However, apparently this bank NEEDS your original phone number to prove your identity, and they refuse to let you prove it any other way. So then they will not let me log into their website or even pay by phone. All they said when I called was they would send me a letter about it, and I don't think that will solve it.
So basically, i'm waiting around while late fees rack up, while I want to pay it but they simply refuse to let me do so. It sounds like a huge scam and I have no idea how to get around it.
THE WORSE customer service I've ever experienced, no chat available, no live human being to take phone calls, hang ups from auto tellers, etc. etc. I have 5 credit cards with this bank and I'm cancelling every one of them as soon as I can get someone to call me back. Unfortunately they will NOT allow you to cancel them yourself, they must do it! FIGURES!!!
There is a reason that this place has 7 positive and 228 negative reviews, as of today. I have never received a shred of information from them regarding my account - via email or physical paper. I have always just had the payment automatically drafted from my other bank so I assumed all was well. I logged in today for the first time, to see how much I have left to pay, and I find A. that the name of the bank has changed completely, and B. that I owe $280 in LATE FEES.
I.
Was.
LIVID.
Where did that come from?! Again, I have NEVER received an iota of information from them, telling me anything was late, etc.
So I call the customer service line and after calmly explaining my situation.. well, as calm as I could.. they ended up taking off all of the late fees.. I hope. We'll see. I don't know how long it will take to update online but it better!
So I'm giving them a neutral review because even though it was initially a TERRIBLE experience, they ended up taking all the late fees off. Still seems pretty shady to me though - maybe while I was on hold she discovered that they actually never HAD sent me an email.. and that's why they took them off..
I spoke to Anna on 2/9/2015. I paid a late fee over the phone. She told me my due date was changed to the 18th of the month as it was originally set for the 10th. I clearly told her that I cannot get the money there on time. She said the next month would be the 10th and thereafter it would be the 18th. I have the confirmation number for that call.
I have since paid the $313.00 every month and is now paid off..... all $7000.00
Now you are telling me that I owe another $800.00 is late fees. Your money has been returned to you as paid. You did this to me when I borrowed money before. You are not going to do this to me again.
I have been with synchrony since feb, 2015. I bought a massage chair at local event with a payment 3 years free term no interest type of plan. I quit my job in april 2016, late payment in may, called and fixed in june. September they start calling me 3 times a day to tell me that my payment is late and I have not made adequate payments. I paid the late fee in june and caught everything up via phone. no email available per agent in india. Call in sept to clear it up , they were charging me 37 dollar late fees and raising my payments to over 200 dollars a m onth with no notification. I use a bill pay system and the agent in just said that july payments would go back to 130. so I programmed them for a year. The whoel entire account is a mess. The agent was rude and "fixed it ". Saying that I messed it up. Kept repeating account info that I did not request, kept me on the phone asking stupid questions that I did not want answered. I was not being treated in a respectful manner, nor appreciated my questions not being addressed. He stated taht we resolved all issues and I was to pay 136.68 in september and oct payment would go back to 130. so I fixed my bill pay accordingly as instructed. My bill arrived this weel and the payment is 169. added late fees again noted and its still a mess. I spoke with agent [redacted] agent number [redacted] today and she said she removed all late fees and this is my final worning and this is the last time!!!! what I did nothing to deserve this mess!! She stated just pay it and next month you will drop to 130. again. She refused to let me speak with manager, refused email info to give me to call ceo or email higher ups. I feel like I borrowed money from land shark. Help!!
This is racket practice. Their promotional expiration comes without notice and then retroactive interest changes of nearly 30% wipes out whatever payment that one has had made. The experience of just being shafted by this robbery called credit has been extremely eye opener, and I make sure the social media picks up on this.
This bank or financial institution should be looked at under RICO statutes.
I have an account with this Bank. My account was originally with GE Capital My credit limit was 3500.00 and they reduced to 1500.00. they sebd a letter that hasn`t arrived. this is ridiculous. I want to cancel my account because that have a impact on my credit. The customer service is rude and unhelpfull. I hate loosing my credit limit. This sounds like a very crappy organization. I will probably cancel my account .
I had a credit card with Synchrony Bank since it was GE Bank. Unfortunately due to my spouse losing his job, I fell behind on payments and was unable to make the minimum payment due. I called Synchrony requesting a repayment plan based on financial hardship. To make an upsetting situation worse, I was told that they cannot offer any repayment program for me at the time. When asked when I should try again, I was told maybe a month. Thanks a lot Synchrony. I appreciate your understanding and assistance.
Synchrony Bank are liars. I had a credit card, originally obtained through GE Money for 2 years and always paid on time if not before it was due. The account was holding a zero balance and low and behold, they cancelled the account stating that my credit score was too low. Saying my credit score was a 587 which is NOT accurate. I have been re-building my credit for a series of several years now so I check it regularly. My score from TransUnion is almost 670. They stated in their letter that they obtained my score from TransUnion. Liars caused my score to drop 6 points because they cancelled this card! I talked to them and all they would say is that the decision was a business decision and nothing more! I will NEVER do business with these people again! [redacted] should use another company instead for their Store Card. I have a [redacted] Chase card that I would rather use anyway, but they had not business to treat me as though I had poor credit still!
Synchrony Bank routinely holds matured certificate of deposit funds 1 extra day past the maturity date before they will BEGIN to process the redemption.. If the maturity date is on a Friday - they don't start till Monday. Then, if one elects to receive the funds by ACH transfer, it will take up to 10 days after the maturity date to reach your local bank account. They do not initiate the ACH transaction promptly and then code the ACH transfer to take effect into your account at least 2 days after they submit the ACH transfer when next-day effective date is available. Factoring in the fact that they do not deem the funds matured on the maturity date stated on the CD, the ACH stonewalling, and weekends, good luck in receiving the funds promptly. Too bad if you had immediate plans for the matured funds - just out of luck. All complaints regarding this abusive process are met with stonewalling and highly scripted responses by the Synchrony folk, so save your breath.
