I have been a customer of American Home Shield for years +In MY EXPERIENCE they do not warranty their work! I've paid for the same repairs multiple times and they still refuse to correct the issue or replace the system But the worst is their absolute failure to answer the phone or respond to telephone callsI have spent as along as 1/hours on hold to RESPOND to their request to finalize a claimI have been left without heat and without a stove for days and weeks (respectively) The total disregard for customers exhibited by this organization is horrible and stereotypical business we see today management so focused on their own bonuses and titles they are completely out of touch with why their Revdex.com NEGATIVE RATING is 95% Start putting the customers needs in front of your own MrH***
I recently changed warranty companies at the recommendation of a friend Not only was the cost for the AHS plan and the service call fee higher, the customer service call center waiting period is over minutes
I wanted to get a copy of my warranty plan and signed up on the website When I clicked on the link, it said "PDF file unavailable Please try back later or contact support Thank you." So I called and was on hold for over minutes
The customer service representative did explain that the summer time is a very busy call time and that AHS has over mil customers I can understand this being the issue So I shared I was unable to pull up my warranty plan She said that they were working on the website So if they had mentioned that instead of "try back later or contact support", I would not have needed to call Instead I waited on the phone for minutes Also, she was unable to send me a copy of my warranty plan electronically only mail it There is no way to leave a message on the website nor to contact administrative offices
For such a large company, I'm perplexed the website and customer service are not top notch! O*** and N*** had better service I will be searching for other warranty companies when this one expires
Washer repair issueS*** is the contractorHaving difficulty getting them to come out to repair the machineAHS does nothing to help the customer by getting them an appointment time for the scheduling issue on the part of S*S*** claimed there was an appointment in placeI called the previous day to confirm appointmentOn the day of appointment S*** said they has an appointment scheduled but no technician assigned so it cannot be doneFirst appointment was weeks ago
My issue is one of cancelling the service, since I never made a claim to the companyAmerican Home Shield drew the fee out of my account as agreed uponI decided to cancel due to a friend's negative experience and my contract was almost completedI called them on Thursday and spoke to a represenative who took my information, asked me why was I cancelling and assured me that I would an email within the next hoursI never got the email so I telephoned again on Sunday and again a representative took my information and gave me the same assurances as the first representativeThis time I was also given the number of the retention center just in case I did not hear from anyone in a timely mannerI still never heard anythingSo on Wednesday I telephoned the retention center number and I was told via recording that there was a fifteen minute wait time (I hung up after holding for minutes)I ended up having to pay my bank a service fee to stop payments from American Home ShieldBased of the service I received from them I cannot in good conscience recommend this company
In purchasing a home warranty you are supposed to be purchasing peace of mind for those 'unexpected' home outages We purchased a new home in and opted for a home warranty, in August the AC went out and AHS sent a tech to 'fix' the problem Now in May of 2016, we are still dealing with AC issues They choose to 'remedy' the problem for the time being and don't care if it breaks again within a couple of weeks It is apparent that AHS isn't willing to truly FIX what is wrong, but make it better for the time being I do not put any trust in AHS or the Techs that they send out any longer The tech will tell you the unit needs replacing, but they tell AHS that they can fix it with this 'bandaid' We weren't going to renew this year and decided to give them a 2nd shot Wishing we hadn't I would definitely not recommend using this company if you expect items to be fixed for more than a short period of time In the months we have been dealing with the AC, there have been 6-service calls
The first warranty claim that we called in was on our oven that was not working properlyAfter a very strange experience with the repair man and after them shipping a part off to be repaired and finally weeks later getting it back and it still not working, then they had to replace the overtotal time was almost monthsMonths without an oven
Second issue was a faucet which they denied service on
Third issue was a stopped up drain which the first guy that they sent couldn't fixNor the second guy and then they just gave up on it
Fourth issue was a faulty bathroom heater/exhaust fanCalled in a claim and after weeks of not hearing from anyone I called backThey did no follow up and made no attempt to resolveAssigned it to a new company who never replied and American home shield never followed up
And then they keep calling me wanting me to renew my policy
I have been trying for several months to have my refrigerator fixed I've had occasions to pass me by because I can prepare foods or dessert because my refrigerator is not in working order This is not good business practice, nor is it good customer service I should be reimbursed some how for the monthly premiums that is deducted from my account each month We are now coming up on Christmas, I will probably have to go over my sister's to use her fridge for my desserts Soooo sad
AHS sent a company to me that had only negative ratings, O*** S***, to repair a garage doorAHS needs to contract with responsible, reliable companies O*** S*** tried to scam me and to cheat AHSThis was the second bad experience I have had with companies sent by AHSIn the past I have trusted AHS to select reliable workmen I will not trust them againI have three properties insured with them and I am changing them allI fail to see whith so many negative ratings you allow them your rating of "B."
I paid a full year for the American Home Shield coverage, $ I was told when I reported we were going to move months before the contract was due, that we couldn't take the coverage with us and it would be prorated They said I would need to contact the "Customer Retention Department" Instead of me getting prorated I was charged a bunch of fees for canceling which amounted to a great excuse for not receiving any of our money back Fees such as: Administration Fee; $38.99, Contract Cost Incurred; $566.90, Prorated Cost of Warranty, Reimbursement Due, $0.00, a whole lot of mumbo jumbo which made no sense I had a service man come out times and each time paid the $fee So this is what they come up with, WHAT A SCAM It boiled down to if I was paying quarterly for the service I would have come out even, so basically I was PENALIZED FOR PAYING FULL DO NOT GET AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!I paid a full year for American Home Shield coverage which was about $ We moved months before the contract was up and I was told
I signed up for insurance for my house appliances based on a flier I received in mailThe insurance charge was $and it was paid for the month of October through automated payment through my credit card For the month of November, the payment went up to $94,without my authorizationBy the time I noticed they took the premium for December as wellCurrently I am struggling to get my money back the payment for November and December
The only way the company can make money is to deny more than they approveSimple business and I blame myself for actually purchasing itBut feel that maybe if I would have read these before I would not haveIf you are willing to go without air conditioning, a stove, whatever for months and months and then get denied then go for itI am certain a few get through but it is a gambleWe spent $plus service calls of $They replaced something that cost $We have since purchased a new air conditioner, new microwave and have multiple other units to purchases because spending $and waiting for them to deny is simply time we do not haveOh and did you know that your heater for your pool should not be kept outside? That makes it available for the environment to ruin it which means they will not fix itSo build it a building to sit in and keep the outside away from your pool equipmentWhy didn't I think of that? Thank you American Home Shield
I have been an American Home Shield company for a year and paying my monthly subscription/membership diligentlyA few weeks ago, the kitchen faucet diverter just gave up and my tenant requested the repairMy condo is inside a 650-unit condo community and we have our own Home Owner Association engineering departmentThey have the parts in-stock and they charge reasonable hourly rate of $to fix the problemWhen I called AHS for claim reimbursement, they flat-out refused because they would have to send their own contractor for "diagnostics" appointment which would cost $120, and the contractor would have to come back for a second appointment because they wouldn't have the replacement partWhen I reasoned with them that our engineering department has been fixing this kind of faucet problems for the past years since the condo inception and it is bonded, insured and onsiteAHS wouldn't want to hear any of that insisting that needed to send their own contractorI want everyone to know that be careful when you are deciding whether to use AHS or not in the futureI have more than one independent contractors told me that AHS only attracts low-rated contractors because AHS pays next to nothing to their contractors and high quality contractors won't need to work with AHS
I have been a l*** AHS customer for more than four years on two separate propertiesTypically they have been responsive, helpful and reasonably f* with the** coverageHowever, buyer's should beware they DO NOT take responsibility for the follow-through of the** vendors
For the past month I have been battling an ongoing A/C issue in the middle of the Texas summer (97+ degree weather) and still have no resolutionOne year ago, they sent a subcontractor, R*** A**, to my house to diagnose a problemIt was a second opinion after the f**st vendor they sent out did an improper diagnosisR*** A** told me we needed a new A/C condenser (outside unit) and coil and charged me $4,for a matching Trane Seer, ton system with a 10-year warrantyOne year later, my home isn't cooling and the new technician, S*** AC (fabulous), was sent by AHS to assessWhile addressing the burnt out motor, the S*** tech informed me that the coil was quite old (2011/2010) serial number and was not at the right capacity to match the throughput of the outside unitHe also took a picture of the coil and it was in fact NOT a Trane as agreed upon and paid for with R*** A**
Because the A/C unit was still not functioning properly, S*** called AHS and explained the dilemmaAHS denied the claim and refused to fix the problem saying the parts were under manufacturer's warrantyThe warranty filed by R*** A** was INCORRECT and INVALID (they filed an a** handler instead of coil and the property doesn't have an a** handler onsite)During this discussion in reviewing the account with AHS, we discovered that R*** A** did not follow any of the protocols of AHS and never filed the claim or turned in a diagnosis that requ**ed the new A/C (the $4,expense)
Fast forward one year and neither AHS nor R*** A** are owning up to the** negligence or inability to resolve the vendor management issue that caused gross mishandling of my account and an out-of-pocket expense that was unnecessaryEvery day for the past week, I have called AHS to get a resolution and have been placed on hold for up to hour almost every timeI've asked to speak to a supervisor, and I've been told that I can call for a second opinion on the** denied claimHELLOdo you not realize that R*** A** is going to deny the claim because they sold me a bill of goods???? Of course the vendor is going to deny the claim when they realize they are at fault
My last attempt to speak to a manager has given me the excellent advice that I can send a formal complaint via US mail to the AHS corporate headquarters since apparently no one in the call center, contractor complaints, or authorization departments are capable of handling a mismanaged account or customer complaint of this magnitudeI've left my name and number five times asking repeatedly for a manager or supervisor to call me since one week agoI'm still waiting
You have been warnedDo NOT use themWhen the going gets tough, they give you indefinite amounts of hold music as a form of torture for wanting them to do the** darn job!!!
I am unable to contact this company I have tried sitting on hold on the phone, times now.....after one hour of waiting, I hang up I need to talk to someone, but cannot No one answers the phone! HOW DO I TALK TO A REAL PERSON????
Took weeks to get water heater replacedNow it has been months to get dishwasher fixedCalled them several times for acFinally replaced ourselvesCalled for the dishwasher previous to current episodeElectrician came outSaid he couldn't move dishwasherNeeded a plumber to move so he could fixPlumber said noMy husband moved it and found an electrical wire exposed and arcingAHS didn't fixMy husband didThankfully house didn't burn down while waiting on them to quit bickering about whose job it wasWhen I called AHS about current problem the rep scolded me on the phone letting me know their contractors meant mire than the paying customerNot worth the money!!
I have used American Home Shield for a number of years and am very pleased with their support and service I live in rural Trenton Texas and on a number of occasions they had difficulty finding a service company and ask for my assistance and in each of those cases were supportive and professional They were professional in all dealings and issuesI would recommend them highlyKen
RUN!!! The company is a rip of! They send incompetent contractors to your residence just to collect the $deductibleYou will pay the contractor regardless if the work is done or notI called the retention department and they were RUDE! The amount of $$ I've paid into this scam monthly I could have hired someone with a license to get the job doneThis company is in the business to get paid and leave you feeling robbed!
I have the AHS policy covering wear and tearMy contract states thatOur bathroom faucet broke, and so I called AHSThey sent a technician (3rd party) to assess and file the reportI paid $for this investigative visit as per my contractThe technician reported the "Master bath #has hot valve is broken and leaking, crown nut is missing pieces and is non-repairable"My wife signed his reportThis reports was used by AHS qualifying the damage as NOT wear and tear and so they rejected the claim - and took my $I checked out Y*** reviews for R*** serivces plumbing company (technicians AHS sent), and there are tons of customer complaints with AHSIt seems these two companies have partnered to work around the issues, provide reports that h*** apply contract terms and deny customer claimsNice partnership in swindling AHS customersThis is not proper business and must be looked into by AHS and Revdex.com and h*** institute customer-focused practices
We had a warranty for over a year with this companyThe final claim was a water heater that did not heat waterThey sent out a company, we paid the $and the company's diagnosis was that the vent had fallen from the roof and that's why the water heater did not work anymoreAHS called and said it's a secondary issue so nothing is coveredWe called B*** B*** for a second diagnosisThey said the vent has nothing to do with why the water heater doesn't work, that the water heater has a faulty valve and it was still under manufacturers warrantyBB called the company and ordered the part and put it in and it works perfectly
The company AHS sent out either was trying to get us to buy a new water heater or are unable to diagnose propertyAHS cared more about not covering any cost than confirming the diagnosisWhen I asked AHS about a second opinion they said we would have to pay another $fee
We cancelled our contract with AHS
This has been a very festinating process I filed a claim for my A/C unit on 4/4/15, the repairman came out on 4/8/not to mention he was over hours late for the time they told me he would arrive, it took days for the repair tech to submit the repairs to American Home Shield, which was just to replace a compressor It is now 4/13/15, a full days later and I do not even have a appointment for replacement yet I would caution anybody looking into this company, everything takes hours to get an answer on, and warranties are great but if you have to wait 12-days for repair is it really worth it They take their sweet time and have zero urgency to assist you, I could go on and on but I will not waste your time like this company did to me
