I just moved back to Wilmington NC July 31st, I had, who I thought was ADT, come out to install an alarm system from an ad I sawthey were promising the moon and starsWhen I tried to call, I find out it is Defenders/ ADTThe doorbell camera didn’t work, we were told to give it hoursWhat a jokeI was on the phone being transferred many times by very rude peopleI ask that the system be removedA “supervisor” appeared at my door an hour before they were due to remove that systemWell, again I was promised the moon$in Visa cards and an extra 20% offPlus we got their “personal” cell numbers to call anytimeWhat a jokeWe called and left text messages but no replyStill haven’t seen the 20% discountThey have changed the door bell camera and it still does not work and the system is having a hard time connecting with our IPhone Of course it is the phones faultAnother service tech is due to come tomorrow! If I had another chance I would NOT choose this companyThey will promise anything until your days are up to reject the contract and then as usual you can’t get in touch with themIt was installed August 3rd and so far I have had techs and a supervisor, doorbell cameras and alarm pads and they still do not workPlease don’t believe everything you read or hearThey also ran a hard copy check with equaifax which I was told ADT had a contract with equalifax and it would not go on my credit as a hard copyLieIt certainly didI am sorry I ever got involved with this company
On Dec1, we had purchased ADT Security Services & had purchased cameras & their pulse system to monitor the camerasWe decided that the cameras were were not needed & called ADT to have them removed along with the Pulse service We were to receive a $refundDefenders handles the billing for ADTThis was in January, I have called & spoke to various individuals who assured me that they would call me backNo calls have been receivedI spoke with a Christina in the Accounts Services (she is the head of the Dept) She said she would call me today at noon (2/28/17) At 12:I called & asked to be connected to herI was disconnected twiceI did finally left her a messagewaiting for a call back! Still no $299.00!
On 1/16/a representative from ADT came to our home at *** *** *** *** To install alarm system ,my husband Edward Collins booked the appt .over the phone ,from a ad we received in the mailThe representative spoke with us briefly ,we then walked around the house and showed him where we wanted the sensors put as advertised, He removed our system which was working and due to expire 5/31/2016.He put our new system in then said he had to check outside and would be back shortly,about mins later he came back in said he did a survey and said we needed a much more expensive system we told him no our old system only gave us doors the advertised system would give us doors and Windows which was more than adequate When we refused the expensive system he said he could only put in sensors for the doors and Windows , I told him he should have said this before removing my old system which was $ a year we would never changed our system to pay $a year for ex
My daughter purchased a new home in December of and I thought that a great Christmas gift would be the purchase of a new alarm system I viewed several security alarm advertisements however the advertisement from the ADT company looked like an excellent deal (free home security system, 7-free pre-wired door or window sensors, free $visa gift card and free keypad) All of the items were listed as an $value but listed at a selling price of $ I arranged for an appointment for December 30th At the time of initial contact with ADT, I was informed that because my deceased spouse had been a previous customer, that we were going to receive an additional credit of about $(the credit could be used to purchase additional equipment)
On December 30th, I was present upon the arrival of the installer but stayed only long enough to explain what I wanted to have installed, paid the $instillation fee and at that time changed the name on the account to that of my daught
My equipment was installed on Oct.31,2016, when the technician quoted me the price of the installation it was much higher than what was quoted on the phone 2days priorI was told on the phone it was a month, when the technician came it was per month I paid for installation on,Oct.31stwhen he came to my home I paid and additional for a sensor on my sliding door I was not understanding the extra fees that the tech.was telling me, I called DefendersThey explain to me all the extra fees that wasn't told to me priorAnd on the next day Nov.1, I was going to be charged for Octand Novmy argument to them was how are you going to charge me for Octon the 31st when the tech was at my home that evening installing the equipmentOn Nov29th, I called defenders to ask if I could change my due to the end of the monthThey stated that was due date was Dec.25thSo I said to the lady, so the next time I am charged is n the 25th of DecShe stated yes
I had a security system I thought would be installed by ADT, but they use "Defenders DBA Protect your Home" as a third party vendorDue to the large number of windows in the back of my house, the most cost effective measure would be a glass break sensorI asked multiple times if a dog's bark would set it off, but was assured it wouldn'talarms & visits from technicians later reveled that my dog parking is setting off the alarmI was told by their representatives that if they made house calls regarding the same problem (and couldn't resolve it), I could cancel my contract (they record their conversations and I know the times I spoke to them so it can be pulled)After the third tech came (last techs advised the glass break sensor never should have been put in!) ADT technician was at my hone today and to discuss the new security system they were selling and If I agree they will do an installHe visited my home and told me he would like to check if the signal is reachable in my home before any installationI told him I will not be taking any installation with proper documentation and signatureHe said it is just a checkHe dismantlement my existing security system without my authorization and then started saying there is no power supply and he will need to move the panel, I disagreed to move the panel and after a lot of discussion decided I don't want the system and told them to put the system back to the state it wasHe put the power back and said he has not touched anything in the panelI disagreed as I got an alert that panel was tampered (as below)

On 8/27/18, I received an mailer from ADT advertising a $per month special I phone and spoke with an agent and confirmed that the monthly rate would be $per month for the term of the month contract Still a little leery, the agent connected me to her supervisor Again, I asked about the $per month He confirmed and to sweeten the pot, added in a smoke detector and extra key fob and a credit that could be used for additional upgrades I agreed and scheduled installation for 8/30/ The installer came as scheduled, walked through the interior and exterior of my home to make addition security recommendations He then spent a great deal of time "selling" additional equipment He finally began installation of the panel and sensors that were a part of the package Five hours later he presents me with the paperwork that indicated that the monthly rate would actually be $per month finally disclosing that this was the price if I had a land line At no point
Defenders is an ADT contracted companyBoth ADT and Defenders runs a bait and switch operationThey mislead and withhold information on their ads and then do completely different thingsFor example, my contract says + tax which would be around $52, but my account was charged We were also told that there was no installation fee and all of the equipment would be covered since we are new customers, but once the tech arrived at our home he drilled a hole in our wall AND then told us that it would e $for all of the equipmentIn NY and as part of the contract, you have business to cancel servicesWe have faxed the required cancellation letter every single day multiple times and every time we call them to double confirm that they got our letter they mysteriously hang up on usThey also claim that we have to talk to ADT while ADT claims we have to talk to DefendersAll in all, they are doing everything in their power to stop people from cancelling within days for the full money back garanteeAvoid both ADT and Defenders at all costsThey are a complete fraudI can't believe they have an A on Revdex.comThey are insult to all businesses
The company was advertising ADT monitoring for $a monthA technician by the name of Michael C*** came to my home and promised me that I can get the ADT pulse service for the same price of $a monthThere was also a promise of $refund amount that I never received Upon receiving my first bill, I was billed a charge of $ I contacted ADT And was told that that is my monthly rate, but it is actually $a month When I filed a complaint with ADT that that was not the advertise price nor was it the promise price, I was told that it was in my contract that I pay $a month I had days to cancelWhen I stated that I want to cancel my service because I was promised something different, they said that my three day cancellation was up, I’m locked in to two yearsIf I were to cancel I would pay over $to cancel the serviceThey did offer to downgrade my system so that I can pay the $a monthThey sent a technician to my home to do soThen they off
I called ADT Defenders on 1/10/to inquire about a home security system and wanted someone to come to my home to discuss such a systemI was told over the phone that I needed to give them my credit card number before anyone could come outI said that I did not want my card charged because I only wanted an estimate and had not decided on a specific company or secuirty systemA "manager" came on the line and said that my credit card would not be charged because they didn't have my "security code" on the back of the card So, I told them my credit card number and made an appointment for last Sautrday, 1/13/

I cancelled service with Defender's dba Protect Your Home on June 20, within contract stipulations and I've yet to received a refund Will refer to Defender's dba Protect Your Home as simply Defender's for brevity
The contract provided to me by Defender's states refunds will be returned to customer within business days. The signed/dated cancellation notice was faxed to Defender's from a local *** *** with their acceptance on June 20, at 8:PM, complying with the terms of the contract
One part of the refund, a $charge is supposed to come from ADT, who did nothing because Defender's didn't notify them I cancelled. Another part of the refund is $104.94, from Defender's. This refund was credited to my account while my bank was in the process of increasing my credit limit. The account number was the same but had a different expiration date and security code. The refund could not be processed because of this.&n

This letter is in response to the complaint #*** filed by *** ***By way of background, Defender Security Company DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systemsWe have been an ADT authorized dealer since that sells and installs ADT monitored security systemsOnce the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT
We have researched into Ms***’s complaint and located her account. Our records show we installed an alarm system for her back on November 26, at *** *** ** *** **. We do have a valid contract signed at that timeI’ve attached a copy for your records. We do show that page and were sent back to her in January to initial the correct monthly rate of $47.99, but she failed to initial those pages. However, the contract she signed on November 26, is valid and will be enforced
Further records show ADT cancelled the account for non-payment and referred the balance to us for collection efforts. Since our in-house collections team was unsuccessful, the account was referred to an outside collection agency of *** * ***. Unfortunately we cannot provide the resolution she seeks. Collection attempts will continue for this outstanding balance of contract.
We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration that the consumer may have experienced and we appreciate the opportunity to address her concerns
