Appliance Repairman - ridiculously expensive and unprofessional

Expensive:

*** Charged $120 for a water valve broken by tech on site
*** Overall charge was $452.00 tax included. A brand new equivalent GE Dishwasher is $478.00 + tax (84 % its value)
*** When calling Appliance Repairman Contact Center prior to tech visit ($80 waived if accepted their labor quote) were unable to share estimate ranges for a simple leakage. However, when tech comes to my place it quickly flags a $280 + tax fee regardless if half an hour or 3 hour. Standard charge. Should I've know their ranges from my first call, I would not have requested their service.

Unprofessional:

*** No warranty on labor performed. If it fails with same issue, you pay again.
*** Technician did not carry a lantern. Had to assist with mine.
*** Technician did not carry Teflon sealing tape. Had to provide mine.
Technician did not carry a self-lock force plier. Had to provide mine.

Please do not hire these guys under any circumstance.

Desired Outcome

Expecting refund of $200 plus tax for valve they broke, tool and material supply on my side and lack of transparency while refusing ball park estimate over the phone yet charging a general fee once at my location.

When the repair service started the work they quoted me a service fee of $280 as they would check three separate parts of my dryer. The problem was diagnosed in less than 20 minutes and the total repair was approximately 45 minutes. At no point was all the service required or performed as the problem was diagnosed right away. The total fee for labour worked out to more than $300 per hour.

They replaced one part and the technician (identified as "***") only told me it was "pricy". After it was replaced and the technician had left, I *** the part online and found if ranging from $10-$20. Far less than the $125 I was charged.

I contacted the company for partial refund (I requested a $200 refund off my 450 bill), but the company is ignoring me

Desired Outcome

A refund of $200 to cover the lie I was told about how expensive the part was, and to refund the labour fees which were excessive consider the 45 minutes spent.

Called company for washing machine repair. Service tech came and spent 45 minutes on machine (10 minutes was on phone with head office talking about another job). I was advised that there was an issue with the "main board" but he was able to fix it. While he did advise if the board malfunctioned in the future it would be $800 to replace - however it should "work fine" for the foreseeable future. I was charged $316 for the call and the service tech left. I put a wash load in as soon as the tech left (less than 5 minutes later) and the washing machine was completely dead. I called customer service and was informed the tech was "too far away now" to come back and look. When my complaint was finally addressed by a "manager" I was told "there is nothing we can do" and that I can pay the $800 to have a new part installed.
Product_Or_Service: Washing Machine Repair

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I am happy to pay the $80 service call but not for the repair that repaired nothing. As far as I'm concerned this service amounted to fraud.

My dishwasher stopped draining.Accepted visit charge of $80.Tech came. Said $ 300 upfront to assess.Said drain tube blocked.Spent 10 minutes(UNOBSERVED),said "not the problem". Then Said pump broken.$600 to replace.Spent maybe 20 minutes total.AN HONEST TECH FROM AN HONEST COMPANY CAME. THE DRAIN TUBE WAS BLOCKED AND HAD NOT BEEN OPENED.I THEN FOUND ON LINE THAT A NEW PUMP WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY $140.Disgraceful, fraudulent company.

Desired Outcome

I have requested a call back from a manager.

My built-in *** oven was not working properly so I looked for service online. I found Appliance Reapirman and called them. They said they would send a technician to give a quote after advising me that there would be an $80 fee for the visit, which would be applied to the repair if I choose to go ahead with it. The technician came and checked the oven and told me that the cost for repair would be $420 plus tax. He assured me that in his opinion no parts would be required and in the unlikely event that they are then they would not be more than $100-120. However, he told me it was company policy to be paid in advance. I made the payment by credit card for the amount of $474.60 (including tax). An appointment was scheduled for the following week. Two technicians arrived, including the one who had given me the quote. After spending two hours the senior technician told me it was working fine as far as the temperature was concerned when in fact a separate thermometer showed a difference of 50 degrees. The convection fan was not working before and he said it would cost an additional $573 to replace the fan and $989.20 to replace the oven control board - they did not mention either in the initial quote. In other words the oven was as before. I refused to sign off on the work done. I would have just bought a new oven if I would have known how much it would cost to repair it. I will never again use this company!
Product_Or_Service: *** built-i n oven repair

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like the company to refund $474.60, less $80 or net $394.60, as they did not do anything in the two hours that they spent. My oven is the same as it was before their "repair."

We had them come to fix our washer today - they charged 316 including tax and repair person said it was fixed and would be good for another 5 years.
We called them back because it is making a really loud noise and now they are saying it still needs a pump for an additional 338 plus tax - service guy DID NOT SAY THIS. Didn't give us the option to not fix it - I only paid 650 for the washer I wouldn't have fixed it but my husband didn't know better.

Desired Outcome

Willing to pay for service call but NOT the repair - why would I pay 280 plus tax to fix a washer when it isn't still fixed - so what did he do??

Charged me $280.00 plus tax and assured me that the noise from my dishwasher was gone. Soon as I paid him he left my house real fast. That was the first red flag. Second red flag was when I used the dishwasher later on only to find out the problem was not fixed. Third red flag was the runaround I got when I called customer service. 4th red flag was seeing the reviews on Revdex.com and Home Stars. Fifth red flag, re-examining the website and reading the phony reviews and no links or evidence of being fully licensed and five star rated as they claim. Save yourself some money and avoid these guys like the plague!

. Technician came and just spent 30min to diagnose the issue and the $80 labour end-up to $361!! at the end he said I have to change a part - extra $600. I called customer service and asked them why he couldn't give me an expense estimate before starting his job and she kinda said this is what it is, do you want to order part or not!!!

Similar to others - showed up for two minutes and charged me $80 to say they needed two people to look at my microwave and I would have to call back and they would have to send two repair people out for an additional $160. I called to complain and "Judith" tells me she is the owner would not let me talk to anyone else and her solution was I should have had a man in my house to help.

My dishwasher stopped filling with water and I contacted Appliance Repairman to have it fixed. I was told it was $80 for a service call which seemed fair. A technician came, removed the lower front panel, did some tests and told me I needed a new water inlet valve. After consulting with his office he said it would cost $335 for the part and installation, less the $80 service call which would be deducted from that total. I was shocked at the price (since I paid $549 for the dishwasher 5 years ago) and said I would think about it. However, as I wanted the dishwasher repaired soon about an hour later I phoned Appliance Repairman and and left a message to go ahead and order the part. I hadn't heard back from them the next day and left another message to say we agreed to proceed with the repair. I then got an email saying that because I hadn't paid an additional $270 when the technician was at my house for him to diagnose the problem, if the part didn't fit or if the dishwasher still didn't work it would be my problem, not their's. After a few phone calls they still maintained that the service call fee did not cover the cost of diagnosing the problem, and that I had declined to pay the additional fee to diagnose the problem. I did not decline to pay the diagnosis fee as I was not told I had to. So, in other words, find out what the problem was would have cost me $350!!! This seems totally outrageous!! What would be the point of having a service call if not to find out what is wrong with your appliance? If this is the company's policy it is a total rip-off and very unfair to the consumer. I must say the repairman who came was very nice and I have no complaint against him. My complaint is with the company, especially *** who first denied that I had called back shortly after the technician left to say that I wanted to proceed with the repair, and also said because I didn't sign the order form while he was still at my house the service call charge could not be deducted from the cost of the repair. We are seniors 76 and 78 and are very upset with this company and the way we were treated. We have found someone else to do the repair and do not want any further dealings with Appliance Repairman. We just want to file a complaint and warn others about this company. By the way, we have since learned that this company may have been called Appliance Repair Guys which got bad reviews and went out of business. You can imagine that in our 52 years of marriage we have had many occasions to have appliances serviced and never before have we had an experience like this or filed a complaint with Revdex.com. I have copies of the emails they sent me and can forward them to you.

Desired Outcome

We would like acknowledgement that we were treated rudely, but that isn't likely to happen. Also, that $350 is an outrageous amount of money to pay to find out what is wrong with an appliance.
