Jefferson Capital Systems LLC have been engaging in illegal fraudulent activities as far as 2011 to my knowledge in which that year they muled acct which were fraudulently placed inconsumers names. I have never done any type of business with this company, nor do I owe them any money. They have provided me with no goods or services. They reported that I have late payments with them for the past 2 months, on my credit report. I have not entered into any contractual agreements with them.

I was contacted via phone by this company stating that I owed money to Verizon Wireless. I got off the phone with them to contact Verizon because I didn't have an account with them ever and they found my identity was compromised, closed that account and said they would be taking care of everything. I then kept receiving phone calls and items in mail stating I need to pay them. I called and stated that this was found to be fraud and needed to be handled. I spoke with them 2 months ago and this is still not handled. They said a claim was being made and they would have the investigation team reach out to me. Well I wanted to talk to the investigation team because I had proof from Verizon that I wasn't liable for this debt. She said that they don't take calls. Makes no since if they are an "investigation team" they should take calls so they can get proper documentation. What else are they going to investigate? I need this to be handled now. I have proof I am not liable for this debt, and I keep getting spinned in circles with them. One guy went as far as saying he would transfer me, and then transferred me to the IRS. Seriously?!?!

Ms.:
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We have responded to you via email regarding the steps we are taking, which we hope will resolve this matter to your satisfaction.

I recently discovered a debt from Jefferson Capital Systems on my Credit reports. It appears this has been negatively affecting my credit for many years. This was a debt from a cell phone account that was paid by a former corporation and when I left the company, there should have been no bill associated with my name. Instead I have a debt in collections that should've never been there negatively impacting me for years.

My husband R K and I are being charged for a Verizon Wireless Account. Verizon Wireless has since sold to Jefferson Capital. Jefferson Capital is reporting a balance on both my husband and myselfs credit score. They are reporting an almost $600 difference between his credit and mine for the same exact account in question. They are also reporting different dates on his credit and mine for the same exact account in question. Jefferson Capital is reporting multiple discrepancies on R K and Destyni Ks Credit and we will not tolerate this. This needs to be removed from both his credit and my credit until a SIGNED contract can be mailed with ACCURATE information regarding dates and balance owed can be provided.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

A final bill is not verification of debt. I asked for proof of debt with a SIGNED original contract. Please be aware that we have contacted Verizon Wireless and were directed to the fraud department for R Ks $1,800 balance. Verification was unable to be established. There was no social security number or address linked to R Ks account. This balance was made fraudulently and if need be a police report will be filed.

Sincerely,

R*** K

I am writing this because I have been in contact with them for over a year now without being able to reach the agreement that we talked about a year ago. I held up my end of the bargain and they need to do their part. Last year I spoke to them on the phone and we came to an agreement of that I would pay what they were asking and them they would close the account, mark it as paid in full and remove it from my from my credit report. They have done none of that. They continue to call, email, and send me stuff in the mall asking me for more money even though we had an agreement where I held up my end and paid what they asked for.

I believe this company has committed an FDCPA violation. Jefferson Capital put collection on my credit reports without my knowledge and in doing so, this violated the FDCPA Collection Practice by placing a collection account on my credit report without sending a letter to me. When this debt was finally revealed to me, I called to get information and they would not/ could not supply me with an account number, or a reasonable way to log in to their system, to verify the debt they claimed I had. I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information: 1. Full original Account Number 2. Date original Account was opened 3. Any written agreements between myself and the original creditor stating this debt is owed 4. Full account summary and itemized calculation of alleged debt 5. Date of the first delinquency 6. Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to an agency, and so proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law. If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, I'm requesting this account be deleted from all CRAs. Jefferson Capital Systems also failed to follow FDCPA by not sending a letter giving the consumer time to dispute or validate the alleged debt within the allowed 30-day time frame that is allowed by law.

I am reaching out in regards to a debt you are trying to collect. This debt is being reported to my credit. I have twice disputed the date/accuracy of this account, because I have no knowledge opening an account in 2017, which is what you are reporting on my credit. Please supply the information below so that I can be fully informed:

Why you think I owe the debt and to whom I owe it, including:

•The name and address of the creditor to whom the debt is currently owed, the account number used by that creditor, and the amount owed.
•If this debt started with a different creditor, provide the name and address of the original creditor, the account number used by that creditor, and the amount owed to that creditor at the time it was transferred. When you identify the original creditor, please provide any other
name by which I might know them, if that is different from the official name. In addition, tell me when the current creditor obtained the debt and who the current creditor obtained it from.
•Provide verification and documentation that there is a valid basis for claiming that I am required to pay the debt to the current creditor. For example, can you provide a copy of the written agreement that created my original requirement to pay?
•If you are asking that I pay a debt that somebody else is or was required to pay, identify that person. Provide verification and documentation about why this is a debt that I am required to pay.

The amount and age of the debt, including:

•A copy of the last billing statement sent to me by the original creditor.
•State the amount of the debt when you obtained it, and when that was.
•If there have been any additional interest, fees or charges added since the last billing statement from the original creditor, provide an itemization showing the dates and amount of each added amount. In addition, explain how the added interest, fees or other charges are expressly authorized by the agreement creating the debt or are permitted by law.
•If there have been any payments or other reductions since the last billing statement from the original creditor, provide an itemization showing the dates and amount of each of them.
•If there have been any other changes or adjustments since the last billing statement from the original creditor, please provide full verification and documentation of the amount you are trying to collect. Explain how that amount was calculated. In addition, explain how the other changes or adjustments are expressly authorized by the agreement creating the debt or permitted by law.
•Tell me when the creditor claims this debt became due and when it became delinquent.
•Identify the date of the last payment made on this account.
•Have you made a determination that this debt is within the statute of limitations applicable to it? Tell me when you think the statute of limitations expires for this debt, and how you determined that.

Details about your authority to collect this debt.
•I would like more information about your firm before I discuss the debt with you. Does your firm have a debt collection license from my state? If not, say why not. If so, provide the date of the license, the name on the license, the license number, and the name, address and telephone number of the state agency issuing the license.
•If you are contacting me from a place outside my state, does your firm have a debt collection license from that place? If so, provide the date of the license, the name on the license, the license number, and the name, address and telephone number of the state agency issuing the license.

I have asked for this information because I have some questions. I need to hear from you to make an informed decision about your claim that I owe this money. I am open to communicating with you for this purpose. In order to make sure that I am not put at any disadvantage, in the meantime please treat this alleged debt as being in dispute and under discussion between us.

If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, this account must be terminated and deleted from all CRAs.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Jefferson Capital appeared on all three of my credit reports in early March. I did not receive any correspondence until late March, which was a letter dated March 14, 2020. I check my mail daily, so me missing it isn't possible. The letter talked about debt settlement on an old Verizon bill from 2017, that I had already disputed with Verizon and it was never added to my credit report as delinquent until this company gained control of it somehow. This letter was not a validation of debt letter, as it talked about actions in respect to the debt. The wording of the letter was threatening. I attempted to contact them after seeing this debt on my report, before even receiving the letter. I was put on hold, transferred and eventually hung up on. They are very rude and not helpful at all. I decided to send hem a letter, and also decided to file this complaint with the Revdex.com. I have also started disputes with the credit bureaus. Jefferson Capital Systems LLC has violated my rights under the FDCPA. They never sent me a debt validation letter, which left me zero chance to fight back before this was added to my credit report. This has brought my credit down many points even though it is the only negative item on my report. I think this company is not practicing legally. It is not okay to report things and not give someone a fair chance to respond. I always pay my bills on time. This one thing is ruining my reputation for credit. I wanted to start here first, but feel like if this doesn't work I may consult with an attorney to have this removed from my credit report. I do not want to take that route though, as it is expensive. Companies like Jefferson Capital LLC should not be in business if they can't operate fairly and legally according to debt collection law.

I am a 100% disabled veteran and have recently managed to stabilize my life after periods of homelessness. Part of continuing this process of stabilization is addressing debts. A debt with Jefferson is the last that appears on my credit report. The derogatory mark is from a Verizon account back in 2015 that I had briefly before becoming homeless and having my phone stolen. The current balance, $2,642, seems to be MUCH higher than what I recall at the time of losing the phone nearly 5 years ago. I also have NEVER received written correspondence of any sort notifying me of the debt or of Jefferson assuming said debt. With that said, I am looking to clear this debt and return my credit to where it should be. I am willing to pay much more than is owed due to the inflated balance and pay said balance in full. I would ask that, in return, this old debt be removed from my report.

In April 2018, a collection was added to my account from Jefferson Capital Systems. The only reference number I have is *** , from my credit, I have never received a letter or call. I have attempted to dispute several times because I have no knowledge of this debt. I was not given notice that the collection was being added to my credit reports, which is a FDCPA violation. I am requesting the following information: 1. I also was not given the 30 day period to respond before the collection was added, which is a right guaranteed to me by law. If the above mentioned information cannot be verified, your collection must be deleted from all 3 credit reporting agencies. Thank you

This company falsely reported dates of an account being opened on my credit report and claiming it to be true even after being disputed. They are practicing illegal tactics and violating consumer rights. Beware, a quick search on the internet will show that this company is scamming people, and being pursued for their sketchy methods by attorneys.

I have disputed the account with Jefferson due to I have no knowledge of the account. I have also asked on numerous occasions for Original documents with my signature validating that I owe the debt and to have it removed off all three reports due to it is incorrectly reporting to bureaus. I cannot seem to get a response back that includes my request.
