ATS Processing Services Reviews (1313)

Review: Picked up a Hertz 2-day rental on 8/29 evening and returned 8/31 evening for weekend trip. Paid entire bill on 8/31 and two weeks later saw a charge for $15.85 from PLATEPASSHERTZTOLLS. I was using my E-ZPass all long my trip and was surprised to see this toll charge. When I called them I was informed that a $1 toll on 8/30 was not assessed on my E-ZPass and was automatically charged to Plate Pass! Plus a $4.95 per calendar day administration fee was levied to bring my total to $15.85 = $4.95 x 3 calendar days + $1 tollDesired Settlement: I would like a refund of the exorbitant administration fee charged. A $1 toll leading to a $15.85 bill is atrocious.

Review: Received a letter stating that I owed 30 usd from a violation I do not recall. I asked for evidence they don't have it. I spoke to [redacted] employee number [redacted] on the 8/12/2015 and he told me that they will just access my credit card if I dont pay he claim to be part of American Traffic Solution yet the referal website is [redacted].[redacted].[redacted]Desired Settlement: Proof of violation from [redacted]

Response:

Dear [redacted], Thank you for contacting the ATS Processing Services. We would be happy to assist you in regard to Notice Number [redacted]. When we receive a violation from the issuing authority we will have two options depending on when we receive the notice. We can either transfer the violation out of the registered rental car company’s name and into your name or we will be responsible for making payment towards the violation to prevent further penalties. In this instance the issuing authority did transfer the liability for the violation into your name. The issuing authority has reissued the violation in your name and should mail it to you at the address on file. If you feel this violation was issued in error or you feel you should not have received this violation, please contact the issuing authority to dispute the violation directly. We will not be able to dispute the violation on your behalf. As we value you as a renter, we will waive this $30.00 administrative fee as a one-time courtesy. Please be advised that there will be an administrative fee on any future violations that occur in rental vehicles, and we would not be able to waive it as a courtesy. We hope that this information is helpful. Best Regards, ATS Processing Services

Review: My complaint is in regards to multiple items:

1. Failed to provide support for violation

2. Excessive Charges ($15 on a $1 toll violation)

3. Customer Support (or lack of)

I rented a car through [redacted]. I later received a toll violation of $1 for [redacted] EZ Pass plus a $15 processing fee. I do not feel that the toll violation was a valid charge. I have explained the reason I do not feel it is a valid charge to ATS Processing Services employees multiple times. I have contacted [redacted] to try to validate the toll charge. [redacted] requires a toll violation number., which ATS Processing has not been able to provide even though I have requested multiple times. In order for me to validate the toll charge or get documentation that the toll is invalid, I need the toll violation number. ATS has not been able to provide me with this number or any additional documentation to support the charge. The employees said it was on my original bill. I did find the number and will be calling [redacted] for information, A $15 processing fee on a $1 toll is excessive.

I asked for a waiver of the fee since they had not been able to provide me with the information needed to get documentation from [redacted]. The employees I have spoken to, do not have the authorization to waive or adjust the fee. I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone who had the authority to waive this fee. A supervisor has not been available on either time I have requested to speak with one. When the supervisor called back, he left a voice mail message, which said if I needed to speak to a supervisor to call back. However, he does not provide a direct line or even a number for supervisors. He provides the same 800 number that I have called multiple times and you cannot reach a supervisor. I am waiting on a call back within the next 48 hours on my second request to speak to a supervisor.

Customer Service:

I was on the phone for 36 minutes today and the majority of that was on-hold. I am generally on hold for at least 20 minutes for my call to be answered. I don't consider a voice mail giving me the same number I have called before to be a response from a supervisor.

I have not paid this bill as a matter of principal. I do not feel the charge is valid and have not been provided requested information.Desired Settlement: I would like for ATS to waive the fee as well as the $1.00 toll violation. (reverse the charges I am being billed. A refund is not required since I have not paid this bill.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concern. It is our goal to provide you with excellent customer service.

[redacted] recorded a toll via transponder during your rental at the [redacted] Main location. These tolls are reported to ATS electronically and do not contain images. As a courtesy we have adjusted the $1 toll charge and $15 admin fee. This account no reflects a $0 balance.

Again, thank you for contacting us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Review: It is obvious I'm not the only one who has complained about this company and its services. I rented a car from Hertz car rental on trip in Florida. I read about using Plate Pass in a pamphlet I recieved after renting the car. I remembering it saying that it would charge me $5 and some odd change for using the Ez-pass Toll, I cant remember the exact amount for I do not keep the pamphlet after the trip. 2 weeks after the trip I noticed a Charge in the amount of $26.00 to my account from PlatePass, wichs seem very odd for only using the service once on 1 pass throught the Toll. Not only do I believe I was overcharged for the service, but they do NOT explain the details of there services. Especially for the amount that I was charged. This service was also NEVER mentioned, or explained to me by the HERTZ rental company.Desired Settlement: I would like these charges to my account to be corrected.

Regards,

Review: I rented a car from [redacted] on several occasions in June and July within the state of [redacted]. Toll booths in [redacted] have become completely cashless, and work based on taking a picture of the car's license plate and billing the vehicle owner. There is no way to proactively pay this toll per the [redacted] Toll Authority's website, so renters have no choice but to incur ATS' outrageous $4.95/day fee. There's no alternative to use your own transponder, nor is there an option to pay with cash at the time of driving through the toll. Upon explaining this all to ATS Customer Service, they informed me that I should've either called to pay the toll before it was sent to [redacted] (and subsequently to ATS), or I should've used my own transponder (which, in this case, would mean using my own license plates?). ATS should not be able to charge service fees in [redacted] given that the consumer has no alternative besides avoiding toll roads altogether.Desired Settlement: I was billed twice for times I passed through cashless toll booths:

Invoice [redacted] - $19.80 in service fees

Invoice [redacted] - $14.85 in service fees

I have no problem with paying the toll charges, but I expect a refund of the $34.65 I was charged in administrative fees.

Review: While driving a [redacted] rental car during a vacation to Florida in May we unwittingly triggered a photo toll charge on [redacted] on May 4, 2015. In fact 2 charges $1.30 and $1.04, we were unaware of these charges. After our return a charge of $27.09 appeared on my [redacted] from Platepass.

My complaint is two fold, one with the outrageous $4.95 per day administration fee charged apparently immediately, the other with the fact that they do not send a bill or invoice giving me a chance to pay and avoid these charges. This is obviously deliberate so they can gouge mostly unsuspecting tourists.

As of June 30,2015 I still have not received an invoice or statement showing the payment they have taken from my ** without my consent.

Rental contract # [redacted], return date 05/15/2015.Desired Settlement: Refund outrageous $27.09 charge and bill me for the actual charges of $ 2.34 .

Also you should look into these predatory billing practices, this is just not right.

ATS Processing Services, LLC just want my money.

They send me a bill for a toll road in Vancouver, BC even though they DO NOT serve the state of British Columbia (according to their website, they don't have customers in BC).

I have purchased the passes before I used the toll road in Vancouver; however, they still send me a bill.

This proofs that they only want 'Free Money' from me.

Shame on you ATS....!!!

Review: I rented a vehicle with [redacted] on 3/13/2014 and returned the vehicle on 3/17/2014 in Orlando, FL. When picking up the vehicle they disclosed they contract with PlatePass to provide automatic toll deduction if desired. I declined this service but was told I was unable to do as it was automatic and was informed I needed to pay cash for tolls. I proceeded to pay cash for all tolls during the trip to Orlando which I may add was a work trip. [redacted] nor the PlatePass agreement never disclosed the need to receive a receipt for each toll to confirm that it was indeed paid with cash. I went home not thinking anything of it when I proceeded to receive a bill from PlatePass in the amount of $24.05. I was charged an administrative fee in the amount of $4.95 per day and 3 tolls all of which were paid in cash. When I called to dispute this, I was told this could not be waived as I did not have a receipt claiming cash payment.

This seems like a very easy way for businesses such as [redacted] and PlatePass to collect money from consumers and the consumers have no way to validate the fact they paid cash as I was never informed of a need to receive a receipt to confirm. Furthermore, many of the toll booths no Attendent is present. When they deny claims; how can the consumer fight back when the nature of the service was never fully disclosed. I for one, even asked for this feature to be disabled from my rental vehicle and was told clearly that was not a possibility. This essentially forces consumers into this system and in essence allows for improper collection of monies from consumers. I think this is highly inappropriate on the part of [redacted] and PlatePass and is false advertising and forceful of consumers.Desired Settlement: When I spoke to the supervisor they waived 3 of the 4 administrative days but I am still liable for $9.20. While I am paying this because I do not want to have any issues with credit later on, I am extremely unhappy to do this when I paid in cash for EVERY toll. If I was told a receipt should be collected to do this, I would have gladly abided by this as kept receipts for everything else. My desired outcome would be a refund check for $9.20 and for [redacted] and PlatePass to disclose the need for receipts if paying cash or declining this service thus not trapping the consumers. This should be a service that can be turned off or taken out if consumer so desires to avoid this process which seems like an easy way for PlatePass to get money.

Response:

Dear [redacted], The toll authority reported the rental vehicle assigned to your rental contract drove through their toll facility without remitting the required toll payment. Vehicles that do not have a valid toll transponder are identified and placed into violation review. As your rental vehicle was registered with PlatePass®, the toll authority simply charged for the proper toll amounts. Without this service costly toll violations could have been issued. PlatePass® is pleased to have avoided inadvertent violations on your behalf. We believe you paid cash for tolls during your rental period; normally we request receipts for 3 or more tolls on claim of paid cash. In this case, we have decided to issue a full refund as a one-time courtesy. When paying cash in the future, please keep your cash receipts as we will need these in order to issue any future refunds. [redacted] offers the PlatePass® Service for $4.95 per rental day ($24.75 max per rental month), plus tolls if PlatePass® is activated during your rental period. The details surrounding the PlatePass® service are contained on page 3 of your rental contract. PlatePass® is an automated electronic toll payment service that enables rental car customers to use high speed, cashless toll lanes to avoid having to stop and pay tolls with cash. We are committed to providing the highest level of customer service and apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. Review: Platepass toll services operates through rental car agancies. I rented a car from Hertz and discovered a $25 charge on my credit card statement for a $5 toll. I called Hertz who directed me to Platepass. I am awaiting a response from a digital dispute submission from Platepass.

I'm filing this complaint because I was not aware of how Hertz and Platepass were operating at the time of rental. I did not know I would be charged daily for Platepass. I didn't even know I had Platepass services. Because the charge is relatively small, I suspect many people may not even notice it on their bills, and many who do, will not bother with the time and headache involved in disputing the charges. In other words, I suggest that Platepass is making a lot of money on uneducated and unaware consumers, who would otherwise stop at the toll both (which is no longer possible on some toll roads) and pay the more modest toll.

A quick web search reveals that there are quite a few people who feel that they were fleeced by Platepass.Desired Settlement: Oversight of Platepass and their parent company - it should be crystal clear at the time of rentail how the charges will be incurred, and I should also have the option to pay for tolls directly. Platepass is screwing the people $20 at a time. Thank you.

Response:

[redacted],

After reviewing the details of your inquiry, we have determined the charge in the amount of $25.80 was for one toll accessed during your rental period, as well as for the use of the electronic toll payment service offered by PlatePass® while under rental agreement [redacted].

Hertz offers the PlatePass® service for $4.95 per rental day ($24.75 max per rental month), plus tolls if PlatePass® is activated during your rental period. The details surrounding the PlatePass® service are contained on page 3 of your rental contract, which was signed prior to receiving keys to the rental vehicle. Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I appreciate Platepass offering a refund for most of the daily service fees while I was in possession of the rental vehicle. Given the fact that I am a Fastrak customer, it seems that Platepass has no right to any revenue based on my rental. I was never offered the option to bring my own transponder into the vehicle.

That being said, my complaint is less about the $20, and more about what I felt were unethical business practices. The details of the Platepass contract were buried in page 3 of my rental agreement, and the Hertz agent failed to direct my attention to this information. If an investigation into Platepass revenue were to occur, I'm willing to bet that the portion associated with the Platepass usage fees are at least triple the portion associated with actual toll costs. Of course, I have no way of finding out the truth here unless the Revdex.com intervenes or Platepass offers up confidential information. In the meantime, I maintain that Platepass has created a business that preys on people who are either misinformed or uneducated, and this is wrong. Platepass and Hertz get rich $20 at a time, while regular consumers get screwed.

Review: this company has charged me for a parking violation when the rental car wasn't in the area that they claim the xilation occured. The vehicle was parked in my sons garage and then I returned it to the [redacted] airport at 10 am on the morning when they said I was in some park at 4 am. This is a false claim. Review: Rented a car from Dollar rental car at 1:11pm on December 27, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio and returned the rental car to the same location around 10 am on December 29, 2013 to the same location in Dayton, Ohio. Received a two letters stating that the car I rented was charged a toll in Albany, New York at 3:40pm on December 27, 2013. A total of $156.85 of citations and tolls were charged to the vehicle that was issued to my from the rental car company during the time frame I had the rental car. There is no physical way that I could have made it over 600 miles from Dayton, Ohio to Albany, New York in under two hours. I also returned the car to rental company with only 500 miles used during that time frame. On February 3, 2013 the company charged me for the tolls that were charged to the car from New York and New Jersey. I contacted the company on February 5, 2014 to disput the charges and to get a refund of the $156.85. The Customer service representative stated that I should expect my refund after and investigation concerning the charges have occurred which would take 10 days. It is currently day 20 and the website provide is not accepting disputes at this time and the toll free number has me on hold for over an hour without any human contact.Desired Settlement: Request refund of the $156.85 I was charged for tolls that were erroneously charged to me.

Regards,

Review: I rented a car at the [redacted] airport from 6/12/14 to 6/16/14 and my credit card was later charged by PlatePass (ATS) on two separate dates for toll charges that I did not incur during this rental period. On 7/8/14 my card was charged $28.12, and $.75 on 8/7/14, for tolls on dates (6/12 and 6/14) and toll roads that I did not drive on. I did drive on one toll road on 6/13 and returned on 6/15 but had a personal transponder and have the SunPass account statement showing that. I drove to north Florida yet I was charged for tolls in south Florida. My rental receipt states that I drove a total of 147 miles and those in south Florida are more than 147 miles one way from [redacted] so there is no way they could be mine.

I have tried numerous times over the past several months to contact the company both via phone and via their website. They did not answer the phone for weeks, and every time I attempted to file a dispute via their website it would error out after entering all the information and attempting to submit. I finally reached someone via phone in early December and was told to send a copy of the supporting statement from SunPass (for the transponder) to '[redacted].[redacted]', and that I would hear something within 10 business days. I sent the information via email on 12/4/14 and after getting no acknowledgement I sent a message on 12/22/14 asking if they had received it. I have gotten NO response at all from them to date.

These are not my charges and I want the amount totaling $28.87 refunded to my credit card. Your assistance in getting a response from this company and getting this resolved will be greatly appreciated.Desired Settlement: I want a response from this company and a refund of $28.87 credited to my card.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Review: I have had to deal with Platepass on more than one occasion concerning the incorrect billing of toll charges. This latest incident concerned having my own EzyPass devise, for tolls which clearly billed my tolls correctly and then Platepass coming behind and automatically billing my credit card for the same charges and an administration fee which was more than the tolls themselves!!. Since I knew I would not need the PlatePass services in the rental car, it was places in the glove compartment under other documents, but it seems this was not enough. They make them so that they will pick up charges regardless of them being placed in the windshield which is where I had placed my EzyPass device.

I called EzyPass on Dec. 2, 2014 to advise them of the charges and was told I needed to fax my EzyPass statement to them with the charges. And it would take 7-10 business days for a decision!! I sent them the information on Dec. 2.

I called the company again on Dec 12, 2014 to find out the status of my claim and was told that because of the Thanksgiving holiday I had to wait another 5 business days for my claim to be processed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This company does not deserve an A+ [redacted] rating. This is not the first time they have billed my credit card for charges not due them. If they can bill your credit card so efficiently, then they should also be able to credit wrong charges back to the card.

This is not the first time I have had to do this with PlatePass. I have been billed for toll charges for a state that I was not even in at the time the said the tolls were incurred, but in order to have the charges credited back to my credit card, I had to send them receipts on the days to show that I was not in that state, but in fact in my home state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The burden of proof was put on me!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, Please, Please [redacted], do something concerning this company’s practices. If they have more complaints than satisfied customers, it would seem to me they would rate an F from you!Desired Settlement: I would like my credit card credited with the charges they have billed an an email from the company with an apology.

Got a letter from hertzrentalfine.com, saying I owed money on a speeding ticket (photo radar, so I'd had no prior notice of the ticket), and that I could go to rentalcarticket.com to pay the fine in advance of the due date of July 7th, 2013. Going to rentalcarticket.com, the main page contains buttons to log in that do not function; there's no way to get in and pay my fine in advance—which, if I understand correctly, would save me some of the service fee. Suspicious to me that the web site doesn't work; no error messages, nothing—just non-functioning buttons.
