Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.   I am rejecting this response from the business because they are still not fixing the issue. I am aware of the methods I can use to payoff my account. I am also aware of how to make a payment. My problem is the actual payoff amount. I have been making on time car payments since I purchased my vehicle. My payoff amount should not be more than the amount I originally financed with this company. My payoff amount should not include future interest charges. I started making payments of $326.41 in May 2016 which totals  $1632.05. Why is it that only $209.12 have been applied towards my principal and the rest has gone towards interest? According to the ACA website, my account balance as of close of business on 10/10/16 is $11, 297.40. However, your website is saying that my payoff amount as of 10/11/16 is $11,438.47. Why is ACA adding additional interest to my payoff amount? Why has only 13% of my total car payments been applied to my principal?

were returned due to the fact that Mr. [redacted] entered his bank account number incorrectly into the third-party payment system which ACA utilizes. Ms. [redacted]’s payments have been applied correctly to the account since the inception of her account. However, Ms. [redacted]’s complaint expressed that she wanted her late fees to show as “paid.”  Accordingly, ACA made an adjustment to the account, as highlighted in the attached Customer Transaction History: ACA adjusted the application of the 10/5/2017  payment of $384.31 (yellow)  such that after the adjustment, $145.52 was applied to the accrued late fees (orange), $189.91 applied to principal (green) and $48.88 to accrued interest (blue).   Interest is not accrued on late fees, and late fees do not affect the delinquency status of the account. The late fee is determined by the Retail Installment Sale Contract between Ms. [redacted] and ACA.  As explained in the Contract, a late fee equal to 5% of the late payment  is incurred if the payment is 10 days late. Therefore, a late fee is assessed on the 11th day after her due date of the 23rd. (Pursuant to the Contract, the minimum late fee is $7.20 and maximum is $18.00.)   ACA applies the payments as outlined in the contract and payments are always applied in accordance with ACA’s Payment Allocation Order. ACA’s Payment Allocation Order is as follows:                 1.              Repossession fees, if any                 2.              Interest (currently due)                 3.              Principal (current and past due)                 4.              All other fees (such as late fees and non-sufficient funds fees (NSF))                 5.              Remaining principal Any amount collected that exceeds the Total Amount Due (Interest, Principal and Fees) will be applied to Principal.   This payment allocation order benefits the customer in that the payment is applied to principal (current and past due), before it is applied to late fees. Accordingly, principal is reduced, resulting in less interest paid over the life of the account. While late fees may remain unpaid, they do not accrue interest.   Whenever Ms. [redacted] made a payment, we applied her payment to the accrued interest first, then principal, and if there were not enough funds remaining to cover the late fee, the late fee remained unpaid on the account, interest free. If Ms. [redacted] incurs a late fee in the future, she will need to make that late monthly payment in full, plus the late fee, before her next due date, in order for the late charge to be paid.  Otherwise, the account will have entered the next month’s payment cycle, and the funds intended to apply to the late charge, will apply to that month’s  installment instead (interest and principal).   Ms. [redacted]’s next monthly payment of $402.71 is due on 11/23/2017. All late charges incurred to date are showing as paid.

at her convenience, we would be happy to discuss the matter, including her question about the effect of paying every two weeks. ACA is unable to change the contracted interest rate and are unable to refinance our loans.  We apply payments in the following order, without exception:  repossession fees, if any; interest; principal; all other fees (such as late fees and NSF fees); remaining principal. We look forward to Ms. [redacted]’s call and can be reached at 864[redacted] or [redacted].com.             Keith K[redacted] Customer Experience Manager
