Debt Recovery Solutions Reviews (662)

Review: Last year I started to receive strange letters from a collection agency called "Debt Recovery Solutions ,INC." based in NY . The claim was that I owed an unpaid ([redacted]) bill from almost 2 ½ years ago of the amount of $412.65. To my knowledge, this has been taken care of. My bills are always paid and paid swiftly . I am receiving the same letters /notices every 3 months or so, with no accompanying proof or copies of bill or anything to substantiate the account and it being in collection. I explained to Debt Recovery that this bill is inaccurate and to contact [redacted] for the facts. I also called [redacted] Florida, immediately and they had apologized and said they sent this to collections and it was out of their hands. They explained to me that the fee is for not returning their products after service was cancelled. This is not true as we returned all products back to them via mail. They gave us return postage stickers and empty boxes which we used to return all of their items. I explained to them that this charge was incorrect. Unfortunately there is nothing they can do as the bill now belongs to Debt Recovery Solutions. This bill is also showing up on my credit report. This is incredible! I spent the time to pack up these products nicely and drop off at a [redacted] store and this is what I get in return! Why would I want to keep [redacted] cable boxes when I know longer use there services?Desired Settlement: I am requesting that this derogatory mark be removed from my credit report immediately . [redacted] and/or Debt Solution Recovery, please re-investigate this matter and delete the disputed claim as soon as possible.

Review: I check my [redacted] credit report daily. I have been working hard to get my credit up to purchase a house for my family. When I opened it on 7/*, I noticed I had a derogatory mark on my credit from this company. They claim I took a loan out of $315.00 for [redacted] on 1/**/2011 as [redacted]. I did not take out this loan, I would not have been able to. I was married and named changed as [redacted] on 6/**/2009. I would have had to provide a valid license and check as [redacted]. When I called this company and told them my dispute, I was brushed off. I have not been able to get anywhere with this company. The lack of professionalism is outstanding!Desired Settlement: I would like to have the this derogatory account removed from all 3 of my credit reports.

Review: I contacted this company to find out why they have my name and a collection for Washington County Hospital from 2009 when I lived in Pennsylvania at that time. The lady I spoke to was very rude while all I wanted to know was how to dispute the claim. I contacted Washington County Hospital, which is 4 hours away from where I currently live and found out that my name, date of birth, and social security number did NOT match anything in their files. Also, they only use one credit recovery company and Debt Recovery is NOT the one they use. I contacted Debt Recovery immediately and was informed that I did not know what I was talking about. I believe they do not have credible information because I was not ever at that hospital or even in the state of Georgia until 2010. My concern is that this is negative to my credit and they will not do anything about it.Desired Settlement: Immediate removal from credit report

Review: Debt Recovery Solutions recently contacted me last week in regards to collecting on a bill. The amount of the bills are $219.00 and $166.00, these two accounts were included in my bankruptcy. Debt Recovery Solutions are aware of this, yet they still call attempting to collect. I advised them of the filing and discharge and the representative stated that they were not a call center and could not contact my attorney. They are also sending bills in the mail in which I still have after the chapter 7 discharge. The account numbers are account# [redacted]account# [redacted]Desired Settlement: Discontinue contacting me regarding collection on this bill that was filed in the chapter 7 filing.

Sincerely,

Review: I tried contacting this company regarding the collection letter they had sent me to tell them this was sent to me by mistake, I tried explaining to them that I have never had a cell phone account with US Cellular and the debt isn't mine. She hung up on me instead of letting me explain myself, on top of it all she was very rude with me for no reason. She decided the best thing to do would be to hang up on me twice! So I called back to try again, I asked for her to stop calling and sending letters since this debt isn't mine. She said that I wanted a cease and desist done on my account, and I said yes. But before that I was trying to explain myself and the situation, but she kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise about the situation, and decided to hang up on me again for the third time with out letting me talk regarding this matter. They were being very hawkish towards me to try and collect a debt that isn't mine, the level of rudeness I was just amazed at, instead of listening to me they decided to just hang up.Desired Settlement: I want this debt completely taken off my credit.

Review: This company contacted me in regard to a billing collection with [redacted]. I asked for proof of this debt and they asked if I was disputing it. I said yes; [redacted] doesn't have any information on this debt and I am a current customer of [redacted] in good standing. The gentlemen, a [redacted] (?? He refused to repeat his name and hung up on me when I asked at the end of our conversation), told me that it would be a 30-60 day process. I called back a 6 weeks later and was hung up on as soon as I asked if they had contacted [redacted]. I called back and a woman answered this time, no name given, and was extremely rude, yelling over the phone, that this is my problem, not [redacted]'s and she would ask her [redacted] why I had not received information at my home address. I verified my correct address and reminded her that her job was customer service and told her to watch her tone with customers. I am willing to pay this debt if I owe it. Otherwise, I need it off of my credit report. I have no bill from [redacted]. No proof from any billing from [redacted] or this Debt Solutions. Please help!Desired Settlement: I'd like this off of my credit or a billing summary with proof from [redacted] what these charges are for. Since [redacted] cant verify these charges, I expect the collection company to. Also, I'd like them to recieve some sort of reprimand or monitored phone calls in the manner of customer service!

Review: I am filing a compliant against the collection agency Debt Recovery Solutions in the amount of $690. This company started to report to my credit April of 2015 without me being aware of any collection. Not only are they reporting to my credit now every month, they are stating that I am over 90 days behind on payment to them. Again, I have not been aware of the collection until August 2015 (which is when I received a mail notification). The information is damaging to my credit and is friviolous and I am requesting that it be removed immediately. I have contacted the company twice and was hung up on because I challenged the fraudulent information.Desired Settlement: This needs to be removed from my credit

When the company calls, it is a recording asking if the respondent is [redacted] and provides a number to call to have your name removed from the list. I have called 3 times to have my name removed from the list and continue to receive calls from these people. Sincerely,

Review: DRS has been unable to provide validation of the debt acquired from Sleepy's. To the best of my knowledge, I have not opened a Sleepy's account. DRS did not have a correct address for me on file either. However, I called to inquire and request statements to gather if someone else might have used my information to apply for the card without my knowledge. The only solution offered was to send in bank statements proving that payment was made on the account to bring the balance to $0. I said that I would try to look for any documents or letters received from Sleepy's, because I had confused it with a different credit card account I had closed, but I don't expect to find anything from Sleepy's as I've never opened an account myself.Desired Settlement: Please either provide validation of the debt so that I can try to find out who used my card and report fraudulent activity on my credit. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: There are too many reasons to enumerate as to the nature of my complaint about this company. Here is my explanation. While applying for a mortgage, I found this company was listed as filing a [redacted] debt collection action against me. I tried to contact them on numerous occasions at the direction of my lender. I could never speak to a supervisor or manager when requested. Customer service failed to provide assistance. They hung up the phone on me on several occasions. They were rude, ignorant, arrogant and exhibited unprofessional behavior especially by a [redacted]. After numerous attempts to get the error removed from my credit report, I was told to fax my information (proof that [redacted] had been paid in full) to a [redacted], who I now find out is a [redacted]. I did this over 4 weeks ago and never heard a thing. Two weeks later I called again and was told the debt was "closed". I asked for a letter stating that it was closed AND that it was deleted from my credit report (per my lender). I was told, in order to get a letter stating this, I would have to speak to a supervisor but there were no supervisors to speak with regarding this at that very moment. After I insisted I would hold on the phone, I was put on hold and, about 5 minutes later, the representative came back and asked me for my email address and said the supervisor would have this letter emailed to me. It's been over 3 weeks now and I still do not have the letter. Today I called again and got [redacted] who hung up on me. I called back and got a woman who kept talking over me, not letting me explain what I was looking for. I gave her my Social Security number and she came back to tell me the collection was closed. Again, I explained I had been waiting for a letter stating it was closed AND removed from my credit report. I asked to speak to a supervisor as she would not listen to me and kept talking over me, getting ruder and ruder, She finally put me on hold and a few minutes later a [redacted] came on the phone to tell me their collection was closed. AGAIN, I explained what I needed and, after several minutes of talking over me, Finally she said she would email me a letter stating it was closed. I AGAIN insisted that they remove it from my credit report and was told point blankly that it was up to me to see if it had been removed and I could do that by requesting a credit report be run at my expense. This company and it's employees have failed to provide the requested service they are to supply. This has been an unreasonable and excessive delay which is hurting my credit and causing me to spend an enormous amount of time and cost with my lender, possibly losing a house we are purchasing. They are unethical in their behavior. I have never received one piece of correspondence from them regarding debt collection to this date. They reported me to the credit bureau without contacting me and without validating to me the supposed debt. As stated previously, I only found out about this collection from a credit report pulled by my mortgage lender. This collection company has failed to respond via phone, internet or regular mail to any requests for assistance.Desired Settlement: I want a letter from this scam company stating the debt has been closed AND REMOVED from my credit report.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseAlthough I did receive an email, with a letter attached, 2 days after the date I was promised, the letter is insufficient legally in the fact that it is not signed and was in the form of a fully editable Word document which anyone could alter. I also do not appreciate and am greatly offended by their unprofessionalism in my entire communications with them and being addressed in this letter as "Dear f" followed by my last name. Debt Recovery's apology in this letter is insufficent in that it does not address their tactic of affecting my credit score without providing any proof to me of the "alleged debt". There had been absolutely no communication between the company and myself until I found it on my credit report on November *, 2014 and contacted them. The credit report showed that Debt Recovery had "opened" the bogus debt on their records affecting my credit since July 2014. Note: they were required by law to send me a debt validation notice within five (5) days of the first communication with me in early November which I never received. This is required under [redacted] Section [redacted] opinion letter [redacted] from [redacted] and therefore they are subject to a fine of $1,000 which I may proceed on legally.Given Debt Recovery's actions and business practices, I cannot consider this complaint closed until I have written evidence of this alleged debt being completely expunged from my credit report and an acceptable explanation of why they failed to follow the [redacted] guidelines.

Response:

(

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The amount DRS reported on my credit report did not match the amount of the final bill (which was immediately paid in full upon notification of the final amount from [redacted]) and I still have not received any notification from DRS showing their proof of this alleged debt. Contrary to [redacted]'s comments, DRS violated federal law when they did not provide this information to me. Also, [redacted]'s response to you differs from what he claims in his letter to me. In his response to you, he claims that this matter has been closed yet, in his letter to me, he claims that it should be closed. Also, he gives an AUD # and refers to [redacted] which is useless to me because, as an individual, I cannot access [redacted] to confirm this has been done. He also says it is being processed. Processed does not indicate a final resolution and this is an important point given that their actions have shown I cannot trust them. Yet again, in this most recent letter, my name is MISSPELLED which is an extremely important part of claiming someone owes a debt. This seriously brings into question their claims of accuracy and following federal guidelines because it is clearly evident they are inaccurate when they cannot even match my name with this bogus claim. [redacted] couches his responses with various phrases drawing attention in another direction while saying the problem has been resolved. He also tells the Revdex.com one thing, yet his letter tells me something different. Why is this? How can I trust them to be accurate in what they claim that they have done to resolve this matter? I demand written proof, not merely a confirmation code, that this matter has been completely resolved and deleted from my credit report by [redacted]. I also demand that they fulfill their obligations under the [redacted] and provide me with their proof of this alleged debt as they should have within five (5) days of the contact with [redacted] back in November.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: Multiple calls after giving them a week to correct. Called March [redacted] and faxed in the proof that it was paid by my insurance, and after talking with my insurance they suggested settling the collection for $25. So I waited a week and never received a call or settlement letter for that amount. I called in today spoke with J[redacted] who claimed there was no such information on the account and he couldn't make it so and asked if a manager could call me back, I said no and asked to speak to a manager now. Matthew S[redacted] got on the phone and was incredibly rude with me still not willing to answer my questions even about my previous calls saying his father was the owner Elliot S[redacted], he passed me off to a Jennifer F[redacted] and she also was rude, not allowing me to speak or ask my questions and said she would call me tomorrow and hung up on me. I still had questions about my account and how they did business and called back on 2 of their 800 numbers a total of ten more times and spoke with a Y[redacted] (EID [redacted]), J[redacted] again (refused to give an EID), a H[redacted], or I was told they do not have to talk with me or get a manager or I was met with silence. Every single on of those calls met with a straight hang up or putting me on hold. I gave them more than a week to resolve this illegitimate debt and take it off my account but they refused to explain fully with me or answer my questions and treated me so poorly in the process, it was despicable.Desired Settlement: At first, I was willing to settle this for 25 or 50 dollars, but after today it should not be anything more than 5 dollars.

Review: I am living out of the country and still maintain a home in [redacted] ,** . Last year I started to receive strange letters from a collection agency called "Debt Recovery Solutions ,INC." based in [redacted] . The claim was that I owed an unpaid bill from [redacted] of the amount of $79.92 .

We have never used [redacted] for any phone services to my knowledge and always paid any due bills swiftly .

I am receiving the same letters /notices every 3 months or so ,with no accompanying proof or copies of bill or anything to substantiate the account and it being in collection.

I feel that this appears to be a scam and /or a phishing scheme to gather funds illegally from people . Seems there are hundreds of complaints about this company.

Would be nice to resolve this and I hope this fraudulent company has not reduced my near perfect credit score .Desired Settlement: Would like for this company to desist in sending me any further letters and any other contact . Sincerely,

Review: I got an alert today on my credit report that Debit Recovery Solutions was trying to collect a debt and put it on my credit report. I contacted them and they said it was my bill. I explained that I never lived at that address and I never was issued that phone number from [redacted]. Further investigation I found out that it was my mothers bill and not mine. For some reason it got linked to my SS#. Though we do have the same 1st name we do not have the same last name. The rep from DRS told me that your mother must have stole your SS# and I all had to do was pay the bill to get it taken off of my credit report. I was shocked to here that she was telling me my mother would do something like that and that I had to hear that I had to pay a bill that was not mine. I contacted [redacted] and they told me that in order to get service you would have to provide your SS# and address and Licience number and it would have to match. I legally had my name changed when I got married in 2002. So even if my mother tried to use my SS# it would not have matched at all. These people are so rude it's sickens me. I tried to give them [redacted] number and [redacted] said I'm not calling anyone. When I asked for her 1st name she wouldn't give it to me and said they only go by last names. When I called back to give even more information on my case [redacted] wouldn't let me speak and then I said please hear me out and then she said this phone call is over and hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I want this completely removed from my credit report, not only that it's been satisfied COMPLETELY gone. I don't even want to see it on there. Also I would like a letter from Debit Recovery Solutions stating that it was THEIR mistake and it should have never been put on their in the 1st place. Apology for their lack of customer service would be great as well.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: This agency has sent me a bill in the amount of $463.85 for a supposed debt with Verizon New York Inc. I owe no such debt, but yet the burden of proof is on me. The letter states that I must respond in 30 days or the debt will be deemed valid, even though no proof has been provided that the debt belongs to me. This is outrageously unethical. This debt is NOT mine and I should not have to request additional information, nor respond at all for such a wild, baseless, accusation. Not to mention, the address is not even accurate. My home is not an apartment; there is no apartment number. It is not even remotely reasonable to send what appears to be junk mail and make a statement that a lack of response indicates responsibility. How outrageous! What if I were traveling for 30 days? What if I threw this out like any other junk mail I receive? I am demanding that this debt be removed from my name/address and that this company find the correct individual. I am able to see that my credit report is still squeaky clean- just pulled it. No debt to anyone, anywhere is listed. Don't you think I would show a balance or account in poor standing with Verizon New York Inc, if, indeed, I owed a debt? I expect a response from this agency and a letter stating their resolution. An apology would be appropriate, too. I am utterly disgusted with this "business" practice.

2/**/2014

Today, I was able to call during business hours. I informed the woman that I was not calling to schedule a payment, but to dispute the bill. Her response was, "Well, then who lived at [redacted]?" To which, I replied, "That's a great question. You tell me. I certainly never lived there." She said she would list my account as "in dispute" and not report it on my credit....yet. She said she would send me forms.

I still do not understand how the burden of proof is on me?!!!!! This is not my bill and there is no basis for this. I should not have to dignify this with a response at all; nor be thankful that they are holding off on attaching this to my credit history- soooooo unethical and, presumably, illegal! The woman would not allow me to verify by SS#. Just kept saying, "have a nice day"....over and over again. I have never in my entire life had to PROVE that I do not owe a debt which has absolutely nothing to do with me just because some crackpot company is sending out bills to anyone under the sun in hopes they will entrap someone. Yes, I have a common first name. Yes, I once lived in the state of New York. Sorry, but that doesn't mean I owe you money. This cannot possibly be a legal practice! I can't even follow their 45 degrees of separation to understand how they think billing me is even remotely appropriate. Did they [redacted] everyone with my name and send every single one a bill and then hope that, minimally, one of us wouldn't catch the illegal jargon that we must reply in 30 days or the debt is deemed valid? [redacted]????!!!!!!!! I hope this place is forced out of business extremely soon. So outrageous. I am still demanding a letter of resolution, not just a pending status of "in dispute". Unreal.Desired Settlement: A letter of apology and stating the appropriate resolution by Debt Recovery Solutions, which is to remove me from your database and find the correct individual- NOT ME! I want, in writing, that the debt will no longer be attached to my name/address and that this will not appear on my credit report....which would be even more outrageous!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved; however, I do still feel this company is unethical/corrupt and requires extreme vigilance from the Revdex.com. Summarily, I should not have ever had to contact the Revdex.com or respond in any way to a company trying to collect a debt I do not and have not ever owed.
