This company does not have the best customer serviceThey are take forever to answer their calls and people are arrogant and do not let express your concernThey charge a flat fee of $per technician visit even when there nothing wrong with the unit (gas heater)The technician spend 5mins and said there was nothing wrong with it and leftThe technician mentioned $for the service fee and American Shield said it would be $for the service fee regardless if there was a problemAlso, they cover some part of the labor and unit and still have to pay the contracted company of there are additional feesWhat is the point of paying this home warranty if I still have to pay the service fee + the company they hired to fix the problemVery disappointing

We have had our pool pump go out & had to pay for the repair ourselves because they couldn't find anyone to come fix it in a timely manner They wanted us to wait weeks for someone to come & if you know anything about saltwater pools, you don't mess around on a repair like that We had to pay $out of pocket Will never use them again!

My furnace went out this weekend on a Saturday, I am a mom of little ones (2yr, month old)I went online and requested service through my warrantyI was told I'd get a phone call from a contractor within hrsBut because it was degrees out and my home was so cold this was an emergency and so I called American Home ShieldI was on hold for close to hours and so I hung upI waited for a phone call from a contractor that didn't comeAfter hours of waiting I called a contractor on my own and had them come out to fix itToday on Monday I received a phone call from a contractor regarding my service orderI told them to cancel the order because I had already had the work done and proceeded to call Home Shield to see how I could go about getting reimbursed for repairing my furnaceLong story short they will not reimburse me because I didn't use one of their contractorsAnd said I either should have waited till I heard back from them or called Home Shield direct to request and emergencyI tried to but was on hold for so long, I had to do something, the temp outside was below freezing and I had two babies at home to keep warmI am very disappointed in this company and will not be renewing with them next yearWhy would I, they weren't there for me in my greatest time of need

We purchased a warranty in October to be included in the sale of a houseWe used it once with satisfactory resultsThe buyers did not want to continue the service, so in November I called to cancel the contractBy my interpretation of the agreement, given the cost to them of the one repair we had done, I didn't expect much of a refund, if anyWhen I asked the customer service rep if I could expect one, she paused to run some numbers, and gave me an amount that was almost 80% of my purchase price! She had to transfer me to another rep to make this happen, but within a few days it appeared in my accountSince repairs and such were being handled by my real estate agent I can't speak to how things went on-site, but from my perspective things could not have been smoother

The worst experience ever
Order placed on 11/20/
The plumber was at the property on 11/21/
New water heater ordered on 11/22/
New water heater delivered to the plumbing company on 11/23/
The pluming company held the water heater for days and refused to install the water heater until 11/29/16, because they accepted more orders from AHS that they could handle
I think this was completely ridiculesIt seems that the plumbing company did not care and AHS did not care eitherI guess to both companies it was OK to leave a family with a child in the middle of winter with no hot water for days I will never do business with AHS or A*** Plumbing C***

I have had a simple electrical repair denied twice by American Home Shield, each time citing a different reason! It seems they just drag-and-drop excuses in an all-out attempt to avoid coverageI can't imagine how it is acceptable (or legal?) to deny a claim for one reason, only to change the reason when their first excuse was exposed as false!

AHS services are no more the same , they have long wait time and web site does not allow to transfer or cancel a requestThe contractor they have provided did not contacted for over hrs (Whereas they claim that you will be contacted within hrs), Even thought the contractor is not available they are not ready to transfer till they be able to contact them but somehow the contractor is not responding on the phone number provided, so you are now struck and did not got service and end up using private company to fix the issue after a terrible experience and being on phone hold for hours with no results

On a pool pump replacement in late June, AHS sent Ray from A***-B*** of FL Inc where he noticed our pool HEATER was rusting (years old) and told my wife it was caused by our in-ground sprinkler head spraying on itI found it unusual that a tech would make a statement like that without first concluding the sprinkler was indeed spraying on the unit because had he checked, he would have found the spray pattern, like ALL of our sprinkler heads, spray away from the house and this one in particular AWAY from the heater Was A***-B*** looking for components to condemn, thus saving AHS future claims- makes me wonder? I didn't think much about it until I started wondering what happens if I have a heater failure since I paid for this optional coverage? I called on Sep and spoke to Aleika who advised me that rusted components ARE covered if it falls under the wear and tear category (remember- years old) It would be up to me to request another company because of the notes made by Ray, and if that second company concurred with Ray's diagnosis, I would be charged a $service call fee and the full cost of replacement would be mine Being that A***-B*** was the ONLY recognized pool company in my area, AHS would have to look for another company outside the area which might take a bit longer to call and schedule Interesting that AHS has only ONE pool company in the southern Florida area to handle all of their claims- back to my wondering if they solicit companies to seek components to exclude from coverage?? That should have been my first red flag telling me of the hundreds of pool companies in this area, only decides to contract with AHS??
I agreed knowing that once a second company saw the fan spray from the sprinkler head in question, they would conclude the issue is wear and tear- after all the heater is outside and rain does fall on it
Well, fast forward to Sep when our heater did have a failure (leak) and I called AHS to request a service visit This time I spoke to "Alkeesha" who informed me the part was not covered based on the notes from June and had I called within days of those original notes, they could have then sent another tech to get a 2nd opinion but it was MY fault for waiting so longWhat?! First, there are NO terms in my contract stating I have days to dispute notations of observations and what really set me off was when I asked her to confirm the notes from days earlier by Aleika, I was told the notes stated "I was informed that the pool heater was no longer covered" and absolutely nothing was noted about me having the opportunity to request a 2nd opinion! Not only did Aleika NOT tell me the part was now excluded, but she "conveniently" left out of her notes our discussion of my right for another opinion I was on hold for minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor and when "Alkeesha" came back to say she was still waiting for to become available, it was quite evident to me that she simply put me on hold hoping I'd hang up (which I did not) I told her it was obvious where I stood as a 3-year customer and I simply would rather talk to the cancellation department minutes later I was speaking to an associate name Asia who was sincerely apologetic but could not offer me assistance on this claim I cancelled my contract immediately and can only hope this raises awareness for others I consider myself one that is extremely fair and wants only what I'm paying for, including consideration and respect when I call I can say for the or experiences previous to this, the service was nothing short of exceptional This however was unacceptable and I couldn't even get to a supervisor to explain my position

Worst company on the planetPurchased house months ago Last Friday Gas furnace failed, called American Home Shieldwas told business hours before we would receive a call to schedule an appointmentCalled local tech, he said unit had flames coming out of it, and he cut gas because gas is now exposed, and could cause an explosioninternal wiring now burned up Called American home shield back on Monday, was told if the unit was on fire, would not be covered, also told if unit will not turn on to be diagnosed would not be covered Asked the rep if they blow up my house will they replace it, was told no Set an appointment with Lam Air to come out Wednesdayovernight, thought this was a shady company and cancelled the apt Tuesday morning Ordered a new unit myself and it is being installed Do not trust this companyIf your unit fails, then catches on fire because of it, they will not cover itSpoke to a supervisor, they said it's in the contract that they have to be able to turn it on to diagnoseno regard for the safety of the techs they send out, or the occupants of the houseI told her that any tech with a brain after seeing the inside of the unit would never risk turning the unit on
I am using this as a $learning experience never to trust these people

I am extremely unhappy with AHS, and would recommend that you stay away from it There are other more reputable home warranty companies out there, but AHS is not one of them I had the contract with them for one year, and twice they found reasons to not make repairs I still had to pay the service call fee, on the top of the monthly fee Plus they automatically renewed my contract without my consent, and when I found out and called them to terminate they said I have to call within days after the contract was renewed to get my premium back, and turns out that I called (surprise, surprise) on the 31st day I did not even know that I was supposed to call to terminate It's a SCAM!

Our AC compressor went out on Jun Called American home shield for a service requestWas told a vendor would call me within hours As the temperature is hovering around degrees I called the vendor myself An appointment was made and it was determined that the compressor had diedI was told that the diagnosis was sent tot AHS and I would be contactedI was also told that someone would call me from AHS on Friday the No call called the vendor wold told me that they were waiting on the okay from AHSOn June after a minute wait on hold I was told the request was sent tot the order department and someone would call me on rd No call After a minute wait on the I was told that no authorization was sent from the vendor Still no AC and waiting on the vendor to return my call
I will not recommend this company to anyone in the future
Hot In Arizona

I've had AHS for several yearsI am really disappointed with their service latelyThe contractors that they are hiring are overworked and understaffedIt's usually guy trying to service several different areasMy washer went out on 10/24/the technician was not able to repair, so a replacement was requestedIt has been over a month and I still have not received my washerCustomer service for the new appliances is horribleThe wait time on the phone is always at least hourThis is ridiculous

I previously made a service request on SundaySince it was the weekend, I expected to hear back no later than TuesdayI have not heard anythingI call American Home shield and I have been on hold for hours! This is ridiculous! All I am trying to do is call and check on the status of my repairI hung up afterhours and called back but connected to the sales departmentThis representative picked right upI think it extremity unprofessional how you all will answer quickly for potential new customers but make your current customers wait over hourShe told that I would have to wait and that she could not help meAt this point I am rethinking joining this home warranty company

This review doesn't weigh the cost of contract nor the service fee charged in AZI have had AHS several years and have had service calls for two appliances, and both required two visits by technicians, but resolved the issueResponse were within my tolerance for failed clothes dryer and dishwasherThese failures sure didn't balance the cost of the plan, but it has given me some piece of mindCustomer response was timely and a pleasant experience

I have been a customer of AHS for almost years and the times I've had to use their services it has never been smoothOnce you schedule service contractors never show up in a timely manner and in different times they never showed upAHS gave ma a very hard time to even change a contractor that never showed up, they still wanted to continue to wait for them even though they were not responding to either AHS or my callsThis last time I had a water heater problem due to a pipe leakAfter they sent the first plumber and told me the job was going to be covered with some out of pocket expenses the plumber again disappeared and never showed up to do the jobAgain AHS gave me a very hard time to switch plumbers and offered me money as a cash outI told them I really just wanted a new plumber that could do the job and they finally agreed to send another plumber and after waiting for another weeks I received a message in my office that they would not be covering the job because the problem was caused by a pipe leakI do have coverage for all plumbing but they call this now "secondary damages"My first request for this repair was back in November and here we are at the end of February of and I just received that callEven though they originally told me it was covered and even offered a cash out, after all these months now they say they will not cover the jobThis is a clear example of a very dishonest company not to mention incompetentIt is sad to see there are companies and people that practice business this wayAs a former Service Master franchisee I am very disappointed to see the poor quality of service and the lack of any desire to do the right thingWith the exception of a few customer service representatives most of the personnel I have spoken to including management are not cordial, contradicting the fact they are in the service industryThere are many home warranty companies out there and I will definitively not recommend using AHS

DO NOT USEI have been without AC in Houston from July until August and t it has yet to be fixedAll you can do is talk to a call center where they know NOTHING and cannot helpTo make it worse the comapny the are using to handle the install has Never reached out to meThey have lied about when they received parts and have decommitted and lied about when they would handle the install......Still waiting....I will NEVER recommend AHS or*** in Pinehurst TX to anyone...EVER

AHS was quick to respond to my rental, Hot water heater not working, got a service tec verry quick, now I'm out of hot water, and the tennants are happy Thanks GR

I have been waiting for four weeks to have my dishwasher repairedIt should have been replaced but they decided to have this fly by the night repair service order parts to fix it Three visits later it still leaks water and is not fixed Have called AHS at least times and have to start over each time with the story of the past four weeks Waited a half hour today for a supervisor only to be put into voice mail They should be taken to court by the Attorney General They really make you jump through one hoop after the next hoping you will just have the appliance fixed yourself saving them money Total Ripoff

Hi, I think is really important for people to know about good and bad companies, if you are not sure about American Home Shield well don`t be, I should have listened to the reviews I`ve read about this company, they in my opinion are scams and so is the people that work with or for them, the only time I needed service first I paid $for the visit which took about minutes the guy didn't even know how to open the front door of my washer, so I opened it for him, the machine was working days out of the month and then stop working after the "professional" came down and did nothing to fix but order parts that I knew didn`t need, I then after week and a half waiting for the service and the parts to come in, I decided to investigate the machine, so I opened the top panel which he also had it opened and noticed a quick release wire disconnected, the machine then was working again, when I called the company they sent over to my house they said that he forgot the plug it back on, okay right? no is not okay, this is just not okay with me, someone whos professional will not forget to connect a wire back, so if the company stand behind people that don't know what they`re doing, can`t be a serious or good company, paid for more than a year, could`ve bought a new washer, drier and had more money in my pocket

AHS refuses to completely resolve a covered item since September 2016!!! I opened a service request with AHS for an HVAC problem on October Their local contractor showed up and diagnosed it as a air handler problem, and said it would need to be repaired or replacedHe put the request in to AHS, and they approved a replacement...BUT they will only pay a portion of the replacement (approx 50%, or $834) - and want me to bear the other costs which, per the contract, should be coveredThe air handler is located in the attic, and already has float switches, an emergency drain pan, risers etcAHS refuses to provide an air handler that fits this existing set-up, and wants me to eat the cost of a permit, new float switches, drain pan and risers (estimated to be ~ $727) which will be required for the new air handler to workWhen I called back against this nonsense, they quickly tried to offer me cash in lieu on October 11,I asked them to increase that amount to cover the existing set-up, and they have been giving me the run around ever sinceThe two people I spoke with include Marco, who refused to have his supervisor call meI finally did find another way to get to the supervisor, Rashida, who called me at a time when the AHS site was down and the contract unavailableShe promised to call back later, and months after, there is no wordWorst of all, AHS' internal website marks the service as 'COMPLETE' which is blatantly untrueRip-off, lies and headaches all come free with the contract
