Thank you for forwarding this matter to my attention. We apologize for any frustration the claims process may have caused. To address the consumers concerns, the insurance is offered in the booking path and with that offer there is additional information. It states in that section that...
terms and conditions apply and there are limitations. There is also a link to review the insuring agreement prior to purchase. The same insuring agreement is then emailed to the consumer along with a 10 day satisfaction guarantee period in which the premium can be refunded in 10 days if the terms do not meet the consumer’s needs. The insurance program provided event cancellation coverage for a number of reasons. Unfortunately, not having someone to take you to the event is not a reason that would have triggered event ticket cancellation coverage. That being said, the consumer contacted us to advise that there were other reasons for the cancellation and we are currently awaiting supporting documentation for further review. We are unable to reimburse the original, used portion of your flights and cruise." We are unable to reimburse for the used portions of the flight and cruise as the benefit reimburses for the unused pre-paid trip portions. As the consumers trip was interrupted, we would only reimburse for the portion that wasn't used and wasn't refundable by the travel suppliers. At this time, we are unable to issue reimbursement with the current documentation on file. We can consider additional expenses upon receipt of proof of payment for additional meals, additional transportation expenses, additional hotels, and/or unused, prepaid trip expenses. When we stated the insured should have definitely received a refund by now, that was indicating that there was an error somewhere.I have since contacted the Finance Department and they confirmed a refund on the same date of purchase but also located a different policy for the consumer on the same day which occurred when the policy was purchased. As there were two separate policies that were set up, we have requested to have the other one canceled. The consumer was never charged for the one that was canceled on the same day of purchase.This should rectify the problem and the consumer should receive a credit back to the account.Thank you, Kalinda H[redacted]

If not, a request can be made for the full refund of the premium.The policy included a named perils certificate which outlined all named perils. Unfortunately, the consumers reason was not listed as a named peril in the policy thus we are unable to honor the claim for reimbursement. To help our consumers understand this, we include the following in the insuring agreement:“This is a named perils travel insurance policy, which means it covers on the specific situations, events, and losses included in this document, and only under the conditions we describe.”As such, we advise consumers at the time an online offer is made that these terms, conditions, and exclusions apply to the product. We also provide them with a clickable link that allows them to preview a summary of information about the product as well as the full terms, conditions and exclusions of the insurance program prior to purchasing. If the insurance offer is accepted, these same terms are sent via email to the email address provided at the time of purchase. Moreover, we also make clear that the consumer may, for any reason, cancel the insurance and receive a premium refund within a 10-day “free-look” period by calling our toll free number, faxing, or emailing a written request. The insurance program provided trip cancellation/interruption coverage for a number of named perils, as specified in the policy. However, as stated above, not all unforeseen reasons for cancellation of a trip are covered. Unfortunately, the situation described is not a named peril which would trigger trip cancellation/interruption coverage. I regret that we were unable to reverse our decision in this matter. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.We are a bit fuzzy about what the difference between trip delay and trip interruption are. We were forced to find an alternate form of transportation to reach a different destination than originally intended and arrive much later than originally planned. Not to mention that we then had to drive to the original destination to wait 6 hours for our luggage. The line between delay and interruption, so grey that the original customer service rep was unsure as to how we should file the claim. If their own staff can't differentiate between the two, how can the purchasing public?

I have submitted this document. Attached is the document I sent over, NOTARIZED. [redacted] May pass away by the end of the week, without us being able to fly our mother out here. This company we believe , may have contributed to [redacted] not caring anymore, since this company could not even give us our money back in a timely fashion. We have spoken to many people. This is bad. ALSO, they stated a check was sent. The payment was stopped, I called WEEKS ago because they also "sent" it to the "wrong address". I since then followed up and not only did I get hung up on, I also got ZERO assistance like I usually do when I call. I talked to a supervisor, male, named "Angel", and I now fixed my address, and they stopped payment. Managers are no where, supervisors are RUDE, and the "customer service" people are SO QUICK to disregard your phone call because it's always a "7-10 business day" response from them and there's nothing they can do.[redacted]
