Merrick Bank Corporation Reviews (681)

A review of the account was conducted. Ms*** opened an account with Merrick in
December 2012. She has used the account
for the purchase of goods and services.
On or about January 8, Ms*** notified Merrick that she had
not received the card she requested
in her married name. Merrick did not show any returned mail and
Ms*** indicated that the address on file was the correct addressMs
*** account has an annual fee that is billed monthly at $per month
The account became
days past due as of February 10, The balance owing was $which was
monthly annual fees and $of interest on those fees The credit reporting that was sent to the
credit reporting agencies was correct and accurate reflection of the account
status at the time. The reporting done
on the account was correct and accurate and in full compliance with the
FCRA.
However
in the interest of resolving Ms***’ concerns, Merrick has sent a request
to delete the days past due report from her credit fileThe request can
take up to days for the reporting agencies to completeMerrick has done
this strictly as a courtesy to Ms*** who was an excellent account holder
with Merrick

The credit bureau reporting is correct and accurate according to the account information and the status of the account is correct as a charge offThere will be no change in the reporting status nor will Merrick remove the trade line from the file. To do so would be a violation of the FCRA and bank policy

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I can't provide a letter indicating what they want because THEIR system did not process payment correctly due to the amount of numbers in my account! I've sent them bank statements clearly showing the payment NEVER HIT my accountI have replaced the payment with a debit card on the same account and paid additionally to do so! This company is a fraud and the way they treat customers is awful
Sincerely,
*** ***

As stated in the previous response Merrick has payment options available. MsS*** can call us and we will be able to assist her with an option that will work for her. Again the number to call for that payment plan assistance is ***

Merrick has no further response to Mr***'s issueI will close the account today and the deposit will be used to off set the balance owed

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I was lied to on the phone, as a customer I'm entitled to the truth when it comes to my account or any info/changes done to my account.I am truly disappointed in this system on how they handle my account.I was told by the rep that the customer refunded my money, but in respond to this issue Merrick/bank stated they refunded my money twice. But if u listen to the recordings, the rep stated, "I was refunded by the customer"So that's why they removed there credit. Now they are getting there info confused.I believe the the business didn't handle this correctly nor professionaly
Sincerely,
*** ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I have though, attached my welcome email where there was no mention on a annual fee, my first bill showing I was never charged an annual fee, and their account disclosures. Since I wasn't charged any annual fee when I opened the account and I have always paid my account responsibly and in full, I find it hard to believe they would be ok losing me as a customer over the annual fee that I had never been charged before and then didn't care that I was going to close my account over it. However, I do accept their response as long as they do in fact credit my account for that $3.00, which as of this moment, they haven't done so.
Sincerely,
*** ***

A review of Ms*** account was conducted. Ms*** opened an account with Merrick in December 2013. The account was closed in November 2014. Ms*** used the account for the purchase of goods and services. Over the history of the account Ms*** has had a number of
months were no payments received or payments were made past the due dateBoth of these caused late fees to be assessed to the account
Ms*** balance was $*** at the end of and as of the last statement the balance was$***. Ms*** has been reducing the balance of the account and it will continue to go down as she makes payments. It will be reduced more quickly if she pays on time and pays more than the minimum payment due each month
If Ms*** had a disability claim that she wished to make she could have done so until March and the 3rd party who provided the product would still honor those claims. I did not see any indication in the account that she had signed up for any product through Merrick
Merrick has correctly reported the account to the credit reporting agencies and will not change or modify that reportingTo do so would be a violation of the FCRA and Bank policy
Merrick’s cardholder agreement, Section 13, states that “the account can be revoked, suspended or cancelled at any time with or without reason”
I have attached copies of statements reviewed for this respond for Ms***’ information

Ms*** opened an account with Merrick in May and used the account for the purchase of goods and services. Ms***’s account statements were sent to the address of record indicating that payments were dueThere is no information on the account that Merrick received any
returned mail or notification from Ms*** that might indicate the statements were sent to a wrong or stale address. As a courtesy Merrick has waived late fees assessed to the account, along with the interest charged in DecemberMs*** should see that adjustment on the next statement

A review of Mr***’s issue was made. Mr*** applied for a secured card account with Merrick on August 8, 2015. The application was declined and the refund of his security deposit was sent to the address on the application on November 25, A copy of that letter and check are
attached. The check is still outstanding and has not been cashedMerrick has placed a stop payment on that check and has reissued another checkThis will be mailed to Mr*** on Thursday, January to the address on the application. If he does not receive the new refund by February 5, he can call us at ###-###-#### discuss this further

Ms*** was given the proper disclosures as required by the CARD Act and consumer law. If she does not wish to receive pre-screened offers she can opt out using the toll free number as provided to her on the offer she received

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
*** ***I checked my bank statement regarding the date for July 17th of I didn't see where my account hadbinsifficient finds before that payment was madeIt shouldn't have been listed as a returned paymentI have been having issues with accessing website in order to pay bill on several occasions

Mr*** opened an account with Merrick in August and has used the account for the purchase of goods and services. The due date on the account is the 9th of each monthIn September 2016, Merrick waived the $late fee incurred by Mr*** in August However, Merrick did not
receive Mr***’s payment until September 11, causing Mr*** to incur another late fee in SeptemberHis October payment was also received two days late causing another late fee. Mr*** requested a due date change on his account on October 14, which took effect on the next statement period. Mr***’s new due date is the 27th of each month. It is Merrick’s policy to post payments as of the day they are received. Payments are posted each day until 5pm CT. Section of the cardholder agreement sets forth that processThe August late fee assessed to the account for the late payment has been waived as a courtesy. Merrick’s policy is to waive one late fee in a month period and Mr*** received that waiver Mr*** indicates in the complaint that the payments are set up as recurring payments. However, the account history shows that a recurring payment schedule was set up on May 15, and then subsequently cancelled by Mr*** on May 26, The payments received on the account have been made on line as one time payments and posted on the date they were receivedIn an attempt to resolve this matter, we have waived an additional late fee in the amount of $as a courtesy

Ms*** opened an account with Merrick in February and has used the account for the purchase of goods and servicesUpon opening the account, Ms*** was charged a one-time account setup fee in the amount of $She was also charged the annual fee for the first year of the account
for the amount of $These fees and other terms associated with the account are specified in the cardholder agreement which Merrick provided to Ms*** when she opened the account, and were disclosed in the original marketing materials and again when Merrick sent Ms*** the cardA review of the account was conducted and revealed the followingThe first payment due on the account was $and was due on March 20, This payment was received on timePayments for the months of April through June were received past the due dateWe have not received a payment on the account since June 23, Merrick offers to double a cardholder’s initial credit line upon the cardholder’s timely payment of the first seven monthly paymentsDue to the delinquent payments identified above, Ms*** did not qualify for the “Double Your Credit Line” offerWe have enrolled Ms*** in Merrick’s disaster recovery program, which will provide her with months of payment relief

Ms*** opened an account with Merrick in March and used the account for the purchase of goods and servicesThe due date on the account is the 20th of each monthThere were no payments made in the months of May, June, July, August and September of On October 6, the account was
closed for non-payment, because the account was over days past dueMs*** did make two payments on the account in October but the payments were not enough to cover the minimum amount due and were not received before the account charged off

On February 25, Ms*** contacted Merrick and reported her card lost or stolen. Ms*** stated there were three unauthorized charges for a total of $that she did not make. An acknowledgment letter was sent on March 13, and Merrick issued provisional credits to
the account for $One of the merchants had already issued a refund to Ms***’s account in the amount of $139.90. The credit received from the merchant was inadvertently placed on the account number that was statused lost or stolen. Merrick has adjusted that credit and placed it on Ms***’s current account in the amount of $139.90. She should see the credit adjustment on her next statement Merrick Bank apologizes for the concern this issue may have caused Ms***
