Review: My checking account was charged a $36 overdraft fee on 9/21/15. However, the account was not overdrawn which can be demonstrated on my statement. Branch personnel explained a check posted just ahead of a deposit on the same day causing an overdraft for a few moments. Would not refund fee despite statement shows no daily negative balance and the deposit is listed chronologically as posted ahead of the check they claim caused the overdraft. A customer should not be charged an overdraft due to bank's choice to process debits ahead of credits on a day when the closing balance is positive.Desired Settlement: Refund of Overdraft Item fee dtd 9/21/2015 and removal of any notation in account.

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I received a voice message from "Kim C[redacted]" from PNC along with her phone number to discuss the complaint. I returned her call and left a voicemail message this morning at 11:03 a.m. We have not spoken and no resolution has been provided much less offered or discussed.

Review: A PNC branch rep informed me that my deposit made on a Saturday morning would clear by a Monday morning. That Monday came and the deposit was still pending. After calling PNC the phone representative told me that I should not see any fees as everything was still pending and it should all clear at once. That information was wrong. I was then assessed 4 OD fees, forcing my account into negative. When calling PNC bank, some supervisor belittled me by explaining their deposit funds availability twice without acknowledging that I was told misinformation. He then proceeded to say I should track down the branch rep and phone rep to verify the information but that fees will stay. In a span of a week PNC has misinformed me, belittled me on their policy, and provided poor customer service. No bank should be allowed to get away with misinformation, maliciously attach fees to a customers account that will force it into negative, belittle its customers, and still expect a solid following.Desired Settlement: Refund of some OD fees to my account, a revision of policy, re-training of branch reps and telephone reps, and training of supervisors.

Review: PNC Bank completed a non-authorized ACH transaction of $746 from my bank account on . They had been notified that I had begun a debt management program, and that further payment on my account would be made through a third party, and that they no longer were allowed to access my checking account. When contacted, they stated that they would refund the money because it was their mistake, but would not refund it for 10 days as it was against their policy to do so unless the account debited was an existing PNC bank account. I had them do a conference call with my bank and the bank told them they could accept an immediate reversal of the charge and would credit my account that day if they would allow it; however, PNC stated that it was considered a risk and that there was absolutely nothing they would do. I asked to speak with someone in their policy or upper management department, and they refused to transfer me further; stating that they did not accept customer calls in internal departments.Desired Settlement: I would like an immediate refund, without waiting for the 10 days. If any overdraft charges are incurred during the waiting period, I would like those paid as well. I feel if they can debit from someone's checking account within a day, especially fraudulently, that they should be required to provide immediate refunds back to that account as well.

Review: I am a client of PNC Mortgage. PNC Mortgage takes payment ($794.58) from my bank account on 14th of every month until June 2024, per original Amortizing Table. Round late May to early June 2013, I planned to make an extra payment towards Principle to shorten mortgage life by 5 years. I called (1-800-822-5626) and discussed with PNC Mortgage Center Reps several times (There should be phone records if PNC took recordings), also met with PNC Mortgage Loan Officer ([redacted]) at PNC local branch to have made sure I can do the following -- According to the original Amortizing Table, after May 2013 payment I had balance of $82,037.89 and exactly 5 years later, after May 2018 payment, I would have balance of $50,288.48. So I can pay the difference ($82,037.89 - $50,288.48 = $31,749.41) before June 2013 monthly payment, thus to shorten mortgage life exactly 5 years. That way, I can also expect what the Interest/Principle ratio will be when PNC Mortgage takes payment ($794.58) from my bank account on 14th of every month thereafter (for June, July, August, September 2013) - They will be the same as in the original Amortizing Table for June, July, August, September 2018(see Enclosure 1)On 06/07/2013, I went to PNC branch, asked the Teller to get all cash of $31,749.41 from my bank account to pay PNC Mortgage, also to put Note: Towards Principle (I have Transaction Stub as evidence). PNC Mortgage did acknowledge the receipt of $31,749.41 on 06/07/2013 (see Enclosure 2), but did not deduct Principle till 10 days later (on 06/17/2013)! Thats after the 14th monthly payment day so they can charge me lots more interest for June 2013, also more interest than expected for months thereafter.I talked to PNC Mortgage Loan Officer ([redacted]) at PNC local branch about that. She said they would correct that later on. But I waited for two months and it still did not happen. Then I called (1-800-822-5626) and discussed with a PNC Mortgage Center Rep. The Rep did not know the answer. But I appreciate she spent a lot of time to find a Supervisor to give me an answer: PNC has a Rule that cash towards Principle is always processed after next monthly payment. However, I am not happy with such a PNC rule If a check is deposited to bank account, it will be posted on the day of deposit even though the process takes a few days. Why all my cash of $31,749.41 fully received but posted 10 days later, with no interest benefit? Also if the rule was true, why all Reps, PNC Mortgage Loan Officer and myself were not informed (We discussed several times before and no one knew the rule).PNC Mortgage should make correction per the original Amortizing Table, [redacted]Desired Settlement: PNC Mortgage should make correction per the original Amortizing Table

Too bad I did not get this explanation/information when I contacted PNC Mortgage customer services and field Loan Officer. PNC can find out (even if no recording at least they have records of calls from my phone# [redacted]) how many times I called their customer services late May-early June 2013. Right before 6/7/13 I nearly called daily during that week. I asked Reps to look at original amortizing schedule through the line showing June 2018 payment / balance and detailed my plan. I also talked to Loan Officer in person 2-3 times to show the copy of original amortizing schedule and detailed what I planning to do.
I spent so much time to contact them before 6/7/13 payment of over $31K because I trust those PNC reps could point out anything wrong in my plan. They should know mortgage rules better than ordinary customers. If only they told me about the rule now explained! Then I could simply make a payment that time, smaller than $31K, to target JULY 2018 payment / balance instead of June 2018, therefore I would not pay the over $31K and let sitting and getting no interest at all...

Review: Ive closed a credit card account with PNC since other banks offered me a better reward program.
I called PNC to pay off my balance, find out my reward points and asked to redeem them before I closed the account.
I was advised I had $100+ in my reward account and to pay off the card and call back the following day to close the account. I did call back the next day to close the account. I got a statement from PNC and did not receive any info on my rewards that was due me.
I called customer service yesterday and spoke with Richard H[redacted] who informed me my reward points were forfeited since they were not redeemed!! I was very upset since he told me he would have made sure my awards were issued if I spoke to him!!
I requested to speak with a supervisor numerous times and he told me that no supervisor would take my call because they would tell me the same thing!!! I was mislead!
How could a customer in good standing be denied a conversation with a supervisor ?? I'm owed award money from PNC!!
If this is at all true and my rewards are forfeited, I'd hope it would be donated to a charity!!
This is unprofessional and deceiving to tell a customer their rewards were forfeited unless their bill wasn't paid!!!Desired Settlement: I'd like my awards money returned to me.

Review: I was charge with two overdraft fees.
I check my account every other day and yesterday (10/15/13) I saw that I was in the negative $112.00 so I deposited $120.00 into my account. When this happens that I see that I'm overdrawn I go to the bank/atm make deposit into my checking account and I'm NOT charged with o/d fee. I checked my account this morning only to find that I was charged with 2 overdraft fees and I don't understand why I have to pay those 2 o/d fees, I went to my bank tried to explain to the branch manager and she tells me that I'm not getting my money back. I am EXTREMELY UPSET ALL I WANT IS MY MONEY TO BE PUT BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT.Desired Settlement: All I want is my refund of the two overdrafts fees that I was charge with.

Review: My account was overdrawn last month, I did not realize this for 20 days. It was a 35$ charge that overdrew my account. I spoke to multiple people trying to close my account and get put on payment arrangements.. they would not let me do this with an outstanding balance on my account. I finally spoke with a women who advised me to let my account go into collections and then make payment arrangements, so I did not touch my account an awaited the collections call. Today I went into PNC to check the status on my account, to find that PNC had closed it, not only did they close it they took the money out of my other account in the total of 200 dollars. Leaving me basically broke for the next two weeks. I called their customer service line and waited on hold for over 10 minutes multiple times, speaking with at least 5 people, including the regional manager of the office who took this out. He did not care that the women told me that I could make payment arrangements, he told me that its their money and Im not getting it back. I advised that I did not mind paying this, that I just dont have the money till next Friday when I get paid. He basically told me that Im not getting it back, and to borrow the money to cover me till next Friday when I get paid. The only option he gave me was to talk with the branch manager, which I spoke with two, who said they couldnt do anything because my account was already closed. This is the most absurd situation I have ever been in. PNC reps told me that I could make payment arrangements, I told them to look up the phone conversation and they laughed and asked when I called and who I spoke with, I do not keep track of this and he knew that, he was being a rude, inconsiderate, [redacted], and he was the supervisor. I am now stuck with no money until next Friday, no one to borrow it from, and will most likely not be able to eat or drive next week for work. Words cannot describe how disappointed I am. They gave me no options at all, and NO warning.Desired Settlement: Though legally they had the right to take the money out of my accounty, if it were not for the women telling me I could get payment arrangements and then never getting that option they should not have taken it out. The only option given was not aplicable, the account was already closed.. They gave me no options and were completely rude. I would like a full refund. And if I loose my job due to this I want compensation. I would also like this escalated to the higest ranking PNC executive possible.

Review: On December 29th, 2014 I reached out to PNC to close out a trust fund. The trust fund was set up so that I had to be 30 years of age before I could access the full amount. Being 27 years old I had to have my siblings sign off giving me permission to claim the money. However, it took PNC over a month to get the forms mailed out to my siblings for them to sign and return. PNC informed me that there was a waiting period of 8-12 weeks to close the account. On 1/16/15 I was told that the 8-12 week time period will not start until my siblings release forms had been collected...but again, it took a month for my siblings to even receive the forms from PNC.It has now been 13 weeks since my initial request, I still have not received the money from the trust, and I have been given next to no information as to an expected time frame or the current progress of this unreasonably long process. I have requested contact information for anyone handling my trust and have been given none. All I have been told is that the 8-12 week waiting period didn't start until Feb. 2nd, and that they are currently on track. Going by PNC's time frame, I will not receive my money until late April...nearly 4 months later.I feel PNC is holding my money for ransom and collecting interest while hiding behind their 8-12 week waiting policy that they conveniently waited a month to start.Desired Settlement: I would like the full amount of my trust fund deposited to my bank account on file at PNC by the end of next week. I do no think 14 weeks is an unreasonable request for this to happen.

Review: On January 14, 2014 I made my monthly payment on my PNC Bank Flex card online. I was unaware that a payment was due because I did not receive a monthly statement in the mail. As the website shows, on January 17, 2014, I was charged a later fee. I called PNC about the issue and they said that they could not do anything about it. I don't know how you can charge someone a late fee when they made their monthly payment, nor do I know how you charge someone when you never even sent them a billing statement in the mail.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology and for my account to be credited back the late fee.

Review: On January 17th, 2014 I closed both my checking and savings accounts IN PERSON at the [redacted] branch of PNC Bank because 2 days later I was moving out west to a state where PNC Bank does not exist. Prior to closing my accounts, I contacted two companies with whom I had automatic debits from my PNC checking account and told them to stop their auto debits until I had a new bank account established. They agreed to stop the debits, but one more auto debit from each of those companies was nevertheless attempted, in spite of my request for the debits to stop. (This was probably due to insufficient time for their automatic system to process my request). Here's where the problem starts. When those two debits ($292.00 + $5.00) hit my CLOSED account, PNC Bank, without my authorization, re-opened my checking account and paid those two amounts!! Needless to say, this caused my account, without my authorization, to become active again and therefore, to PNC's advantage, I was assessed multiple fees as follows: a $36.00 overdraft fee per each overdraft, a fee of $7.00 per day up to a maximum of $98.00, and a charge-off fee of $30.00. Because I was moving across country right after closing my accounts, I didn't have an address for one whole week, and after moving into my new home my mail was being forwarded to me, which means I received all my mail much later than I normally would have had I not moved. PNC could have, and should have called me to make me aware of the situation that was occurring while I was in route, but instead they chose to make decisions with my CLOSED account without my permission. As a result, PNC Bank claims I owe them $461.00, AND, my name is on a black list which renders me unable to open a new bank account elsewhere, since my overdraft at PNC has been reported as a delinquency to Chex Systems. Furthermore, when I have spoken with the branch in an attempt to resolve this matter, they told me on one occasion that my accounts were never closed!! But in a letter dated 02/28/2014 they state the following: "We are writing to let you know that the transfer you scheduled to occur on 02/28/14 has been rejected due to the following reason: "TO" ACCOUNT IS CLOSED". So, they are clearly confused as to the actual status of my accounts and should be held responsible for their mistakes and unauthorized usage of my CLOSED accounts. PNC Bank has not only ruined my credit, but they have caused me a lot of embarrassment and inconvenience, as well as lost time trying to resolve this matter, which they refuse to do. These tactics by banks like PNC may be profitable for them, but they are unfair to the consumer and should be illegal!Desired Settlement: I want PNC Bank to refund the $461.00 by returning my checking account balance to $00.00, and, returning it to a CLOSED status! ALSO, they must TAKE MY NAME OFF THE CHEX SYSTEMS LIST!!!!! SO THAT I CAN OPEN A NEW CHECKING ACCOUNT IN THE STATE WHERE I NOW LIVE!!!!!

Review: Unemployment funds were seized My checking account has been closed from PNC Bank for no funds and it was overdrafted. I received a letter from the bank that the account was now closed in July and it was called a chargeoff. On August 7, 2012 I had a direct deposit from Unemployment deposited into this account that was now closed. I have called several times about my deposit and the bank said it was returned to the payee. On August 13, 2012 I found out the money was taken to pay the chargeoff. The law states that this money is exempt from this being that it is a consumer debt. If the account was still open it would not fall under the law but it was a chargeoff and the account was closed.Desired Settlement: Refund of $406.00

Review: I havwe a home equity loan with P N C Bank my payment is due on the 15th of every month. I made a payment of $203.00 on 06/03/14 for June and then a payment of $153.00 on 06/20/14 for July. They applied that payment towards the prinpable and told me I missed my July Payment. I've been trying to strighten this out with them for over two weeks. I left a message for my account manager [redacted] it took him over a week to get back to me when he said he would put in a request to apply te June 20th payment to July 7 also To remove the $40.00 late fee and strighten out my August payment which they said I owed a double payment. I kept checking the account online and they weren't adjusting my account so I called pnc back and they told me my account manager was now [redacted] I spoke to him told him what [redacted] said he was going to do and hesaid he would resmit the request. on 08/15/14 I paid $153.00 for my august payment again I kept checking the account online it kept saying I owed 453.00 BY 08/15/14. So on 08/20/14 I went back on line to check the account and they removed the $40.00 late fee but it still said I owed $53.00 on 08/15/14/so I called [redacted] back and he tells me now they can't apply the 06/20th payment to July and I have to make the pay now $53.21 to bring my account current and I have to apply for a refund for the June20th payment.
