This company (Jefferson Capital System), which I hold no contract with nor have received services form reported a collection account against my SSN in the amount of XXX.XX with Transunion, Experian and Equifax credit reporting agencies. Considering this business does not have a contract with me for goods or services, I am not obligated to pay for the alleged debt. This alleged debt was illegally re-aged which has caused me harm and was a contributing factor in me beginning denied an auto loan.

I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this company. This company has unloaded all kinds of calls from different numbers at all times of the day while I am at work trying to make a living. The debt they are trying to claim is from a Verizon bill of which I understood was a prepaid service upon purchase in store. I demand them take this off my credit report I was swindled at the store thinking I was signing up for a prepaid plan and now have taken on the amount and won't stop harassing me. This is ruining my life being on my credit report and I hope they read this and clear things up.

Jefferson Capital Systems Response • Jun 05, 2020

Mr.:
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We have responded to you via email regarding the steps we are taking, which we hope will resolve this matter to your satisfaction.

A high impacting Verizon charge has been on my credit apparently for some time. I have been ill and unable to handle much of these issues until now. I disputed these charges and they were found in my favor but not removed by Jefferson Capital. I tried contacting them directly and afyer entering my ss# in their automated system was told no information could be located or matched to my information. I was then transferred to an indian person who was now asking me for my ss# and it sounded very much like a scam kind of operation and I did not feel comfortable giving this person my personal information and was told this was the only way they could locate a record. I then hung up. I want this report removed from my credit. The amount is $801.00.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

Jefferson Capital put collection to my credit reports without my knowledge and in doing so, this violated the FDCPA Collection Practice by placing a collection account on my credit report without sending a letter to me. I’ve sent letters trying to see what’s going on and this is FDCPA violations! I even recently sent one certified and still no response. I have two children and I’m out of work, I had a job offer but lost it do to this collection and that’s how I discovered it.

Jefferson Capital Systems also failed to follow FDCPA by not sending a letter giving the consumer time to dispute or validate the alleged debt within the allowed 30-day time frame that is allowed by law. ??I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information.
1:Full original Account Number
2:Date original Account was opened
3:Provide me with written agreements between myself and the original creditor stating this debt is owed
4:Show me the you are licensed to collect in my state:
5: Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe:
6:Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent or Agent of Service:
7:Full account summary and itemized calculation of alleged debt
8:Date of the first delinquency
9:Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to an agency, and so proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law.
10:Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state:??If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, this account must be deleted from all CRAs.

At this time, I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureau’s {Experian, Equifax or TransUnion} this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent, I will not hesitate to bring legal action against you for the following:
-Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
-Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
-Defamation of Character ?
If your offices can provide proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist.

Also, during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes listing any information with a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate, when in fact there is no provided proof that it is accurate.

If your company fails to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit report and a copy of such deletion {to any/all of the 3 major credit reporting bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion} request shall be sent to me immediately.

It would be advisable that you assure your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action against your company and your client. This is an attempt to correct your records, any information obtained shall be used for that purpose.

Best Regards,
*** Account #

I’m getting harassed by a collection agency. I looked at my credit report – the only request was made 10 April 2020. The first time I’ve heard of this debt was a week ago, and the lady on the phone said it was a debt accrued in 2018. I’ve never heard of this debt.

It’s impossible that this debt is mine.

I was told it was for medical insurance. I’ve worked for the DoD for over a decade. My medical insurance is paid directly by my agency to a government affiliated insurance company. In fact, I must get permission from my agency to choose an insurance company outside of what they offer. Why would I elect to pay an additional $530 a month for medical insurance when I get better coverage through my agency for $300?

This collection company stated the debt was accrued through a 3rd party insurance company and bought by yet another 3rd party called Jefferson Capital Systems in 2018. This company has never contacted me prior to one week ago. However, today, I received a notice in the mail stating they cannot resolve my dispute because they need my full social security number, my account number, a description of the error they made and why I believe they are in error, the dollar amount I’m disputing, the date of the suspected error, and a copy of my credit report. As a government agent, this is horrifying. They are requesting all of my vital, personal information for a debt they have failed to prove I owe. I have not seen documentation of where and when I supposedly signed up for a service, and from whom this service was provided by. I have no correspondence indicating I owed anything, or signed up for anything. I can show paychecks and bank statements and tax records going back 20 years that show I have never paid for medical insurance, because it gets deducted directly from my paycheck. I’ve had excellent credit for 20 years.

There are hundreds of lawsuits against this collection agency from individuals claiming harassment over the following: incorrect debts, debts they attempt to collect that are not owed, poor communication, and purposefully evading attempts to get in touch with their auditors/collection agents/human resource department. Clearly, they have all of my information – I just moved into my house (after having moved 18 times in 10 years, I bought my first house) and they were able to send me a latter after providing a single telephone call. If I truly had a debt since 2018, why would they wait until 10 April 2020 to suddenly hit me with an anvil? Why should I be bullied and terrorized into providing my social security number, account numbers (the account isn’t mine so why they provided one to me that they request I give back to them confuses me), and my credit report? I fear any correspondence I provide them will be used as evidence to validate their claims. However, my credit report does show they made a request last month. I don’t want to completely ignore them, either.

I humbly request someone look into this company. They should be reprimanded and disbanded for bullying citizens unjustly. Also, for my own sake, is there someone who can take on my case? I’m not paying nearly $13,000 for medical insurance I never requested. No collection agency should be able to check my credit report without having irreputable evidence that the debt is actually mine. Isn’t this kind of thing supposed to be illegal?

I spoke to this company awhile back and provided supporting documentation showing that this debt has been paid. This debt was originally owned by ***. This debt has been paid and the documentation has been sent to this company. This company has now transferred this over to another debt collection company on behalf of them and they have not resolved this debt. This is being filed as abusive collection practices as this company has been provided information and *** has been provided this information before they shut down. They have put this on my credit report and another company will file this on my credit report as well.

JCS added collection to my credit reports without notifying me in writing and without my knowledge. I have never received any communication from Jefferson Capital Systems. This is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information. 1. Who was the original creditor on this account, and what was the account number? 2. What was the original amount owed? Please provide a complete payment history, starting with the original creditor. 3. Please provide me documentation that indicates that I agreed to pay someone this sum of money. 4. What was the original date of delinquency for this account? 5. Agreement that grants you the authority to collect on this alleged debt, or proof of acquisition by assignment. 6. What did you pay for this account, and how did you calculate the current amount owed? If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, this account must be deleted from all CRAs. 7. I am rejecting this response because: I don’t believe that to be my final statement. Looks like something they just made up.

Sincerely

Sir/Ma'am,

Upon reviewing my credit report I noticed that Jefferson Capital Systems had a collection account on my record that reference Verizon Wireless. I am active duty military and have been for 14 years. I immediately contacted Verizon wireless to inquire about the said account. They informed me that the account was no longer on their books and to contact Jefferson Capital Systems. In September 2014 I had a account with Verizon Wireless that was placed in "military suspension". I received email confirmation on 10/05/2014 that the mobile number(s) I had was on inactive status without billing due to a military service deployment under the SCRA. I sent this information back to Jefferson Capital Systems via mail back in 2018 showing documentations that this account should not had been on my credit as a collection. I also asked for all document pertaining to this account.

On/around 4 May 2020 I contact Jefferson Capital Systems and asked that the account be remove/deleted from my credit reports. I was told to contact the following day, as the office I needed to speak with was not available. I called on 7 May and speak with *** (ID: ***) who was unable to assist. I was forward to *** (supervisor). I let them know this alleged account was under military suspension and that I had submitted documents via USPS in 2018 providing this account should not be on my account. After about 20 minutes he stated that the tradeline would be removed from my credit report and the account would be closed.

Upon reviewing my credit report on 11 May, I noticed that an update was made and it stated I still owed the collection balance. I contact Jefferson Capital Systems on 12 May and was told that would not be removed. I notified the representative that I would be contacting your office.

This agency bought the debt to my car note I surrendered the vehicle in a Chapter 13 modification that was approved by the court. This agency has not picked up the car and they have not responded to my lawyers request for collection of vehicle or the payment of a small settlement fee for title. The car needs a fuel pump is not reliable. I am requesting that this agency either collects the vehicle or offers a small settlement offer for title. Since the car has mechanical issues and was in an rear end accident the value of the car is way less than the balance. This business inaction on the matter is a sneaky way of hanging this debt over my head even though I have filed for protection under bankruptcy. It's immoral and Ina few months it will be a violation of the discharge.

After I signed up for credit monitoring and looked at my report I noticed that a company named Jefferson capital is reporting that I owe them for a bill in the amount of $590 for a verizon wireless. This is untrue. I have never done business with Jefferson capital, have never had contracts with them either. I have never owed or had any business with Verizon wireless either. In addition, I never received any letter or notification of this fraudulent debt prior to it being placed on my credit report. I do not owe this debt and it is obviously a mistake or identity theft.

This was not my debt and has been on my report for 3 years. I've disputed several times and it has not helped. I need a verification that this debt belongs to me and that there was an attempt and contact to myself prior to placing this debt on my credit report.
