Jefferson Capital Systems Reviews (%countItem)

A few years ago I switch wireless service from Verizon to At&T. When I switched my account was paid in full and I used the same numbers I have always had. Verizon would not have released the numbers if money was owed to them. I have filed previous complaints regarding this issue, because Verizon has attempted to put the account into collections. Representatives from the company have agree with that and thus my credit report has remained clean. Today, Jefferson Capital System reported to my credit report claiming this account is in collections. I have had zero contact with this company on any level and the account in question does not exist any longer. There is no money owed on the account and this collections company has never even bothered to talk to me in any capacity. Reporting to a credit company something that is false is illegal and a form of harassment.

On 07/28/19, I received a notice from my credit monitoring that JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYST had placed a collection on my credit report in the amount of $1,698 from VERIZON WIRELESS. I have received no formal communication from this company, via mail, or any other communications channel, which is required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) before collections activity can continue by law.

In addition, I have not had an account with Verizon Wireless in over 7 years and my last account was PAID IN FULL with no outstanding balance in a prior marriage with an ex-spouse.

This company is not in compliance with FDCPA laws, which requires a validation of debt to be sent to the debtor and a response allowed by the alleged within 30 days to request and / or dispute the validity of the debt.

This is extremely frustrating to have a company pursue collections activity without following laws and practices at a consumer's expense, especially when the debt is not valid or owed.

Jefferson Capital Systems appeared on my credit report on two different reporting agencies without contacting me prior to reporting and refuse to provide me with any information in regards to the original contract information between myself and the original creditor.

Jefferson Capital put collection on my credit reports without my knowledge and in doing so, this violated the FDCPA Collection Practice by placing a collection account on my credit report without sending a letter to me. Plus there is NO verification from the SC Secretary of State that they are registered in South Carolina which is also against the FDCPA!

I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information.
1. Full original Account Number
2. Date original Account was opened
3. Any written agreements between myself and the original creditor stating this debt is owed
4. Full account summary and itemized calculation of alleged debt
5. Date of the first delinquency
6. Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to an agency, and so proving that these calls were made in the times governed by FDCPA law.

If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information, this account must be deleted from all CRAs.

Jefferson Capital Systems also failed to follow FDCPA by not sending a letter giving the consumer time to dispute or validate the alleged debt within the allowed 30-day time frame that is allowed by law.

Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. Is reporting a collection on my credit reports to all 3 of the credit bureaus. It is a Verizon Wireless account over $2000. I have written to all 3 bureaus to have this account removed due to the fact that is has been re-aged. Re-aging an old account to make it appear as a new account is illegal. The debt statute of limitation is according to the date of first delinquency, which in my case Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. is saying was January of 2019. This is false information being reported and it is severely negatively impacting my credit score. I just want this item removed from my credit once and for all. I also have no contract with this company, or any debts with them. If this continues I will take legal action with my attorney.

More than 15 years ago, I used to have my phone service through Verizon. Unfortunately, my mother became ill and my finances took a big hit. My debt accumulated interests for years and was eventually sold. The debt is much older than the 7 years that it would have normally stayed in my credit report, but because the owners and dates keep changing, it has stayed in my report. The latest owner of the debt is Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. They sent me a letter stating that if I paid $189.00 they would forgive the rest of the debt and they would take it off the credit reports (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian). I'm aware that the debt is too old for me to be sued for, but I'm moving next year for work reasons and I want to improve my credit score, so I agreed to the settlement. Now that I paid the $189.00 they are negating the settlement and the debt is still on my credit reports. I have the settlement proposal letter still, what can I do? At the Credit Karma website, it shows they cashed in the money of the agreed settlement payment and is accredited to my account. I took a screenshot just in case. I'll wait for your advice.

The collection listed on my credit account from Jefferson Capital System is showing as a new derogatory collection as of August 1, 2018. This account is actually several years old. The falsely stated date of this collection has negatively impacted my credit.

This has resolved the issue.Thank you

Without my knowledge, this company added a collection to my credit reports and I proceeded to check & can't verify their registration in Maryland, which are both violations of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDPCA).

Jefferson Capital Systems put a collection on my credit reports without my knowledge and in the process, they violated the FDCPA by putting a collection account on my credit report without a letter being sent to me.

I request that Jefferson Capital Systems verify the following information:

3. Any written agreements between myself and the original creditor stating that this debt is owed

5. Date of the first delinquency

I am filing a complaint against Jefferson Capital Systems for a collection that has been billed to me since 2013. The account description was for Verizon Wireless. It is a fraudulent account because I am not aware of this account being opened. I have asked Jefferson Capital Systems numerous times for proof of documentation regarding this account but they refused to provide me with any information. I have reached out to Jefferson Capital Systems stating that this account is fraudulently opened under my name and they have continued to send me collection documents and numerous calls.

Jefferson Capital added a collection ( Finger Hut) for $242 to my credit reports without my knowledge! I checked & can't verify their registration in Texas. BOTH are in violation of FDCPA. This company has been reporting a FingerHut account adversely without following the regulations that are set forth by FCRA. When I applied for a loan, I was denied and this prompted my credit investigation on my own behalf. l ,***, have disputed this debt for the past 7 months. The practices of this said collection agency is unethical and very deceptive. I reached out to this company via certified mail on more than one occasion for the multiple accounts in particularly FingerHut that they listed on my credit reports with the 3 major credit agencies. I asked this company to validate the said account with FingerHut, I too became a victim of fraud. I provided this info to all 3 credit agencies in hopes to assume responsibility for my own debt, not debt that belonged to someone else or debt that was in my name fraudulently. Jefferson Capital didn’t respond to my certified letter dated June 5th 2019. After no response to validate the debt for FingerHut, I sent a certified letter to original creditor, Fingerhut, and they responded by stating that the account I’m inquiring about has been sold to Jefferson Capital. The collection agency to my knowledge hasn’t been verified in the state of TX where I reside. The information that the FDCPA Collection Practice by placing a collection account on my credit report without sending me a letter. Additionally, there is not any verification from the Texas Secretary of State that they are registered in Texas which is also against the FDCPA! I request that Jefferson Capitol verify the following information; 1. Full original Account Number, 2. Date original Account was opened, 3. Any written agreements between myself and the original creditor stating this debt is valid and owed, 4. Full account summary and itemized calculation of alleged debt, 5. Date of the first delinquency and 6. Dates and times of any phone calls made and to what number in attempt to contact me concerning the alleged debt before it was reported to any agency. If they can’t authenticate and validate this account with competent info, I ask that this information and account be removed completely from all creditors and to comply with laws for the consumer when reporting according to FCRA. I also wanted to point out that I’m abreast to the laws and the statue of limitations in Texas. The debt that is placed on my credit report is expired according to the law. The original date per FingerHut was dated 8/2012 and if that is true, it’s been 7 years regardless of validation of ownership. I would ask if the law be adhered and this FingerHut collection be removed due to expiration of the 4 years a collection agency (creditor) has to collect or sue debtor. At no time have I acknowledged or assumed responsibility for this said collection debt with Jefferson Capital or FingerHut. Please correct this matter because consequently, it affects me greatly in every aspect possible.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
I enclosed a copy of each Credit agency report showing that it is still active on my credit file. Jefferson Capital system did send me a letter as stated. However the letter states they are not reporting as of 7/16/2019. Upon receiving letter on the 27 of July I pulled my own credit and saw that it was still on there and reporting negatively. Do the Jefferson Capital lies. They have not corrected neither abided by the FCRA or their own words per letter they sent via mail. I also included a copy of said letter I screen shot the credit reports from all three major reporting company’s. I have no reason to lie and they are all dated and time stamped to reflect accurate data on my nehalf as well as Jefferson Capital System. I am requesting complete deletion from all credit reporting systems ASAP!

I have sent numerous letters to this company asking for verifiable proof of my debt according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They have sent me nothing but print out of a bill claiming it was verified without any proof (ie: my signature). The original company stated on my credit report by Jefferson Capital does not even show on my report at all.

This debt collector is STILL trying to collect a debt of $165.65 from me for an account that I no longer own! The debt is for an electric bill that another tenant must have owed.

I tried speaking to Jefferson Capitol Systems over the phone but can not get through to a single human because as soon as I enter my social security I am greeted with message saying my account was sold to another debt collector. No other information is given and I have no idea who to even speak to.

This false debt has left a derogatory mark on my credit report.

I have viewed my credit report and this company has almost $40,000 in debt on it causing my credit score to be so low I basically have no credit. It appears they have picked up a loan that was presented with false information and the school has been sued and closed because of it. The degree is not even any good because of the school closure. This debt has been forgiven so I am not sure why it is still on my credit report. This accounts are showing being opened before the original company closed them so they were both reporting to my credit at the same time.

I received a letter from Jefferson Capital Systems stating an attempt to collect a debt of $2475 for original creditor *** account ending ***. Please be advised this is not a refusal to pay a debt, but a notice pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested.

The JCS reference number is ***.

I have no knowledge of this account. I request that you please verify the following information to assist identifying whether this debt is valid:

1. Full original account number
2. Date original account opened
3. Any written agreement(s) between myself and the original creditor stating I agreed to pay alleged debt
3. Consumer address at which original account was opened
4. Date of first delinquency
5. Itemized calculation of alleged debt

If Jefferson Capital Systems is unable to provide the above identifying account information I will have no recourse but to presume the debt invalid and/or fraudulent and request account deletion from all credit reporting agencies without further discussion of payment in full or partial settlement.

This is my attempt to verify the validity of this alleged debt and I appreciate your transparency and cooperation.

Please conduct all communication through written correspondence to the following address only:

Absolutely no phone calls. If correspondence is initiated by JCS in any manner other than permitted I will cease all communication (invoking my legal right to request JCS cease communication) with the presumption that the debt is invalid and that I own zero responsibility (in part or whole) for the repayment of said debt.

Jefferson Capital has 3 collections in Equifax, Experian and Transunion and they all contradict each other. Equifax says payments have been made through June 2019 but no balance decreased, I have not made any payments on their collections or know of them and it shows payments every month but account closed, which makes no sense. Experian says they are charge-offs and closed account. Transunion says they are Verizon with Jefferson’s Capital address attached to it and open. None of them have been validated and I have disputed them. I have received no calls or been informed of validation.

Jefferson Capital continues to verify an unvalidated account and also is reporting to the credit bureaus that I made a recent payment to them in the amount of $100. I never made a payment to them. They are updating this account as accurate, however it't not. They also just recently updated it as closed as of 5/31/2019. This means they were reporting it as an open account, hence a collection account is not an open account.
