Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: GAF does not stand behind their warranty on 25 year shingles. It was determined that the shingles still had 73% warranty left and we were only offered 1/3 of the cost to replace shingles on the original roof. We built a porch on our home and PURCHASED the needed shingles from the home store where we redeemed our voucher from GAF for the replacement shingles. So, we have a bigger area to replace now and GAF doesn't feel its good customer service to offer the full 73% of the warranty. GAF has google-mapped our home and is trying to tell us that we're trying to get shingles for our garage and storage building. Those buildings have [redacted] shingles on them. Why would we put substandard shingles on two more structures? Who has the time and money to replace a roof every 7 years? In our opinion, GAF's warranty is as worthless as their products AND customer service.

on our conversation with the claimant, this matter has been addressed and resolved. We thank the claimant for calling to matter to our attention and we're glad we were able to provide the information needed to apply for this rebate.
Please be advised that our limited warranty describes our transfer rules. We regret that [redacted] has rejected our response but we have an obligation to our customers to honor the terms and conditions of our limited warranties. If we compromise our warranty and make an exception for [redacted], we jeopardize our ability to be fair and reasonable. GAF is the nation’s largest manufacturer of roofing materials; we earned that reputation by producing quality products and standing behind our warranties. We do not agree with the Revdex.com that this complaint is unresolved. We have explained the reason we were unable to honor [redacted]’s request, which was based on the terms and conditions of the limited warranty.

Your warranty department has not acknowledged receipt of my initial emails. I have received your warranty kit paperwork and I am completing it. I will complete the package and send everything registered mail to your address and it will require a signature. However, I expect an acknowledgement of the several emails sent to your warranty email. Please confirm.

The company is in violation of the terms of the settlement agreement and asks for unreasonable acts froms the consumer. This is being written in response to Revdex.com Complaint ID [redacted] Claimant filed a claim with GAF in October, 2014. GAF requested additional information in order to fully investigate the claim, specifically, photographs and samples of the affected shingles. This requirement...
is expressly set forth in the Limited Warranty on GAF Materials Corporation Fiberglass Asphalt Shingles in effect in 1995 when the subject shingles were installed. This practice is standard in the roofing industry, and the reason for the requirement is two-fold. GAF must identify the product at issue and confirm that it is, in fact, a GAF product. Additionally, GAF must examine the shingles to determine whether the shingles suffer from a manufacturing defect. Without the shingles, GAF cannot conduct a thorough investigation, nor determine whether the product in question has failed to perform as intended due to a manufacturing defect. Claimant suggests that her roofer's statements concerning the condition of the shingles should be sufficient. Please understand that many factors can reduce the useful life of roofing shingles. The quality of the installation, construction details of the house (such as proper ventilation and decking materials), weather conditions, etc. can all adversely affect the performance of roofing shingles. Claimant has not provided any evidence to support a claim for defective manufacture. As a result, no relief can be provided.

understanding of the situation. The homeowner was working with the Estimator from the roofing company he hired to perform the work on his roof. GAF is not responsible for the delays that have taken place. Claimant's roof was installed in December, 2008. GAF was first contacted in April, 2017. The following day, the claimant was mailed a kit with claim filing instructions and requirements. Claimant acknowledges receipt of same. The delays referenced in this complaint are not a reflection of GAF's Customer Service as no GAF employee made any assurances that GAF would perform an onsite inspection. We have spoken with the claimant and explained why the requested submittals are necessary. Additionally, we discussed why this approach is the most effective and accurate way to evaluate a shingle claim. We hope the claimant will see fit to provide GAF with the required submittals and allow us to properly evaluate his claim.
Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
The amount offered by GAF doesn't cover the cost of materials to replace their defective shingles. The amount I have ask to be reimbursed doesn't even cover the total amount of repairs that was done to my home. I have attached pictures of the damage to my home because of their defective shingles. I have also attached pictures of the defective shingles. I do not believe GAF would have offered me a settlement if thee shingles were not defective and they clearly admitted they did. My home was barely 8 years old when the roof began to leak. It would seem to me a product that had a 25 year warranty would last longer than 8 years and when it failed to last it the company would stand by the warranty and replace their defective products which they did not.
Yes, I filed a claim that was later closed because as a single mother of three children I could not afford to have the shingles taken off, then new ones to replace the ones that had to be taken off, nor could I afford to have a contractor give me an estimate on what it would cost to have the shingles replaced, which is what GAF required of me before they would process the claim. Once I could afford what GAF required of me I submitted the claim. To have them refuse to reimburse me for the materials.

The photographs that were presented to GAF illustrate extreme weather conditions. roof that was allowing water to leak into the house. Additionally, our inspector observed a damaged gable vent and solar panels bolted through the shingles. Any issues resulting from damage caused by "impact of foreign objects" are expressly excluded from warranty coverage. Our inspector noted and photographed a hole through the roofing shingles as well as other penetrations that could adversely affect the performance of the roofing shingles. As a result, the claim was denied. On 1/25/2016, the homeowner contacted GAF to re-open this claim. In response, GAF is sending an inspector to the home to perform another inspection to determine the cause of this newly reported leak.

I am rejecting this response because:
As GAF advertises [redacted] on their website as a "GAF Master Elite Contractor" they are wholly responsible for the content of their site as well as the contractors that they certify as able to install their roofing materials as well as provide these "enhanced" warranties. I contacted [redacted] via email through the GAF website and was thereby called by [redacted] through that contact email.
[redacted] also uses the "GAF Master Elite Contractor" logo on their contracts. Additionally, GAF makes claims on advertisements such as [redacted] (May 2014) that "Choosing a GAF Master Elite roofing contractor is your assurance that you'll be dealing with a quality, reputable, and dependable professional contractor - not some "fly-by-nighter"". This statement is false as [redacted] tried to gain additional monies from me in violation of my contract between them and did not correctly complete the roofing job. The contractors I have had out in the past month to look at my roof have all pointed out the issues with installation of the roofing shingles and flashing and are all aware of [redacted] and it's president/owner, Brian Sliva, and the shoddy work he does. They have had calls by multiple customers to repair issues caused by Roof Restorations. Maybe that is why there are 10 complaints against [redacted] on the Western PA Revdex.com site, countless reviews I have found online of [redacted] doing poor work and in some cases taking deposits for work they never ended up doing, as well as several magisterial court fillings against [redacted] in the state of [redacted] all of which I can provide to the GAF corporation. I have filed a complaint with the [redacted] Revdex.com against [redacted] and did not receive a response from [redacted] to my complaint.
Keep in mind, I am not simply asking for an "enhanced" warranty. I am demanding that my roof be properly repaired and installed per code. I could care less about the different levels of warranties offered by GAF as I now know the corporation is unwilling to back it's warranty claims or solve conflicts cause by the contractors they back and advertise. The only proper resolution to this issue is to have GAF properly repair my roof and stop the leaking.
As a consumer, I am more than willing to pass the word on that hiring a GAF Master Elite Contractor is essentially worthless and there is no enhancement to this product over having any other roofer with great ratings from customers, installing another manufacturer's roofing products. Without resolution on repairing my roof, I will be filing additional complaints with the [redacted] Attorney General's office Bureau of Consumer Protection as well as a federal complaint in violation of the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act.
Again, I am asking for my roof to be properly installed and repaired as resolution to my complaint. Please arrange through the Revdex.com to have this matter resolved.

After all this delay, I just received a letter from GAF indicating that the leakage is not due to the shingles or the roofing system and are not covered under the "Golden Pledge" warranty which I purchase.
I am very confident that the GAF's argument is completely wrong and misleading.
My old roof did not leak for over 18 years prior to replacing it with GAF.
It has been leaking ever since the replacement of entire roof with GAF.
Although GAF would like to blame the leak to poor design of my roof, the roof was just fine prior to their work.
