My requests to stop fraudulent mail marketing have been ignored.
Last month I received a solicitation from Global Life Insurance in the mail. I normally throw these out however, this one had someone elses name on it and an apartment number. The name and apartment number are fake. The address doesn't exist. I contacted Global Life to report this and asked them to stop sending mail to this fraudulent name and address. Instead of stopping I received two letters this month.

Desired Outcome

I want them to mark the name and address in their database as fraudulent and stop contacting me.

This is in response to your correspondence dated June 8, 2018, regarding the above referenced complaint.

We have placed the name of ***, with the address of 2675 Bruton Branch Rd., ***, TN XXXXX, on our "Do Not Mail" list. We ask that Mr. please allow 60-90 days for this change to take place, as other mailings may have already been processed. Our Marketing Department schedules mailings several months in advance and we are unable to pull his name and address from anything that is already scheduled, but the mailings *** definitely stop after 90 days. If Mr. should move, ask him to please let us know so we can update our list. Please be advised that if anyone using his address inquires about insurance from us in the future, he *** receive mailings again.

In his complaint, Mr. advised that he was receiving solicitations from Globe Life addressed to a fake name and apartment number that do not exist, but he did not provide the details of the fake address. If he will provide the fake address to us we will research this matter and add the address to our Do Not Mail List.

Hopefully, once we receive the details of the address in question from Mr., this action will prevent any further mailings from being sent to Mr. by our company. Please ask Mr. to accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience these mailings may have caused.

I have had a Term Life Insurance policy with Globe for two years now. I requested to have my Term Life Policy converted to a Whole Life Policy. I received the information to signed and date in order for my policy to be converted over. I was told off and on by several employees I spoke with that it could be converted and then it couldn't be converted. According to the paperwork I received it would be converted upon receving the signed paperwork. I was also told that I had to apply for a Whole Life Policy after receiving the conversion letter. I was approved for the Whole Life Policy which the payment amount went up and different then the Term Life Policy. Then I received some information stating that I could do another application for a modified Whole Life Policy wish would be the same amount as my Term Life Policy being converted to a Whole Life Policy.

I accept their response. I am very happy that they agreed to honor the conversion of my term policy. I would also like to know if my whole life policy would be two years old? Since I have been paying my term policy for two years which has now been converted to a whole life policy? When will I receive my whole life policy information? Will my policy number stay the same?

These people are ALWAYS rude and DO NOT know how to do their job correctly. Ive been paying this for 5 years and when I decided to cancel I called and cancelled just to find out two minths later it was never cancelled...when I called again the lady was very rude and a smart *** so I mentioned how rude she was and she got more upset...ive never been talked to so rudely before!!!

I cancelled in December. Keep receiving bills. Now, I received an email stating my account has been billed. ILLEGAL!
In December, I cancelled my 6 policies with Globe. Originally, I made the request by email. I received a confirmation email each time I sent correspondence by email.

Eventually, I called Globe and spoke to a representative. She assured me I would receive confirmation (in the mail) within 30 days. However, I kept receiving bills, requesting payment.

I contacted Globe again and explained to the representative that I had already emailed a few times and spoken with someone. This should have been handled already.

He kept me on the phone for a very long time, stating he had to delete each one individually and that it would take a while. I stayed on the phone while he called out each person's name and stated what he was doing, verifying information and then finally, saying he had deleted each policy (all 6). He also stated that I would receive confirmation in the regular mail (although I insisted that I get something by email, just as proof that I had attempted to close the accounts.

NOTHING!

Here it is 5 months down the line and I got an email today stating that 3 of the 6 accounts had been paid through August.

I am livid!!! It does not make sense that I should have to go through this. I was told I would get a refund (around $120+, can't remember the exact amount, because I had the policies for awhile). This is why I'm requesting $200 (this would include the $77).

I was originally considering getting the insurance again, when I am in a better position (went through a divorce). Now, I intend to tell others how awful Globe really is.

The president of this company needs to be notified of how badly customers are being treated.

Desired Outcome

Refund and Close the accounts. If not resolved, I am seeking a legal resolution.

Globe Life has reviewed recordings of telephone calls with *** and found the following occurred:

On 12/28/17, Ms. contacted Globe Life via telephone requesting cancellation of her six policies. The policies were taken off recurring bank draft and placed on direct billing; however, none of them were cancelled, as requested.

On 02/16/18, Ms. called again requesting cancellation of the six policies. At this time, only policies #00YXXXXXX and #004RXXXXX were cancelled. That's why Ms. continued to receive premium notices for the other four policies.

Please extend our sincerest apologies to Ms. for these oversights and any confusion or inconvenience they may have caused. This matter has been brought to the attention of management in our Retention Unit for further review and appropriate action.

On 05/20/18, after policies #00YXXXXXX, #00YXXXXXX, and #00YXXXXXX were lapsed for more than 120 days, our computer system used the cash value to process an automatic premium loan (APL), paying each for seven months. The APL is processed automatically if a policyholder hasn't chosen one of the other nonforfeiture options within 60 days after the premium due date.

On 05/23/18, the APLs were removed from policies #00YXXXXXX, #00YXXXXXX, and #00YXXXXXX.

On 05/25/18, policies #00YXXXXXX, #00YXXXXXX, and #00YXXXXXX were surrendered for their cash value. The following checks were issued to *** on that date:

Check #XXXXXXX Policy #00YXXXXXX $ 90.84
Check #XXXXXXX Policy #002YXXXXX $ 82.84
$292.18

On 05/31/18, the surrender checks were released for mailing. We ask that Ms. please allow at least 10 BUSINESS days to receive the checks, as our mail is sorted at an off-site facility before being delivered to the US Postal Service for mailing.

As you can see from their explanation, I requested that the accounts be closed, several times. In fact, I even emailed three times asking the same thing.

I don't usually complain. I would rather work things out cordially. Unfortunately, if I had not been persistent, it would have been to my detriment.

Globe should consider providing confirmations of customers' requests. Outside of that, a person has no way to truly prove their correspondence.

At this point, I am satisfied with the result. I have changed my mind about recommending them to others though.

Globe Life Insurance Stonewalls Sickly Beneficiary
The beneficiary,(Daughter of the deceased that suffers from severe kidney disease and has to undergo dialysis three times weekly) and I initially spoke to "Austin' in Customer Service who was very polite and sympathetic and expressed his sadness about our loss. He gave us the status of our claim as "Pending" which was not very helpful, but he connected us that Claims Department.
Claims said our claim was in Medical Review and it is uncertain how long that would take. So, I asked to speak to a Manager or Supervisor and the Claims rep said that would be Claims Resolutions Department. That's when we were introduced to "Asia" and the tone of the conversation turned from polite ( as was the case with the aforementioned contacts) to defensive to ultimately hostile. I explained that the claims had been pending for three months and the survivors, whom are poor, have to solicit donations from the church, family and friends to scrape up just enough to have Mr. Canady cremated in stead of a proper funeral with a casket and burial. Asia showed no concern whatsoever and said the claims was contestable, Globe had requested multiple documents from the Madison County Texas Justice of the Peace and Medical Review also remained to be completed. The documents Asia referenced included an investigation report (which is the same as the Madisonville Police Department report that Globe already has) ; a toxicology and autopsy report ( which is the Montgomery County Forensic Services Department Autopsy report which I personally provided to Globe after receiving it from the Madison County Texas Justice of the Peace office) and "medical records" ( Asia did not explain why Globe would think a County official would possess the deceased medical history). When I challenged Asia on these points, she became very argumentative. I asked her if she would be willing to personally do whatever possible to expedite the receipt of any needed documents and she refused. She ended the conversation with an extremely sarcastic "you have a nice day".

Equitable payment of the life insurance benefit

I have talked to several Globe representatives about the difficulties they have caused in payment of thus claim and Globe has a recods of tgese contacts and coukd have easily identified the case

Policy #009JXXXXX, insuring the life of Joe L. Canady, is a term life policy issued effective 04/26/17 in the amount of $10,000.00. *** is not the owner or the beneficiary of this policy. However, because our records indicate the beneficiary, Avery Canady, has given prior permission for Globe Life to speak with Mr. on her behalf regarding this claim, the Company is providing this response.

Joe Canady passed *** 02/13/18 - 10 months after the policy was issued - due to blunt force trauma to the head and neck. Mr. Canady's death occurred during the two-year contestability period of the policy. As such, the Company conducted its usual and routine investigation concerning Mr. Canady's past health history.

Because of the importance of an insurance company receiving true and accurate information, the law provides that, for a period of two years from the date of issue, an insurance company may deny a claim on an insurance policy when the application for insurance contains incorrect or incomplete statements, which, if known, would have caused the company not to have issued the policy. In such a case, the insurance company's obligation is to refund the premiums paid for the policy.

Although Mr. Canady's death was due to accidental means, Globe Life still has the right to conduct its usual and routine investigation concerning his past health history because the State of Texas does not require a connection between any undisclosed health history and the cause of death in order to rescind a life insurance policy for material misrepresentations on an application.

There was an initial delay in processing this claim because proof of death (death certificate) was not received until 04/10/18 - two months after death. It was also necessary to request information from Madison Police Department, Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, and Montgomery County Coroner's Office in order to complete process the claim.

All requested information has been received and our evaluation of this contestable claim is now complete. A check (#XXXXXX) in the amount of $10,058.93 was issued to Avery Canady on 07/05/18. The amount paid represents the $10,000.00 basic policy face amount, plus $71.42 interest, less the $12.49 premium due on the date of death.

We ask that Ms. Canady please allow at least 10 BUSINESS days to receive this check, as our mail is sorted at an off-site facility before being delivered to the US Postal Service for mailing.

I have had Globe life insurance for more than 30 yrs,and have always had someone on the other end willing to take their time to see what I need to do. I make my payments on line and sometimes I will ask a question that may sound foolish to me but somehow they know what I'm trying to ask and help me out. always a pleasure to take to any of the customer service people.
