I wrote a letter to the president of American Home Shield for the manner in which my a/c malfunction was handled in Houston's hottest summer This version is steeply abridged
I learned that the customer is the only one who follows up on service request response time
I learned AHS is not adequately staffed with professionals to respond in a timely manner There is no supervisory recourse for what could potentially be inadequate work performed on the first go-round
I learned that AHS answers the phone on weekends but that business is not conducted
I learned that AHS values protocols above the needs of the pre-paid insured, regardless of the systematic failures of AHS and their vendor to resolve this matter over the course of days
I learned that regardless what AHS promises, there is no intent to deliver
On the 11th day two hours late of the scheduled appointment after my 12th phone call, the AHS vendor install crew arrived to repair my a/c unit under the terms of my American Home Shield Warranty contractThe interior temperature of my home is degrees
I am in my third year with American Home Shield I really have no complaints except one time waiting and waiting to get through They send out very experienced professionals They have replaced my furnace, repaired my fridge and a/c Fixed my plumbing numerous times They back up everything they say on their contract Most Reps are friendly and want to help I had a really grumpy, robot like rep one time I would highly recommend AHS As a matter of fact my friend went with them and she has not had a problem either They are prompt When my furnace went out, they gave me $to buy space heaters so we could keep warm in the dead of winter
I had been a Real Estate Broker for over years and ALWAYS referred my clients to AHS
.UNTIL I became a customer of their coverageNEVER AGAINThey send you contractors whom they themselves have filed complaints against and won sizable judgements from, yet continue to send them out to their own customersYou request, in writing to change your coverage, they ignore your request, several timesMaking a phone call to them several times and finally getting to talk to a live person, or should I say persons, I went through of them on one call, may get you partial satisfaction
GOOD Luck and may the force be with you...to those who chose to stay with this companyThe corporate professional menu on ethics has definitely changed for AHS
We had a problem with our ice maker inside our refrigerator There is only one company that AHS has in our area that works on Subzero refrigerators It took months and at least visits The first time they told us that they needed to order a new ice maker to install They came back several weeks later with the new ice met be then told us that they had the wrong part Several weeks later they returned and installed the new ice maker The arm caught on the door every time we opened the door and it never made ice We knew something was wrong immediately and tried calling the service company (we could never get an answer or a call back) We called AHS and told them that the installation was done incorrectly and the ice maker was not functioning and asked for an immediate return service call to fix it That did not happen We had to call back a eventually got another call scheduled Then they came back and said the ice maker needed another part that would have to be ordered by AHS That took weeks Our air conditioner problem is an even longer story Dealing with AHS is a nightmare The service people with whom they contract are substandard
This company is joke or better yet a scamThey have done nothing but cost be me more money and headachesWhen I call I will stay on hold for about minutesThen if I have an emergency it takes them hours to even have someone call youReally...we had sewer water in our bathroomThey won't reimburse you for emergenciesCrooks! Unbelievable!I want a refund on this policy and I want it canceledNever get home warranty'sIt doesn't help
It is just a rip off I feel like I was discriminated against the first tech came out times and of those visits he did absolutely nothing and then they sent another tech out for a second opinion and he did nothing also
I am very much disappointed with the service I am having with American Home Shield I have called to report trying to get the issue with my washer fixed It has been over a month I have called American Home Shield and the wait to even get to talk to any one is to minutes, then they tell you, what they need to tell you, to get you off the phone and promise to call you back with a reply, which no one ever call you back When you call back they just tell you that it was not me you talked to and promise to take care of the situation, which have not been resolved Even thecontractor that was hired thur AHS, couldn't send any one when they got the first part because the girl who answered the phone had jury duty, so the repairman couldn't come out becuse she was outI tried to get the tracking number from the part dept, at AHS, and no one would answer the phone What's the point for having the number This has been a very bad experience
Horrible company to work withI have only had experience with them for a year, but have had thousands, if not tens of thousands, of dollars worth of problems with themMost of the company's they send out are not experienced at all and do very shoddy workReplacement parts that they agree to allow their clients to use are hardly up to code and are likely not installed correctly
Example of what happened to me
December - found that our garbage disposal was leaking
late December/Early January 2016- replaced the garbage disposal
April (Easter) - Due to improper installing of Garbage disposal and poor piping that they replaced the kitchen sink clogs
Late April - A company comes out to snake the draingets snake stuck IN our wall and rips up our wall while attempting to get the snake out - leaves snake in wall
May - finally have a different company come out to snake the drain and pay for it out of pocket
August - Garbage disposal leaks again due to poor installationwater leaks down to the basement ceiling and forces us to file a claim to have a company come cut a hole in our basement ceiling to avoid any extensive water damageHad a personal friend fix the garbage disposal - no further issues with it
That's what happened to me and dealing with their customer service who refused to take any responsibility for fixing our wall just sent me over the edgeWILL NEVER USE this company again and I highly recommend no one ever doing soPlease let this company go out of businessEven the people who work their are unable to do their job
They were suppose to waive a service fee for us in July/August when our A/C unit went out, but they used it on the August incident where we canceled a work orderToday January 24th I finally got this resolved where we owe no more money to this company as they finally waived the A/C service (or so I was told)
I spoke to someone in November/December about the money they claimed we owed, as I knew we owed nothing, and the woman said she would get it taken care of, but a month or two later nothing was ever done about itI will probably have to call back again
I beg everyone to let this company go out of businessthe Revdex.com rating is far too high it should be closer to D+ or even an F

You better hope that when something breaks down you have a computer or IPad available in order to submit a service requestMy A/C went out yesterday evening and I spent an hour and ten minutes on hold waiting to speak to a customer service rep and finally hung upI submitted a service request through the website and it stated that I would be contacted in two hours....it never happenedGot contacted by the service provider the next morning at The company told me that a tech would be at my house between and pmI hung up and received an email from AHS stating that a tech would be at the house between and pmIt's amazing, I have two properties with AHS but can't get ahold of a customer service repCurrently shopping for a company which appreciates my money and provides me with proper customer serviceStill trying to figure out if my year old A/C is under waranty and what is the outcome if it isIf under warranty, do I still pay the service fee? Would be nice to speak to AHS and find out
This is a scam not a legitimate company They take our money, do not repair the equipment, do not have supervisors to complain about their totally sy customer service representatives that hang up on paying customers, but expect customers to continue to pay their premiums It has been six month and I still have not received a call back from a supervisor, the air conditioner in my house still does not work and I am done paying for the complete lack of service from this scam
Recently bought a house with an older oven in itAHS warranty came with the house for the first yearAfter a few months, our old oven died Called AHS and a repairman came out the next day and said they don't make the part I need anymoreIt took a week or so, but AHS sent us a check for $for a new ovenNot too bad of an experience, reallyBut, the wait times for customer service is awfulMy quickest time to talk to someone was minutesLongest: hung up after minutes
Horrible serviceDon't care about what is happening with your service request and the serivce you are getting from the company that is coming out to work on your house
American Home Shield horrible customer service and no repair has been done to my washer that was called in over a month ago as of Dec to be exact and the washer is still not repaired yetThey don't follow up and they hire the worst contractors to fix your appliancesIt shouldn't take a month to get something fixed!!!!
Do not use this survey It is a waste of money and they are rip offs! I'v had a number of issues with them Most recently, I put in a service request because my air conditioning unit was leaking water The first plummer that came by said that he was not able to unclog the drainage line He reviewed my policy and said that because of rust and corrosion, he will need to install a condensate plump and a drainage line He tried but wasn ot able to get the line without it jamming in between the outside of the house and the unitI was refered to someone else who said the same thing but went further and said that I needed an HVAC company to install the pump About a week later, I caled for the status and was told that I was denied because they don't add parts SO I ended up paying $dollars for someone to tell me that they could not help me after they discovered that the cost of installing the pump was going to cost more than the deductible
Do NOT waste your moneyI paid over $3k for warranty for two yearsMade three claims the entire timeTwice on the air conditioner and once on the dishwasherBoth of them were band-aid repairs that I paid more out of pocket than AHS paidAHS wants to put a band aid on it and pay half *** repair cost instead of replacing and we all know that never works out in the best interest of the clientThe contract is very clear, but the sales/customer service get very "wordsy" when you call in a repair and you THINK it will be repairedThey come out talk to the tech and suddenly, it isn'tWhen you ask them about what you were just told on the phone, they refer you to your contract Also, paid $out of my own pocket for freion AHS only covers 10lbsHad I just kept what I spent on the warranty, I could have replaced my entire unit and repaired the dishwasher
This is the worst experience dealing with this company
They send out the first technician, and all he did was turn the temperature up in the fridge and freezerHe said it wont freeze up any moreWell it froze up
I scheduled a second appointment and he came out to tell me he had to order parts
Well I'm going on daysStill no answerTold me to call back to see if parts came in
In the mean time I have to de ice my fridge every two days to keep it from spoiling my food in the fridge
I have submitted requests for service The contractors they are dispatching are not calling me back and the company is doing nothing about it It seems as though the home warranty is a scam to just make money without providing a service This is very disturbing
They send technicians out who basically have been told to fix the minimum or nothing at allTechnicians are like stages of the system so they come out to basically collect their $and leave and then they know American J*** will probably deny the claimYou can tell the technicians are as frustrated with them as clientsI hate AHSITS A SCAM
I just got called out to do repairs at a home "covered" by this company after putting in the time to identify the problem, the company found an excuse to refuse to cover the cost of the repairs
they are now on my "do not patronize" list
I made the biggest mistake of my life when I changed to this home warranty companyI been a customer since October of and I put in my first service request weeks ago because I had a turnover on tenants, my last tenants had told me that my dishwasher wouldn't close so I summited a service request to AHS because I wanted my dishwasher to be ready for my new tenantsA tech showed up just took a look at my dishwasher and said he couldn't fix it because the damages were physical when it was obvious that the springs from the door broke and the when the door fell it hit the ground(my dishwasher sits about inches lower than my floor)I paid $service fee for that, I wasn't happy with the diagnostics so AHS sent another tech for a second opinion which at the same time I had summited another request for that tech to take a look at my fridge because the ice dispenser was not dispensing ice, which I had to pay another $for that servicetech showed up didn't do anything to my fridge or my dishwasheron top of that AHS charged me another $So I'm not only screwed on $now but my appliances are still not workingI called AHS to put a complaint I told them I was going to cancel them and the customer service agent says "would you like me to transfer you to the cancellation department"? Really.!!! She didn't even try to help me, they rather loose a customer than to give a good serviceI am done with this company I don't recommend it to anyone and I will be going back to *** they get the job done
