This is a total scam operation. They do not communicate this policy to you when you rent the car and it should be illegal. There are no postings at the check out counters and the only time it appears is sandwiched between 10 other automated things they are trying to get you to opt in onscreen. There is not a list posted on any of the car rental sites that tells you which cities have these automated toll roads. Why don't they tell you when you book the car that you have this option available to you? Because they want you to opt out inadvertently when you are picking up the car so they can send you a $90 bill a month later for $10 in tolls. Since they have your credit card on file and pretty much know everything about you they intimidate you into paying their absurdly grossly inflated "administrative fees". The Revdex.com should be ashamed to even allow them to have this designation. The Car rental companies are a monopoly that operate under sleazy business practices because there is no oversight or regulations and the customer has absolutely no power. I am done with these companies and as a frequent business traveler will make an effort to boycott them & encourage my co-workers, friends and business associates to do the same.
Review: I rented a vehicle from 10/30-11/4/15. While I was aware that I would be charged for the tolls that I incurred during my rental use, I was under the impression that I would only be charged for the tolls (due I the response received from the counter clerk per my direct questioning). I feel I was misinformed about "administrative charges" that were billed for use of the toll-payment system, which resulted in additional charge of $25.25 (separate from the toll fee which I do not dispute) to my credit card.
I would like this amount refunded to my credit card.
Furthermore, I would like the company to rectify the factors in their practices which are misleading. Namely:
(1) Language about the use of said pass is obfuscated "no upfront commitment" "fees are only charged when you use the designated lanes" and "There is no charge for [redacted] unless you use it."
"The [redacted]® service offers speed and convenience while using toll roads for Hertz rental car customers. The [redacted] service allows you to avoid waiting in long toll lines to pay cash by using high speed tolling lanes, so you can get to where you are going faster. There is no upfront commitment or decision required to use the [redacted] service since fees are only charged when you use the designated lanes. and ?
(2) Customer Service representatives must be knowledgable to give answers surrounding use or direct customer to literature. No false information should be relayed.
(3) The "service fee" charges should be directly related to the the services rendered. Namely, if you are charging a service fee for use of the toll-payment services, it follows that the fees would be a direct result of use, NOT an additional charge to the daily rate of the rental that has previously been established.
(4) Require SOME INDICATION of additional fees/policy on the actual device in the vehicle, similar to the instructions for use that are displayed so as the encourage use of the device, sans mention of fees.Desired Settlement: I would like the "administrative charges" that were billed for use of the toll-payment system, a total of $25.25, to be refunded to my credit card. I would also like to see the company required to revise it's (at best) elusive/ineffective practices, which some would consider misleading/predatory. I have attempted to outline some of those practices above.

Review: I rented a car from Hertz in orange park, fl on Nov 11, 2015 and drove to montgomery, alabama on Nov12, 2015 and on to selma, alabama. I stayed in selma,al until Nov 16, 2015 when I returned to middleburg, fl and returned the car to hertz on Nov 17, 2015. Platepass is charging my credit card 26.07 for a toll charge that I did not go through in south florida on Nov 13, 2015 which I did not take the car in that diretion.Desired Settlement: Removal of charge 26.07 that charged to my credit card that I did not warrant.

Review: I went through a toll bridge in Chicago, Illinois on the way to O'Hare Airport because I didn't have any coins. Once home, I went to the Illinois tollway website and submitted a payment of $1.50 on my credit card. The payment was posted on September 30, 2014 to the State of Illinois (reference number:[redacted]). In looking at my credit card today, I noticed a charge from American Traffic Solutions for the amount of $21.30. The charge comes with no explanations or any information in regards to the violations.Desired Settlement: I just want the charge rescinded, and that others don't get fraudulent charges.

Review: I was billed for tolls that I did not incur. The car I rented was never out of the State of Maine during my rental, yet I am being billed for tolls in New york city and other locations. As I pointed out in my dispute, there are not sufficient miles on the vehicle for me to have travelled to the locations where the tolls were incurred. I have provided credit card evidence that I was hundreds of miles from the toll locations. Someone at [redacted] apparently took the data from a toll transponder in a different car and erroneously applied it to my account.Desired Settlement: Remove charges from my American Express account. This charge has been disputed for three months, three times by American Express, without a satisfactory resolution. I expect a refund or credit to my account to be expedited. If it is, I will consider the matter closed.

Review: I rented a car from Dollar in [redacted], ** I purchased a 'toll tag' option to pay all tolls automatically. A company in ** sent me a bill for 4 tolls plus a $15.00 handling fee for each 'non payment of a toll' My note reads my card will be charged for the missed tolls and the outrageous handling fee.
I called [redacted] and was told the handling company in ** had a computer 'glitch' and thousands of letter went out to renters although they paid for the toll tag option.Desired Settlement: I have a similar outrageous handling fee for my time and to get this matter cleaned up although it was not my issue since they had a computer issue.
I also want to know how much and what information of mine may have been compromised???

Dollar offers an optional Platepass service for a small daily fee. We apologize if you were not informed of this service at the time of your rental. As your rental was not opted in to this service, you were charged a $15 admin fee per toll. You have the option of opting in to the Platepass program at any point before, during, or after your rental agreement.
According to our records, you spoke to our customer service department on 10/9 and advised about the opt-in service. We apologize that you were given incorrect information by the rental agency. As you were informed by our customer service department, this is not due to a glitch and is not related in any way to the sharing of your financial information.
Four electronic tolls were reported to us by the [redacted]. In some instances a few tolls will be missed by your personal [redacted] tag or will be applied to your personal [redacted] tag after they have already been reported to us. If this happens, we will request a copy of your [redacted] statement and refund any tolls that were applied to your person [redacted] account and the administrative fee.

Review: Company charged 30.00 in fees to my debit card. This fee is excessive, and had nothing to do with the parking ticket that I was issued. The ticket was for $6.50. That is ridiculous. I rented with [redacted] but was sent this fee for a toll violation, which I had called [redacted] to handle because of a lack of a car tag number in order to pay the $6.50 fine. No one ever returned my call. Not only did I have to call back over four times, I also was charged $100 in late fees. This brought my $6.50 toll charge to $136.50. Every time that I try to submit a request for refund, their website says that "it cannot be processed." I tried to call to ask why I was charged this fee but they told me to call [redacted]. When I called [redacted] they told me to call this company. No one can seem to get their story straight.Desired Settlement: Full refund to credit card

Review: I rent vehicles from [redacted] frequently for my work travel. [redacted] has an agreement with [redacted] run by the company in question to provide Electronic transponders to renters so they don't have to pay with cash.
There is suppose to be a way to shut the door on a box surrounding the transponder so it won't get charged while going through a toll if the driver has another method of payment. However, I know of 3 occasions this year where the box has been shut, it has been removed from the windshield and placed safely in the glovebox. Yet, anywhere from one month to 4 months later I received a charge from [redacted] saying that I've used their services. In addition to just the toll charges they collect an exceptionally large and exhorbidant sum. The latest instance, they said that their transponder received a $0.70 charge. A transponder that I wasn't using. Yet, they charge me $20.50 almost two months later.Desired Settlement: Refund the $20.50 and I'd also like to see a more concrete and secure way to make sure their transponders do not get charged if they are locked in the box provided.

Repeated tried to dispute a charge for a missed toll that was cleared due to an administrative error. The web portal to resolve repeatedly did not work (kept getting a could not be submitted at this time) after multiple attempts. Was placed on hold for so long via phone that I eventually gave up. Scummy tricks worked, I am not going to spend 3 hours fighting a $15 fee. It appears that they make everything so difficult people give up eventually and they can collect their fees.
Review: I used a toll for one day for a total of $1.83 and was charged processing fees for 7 days when only one day occurred with a toll. Company is stating I agreed to it, but [redacted] nor my contract states that. I have attempted to resolve the situation with the company but they are not willing to fix the problem.Desired Settlement: removal of the daily charges where no tolls were incurred. I have no issue paying the toll in question but request that the toll be paid by me to the toll authority. If this can not happen then I will pay the toll and processing fee to [redacted].

I have no idea why I was charged, never received any information about this company when I rented the car. I paid all tolls with cash, there is no reason why we should be charged by this company. On my [redacted] statement, I received a [redacted] rental charge today for $26.00 for Plate Pass [redacted] Tolls.
I looked up the toll record that showed 07/11/15 on [redacted] toll bridge in FLORIDA at 7:04a.m.
Our car rental was in [redacted] and at that specific moment in time, we were getting dressed for a wedding in AUSTIN, TX.
The business made it very difficult to file a dispute.
I contacted the credit card company, [redacted], who would not acknowledge that I might be correct and said, "We will refund this charge considering how you feel."
I really think Plate Pass should be held responsible for this error and not [redacted].
Rental customers beware!
