Navient is threatening to take my tax refund over a dent I didn't even know existed. I thought I paid this loan off over a year and a half ago. I called and offered to settle the debt for what I owe minus their extremely bogus collection fees. They refused to discuss. I hung up on them and have filed reports and complaints with government agencies.

Problem:
I had multiple student loan accounts with another company that were sold(?) to Navient. My previous loan company allowed for loans to be deferred until 9 months after graduation. The new company does not honor this previous agreement and wants a $1400/month payment while I am still in school. I am employed part-time and do not make enough to pay this monthly amount. Navient does not allow income-based payments either. I filed a Revdex.com complaint regarding this matter approximately 2.5 weeks ago. A representative from Navient called me and stated that they could work with me to try to cut my payments in half once all of my and my cosigner's income could be provided to him. I gave him my cosigner's number and she never received a call. The representative also told me that he would call me back in two days and I have not heard from him. I called the company yesterday to inquire about this and was told the the rep would call me before the end of the business day. I did not receive a call. My $1400 payment is due in less than a month and I trying to work with a company that will not communicate with me.

Desired Outcome:
I would like to speak to a representative and have my monthly payment either deferred until I have graduated or lowered to a price that I can afford. They are setting me up for default. I did not sign up for this.

I have a payment that was made in October, site showed that payment had not been made. I contacted the company they stated payment had not been made, I showed them verification of payment with cleared check and they made no contact with me after that, no sorry, no admit of mistake, nothing. This company is shady and should be monitored and I know several friends had the same thing happen with this company just recently as I started asking around with my friends that I knew had school loans. If I wasn't diligent about checking my acct they would have gotten away with this. Their interest practices are so confusing that I can't keep up with those at all!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

1. It is now March 25th and have yet to receive "official response".

2. Why is there a need to protect the privacy of the customer? The customer, myself, is the one disclosing all required information to submit a complaint. Privacy for the customer, myself, is clearly not the concern in Navient's response, but more as a means to not divulge details of the issue publicly. Navient is showing only concern for their interest and privacy by not submitting an official response to the Revdex.com detailing the lack of urgency in resolving this issue and the severity of communication breakdown within their agency.

3. On March 12th Navient Representative [redacted], contact number [redacted] called me directly and stated that within 24 to 72 hours the full refund amount would be deposited into my bank account.

4. On March 16th $111.42 was deposited into my bank account leaving and outstanding refund balance of $30.

5. On March 16th I contacted Navient Representative [redacted] and was informed it would be an ADDITIONAL 24-72 hours before the outstanding balance was deposited.

6. As of 9pm on March 25th an outstanding refund of $30 has yet to be deposited into my bank account.

7. It has been 27 days since 141.42 was stolen from my bank account by Navient Account Services and it has yet to be returned in the full amount. Navient's method of hanging this has shown no interest in returning the funds had not over 17 phone calls totaling in over 40 hours of time be invested. It is clear that had I not been committed to having this corrected Navient would have retained the funds illegally.

Navient was neither open to or willing to work on finding a solution. In so many words, I was told "it was their way or no way."
During the times that I requested a forbearance on this Parent Plus loan, it was due to financial difficulties. I was my mother's caregiver and the sole source of income for both of us for more than 11 years. I, too, returned to school and am repaying my student loan. During my many calls to Navient, never did their 'rude' service representatives suggest I refinance my loan with Direct Loan. Now, that there is more than $50K in interest, Karen, the service representative, makes the suggestion. When my Parent Plus loan was transferred from Regions Bank to Navient, it was $73K.
I would like the interest and the monthly fees renegotiated. I have never dealt with a 'reputable' business that does not work with you when you have extenuating circumstances. As well, Karen stated they could charge these fees because it is what the federal government does.  Really!! Navient is operating a loan company, not a steward for reputable banks.

They claim that We had spoken about my account, this is untrue, I paid the $7000 and was under the impression it was all going toward the principle. Never did they tell me more than half was going toward interest. They also claim a year later I called and requested a deferment, also not true. From the time I paid the $7000 until about a month ago we never spoke. Even if I did request a deferment why have they never contacted me or updated it like they're suppose to every year? I contacted them a month ago when I saw this on my credit and I called them. They they send me a past due balance for $70

I received a voicemail from the Office of the Customer Advocate asking for a return call.  However, I have been leaving voicemails for the past month with no response.  I also received a letter stating the issue was resolved, yet this next month's statement is still incorrect.  This is professionally unacceptable, both with the lack of follow up and the continued inability to allocate funds correctly.

Problem:
I have 3 separate loans with Navient and have previously always enjoyed doing business with them. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that they were reporting that I was late on my payments. As a college student I do not have much on my credit report aside from these 3 accounts with Navient. I had payments reflecting as late which are now on my report, which are inaccurate as all of my payments were deferred. These late payment inaccuracies have now stopped me from being able to do anything with my credit. I was told that all of these would be deferred. I called and spoke to [redacted] Id: E75057 who was nice, but unable to help me. She didn't seem to understand the deferment process. I gave her the dates the late payments were reflecting and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor is named [redacted]'s ID number is E64170 according to [redacted]. He refused to take my call and stated that he would only speak to me if I uploaded information to the Navient website or sent him the information for him to review. I promptly sent the information via fax and called back to confirm receipt. I spoke to [redacted] whose ID number is E64347. I asked to speak to [redacted], but no one was able to locate him. When I asked for another supervisor, Dee's supervisor found [redacted] who then refused to take my call and told me he would give me a call the following business day. Ultimately, I am a student who was hoping these loans would help me build my credit profile. Navient has hindered my score in what seems to be an attempt for me to stop getting other lines of credit while diminishing my current credit record. If you are a student looking to build credit with your student loans you may want to skip past Navient.

They still have only sent me partial documentation for my loans.

Have had my student loans transferred to them. Horrible. Have been trying to get my income payment approved for over 6 months keep saying I need to send things then they expire prior to their review! In the mean time my interest is growing! Unfair practice, horrible customer service.

I never received a response in the mail from the business. The items are still showing on my credit report.
