Re:  RevDex.com ID [redacted]
         Macy's account ending in...

[redacted]
Dear
[redacted]:
I am
in receipt of your complaint forwarded to Macy's Executive Office by the RevDex.com.  As a representative of
this office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of
Department Stores National Bank (DSNB).
I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced in accessing
your account online.
As a
result of our credit system conversion in August, the online credit servicing
pages are no longer on macys.com.  They
are hosted by [redacted] and accessed through macys.com.  In order to view your account details or
process a payment, you need to log into your profile on macys.com and select to
view your account information which will direct you to the Macy’s portal at
[redacted].  A pop up box will be displayed
with a notice informing you that you are leaving macys.com.  If you have never set your account up on the
new servicing site, you will need to do so to gain access.  Please follow the prompts to complete the
process.  To ensure a smooth transition,
please review your macys.com profile first to ensure that your credit account
number is listed correctly.
In
reviewing your account, our records indicate that for the billing period ending
August 16, 2015, had a $203.45 balance with a $25.00 minimum payment due by
September 13, 2015.  You elected to sign
up for our “Thanks for Sharing” program on September 7, 2015, for which a
$25.00 charge was applied to the account.
We received your $203.45 payment on September 13, 2015, which left a
$25.00 new balance with a $25.00 minimum payment due by October 13, 2015.  When no payment was received by this date,
your account was charged a $25.00 late fee and $2.00 interest charge in
accordance with the terms of the DSNB Credit Card Agreement.  These charges resulted in a $52.00 new
balance with a $52.00 minimum payment due by November 13, 2015.  When no payment was received by this due
date, the account was charged a $38.00 late fee and $2.00 interest charges
resulting in a new balance of $92.00 with a $92.00 minimum payment due by
December 13, 2015.  We received your
payment of $92.00 on December 5, 2015, which brought your account to a current
status.
While
I found that these fees were charged correctly, as a courtesy to you, we
removed $63.00 in late fees and $4.30 in interest from the account resulting in
a Credit Balance of $22.00 which can be use against future purchases on your
account, or, you may call Credit Customer Service to request a Credit Balance
Refund Check be mailed to you.
[redacted]
[redacted], thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and giving me
the opportunity to respond.  If I may be
of additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Janice D.

[redacted]   [redacted]   December 16, 2016     [redacted]   Re:  Revdex.com, Complaint ID [redacted]   Dear [redacted]:    I am in receipt of your complaint filed...

with the Revdex.com, which was forwarded to Macy’s Executive Office.  As a liaison in this office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns.   In reviewing the transaction history for the Merchandise Only Certificate (MOC) number you provided in your complaint, I found that the remaining balance of $179.19 was redeemed for merchandise ranging from [redacted], and [redacted] during your shopping trip on December 11, 2016.  I have enclosed copies of your receipts for your review.   Merchandise Only Certificates differ from Gift Cards in that whenever you present a MOC for purchasing items in the store, if the MOC balance exceeds the receipt total, a new MOC will be issued to you at the register.  Applying this to your circumstance, during your shopping trip on December 11, 2016, for the transaction numbered 275; you presented your MOC ending in [redacted] along with a Macy’s gift card ending in [redacted] for a purchase totaling $104.98.  The gift card balance of $37.59 was first applied, and then your MOC was applied for the remainder of the receipt balance.  After this purchase, your MOC balance was $111.80, and a new MOC (ending 7470) was issued at the register.   You made a second purchase (reference transaction number 280) totaling $88.37 and used the new MOC ending in 7470 (with a balance of $111.80) for this purchase.  Subtracting the receipt total of $88.37 from the original balance of $111.80, left a remaining merchandise credit of $23.43 which was issued to you in a new MOC ending in [redacted].  The remainder of your merchandise credit ($23.43) was then redeemed for $23.43 in conjunction with your personal credit card on transaction ending [redacted].   To clarify, MOC’s do not expire and I sincerely regret any misinformation that may have been provided to you.  Because your Merchandise Credit has been redeemed, there are no funds remaining to be issued to you.  Please be assured that Macy’s does not participate in deceptive practices as your complaint alleges.   Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and allowing me the opportunity to respond.  If I may be of further assistance to you, please contact me directly at the telephone number listed below.   Sincerely, Stephen C. Revdex.com:True that we canceled the order, which inherently resolves any delivery charges.  However, Macy's still has their delivery charges hidden on their website and is not transparent about these charges which seems pretty deceptive to me. I'd like to understand if Macy's plans on making any changes here to be more transparent about these charges in the future?

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  By Macy's own admission they had an obligation to report information to the credit reporting agencies. Their failure to provide updates during the month of June, July, August, September, October, November and Devember 2015 are unjustified and to my detriment. The elaborate breakdown of late fees and interest assessed was waste of time and did not provide a resolution to the fact they failed to report updates to the credit reporting agencies. When my payments were made an updated should have been sent to the reporting agencies. When the account was paid during September and October 2015 they had an obligation to update the credit reporting agencies. On one hand their defense to their actions is that they "may" provide updates and have an obligation to provide accurate information and on the other end, they try to justify their failure to provide updates during the months of September through December 2015 to a system upgrade. I don't care about the system upgrade. In consideration of their customers, the effect on Macy's ability to provide accurate reporting should have been considered and efforts should have been made to ensure their current and prior customers were the least effected. Macy's has not provided updates to the credit reporting agencies since May 1, 2015, and as a result my account is listed as 5 months of delinquencies which is completely inaccurate. It is foreseeable that a failure by Macy's or any credit card company to provide updates for 7 months would have an adverse effect on any customer. Other than my repeat calls and complaints, Macy's would not have made a proactive attempt to ensure my account was properly reported closed and a zero balance as of October 2015. It is now January 2016. Attached are images of my credit report that reflect that Macy's failure to report is the ONLY account that's effecting my credit score. The response, although appreciated, does not reflect that they truly appreciate the negative effect of their failure to report and doesn't place any owness on Macy's that they are sorry that their system upgrade has negatively impacted my credit score. The response places blame on me and on the credit reporting agency because "they don't control how information reports." Well Macy's if you sent an update every month and particularly in October 2015 when the account was paid in full, this entire issue would be moot. I would have been satisfied with an apology and Macy's accepting responsibility that the system upgrade negatively affected me amongst others and they screwed up. All the other stuff was just a mask and unnecessary. Customer service should not always be reduced to what's written in the terms and conditions but rather to be willing to provide the best service to customers, and not use excuses. I truly appreciated having my Macy's card for about 13 years, it's sad to see this is how they treat their customers. I'll be happy when my credit report is accurate and updated. Until that happens I will not be satisfied.

January 18, 2017     [redacted]   Re:  Revdex.com Complaint ID #[redacted]         Macy’s store account ending in [redacted] (closed)   Dear [redacted]:   I am in receipt of the...

complaint you filed with the Revdex.com, which was forwarded to Macy’s Executive Office.  As a representative in this office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of Department Stores National Bank.    In researching this matter, our records confirm on August 8, 2015, you entered into a payment arrangement with the Collections Department which included monthly payments in the amount of $111.00 and zero ($0.00) interest charge for sixty (60) months, provided the agreement terms were satisfied.  The terms of this agreement stipulated if two (2) payments were not made by the required due date or returned unpaid, this would nullify the agreement and the payment arrangement would be terminated.  A review of your account confirms that your first late payment was July 2, 2016, and the second late payment was September 2, 2016.  At that time, the agreement was terminated and your account reverted back to its original terms, including late fees and interest charges assessed on any unpaid balance on the account.  Please note that interest and late fees are charged on an account on the unpaid balance whether it is open or closed.  Regrettably, I must decline your request to reinstate the arrangement.  As of the date of this letter, your account is current with an unpaid balance of $4,648.96 with a minimum payment of $146.08 due by February 2, 2017.    [redacted], although we would like to reply favorably to every customer, it is not always feasible.  We apply our credit policies uniformly to all of our customers and cannot make an exception in this matter. Re:  Revdex.com Complaint ID #[redacted]
        Bloomingdale’s account ending in [redacted]

Dear [redacted]...

[redacted]:

I
am in receipt of your complaint filed with the Revdex.com and
forwarded to Bloomingdale’s Executive Office.
As a liaison in this office, I was asked to review and respond to your
concerns on behalf of Department Stores National Bank.  Please accept my sincere apology for any
frustration you may have experienced regarding the delinquency reported for
your Bloomingdale’s account listed above.

My
research found that your account was opened on October 4, 2014, and your
October 2014 and January 2015 billing statements were mailed to the above
address.  Our records do not show that we
received any returned mail on your account, which suggests the billing
statements were received. Payments were timely made on the account after these
billing statements were mailed.

Our
records show that on January 17, 2015, you registered your account on
bloomingdales.com to receive electronic statements only at your email address
[redacted].  Therefore, paper
statements by mail were discontinued based on your preference.  I confirmed that notification of your billing
statements for the periods ending April 4, 2015, through June 4, 2015, were
successfully delivered to this e-mail address.  We have no record of you or your wife
contacting our Client Service Department to request paper statements or update
your email address since the date your account was opened as you stated in your
letter.  Due to missed payments, your
account was temporarily coded to receive both electronic and paper statements on
June 7, 2015, and your June 2015 billing statement was sent by mail and email.  The missed payments on your account also
prompted the telephone call you referenced in your letter. This call was intended
as a courtesy to remind you of the past due status of your account.  It is not our practice to leave voicemail
messages due to the sensitive nature of the calls.

When
no payment was received for your May 4, 2015, and June 4, 2015, due dates, your
account was charged late fees and interest charges for these months.  Additionally, a 30-day delinquency was
reported to the credit reporting agencies for June 2015 in accordance with the
Department Stores National Bank Credit Card Agreement.  Kindly note that we have no control over how
our reporting affects your credit rating.
For your examination, I am sending you a copy of the Credit Card
Agreement, with your monthly billing statements from April 4, 2015, to June 4,
2015, which you should receive under separate cover at the above
address within seven (7) to ten (10) days.
At your request during your call on June 7, 2015, we removed $18.00 in
accumulated late fees as a goodwill gesture, and we received your $157.79
payment on the same date to bring your balance to zero ($0.00).

Regrettably,
we are unable to alter the delinquency reported for June 2015 as it correctly
reflects the payment history on your account at the time.  It is not the bank’s policy to remove any
delinquency from your credit report unless it occurred as a result of a billing
error.  As a credit provider, we have an
obligation to accurately report all account activity, either favorable or
unfavorable, to the credit reporting agencies.
However, on June 12, 2015, we instructed the credit reporting agencies
to report your account as 'customer disputes reporting'.

[redacted], thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and for giving me
the opportunity to respond.  If I may be
of any further assistance, do not hesitate to call me at the telephone number
below.

Sincerely,

Dear [redacted]:

I am in receipt of your
complaint filed with the Revdex.com forwarded to Macy’s Executive
Office.  As a liaison in this office, I
was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of Department Stores
National Bank.  Please accept my personal
apology for any inconvenience you may have experienced while attempting to use
your Macy’s Star Rewards certificates.

It was disappointing to
learn that your certificates were not enclosed as expected in the letter you
received on July 28, 2015.  Be assured
that the problems you described are not typical of the level of quality
customer service that we strive to provide.
Macy’s goal is to have professional and knowledgeable sales associates
available, so that all of our customers’ questions and needs are addressed and
resolved efficiently.  For that reason,
we truly appreciate you for the time you took to share your feedback, as it
directs our attention to areas in which we can improve our service
quality.

We no longer have a Macy’s Star Rewards certificate
program for our customers.  However, I
have enclosed $70.00 in Macy’s Money certificates as a gesture of
goodwill.  You will receive this within
seven (7) to ten (10) business days under separate cover.

[redacted], thank you for allowing us the
opportunity to respond and mend our business relationship with you.  Your continued loyalty is important to us, as
well as appreciated, and I hope you will view this as an isolated
incident.  If I may be of further
assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the telephone
number listed below.

Sincerely,

Re:    RevDex.com ID #[redacted]
Dear [redacted]
I am in receipt of your
complaint filed with...

the Revdex.com and forwarded to Macy’s
Executive Office.  As a liaison in this
office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of
Department Stores National Bank.
Please accept my sincere
apology for any frustration while trying to resolve this issue.  I have forwarded a copy of your letter to the
appropriate management so that the issue may be addressed appropriately.
According to the terms of
the Department Stores National Bank Credit Card Agreement, “You agree to notify
us promptly in writing if you move.
Until we receive written notice of your new address, we will continue to
send statements and other notices to the address in our records.”  This also includes updating your e-mail
address when it changes.
My research shows, due to
our system upgrade the August 2015 email notification with a payment due date
of September 4, 2015, was not sent.
However, monthly statements were emailed to you at [email protected]
on September 10, 11 and October 12, 2015, and there is no record of returned
mail, which suggests that you received the monthly billing statement notifications
for this account and on December 13, 2015, the email address was updated to [redacted].  In addition, if the minimum monthly payment
is not received by the due date shown on your statement, which is the fourth (4th)
for your account, late fees are applied to the account.  I am sending you copies of your billing statements
along with the Credit Card Agreement to the address listed above.  You should receive these documents under
separate cover within 7 to 10 business days.
On January 19, 2016, the
September 2015 late fee in the amount of $25.00 was removed.  Our records show no payments have been made and
because the fees in October 2015 through January 2016 were properly charged, I
must decline your request to remove those late fees.  As of the date of this letter, the
outstanding balance on your account is $258.52, with a payment of $230.54
(including a $185.00 past due amount) due immediately.  On December 8, 2015, the account became four
months past due and was closed.  Kindly
note that while your account is closed, according to the Department Stores
National Bank Credit Card Agreement, if the minimum monthly payment is not
received by the due date shown on your statement, late fees are applied to the
account.  Furthermore, for any month the
balance-in-full is not paid, interest charges are assessed on the balance from
the first day of the billing cycle until the date that your payment is
received.
[redacted], we are sorry for
disappointing you in this matter, but we are required to adhere to specific
policies and procedures so that all of our customers are afforded fair and
consistent treatment.
Sincerely,
Rhea

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  The issue was totally ignored and was NOT addressed.  I was charged TWICE for the same merchandise.  The duplicated funds were replaced a week later.  This is nothing short of THEFT.  I did not purchase twice the items, why do they have the right to take twice the amount from my account?  They did NOT address that question, instead they replied with 'read my policy' which still does NOT explain or give the right to steal money out of my account.

[redacted]   Re:  Revdex.com Complaint [redacted]        Macy’s [redacted] account ending in [redacted]   Dear [redacted]:    I am in receipt of your complaint forwarded to Macy’s Executive Office by the Revdex.com.  As a representative of this office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of Department Stores National Bank.  Please accept my sincere apology for any frustration this matter may have caused you.   According to the terms of the Department Stores National Bank Credit Card Agreement, interest is charged on the outstanding balance of your account until the day you pay the full balance owed on that account type.  For example, if you have been paying only the minimum payments on your balance and you then decide to pay your balance in full, you will be charged interest on that balance from the first day of the billing cycle until the date that your payment is received.  This interest charge is for the money loaned to you during that period, and will appear on the next month’s billing statement.  This may result in a statement containing only an interest charge.  You can avoid being charged interest by paying your account balance in full every month by your payment due date.  In using your account, you consented to the terms of this Agreement, which includes a promise to pay for all purchases, as well as the late fees and interest charges.    In researching this matter, I found that the billing statement for the period ending December 24, 2015, had a $31.37 balance, with a $27.00 minimum payment due by January 20, 2016.  We received your payment of $31.37 on January 21, 2016 (one day late); therefore your account was charged a $27.00 late fee and $2.00 interest charge in accordance with the terms of the Department Stores National Bank Credit Card Agreement.  The billing statement for the period ending January 24, 2016, had a $29.00 balance with a $29.00 minimum payment due by February 20, 2016.  When no payments were received, your account continued to accrue late fees and interest charges. The billing statement for the period ending February 22, 2016, had a $60.00 balance, with a $60.00 minimum payment due by March 20, 2016.  We received your payment of $97.00 on March 21, 2016 (again, one day late), and as a result, a late fee of $37.00 and interest of $2.00 were assessed.  Your billing statement for the period ending March 24, 2016, had a $2.00 interest charge balance, with a $2.00 minimum payment due by April 20, 2016.  No payment was received, and an additional $2.00 interest charge was applied.    We received your payment of $4.00 on May 2, 2016, which brought your account to a current status.  However, the $2.00 interest charge that appeared on your June 20, 2016, billing statement included interest for the outstanding balance on your account between the bill date of April 22, 2016, and the date (May 2, 2016) that your $4.00 payment was applied to your account.  This $2.00 interest charge was removed when you called in on June 1, 2016, and spoke to a Customer Service Representative.  As of the date of this letter, your account is closed with a zero balance.  Enclosed are copies of your billing statements for the periods ending December 24, 2015, through May 24, 2016, as reference.       [redacted], we realize that you have a choice of where to shop and we are sorry that this issue was not resolved sooner.  If I may be of assistance in another matter, do not hesitate to call me at the telephone number listed below.    Sincerely,       Stephanie C. Dear
[redacted]:

As a
representative of Macy's Executive Office, I was asked to review...

and respond to
your concerns.

On
behalf of Macy's, please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience you
experienced when your macys.com orders did cancel. It is never our intent to
disappoint a customer. In this instance, you were unable to order because an
order was disputed in May of 2015. Upon your request, we were able to review
the information and remove any impediments to your placing orders online for
Macy's. Our customer service associate would not have been aware of the
specific reasons the orders were not being placed, only that the verification
process did not permit the order to go forward.

[redacted]
[redacted], thank you  for bringing this
matter to our attention and allowing me to respond. Please do not hesitate to
call me at the telephone number listed below, if I can be of further
assistance.

Sincerely,

Marjorie B.
