Jefferson Capital Systems Reviews (%countItem)

Jefferson Capital Systems (JCS) outsourced a collection that they owned to another company. Through this process I reached out to JCS in order to resolve this debt and they referred me to their partner group. I contacted the partner and have settled this debt but JCS has updated my credit report to show that I have only paid a portion of the debt and that the rest is still owed. (I have also reached out to the group that JCS outsourced this debt too, they have promised to close the debt multiple times but have provided inconsistent timelines and have yet to complete this). This is also showing as an open account and has shown as still in collections for another month outside of the month when I made the settlement agreement and completed the payment.

I told them that this debt doesn’t belong to me. It was for my ex husband and to stop calling me due to the fact that I don’t have the money to pay it and gave the information for the person who is at fault for this debt and they have continuously called me four to five times a day leaving voicemails at least a day.

JCS added collection to my credit reports without notifying me in writing and without my knowledge. I have never received any communication from Jefferson Capital Systems. This is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information.
1. Who was the original creditor on this account, and what was the account number?
2. What was the original amount owed? Please provide a complete payment history, starting with the original creditor.
3. Please provide me documentation that indicates that I agreed to pay someone this sum of money.
4. What was the original date of delinquency for this account?
5. Agreement that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt, or proof of acquisition by assignment.
6. What did you pay for this account, and how did you calculate the current amount owed?

If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, this account must be deleted from all CRAs.

7. Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to an agency, and so proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law.

Jefferson Capital Systems also failed to follow FDCPA by not sending a letter giving the me time to dispute or validate the alleged debt within the allowed 30-day time frame that is allowed by law.

This Item should not be on my credit Report . I also advised the creditor that this item should not be on my credit report. I sent in a request for extension on payment with Exeter finance and to tag the payment to the end of the note agent received the request and verified everything was okay. I also continued to make payments. I did not hear anything from Exeter until months later and they stated that the request was expired, which I had no knowledge of. I believed that it was in good standing. After I advised them that their agent confirmed everything went through. They eventually collected the car. I believe this company used my hardship of losing my mother to capitalize on my situation.

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned to them I know they buy these loans for pennies on the dollar, I don't know. Most irresponsible, disorganized, self-profiting, unprofessional shyster company ever. Won't return calls. Won't be given concise information from the people who answer the phones: I'm just pushed around with a promise of a call back. It's been over a week. They placed a garnishment because I wasn't able to accept their high payment demand and I was released from my job of 10 years until I get the garnishment cleared up; hence I not only have no income but they have nothing to garnish. And yet they are still dismissing my request for information and repayment options. I do not understand why ruining someone's life is the priority over getting something of a payment. I have told everyone at this company who I've talked to about this and yet still no call back. I have left daily voicemails for the attorney who placed the garnishment and still no call back. Was told to speak with the person who does garnishments - information I could have been told days ago - and still no call back. This company is questionable and out for their own greed without question. American G should look into them along with every other consumer protection agency. Disgusting.

They are attempting to collect a debt I dont even owe! This is false information and this needs to be off my credit report! This bill was paid and shouldnt even be in collections!

Jefferson Capital began reporting on my credit bureaus around January 2019 an amount of $780 owed for a First Access credit card that I am not aware of. When I called Jefferson Capital and spoke with one of their representatives about it, she said it was regarding a $250(ish) balance on a $500 limit credit card. I have not owned a credit card for many many many years, and have no recollection of ever owning a First Access credit card. And if there was only a $250 balance on the card when it was closed, why would the amount owed be $780? The Jefferson Capital representative who I spoke to on the phone on 02/19/20 even admitted in our recorded phone conversation that there were fees attached to it that she didn't understand. This is reporting to all 3 credit bureaus, although I have never received any proof of validity of this debt.

I called in last week to settle my collection account. I was informed by the young lady on the phone that I was approved to settle the balance for $300. After paying immediately on the phone, she told me that in about 3 days it will be deleted from my credit report. Instead, they are reporting it as $300 paid and have still left a balance. I took them at their word but clearly should have gotten it in writing before giving them access to my bank account.

Jefferson Capital Systems apparently purchased a old debt from First Access, which is a credit card company I had more than 3 years ago that was charged off. As of November 2019, Jefferson began reporting late payments on my credit report and marked that this purchased debt was a new account created in July 2019. The false report of new late payments has dramatically brought my FICO score down significantly due to this fraudulent and unethical practice of parking "new" delinquent payments and impeding my ability to obtain a VA home loan, by showing I have "late payments" within the last 2 years I began repairing my credit by reestablishing consistent payments.

For the past few months this crooked company has somehow decided that they were going to violate my rights as a consumer by illegally collecting on a Verizon account that has been discharged for years through bankruptcy. I have sent three letters, and two disputes regarding this. There has been ZERO correspondence back regardless of the amounts of valid proof sent to these is stating that this collection is not only invalid, it’s ILLEGAL!

JCS sent me a letter stating I owe them $193.00 from an old Marathon Petroleum Comp account. This was settled with Marathon many years ago being we could not refinance our home mortgage until we did.

Upon obtaining my credit reports from Experian, Equifax and Transunion, I see Jefferson Capital put collection on my credit reports without my knowledge and in doing so, this violated the FDCPA Collection Practice by placing a collection account on my credit report without sending a letter to me. I have sent multiple letters through the U.S.P.S and have yet to receive a response from them. The report states the original creditor as DriveTime. Upon calling DriveTime, they were unable to locate any record of an account with my name or social security number. Jefferson Capital Systems also failed to follow FDCPA by not sending a letter giving me time to dispute or request debt validation of the alleged debt within the allowed 30-day time frame that is allowed by law.

They are reporting an open date of August 4, 2015. To my knowledge,I have had no accounts with Jefferson Capital or DriveTime with that date.

In my letters to Jefferson Capital, I requested they verify the following information.
1. Full original Account Number
2. Date alleged original Account was opened
3. Any written agreements between myself and the alleged original creditor stating this debt is owed
4. Full account summary and itemized calculation of alleged debt
5. Date of alleged first delinquency
6. Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to an agency, and so proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law.

My credit report shows the account number as follows: ***xxxxxxx on two of the 3 major credit bureaus. I have been unable to find a full account number with Jefferson Capital Systems. The other credit bureau shows no account number and states the account is closed. The last four digits of my Social Security Number are ***.

This is to serve as written communication the Jefferson Capital is not to make any contact by phone to any numbers they may have associated with the account. All communication should be done through the USPS or through email at ***.

For several years Jefferson Capital Systems has been reflecting a collection account on my credit reports that I have previously disputed and will continue disputing until I have received %100 validation and verification that this is indeed a valid debt, and even then will continue researching and litigating the legality of the collected attempts as I truly believe I am not responsible for said debt and proper collection attempts were not followed.

In conformance to my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), I am requesting you to provide me with a validation of the debt. This is not a refusal to pay, rather a statement that your claim is disputed, and validation is demanded. I request that your office provide me with complete documentation to verify that I owe the said debt and have any legal obligation to pay you. I demand you provide me with the following:

The full original Account Number. •Date the original Account was opened. •Agreement with the creditor that authorizes you to collect on this alleged debt. •The agreement bearing my signature stating that I have agreed to assume the debt. • Valid copies of the debt agreement stating the amount of the debt and interest charges. • Complete payment history on this account along with an accounting of all additional charges being assessed. •Full account summary and itemized calculation of the alleged debt. •Date of the first delinquency. •Dates and times of any phone calls made to me and to what number an attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt was made prior to it being reported to an agency, proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law.

I attempted to make this request directly to your company prior to filing a formal complaint with the Revdex.com. Of which was without resolution.

It’s nothing but a scam to ruin my credit I owe something from so long ago that I don’t even know what it was or why I’m getting a collection 4 years later but I do not understand why this is still weighing on my credit. I was never notified of this to any correct address and why would it go to collections years later not months years
