I applied for a credit card at American Eagle Outfitters. To get a stupid discount. I was approved and used it for 50$. I never received a card, bill nothing. I actually forgot about it. (My Bad.) I Recieved a call from a Collection Agency almost a year later. When I informed them that I was unaware if it and why didn't they call me. Needless to say I was sent to collections for $58.80. They had the wrong address and wrong name. You would think since I have 2 more cards issued by this bank they would have seen the error. I have paid them off and no one will handle getting my credit score fixed. It is there mistake and they have made my credit a mess. They claim it will take 6 weeks to process the payment and I will get a notice of it closed and paid off. Where do begin fix this mess. Synchrony Bank is telling me it's NMIs problem. NMIs is saying they don't handle any o type of credit or reporting and that Synchrony has to handle it. Meanwhile my credit is shot. I am closing all accounts that I have with this bank. I'm done with this BS. Now I have to spend 3 to 4 months cleaning their mess? I have already.contacted American Eagle in informed them. They said I am definitely not the first one to complain and they will look into it. How does a CRAP shot bank have this much power.
Customer service is horrible. Won't help you when you call, representatives barely speak English.
I was having dental issues and my dentist recommended I sign up to Care Credit (managed by Synchrony) to be able to pay for my treatment plan. This was in November, and it is now March and I have not been able to sign up for auto-payment because of how completely difficult they make it to do so. I have requested they send forms, I have tried to call, I have talked to customer care, and yet at each step I am either turned away or made to jump through some other hoop. This has caused at least one late payment (because I thought that I had at last been signed up for auto-pay, but that was not the case), and my credit score has dropped. Try calling their system and it takes 30 mins to get to a human, and then when I have finally reached a person, I have been treated rudely and as if I am an it who doesn't understand the internet. This company sets its customers up for late fees and missed payments. If I had known I would never have signed up for this account - wish I could close it today. A major pain and I regret going through this bank.
I paid off all my accounts and this company reduced my accounts and even closed on of my accounts. I keep my word I paid my account off and they made big profit in interest and fees. So how do the reward you keeping your word and paying your debt the close your account or reduce it to a useless amount. I have to say the Revdex.com seems to losing credibility with me also reading all the court actions against this company and and some funny math as far a 209 its seems that more that 90% of the people have complained and the give them a A- Just for answering complaints even if they didn't make it right or make real changes. This history of the company is so terrible its amazing to me that they are still in business. I will not do buisiness with any company that use them for their credit programs. JC Pennies, Amazon, Rooms to Go and the list goes on the only way to get read of this company is to stop shopping with companies that do business with this company
Absolutely terrible experience. We took out a loan through Synchrony Bank for some home repairs, excited that we had the opportunity to make payments at 0% interest for 25 months.
We made a our first few payments without problem and even made a few additional payments to get ahead of the curve. My wife and I have exceptional credit scores. We called to try to lower our monthly payments since we were over $2500 ahead and found that no one at Synchrony would hear us or say anything other than "your promotion requires you to make minimum payment of..." over and over and over.
In February my wife and I had a baby and, among the excitement and unfortunate extra trip to the NICU, missed our March payment. We quickly double paid in April and set up autopay so as not to have that happen again. Now it's May and Synchrony is autopulling DOUBLE PAYMENTS and refuses to change it. We've been with them since November, i.e. 7 months, and Synchrony is pulling the equivalent of our 8th payment as we paid the first 4, double paid in the 6th, and now they're pulling a double payment in the 7th.
It's absolutely absurd that they a) recognize we are over $3000 AHEAD on what is owed, b)correct this autopay issue, c)work with us to reduce monthly payments based on our credit scores snd history.
We endedup transfering the balance to a credit card to get rid of our connection to synchrony.
I AM A SAM'S CLUB MEMBER AND HAVE RECENTLY AUTHORIZED DEDUCTIONS FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT TO PAY SAM'S CLUB BILLS. WORKING THROUGH THE RECORDINGS ON SYNCRONY BANK'S AUTOMATED SYSTEM IS REALLY THE WORST I HAVE EVER, EVER ENCOUNTERED. SEEMED ALL THE RECORDING WANTED TO DO WAS CANCEL THE AUTHORIZATION. IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT NO ONE IN ANY AUTHORITY AT THIS BANK HAS EVER TRIED TO WADE THROUGH THEIR OWN RECORDINGS. I AM REALLY SURPRISED THAT SAM'S CLUB WOULD DEAL WITH A BANK THAT IS SO DIFFICULT TO CONDUCT BUSINESS.
New customer, on time monthly payments, made an additional payment in error. 1/25 I contacted bank of America who contacted synchrony on three way call and arranged to have the payment refunded, I was told it would take three weeks, I trusted the rep would do her job and I did not followup (silly on my behalf), I even received an email from synchrony in reference to my call on 2/4, called to check on the status of the refund on 2/16 and was told the request was never submitted and I would have to wait another 5-15 days and there is nothing else that can be done which puts me in a bind as that payment was intended for a utility bill that is now at the point of disconnect...I understand mistakes happen but no resolution is terrible customer service if the mistake was made on their behalf, I will not make any more purchases from vendors using synchrony, Customer service is important and I don't feel like they care
Synchrony bank provided a terrible website experience, simply impossible to use, as well as endless wait time for any customer assistance by phone. Canceled my new account and will never return.
In November, 2013, when doing some on-line shopping for Christmas gifts for my kids, I was solicited by Amazon.com to apply for an Amazon card. I do not regularly do this, but decided to go ahead and do so. They gladly approved it on the spot for more than enough to pay for everything I wished to purchase, plus some. I immediately began paying more than the minimum payment back, quickly reducing the balance. I purchased several more items over the next several months. I recently ordered $146 worth of athletic equipment for my daughter and received an email and phone call alerting me that my payment had been declined. When I inquired, it was determined that my credit line had been cut in half, a mere 4 months after I had initially be solicited. My income had not changed, I had made more than the minimum payment, usually twice monthly, and my balance was decreasing frequently. What's more, I had/have other accounts, also from formerly GEMB/Synchrony - such as Care Credit. When I requested an immediate increase in credit balance, it was denied. No one can tell you why. The managers boss does not take phone calls, but I can write a letter to the credit department of their HQ in Orlando - no name - just credit department. Way to be accountable. Most of my GEMB accounts are paid off. I have enjoyed using Amazon, and this problem is really with who they choose to do their financing through, however it is a reflection on them. And, I know that whether I choose to do business with Amazon or not will make no difference to them. It will also make not difference to GEMB/Synchrony. But, this is no way for either of them to keep old customers or make new ones. As these GEMB accounts are paid off, I will close them, and not open any others. They had no justification for reducing my credit limit. If anything, my credit worthiness is greater now. So, both Synchrony and Amazon have lost a customer.
Of course, they have higher interest rates than other bank, and my wife and I put there a quarter of our estate. But you get what you are paying for, and this year we will try to take all our IRS out of them. On January 6, 2017, I faxed a 2-page form with a request to distribute $6,300. We have a checking account, but I failed to write an instruction how to deliver the money on the first page, while this information was clearly repeated on the 2nd page, with the number of the account. The bank did not call me to clarify but instead mailed the check on Jan. 9th that has not yet arrived after 6 business days. My request to put a stop payment on that check and instead transfer the replacement funds into the checking account has been ignored, and there is no hotline to complain.
TERRIBLE! I paid on my account and they said they would have to hold the amount for 6 days with no explanation. They would not put that amount in our account for 6 days even though it had cleared my bank and Synchrony had our money. The so called supervisor we spoke with doesn't exist when you call them back, they said there is no extension 159 they only have 6 digit extensions! So no Karen either, What a terrible company!! We will NOT do anymore business with this bank ever again. They steal your money, lie to you, give fake names and extensions! HORRIBLE!
I submitted an appliation for a loan and was not approved because of "residenital status". What does that mean exactly? I own my home with my wife, how does that disqualify you from getting a loan? I have never heard of such of ridiculous and discriminatory reason. When going here to give negitive feedback, and seeing all the negativity and horriable reputation all I can say is thank god I was denied! Looks like this bank sucks. By the way I have pretty good credit score, so I don't see any reason for the denial. Keep shopping.
Synchrony Bank is the worse bank to do business with. They care absolutely NOTHING about the consumer. They prey on the consumer however they can and will lower your credit limit to an inch of your balance, creating a cascade of problems that eventually negatively impact your credit score. How can they be so callous? You can have the longest history with them, with glowing payment schedule...but one mishap, they go bananas and slash everything even closing your account without any prior notice. Calling them, is even more frustrating. The reps and even managers behave like robots with little to no empathy. Is there a way that these monsters can be regulated as not to hurt consumer credit ratings? Why would you lower a credit limit so low that it will negatively impact a consumer?
This company is horrible. They take advantage of people and have no compassion. We had to sign up for care credit because our dog suddenly got very sick and passed away. They increased the monthly amount due after I set up auto pay and began charging me late fees that were more than the monthly payment even though I was paying them every month! We did not understand the terms of the "promotional offer" which is a trap planted to deceive distressed individuals forced into their product because there were no other options. They only agreed to reverse 2 of the late charges even though there were 6! The account managers sound like robots repeating their "terms of service". This company has no soul so if you are a good person, do not go near them.....
terrible terrible terrible experience . thank the lord it was a short one. never again!!!!!!!
We have had an Amazon account for several months, and have NEVER been late with or missed a payment with them, or anyone else.
We've been trying to access our Synchrony/Amazon for nearly 3 weeks. They say our account is in default---which it is not, and NEVER has been--
The message tells us to contact Customer Service which we have---at least a half dozen times, where we get NO help or satisfaction.
This is becoming a real headache and inconvenience.
We don't know who to contact to get satisfaction. We hope to straighten this out before our account does become delinquent, and our credit is effected.
We have at least two other accounts with Synchrony Bank, and have NEVER had a problem. We'd really like to know who we can talk to stateside, not in India.
I am having the same issues as everyone else. Make a payment, credit limit drops. So instead of fighting the bank I am going after the major companies that use them as their "credit center". I have contacted Lowes directly to let them know that I will not shop there (cash, check or charge) as long as they are associated with Synchrony Bank.
So far, so good... My car dealership offered the Care One card to pay for vehicle repairs and maintence. I have had no problems paying bills and monitoring my promotional balances online. My Care One credit limit has been trippled after paying off the account multiple times. It is been a life saver when I needed oil changes, new brakes, new tires and yearly tune ups. When I logged in this month (Sept. 2014) I noted that GE is now Synchrony. I am apprehesive and I have noted the negative reviews. It does worry me that so many people have had issues. I will be watching my account diligently from now on.
I have a Walmart, Target and Goody's card with this company (all of them opened about the same time). I've recieved raises on Goody's twice and Target recently. I've requested raises on Walmart several times and denied every time. I pay on bwfore the due date every month or on time.
I've also tried for a JCPenney card and has been denied every time.
What am I doing wrong?
Never again! Synchrony Financial does NOT care about it's customers.
I have been paying off my credit card within the past year and because of medical emergencies it has been difficult. As soon as I paid off my card, my victory was smothered by a letter saying they closed my account.
Closed because I had not used my account in a year. Why? Because I'm trying to pay off my card!
I call them to try to express my concern and my voice goes unheard. Who am I to complain right? I'm just a working class citizen who just paid off a card with 23% interest. Hope I helped pay the salaries of those who decided to close my account, so they can provide for their families like I'm trying to do.
