Per their terms and conditions, I have 5 days to dispute the charge. I did that. They told me on the phone that they could not look up the charge and that I needed to dispute with my credit card company...which I did. They did that knowing that this would push the dispute past the 5 days. I never received any notification from Godaddy. My email address is [redacted]...not the one they are using. This is a company that practices deception by hiding renewals in fine print. I called immediately when I saw the charge, they said they had no record of it on the phone and that I needed to dispute the charge.I want my money refunded. It was an unauthorized charge...plain and simple. This company clearly doesn't want to do the right thing. They need to take a customer service advice from others. As far as I'm concerned, they are the most dishonest company that I have ever dealt with. I'm assuming this happens frequently with them.
Dear Dispute Resolution Consultant,Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the additional concerns presented by our customer. We stand by our previous response. GoDaddy had sent renewal notices prior to the product expiration date. GoDaddy simply has no control over what happens to the email notice after it leaves our system or how the customer's ISP or email client chooses to handle the email once they receive it. GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with the complainant and honored its terms of service. Given the restrictions set by the .CA Registry and our Refund Policy, the domain name in question is not eligible for refund.Thank you again for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards, [redacted] Office of the CEO [redacted] GoDaddy.com [redacted] Scottsdale, AZ 85260

GoDaddy Universal Terms of Service Agreement• GoDaddy Hosting Service AgreementThe latest version of these agreements can be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspxOn March 19, 2012 our customer purchased an Economy Shared Hosting Plan for a one year term via their online GoDaddy Account. The Hosting Plan was subsequently auto-renewed for one year per our customers account preferences on March 19, 2013. Our customer called GoDaddy customer care on March 19, 2014 and during the call renewed the hosting and a domain name for an additional year.Per our customer’s account preferences, GoDaddy attempted to renew the hosting plan but were unable to do so as the bank associated with the payment method declined the request.GoDaddy sent notifications of our attempt and billing failures on:• March 19, 2015• March 29, 2015• April 8, 2015Account management is a customer responsibility. On April 8, 2015 the hosting plan was cancelled due to non-payment. On April 30, 2015 our customer contacted GoDaddy’s customer care team to request an attempt to restore the hosting content. Our customer spoke with a supervisor who offered a goodwill gesture to waive our $150.00 restore fee. GoDaddy does not provide hosting content recovery as a service but instead we will attempt to recover content as a disaster recovery process and cannot guarantee the content can be restored. Our Hosting Agreement, includes customers should be creating and saving independent backups of their website content.During the call, our customer also purchased a new hosting plan for the files to be placed if they were able to be recovered. GoDaddy’s hosting team worked diligently and vigorously to attempt a full content recover but were only able to recover our customer’s database which wasplaced in their active hosting plan. Our customer was notified of this on May 1, 2015 via email notification. On May 1, 2015 our customer contacted GoDaddy customer care and spoke with a supervisor again who explained no content could be recovered. The supervisor offered a full refund of the newly purchased hosting plan if the customer chose to cancel the plan. However, our customer declined this offer. Account management is a customer responsibility which includes maintaining backups of their websites. GoDaddy provided 10 days of live site service without payment and 10 additional days of suspended site service prior to cancellation of the hosting plan.RESOLUTION: GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service. We would like to stand by our previous offer of a full refund should our customer wish to cancel their hosting plan. Dear Dispute Resolution ConsultantThank you for the opportunity to shed further light on our customer’s concerns. It appears there is a second issue separate from the customer’s original complaint. After careful consideration and listening to the overall voice of our customer base, GoDaddy added live chat support and discontinued email support. The business' response was fairly generic and irrelevant. As an Australian charity, when we set up the domain name in 2014, the currency chosen, used and billed was Australian Dollars, and signed as "$".When we came to renew in 2016, we were fully entitled to expect that the "$" sign meant Australian Dollars. Instead, without our knowledge or consent, the billing currency was changed to US Dollars. We were misled and deceived by Go Daddy, because it failed to disclose to us in writing when offering the renewal or on the telephone, when we called a Sydney, Australia telephone number to renew, that "$" or "Dollars" meant something other than Australian Dollars. The fact that we have moved the registrar of the domain names to someone else is also irrelevant to the dispute and our claim, and simply reflected our deep distrust of an organisation which could so easily deceive its customers and then refuse to fix the problem

This is not acceptable. Where does it say that it will auto-renew after 1 year without my authorization??????. I never authorized this on any of the domains. I have owned 50+ domains from you guys over the years. SEE ATTACHED SCREEN SHOT OF RECEIPT. It says 1 Year Term! I don't get how this is such a big deal.. you can see on your end that all of these domains that I had for 1 year, I have never touched or used once and never expected you guys to charge me additionally after I specifically put 1 YEAR when I purchased the domain in the first part. If you have disclaimers or something in the footer somewhere that is hidden and is meant to deceit someone then that is extremely unethical and I wonder how many other customers have been getting constantly charged for domains they never knew they had anymore... small charges like these are hard to recognize in a bank statement and go unnoticed and I believe that is 100% intentional on your part. I want my refund. I still have domains through you guys and will move all of my services to another company if not resolved. The funds that I will be paying you guys over the next few years for my current services and future domains will supersede anything close to the fair and ethical refund I am asking for today.

I don't care what agreements I checked and agreed to. We all know that no one reads this crap. Also, there is no point in flaunting your daily backups feature if we can't access them when late on a payment and account is suspended. Overall, you put these conditions in fine print that no one reads. Knowing that fact, you're blatantly misleading your customers by omitting this in clear terms. I refuse to pay anymore than the hosting fees, I'll be continuing my promises regarding how I'll further deal with this issue.

Thank you for the opportunity to address the additional concerns presented by our customer. GoDaddy stands by its original response. The domain name automatically renewed on April 28, 2016 as the Protected Registration was still on the domain. The customer’s initial purchase of Protected Registration service was done so via online transaction, without the assistance of GoDaddy’s customer care teams. The service functioned as intended and advertised, keeping the domain from being canceled without proof of identification. Our customer provided the information requested in order to cancel the Protected registration service. Account management is solely a customer responsibility and our customer agreed to this upon conducting business through GoDaddy. While we make a best effort to partner in our customers’ successes, our customers must also be responsible for their actions or lack thereof. When a customer transfers a domain name to another registrar, any time left on the domain until expiration carries over. As such, we have only refunded $32.97 back to the customer’s original payment method for the cancelled Protected Registration service.Thank you again for the opportunity to address the additional concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Ken C[redacted]Office of the CEO - GoDaddy

Thank you for the opportunity to address and bring clarity to the concerns presented by our customer. We have reviewed this matter and would like to present the following. Our customer acknowledged and agreed to the following agreements upon conducting business with GoDaddy:• ...
Once the hosting is cancelled they may follow up with our office directly at [redacted]@GoDaddy.com or ###-###-####. Alternatively, they can also reach out to our 24/7 customer care who can also assist with the refund at ###-###-####.EDUCATION:The following GoDaddy Support article will be helpful in the future to our customer regarding managing product renewals. This was for the period ending July 2, 2015. On July 3, 2015, per our customer's account preferences, GoDaddy was instructed to automatically renew the domain name and did so in a good faith effort to honor its agreements with the customer.GoDaddy sent renewal notices prior to the expiration date on: June 2, 2015 8:05 a.m. MST (30-day notice) June 27, 2015 5:19 a.m. MST (5-day notice) July 3, 2015, 3:26 a.m. MST (Renewal receipt)These notices informed the customer their expiring domain name would be renewed in accordance with their account settings unless additional action was taken. Account management is a customer responsibility. Our customer contacted our support staff on July 28, 2015 (25 days after the expiration date), requesting the cancellation and refund for the renewal. Per our Refund Policy, certain domain names that automatically renew for a multi-year term are only eligible for a refund if they are canceled within 5 days of their expiration date and our customer’s request for a refund was declined. RESOLUTION:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service. During the customer's call with GoDaddy's support on July 28, 2015, our customer was provided a $4.99 refund of their Business Registration add-on as a one-time exception to our refund policy. As GoDaddy is unable to receive a refund for the unused time on our customer’s domain name registration we are unable to refund our customer. Our research has shown increased customer satisfaction rates as email is not conducive to quick problem resolution. We also offer 24/7 phone support.Since our previous response, our customer contacted our office directly to discuss receiving a refund for a hosting issue they were experiencing. At that time, we informed our customer that in accordance with our refund policies, a refund of in-store credit of the remaining time could be provided should the customer choose to cancel their hosting account. As stated in our original response, GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service. Per our customer's account preferences, Go Daddy was instructed to automatically renew the customer's domain however; the credit card associated with the renewal was invalid. Agreement• Domain Name Registration Agreement• Domain Name Proxy AgreementCopies of the latest version of these agreements may be found at: https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspxOn April 14, 2012 the complainant purchased the domain names in question via an online transaction for a two-year term.On April 7, 2014 the complainant renewed each of the domain names for an additional one-year term and also added Protected Registration services to the registrations. Our Protected Registration service; which the complainant had added to their domain registrations, is the highest level of protection for a domain name that GoDaddy offers. This service provides private registration and also protects against the cancellation, expiration, or transfer of a domain name. Domain names which have this service cannot be cancelled or transferred until the Protected Registration is canceled. This is done by way of submitting a valid government issued ID, Business ID if applicable, and a signed form to our Domain Services Department.RESOLUTION:GoDaddy has upheld its agreements in good faith with our customer and honored its terms of service. The Protected Registration service functioned as advertised; keeping the domain names from being canceled or transferred without proof of identification. On April 24, 2015 the complainant completed the process for removing the Protected Registration service from their domain names.

Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer’s additional concerns. We stand by our previous response. As stated in our Auctions Membership Agreement, which our customer acknowledged and agreed to, GoDaddy is not the owner of the domain names listed for auction, and as such, domain names listed may be removed at any time by the seller or by GoDaddy. In this case, GoDaddy was unable to provide the domain in question, as it was discovered that the seller of that domain name was no longer in possession of it. As such our customer’s order was refunded in full. We also appreciate the complainant’s candid feedback about our service levels and offerings and will ensure their concerns are fully reviewed by our customer care managers in an effort to identify improvement opportunities. GoDaddy strives to offer the best service levels in the industry.Thank you again for the opportunity to address the additional concerns presented by our customer.Kindest regards,Ken C[redacted]Office of the CEO – GoDaddy

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I refuse to pay anymore than the hosting fees, I'll be continuing my promises regarding how I'll further deal with this issue.

https://www.godaddy.com/legal-agreements.aspx On October 19, 2015 our customer purchased a Managed Virtual Private Server for one year via a support representative. On February 3, 2016 our customer purchased a desired upgrade for the server via a support representative. RESOLUTION:GoDaddy upheld its agreements with our customer in good faith and honored its terms of service. The issues encountered by our customer were associated with a free, third party add-on; the server itself functioned as intended. Our support teams followed proper processes for escalating our customers concerns to the third party for resolution. Despite the purchase of Managed Services with this server, our customer is still the server administrator and responsible for all operations of the server such as security setup, domain setup, and custom software installations. Given the duration of time since the original purchase date, we will not be able to provide a refund per our refund policy. Thank you for the opportunity to address our customer’s additional concerns. As previously stated, our customer approved the pricing and did not question the currency being charged. The order total was correct and cannot be altered. Our customer received an order confirmation email which indicated the total amount charged in USD.
