I purchased a bed at Jermome's furniture and was offered a zero interest loan with time payments through GE capital, which apparently sold the loan to synchrony bank. I set up the account for auto pay and didn't pay attention to the account thereafter, assuming it would be paid off in a few years. That didn't happen. I was actually being charged 29% interest, and the payment just covered the interest.
[redacted] called to check on the use of my credit card... Good thing.... He also said I bought jewelry. Bad thing .Now my wife knows what Santa is bringing. You should learn to check on credit card use some other way. Everyone else does.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY!
Appled online for a 76 gas credit card. I have 2 addresses one where I recieve my mail and packages and one that is my residence of 35+ years. I always use my mailing address. Received a denial letter, stating they could not verify my idendity. And reffering me to TU for my credit report. The credit report showed both addresses.(My FICO Score is 803). Resubmitted using my residence address and received a denial letter stating "PRIOR APPLICATION SUBMITTED TOO RECENTLY". Called their customer service number 3x could not find any way to spreak with a credit manager but 2 rep had me submit another application by phone which was denied. Sent a letter to the credit manager and once again got back a form letter stating "PRIOR APPLICATION SUBMITTED TOO RECENTLY" Waht a bunch of impossible to communicate with people. Shame on 76 for using Synchrony Bank. I now only get my Fuel an Sunoco who issued me a card after one phone call to clarify my address.
AWFUL phone service!!!! One cannot hear any communication be it from a recording or a representative. I hade tried six times. I have emailed twice. This is the WORST phone communication I have ever encountered with any agency, company, bank, etc.
I have a store credit card and I called the bank to ask if they can postpone my payment for 5 days due to negative balance in my account. They simply told me no because they don't do that. I understand the reasoning behind it. However, if you want to have happy customers you need to work with them too. I will not do business with Synchrony Bank.
The business is nothing but a bunch of frauds. $18 turned into $88. The overcharge is being blamed on a balance I paid off a month before. I am being given the run around on resolving the issue, as well as attempting to close both accounts I have at this bank, and both do nothing but give me headaches. Currently in contact with a government agency to get this issue resolved, and plan to take legal action if no resolution is reached
I have had nothing but problems since they switched banks. I never received a monthly statement, new credit cards or any correspondence. They simply erased my (Chase) May 16th payment which I had a confirmation on, continued to charge me a late fee and interest. On the 27th I received a robo call telling me my acct. is delinquent. After making numerous phone calls I found out that they switched to Synchrony.. Now I probably show a late payment on my credit rep. and through no fault of mine. As of today I paid the balance and canceled my account and will NEVER go to a bp station again. I cannot believe how incompetent bp and Synchrony handled this change over.
worst bank!! Every single credit card that is run by synchrony bank has lowered my credit limit to $1 above my balance, thus my credit card utilization looks awful which now has jeopardized my ability to get additional credit and my score had dropped 19 points. I have always paid hundreds of dollars above the required payment in one case I had a 2000 dollar credit limit I only have 300 and some dollars on the card and synchrony bank put my limit at three hundred and eleven dollars exactly $1 above which put my utilization at almost a hundred percent they did this without warning they are ruining my desire to do business with any company that uses them for their credit cards I am disgusted with them this should be illegal yet it isn't there are companies out there that use synchrony bank I will never ever ever do business with that company end of story.
I have been able to get pertinent information when I request it for my account. My biggest problem with synchrony bank is that they will not set up a recurring bill to run off of my debit card. I only have Mobile web access I'm frustrated by this because a synchrony csr could set it up in seconds probably.hsbc, wells Fargo les Schwab tire all of those set it up via phone. . Guess what, no issues whatsoever. Synchrony if you would set up a recurring billing system via phone you would have a better collection rate. Plain and simple. They aren't rude but it is poor customer service that this isn't offered in 2015. Once my card is paid off I will close my account and doubt I'll ever consider doing business credit wise with either walmart or synchrony bank ever again.
This last month September 2014 I made a payment of $10 only instead of the $25 fee because I'm taking care of my elderly mother who has had a series of strokes. I am on SSI disability. I'm the only one helping her with her bills but also we needed to eat. Well since GE Capital Retail Bank changed over to Synchrony our phone has rung incessantly, even over the weekend. I answered one time, followed the instructions to speak to a customer agent and then was hung up on. Please stop calling our house! I will be making the $25 payment and late fees on October 1st when my check comes!
Synchrony bought the company that managed my guitar center credit card. Since then I've had numerous problems with the company. First they failed to send me a new card once the account switched over, when I initially made contact with them they assured me that my previous card and account information would carry over. While at guitar center I purchased a few small things and went to put them on my credit card and it was declined due to a change in account information. Guitar center called them and corrected the problem but I still was not told I would receive a new card. Fast forward 4 months and I applied for a consolidation loan I called synchrony to get the mailing address to send the check and they then finally told me that my account number had been changed but refused to give me anymore information besides I would finally receive my new card and account information 6 months after they had taken over the account. In the mean time the loan dispersed funds to synchrony, and now two weeks later it still shows my balance synchrony claims to have never even received my check and they appolagized but they couldn't put in writing that the check would be sent back so It could be canceled. Even though they claim to have never received it it is a possibility they may have and I was informed it would take 7-10 buisness days for the check to clear. Now my loan provider is warning me that if synchrony had received the check and cashed it at any point I will be responsible for the money even if the check gets canceled. After this is resolved I will close my synchrony account and will not do business with them anymore.
Opened a Lowe's Consumer Credit card to get a discount or extend the payment of appliances. The communication from Synchrony was poorly formatted. After incurring a late fee due to poor communication, they did remove it, but not the accrued interest. Customer service was TERRIBLE.
Their cheap system wouldn't recognize my debit card on their online payment website. No error message was given. When I phoned to contact they have an extremely dated automated voice system which you have to listen to the entire prompt before pushing a response or getting and agent.
Agent had little authority or ability to change anything and thought it was a nice perk to remove the normal fee to pay via phone! Oh, I'm giddy. Debit card still wouldn't work on their system.
Website is best viewed in Internet Explorer - shocker - it's not even supported by its creator anymore!
I've used [redacted] and had a much better time then with these bozos.
Synchrony Bank bought the GE Capital revolving credit Master Card that I had with Sam's Club. I've been a member of Sam's club since 1991. This is the highest APR at 22.9% that I have and I called to see about getting it lowered. I have excellent credit and have had my APR's lowered easily on other cards. I'm forced to retire due to medical reasons both for myself and wife and really was hoping to lower my payments. The first representative I talked with flatly said no and offered to transfer me to someone else. That someone else was located in the Philippines and couldn't help either. I asked them to have someone who worked stateside in the bank and a decision maker to call me, but that hasn't happened nor I doubt that it will!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and UNWILLING TO HELP!
My wife made a purchase at LensCrafters in Bradenton, Florida on 12/31/14. I received the first e bill on February 7, 2015. On February 9th, I received 3 voice mails at my home number, and a call at 8:50pm from a representative demanding payment. He stated we were behind in our first payment of $138.00. I explained we did not receive a bill, but the payment would be made the next day on line. He repeatedly asked for a payment, so my wife paid it off. I feel 4 calls in one day for a debt not in collections is very excessive,
Thank You,

I have a Sam's card account with GE Credit (now Synchrony). My experience should be a warning to other card holders. I paid my account in full each month with Sams/Synchrony by check. I began to notice that my checks were not clearing in normal time even though the funds were in my account and available. My conclusion was that GE/Synchrony was purposely holding my checks and not crediting my account until after the due date in order to assess a late fee. The first time this happened I felt like there was some delay somewhere that might have caused a problem. The fee was $35! When I was SURE my check was sent weeks ahead of the due date and the same thing happened, I vowed I would pay these crooks off and never use the Sam's credit again. This is what I have done although at the end of the year reconciliation it showed I had been charged $90 in fees by these monsters. I WILL NEVER USE THIS CARD AGAIN. I use Discover card and have never had a problem. My credit rating is above 800 so I am not a person who is ever late or abuses credit. Use your Discover card, or anything else accepted at Sams. DO NOT use Sams credit/SynchronyBank/GE. Fair warning.
My BP Visa Credit Card account was transferred from Chase to Synchrony. I tried to register the new card for online service. The message was that my birthday did not match their records. I am sorry. My birthday really is my birthday and I cannot change it. I also noticed from info received in the mail that the Synchrony interest rate is going to be 26.99%, a huge increase over Chase. Due to this and the negative reviews, I am not going to use the card. Looks like BP has made a serious mistake. In our area the higher price of BP gas offsets the rewards anyway.
This is the most disreputable and unprofessional organization which exists today. Their payment, receipt and follow-up systems are unreliable and they have very poor customer service when there is a problem. Their employees are extremely rude and frankly, lacking in intelligence about basic business practices. This group is barely one level above basic street thugs.
I would like to just say that this bank has no support for people that they do business with
speaking for myself they send out letter to people stating closing account due to
credit issue which I did miss several payment but I did pay my fees along with balance
due and it seem that really don't have right way of going about doing there job
They don't work for consumer they work for themselves and never give a chance to
explain themselves
SO I WILL NOT RECOMMENT THIS BANK TO ANYONE
As I read through these complaints, they match my own. I am recovering from a bankruptcy resulting from a divorce. I spent my 7 years waiting to rebuild my credit. I opened an account with GE Capital and things were looking up. I paid off my credit card and had a ZERO balance for months!!! Months! Then I got a letter in the mail that Synchrony closed my account due - of course - to my credit... well - dah!!!....I called for help and they told me I could reapply. Every credit application LOWERS my recovering credit score. This bank - quite frankly - sucks. In the complaints I read about the late fees even with timely payment. Yup. That happened to me too. But who was I to complain. I was in recovery. I did what I could and I did as I should.
Warn all your friends about opening any revolving credit with this company.
Oh, can we have GE back - please?
I am in the process of paying down debt to improve my credit score. In doing so, I have paid off some of my store cards with Synchrony Bank. As each card was paid in full, Synchrony accepted my payment and then lowered my credit limits to embarrassing limits, in turn further damaging my credit. I am so disappointed in the way this company does business.
