Horrible, horrible companyThey are trying to rip us off! Talked with Tasha - out of service support and they are not covering our claim because a part to our broken toilet is missingThey are trying to rip us off for $to fix the toilet
I don't know why I'm even bothering to waste my time on typing all of this Long story short, I'm in a similar situation with others here No A/C for a week now Now it's the July 4th weekend, and they are waiting on the price for a part they say, so I won't hear anything back until after the holiday, effectively putting me almost at the 2week mark with no a/c I've got three children, what do they think we're supposed to do with no air conditioning? Part of it is my fault, I was being an honest guy and when they called me with the claim the first contractor put in, I told them it wasn't the same as what his receipt said that he left at my home said I didn't want them to get stiffed by a shady contractor possibly So they send another one for a second opinion Now there's conflicting diagnosis and they can't figure out what they are going to pay for In the long run I know it'll be the cheapest option for them, not what is best for my family the customer So now I get to enjoy all this holiday weekend in triple digit heat in Texas No sweat off their backs though huh, that's all that matters
Think twice before choosing American Home Shield (AHS)I purchased a condo about months agoA requirement of escrow was home warranty coverage We were given the name of three providers, we chose American Home Shield
I have tried to use AHS times, for plumbing and electrical issues, and have never received satisfactory service or repairsAHS makes it impossible to meet the guidelines for coverageTheir home warranty plan customer service reps are experts at coming up with reasons why your problem is not covered by the plan
Save yourself the stress , hassle, and frustration, select a different warranty plan
My first time submitting and AHS work request has been enlightening My HVAC unit went out and AHS had a technician on-site two days later and determined the coil needed to be replaced I was contacted by AHS three business days later (5-days total) and informed the coil was too expensive and the unit needed to be replaced I was told they couldn't proceed until I agreed to pay uncovered charges/fees identified by the technicianThey totaled $1, I was surprised and asked for the list of charges She told me I'd have to ask the technician about the fees
I contacted *** *** *** *** regarding the list of fees/charges and the list seemed suspect I'll just cover the three most erroneous charges for the sake of time The technician told me a load calculation assessment was required before the county inspections office would issue a mechanical permitHe was charging $for the calculation, which is based on square footage and takes ~ minutes, in addition to $in permit fees Additionally, he said I was required by NC law to install a programmable thermostat and he was charging $for it--installed of course! Most would assume a responsible HVAC company would confirm these requirements and charges prior to relaying the costs on to the customer--right!
Yes, I called the county inspections office The gentlemen had worked there for 15+ years and said they had never required a load calculation to replace an existing HVAC unit The load calculation is done when the home is constructed and the unit is initially installed--makes perfect sense He also said the permit fees were only $65--NOT $ I also looked up the NC Residential Energy Code regarding programmable thermostats It only applies to new construction or if there is a "change of use" with regards to the property I'm grandfathered in and it doesn't apply So, of the three charges/fees I mentioned, totaling $935, only the $mechanical permit fee was legitimate Yes, $of the $in charges was erroneous
I called AHS and explained my predicament I requested to have another technician give a second opinion I was denied, because second opinions were ONLY to dispute the diagnosis--the faulty coil I explained the erroneous fees and overcharges, which actually came closer to $1,of the $1,being charged, but the AHS representative was apathetic to my situation She said I should file a complaint through Revdex.com if I thought *** *** *** *** was doing something wrong She mentioned several times AHS does not have any interest in checking or confirming the fees not covered in their contract She was well versed in quoting what AHS does NOT cover or concern itself with per their contract She said I had two choices: pay the inflated and mostly erroneous $1,to their HVAC technician or cash out and get my own HVAC technician Either way, AHS pays the same; thus, the apathy or disinterest in helping me By the way, AHS is a wholesale company and when you cash out, you might get 50% of what it will cost to repair or replace your equipment and it can take several days to get the cash out price Did I mention at this point my AC had already been out for days in the middle of July in NC? Most people would just give up and reluctantly pay the fees Even worse, most people would assume the charges and fees were legitimate and proceed--not knowing they had been scammed out of over $1,
AHS sets limits on and double checks the fees THEY pay to their respective technicians, but is apathetic regarding fees relayed to us--the customer In fact, AHS has a hefty system of checks and balances in place that limit any and ALL fees and charges (labor, parts, etc.) a technician can charge them Quite the opposite is true when it comes to protecting us, their customers, from erroneous fees and/or overcharges I was specifically told AHS doesn't care about the fees we pay, because they are paid directly to the technician by us (the customer) Ironically, when I called the technician to discuss the discrepancies in the charges, an AHS representative called me back within 2-minutes and said I shouldn't get involved in the process Basically implying I should put my "dunce cap" on and not question what I'm being charged by the HVAC company; yet, they don't provide any means of checks and balances to ensure the charges are legitimate Ignorance must truly be bliss, but only for the ignorant
There are trustworthy companies, but there are those who may be suspect--don't follow blindly It's reprehensible that AHS doesn't have a system of checks and balances in place to protect its customers It's even worse when they call and reprimand us for trying to ensure we are getting fair treatment on our own As far as my credibility, you be the judge I served as a civil engineer in the U.Smilitary for years, overseeing the design and construction of facilities and supporting infrastructure
We had this service for years and we use it twiceBoth times were a nightmareSimple thing - hot water heater wentWe called the company LITERALLY DOZENS of timesYou get put on hold forever and they promise to call you back (this happened SEVEN TIMES) any they never doThe plumbing company that eventually came out said this is the worst company and their goal is to find ways to determine why the event is not coveredThe plumber capped the pipe and left and we never heard form them againAgain another round of unanswered calls to AHSWe were without hot water for SIX weeks AHS could then not find another company to put in the replacement heaterWe gave up and paid for the service ourselvesAHS Promised to reimburse a token amount (they promised to send us a check that amounted to 1/of our cost)weeks later they send us a letter (attached) that then reneged even on on THAT promiseThis company is a total SCAM
I've been with America Home Shield for years nowWhen I first got the warranty I was told for the first year it would have to be in full, which I did, and after that I could do monthlyWell I was making an online payment today for my Dec 18th payment only to find out I had been set up on auto paymentI never authorized auto payments because my funds may not be avail on the 18th every month, especially this monthI called Customer Service and was that apparently when I renewed in Oct of this year that it had to be set up and that I agreed to itI advised the rep that this must be new because all of I was getting a statement and calling in payments or making my payments onlineThe Rep stated that is a policy of American Home Shield and that they never send statements unless the account is past dueI advised the Rep that I've always gotten statements and then I would call in to payNeedless to say, it let my asking for her SupervisorI then spoke Pam (id #: ***) in the Georgia Service Support that advised that being with the company for years that they never send out statementsI advised I have statements like I get my renewal notices reminding me of my paymentsI then asked Pam to review my payment history and that she can see I've been on auto pay and that I'm sure considering this is a company that they have copies of the statements that have been sent to meShe stated that she didn't have the capabilities to pull those statements because they never send statementsPam refused to give me her manager's name and number as well as refused to give her direct numberI'm upset and outraged because I feel I'm being viewed as a liar and I've been a loyal customer with this companyTrue enough this month's payment wasn't paid before or on the due date but you can't just set my account on auto draft and pull something out of your as and tell me this is policy and this is how it's always beenI've no ill feelings toward American Home Shield as a company but the Reps and Management groups need better training in Customer Service
Each time I have called Customer Service, I have waited 5-minutes to speak to a representative Out of conversations, representative gave good assistance, gave great assistance and were terrible When my air conditioner broke, A*** of Lubbock, TX was sent to my home The technician was rude, lied to me and diagnosed the problem without doing the necessary testing to see if his diagnosis was correct I called out a different AC company, who was polite, gave me real options, and told the truth When I called AHS to discuss having a different contractor do the work, I was told I could accept Artic or I could wait for someone from "cash instead of contractor" to call me back I could not use a different contractor, and the representative could not have cared less about my bad experience A week later, when I finally talked to the other division, they offered me $to get my unit repaired myself I disputed the amount, and they told me to call Customer Service I did It was a waste of a half hour of my life I was again told to take it or leave it Obviously, I am unhappy with AHS I guess I will take the cash amount and certainly not renew my contract
I woke up one morning to discover that my sewer pump had malfunctioned Being single, and needing to get to work I panicked and called a local repairman to fix it He had the availability and came out right away And now this company won't cover the expense because I didn't get the repairman through them - for a $expense!! I couldn't even find out from them if my contractor was in their network!! Ordinarily, I would request a repair through them, but this was an emergency that I had to take care of right away to prevent any damage to my home This was such a waste of money I do not recommend them under any circumstances
This company is a scam! A ripoff! They contractors they hire are in bed with the company I had a pipe lead IN my wall They sent out a company called *** *** ***
(***) ***-*** They guy said I had a leak under my slab and that I have a flex slab, so they would have to tunnel under my home to fix the leak Then they wanted an additional $to do a leak detection I kept telling the guy I think it is in the wall He never cut a hole or checked the wall His estimate was $3,plus the $270, plus the $service fee None of which is covered by AHS, so I asked for a second opinion The soonest they could get someone to me was more days Mind you, this has been going on for days at this point How is a person expected to do without water for a week and a half? I called my home insurance company A*** (Brandy H***) and got a referral and they sent me a guy the next day to do a FREE estimate He said I have a leak in my wall, not a slab leak He said he would charge me $to do the leak detection and take it off my bill if use them I agreed and he got started right away He cut a 2xhole in my wall and found it immediately He cut a section of pipe about to inches and had it fixed in less than minutes
I videoed the leak, to photos, have the pipe (AHS will not accept this as proof) I kept the second opinion appointment that AHS set up Two days later they send *** *** *** (***) ***-*** to look He says they guy I used to repair the wall did exactly what he would have done and left I called AHS to let them know all of this and they are refusing to reimburse me the money I payed out of pocket because I didn't get their approval first I couldn't get their approval, because they don't call back I have called them so many times, trying to get their approval NO ONE CALLS ME BACK!!!! Now I am out of pocket over $1,and still need to get the hole patched and wall painted This all started on 1/8/and if it were up to AHS, I still would not have this fixed THEY ARE A RIPOFF AND DO NOT DO ANYTHING THEY PROMISE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! IT IS NOT WORTH THE TIME OR HEADACHE YOU WILL SPEND TRYING TO GET THEM TO CALL YOU AND FIX ANYTHING!!!
How in the world does this company have an A- Revdex.com rating with negative reviews on their own Revdex.com website running to 1???
This coverage is worthless, save your money, from my experience and those of family members - all NEGATIVE
I have not had to use their serviceI requested to cancel my account in NovemberThe service repSaid l had to give their Legal department a reason why l am cancelling After they took another months paymentI spoke with the legal department in December around the 1stI have not received my refundAnd they still are dancing around the issueI have advised I will get my Attorneyit's the principal
I had service with American Home Shield for five years I had the home warranty to cover my A/C unit After I replaced the unit, I called to cancel my warranty I called three weeks before my next scheduled payment The representative told me it was cancelled and no other payments would be auto drafted from my account When I noticed another payment had indeed been drafted, I called AHS I was told that in order to cancel my warranty I had to speak with the retention department, and the only way to do that would be to have them submit the request and I would be contacted in 24-hours I asked to be transferred to the retention dept., and was told I couldn't be transferred nor could I have a phone number to that dept When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told none was available so my options were to leave a voicemail, or to have the rep submit another request for a supervisor to contact me in another 24-hours
Thought AHS was greatWell pump was replaced when it went bad Dishwasher stopped workingAHS replaced the dishwasher with a lesser dishwasher
While all of the techs were extremely polite, the service was not so goodI've had visits to fix my heating systemThe first visit, the tech came out and checked the heat pump and said it was fineThen he determined that I was incompetent to work a programmable thermostatOn their second visit, the tech went under the house and told me the heat strips were not functioning properly but he fixed themAs he was getting in his van, my neighbor's year old had to stop him from leaving because I was screaming for him to stopMy smoke alarm upstairs was going off and the attic with the top floor of my home was full of smokeHe said the blower was intermittently workingIt had stopped working from the time he left my door to the time he got in his vanHe told me the heat strips were blazing hot and melting the insulation above them causing the smokeI found out from the last tech that came this information was not out in the notesA couple of days later my new heat strips arrive and the techs (senior) said they replaced them and fix the issue with the blowerThis was their 3rd trip to fix my heatA week later (days ago) a tech came on their visit to fix my heat and found that the frown was leaking at the heat pump and had completely emptiedHe told me they would need to order the part to fix itOn the 5th visit (today, Jan 21st), the new piece was put on the heat pumpCurrently my heat is workingHowever the the remains, for HOW long? I've already had to go several days without heat due to the company only allowing their techs to "fix ONLY what's broken"I have no clue as to how this company has an A+ rating with the Revdex.com or how they have starsMy experience has not been a good one, and dealing with degree temps without heat has not been easyI'm just praying that it is finally fixed for good
I signed up for American Home Shield because I am a first time home buyer and single parentUnfortunately, I had an issue with my furnace the first week of my contractI called AHS to come out and service it, and the contractor determined that the issue was something that couldn't be repairedHe stated that the entire furnace needed to be replacedBefore he even called to get authorization for the replacement, he said "Well you're only in your first week of your contract and this complication is something that occurred overtimeSo it probably won't get covered because there's no way this damage happened overnight." The thing is, my heater was working fine prior toSo for him to say this, then they call me back and say "well we won't cover the cost because the contractor doesn't believe..." just shows me how shady they arePretty much they could argue this point whenever anyone tries to file a complaintDon't waste your timeThey'll probably only cover minor damage but nothing that'll actually save you money
I've been with AHS for about years now I have two rental units and manage them myself from long distance so AHS services are just what I need
They have always responded to my request for service promptly
They have always fixed the problem...or offered to replace the problem by offering a credit for a new appliance
I am very satisfied with AHS and have never had a complaint
My tenants have never complained about their service either
If I didn't have AHS or similar program I would have to pay a management company to take care of my properties...and that would be very expensive...since I am told they also take a cut of every repair job they have to have done
My first service call to this company was in mid April I reported that my washing machine wasn't rinsing off all the water and the clothes were very damp after the cycle was doneThree days later a service man came to my house and said he had fixed itAfter loads, the problem was still thereAfter calling again, and again, and again....for the next months, and them having to even call a S*** technician, the problem still wasn't solvedWe are now in August, and a technician has been coming to my house at least once a weekI complained that they said if the problem cannot be fixed, they'd replace my dryerThey didn't want to do thatSo here we are in September and another S*** technician came and finally fixed itSix months! That's how long I was without a washing machine! I had to go to the public laundromat to do my laundryThey didn't even bother reimbursing me for all the money I spent having to go to a laundromat, which was more than I had paid for the year of home warrantyI am livid at their service, or lack of it! I will NOT be renewing my contract with them
On 11/I opened a service request via the web
I called on 11/and was told they had hours to find someone
I called tonight 11/29, days later, and was told I needed to talk to a special department
I asked before you transfer me can you explain why no one contacted me? They pretty much refused to engage that question and didn't want to follow up
I asked them to track down what happened so other customer's wouldn't have the same problem and again they changed the topic and transfered me
When transferred, I was told, they couldn't find anyone so I would have to do it for them and pay up front
I indicated this was not the service I paid for and I expected them to actually do the work
They said this was my only option and they repeated the story
I explained the fact they couldn't do the work didn't excuse them from the agreement and making the customer do the work instead was less fair
Again, they repeated the story
I explained this was like I bought a weekly deal to get a do-nut at a shop and that shop stopped carrying do-nuts and told me to go find a store, pay up front, and then they maybe would pay for itFurther this shop argued that it made sense because they didn't carry do-nuts
I was hoping this would make my comment more clearJust because they agreed to a job that they couldn't do didn't get them off the hook and suddenly I have to do the work for themJust as with my kids I told the representative, it is not my problem you bit off more than you can chewI am not responsible for doing your job that as a customer I paid you to doIt is not hard to understand
At that point she said, can I help you with anything else and hung up From 1) customer standpoint, 2) delivery standpoint, and 3) self improvement standpoint this was an epic fail
I have had a home warranty with AHS for several years I have run into the same issue several times When a service person comes to my home and completes a job sometimes I have had to call back because the same problem exists This has been within minutes of the service person leaving my home The company nor AHS will have the service person return because they have closed the ticket out Instead I have to take another day off work for a new day and time This is ridiculous!!! Also I have had the same company come out, not knowing they were on the AHS list, to look at a problem The repairman stated I needed to have the AC replaced I told him I had a home warranty and would call the warranty company I was surprised when I called in the issue to AHS, the same company came out and this time I only needed a part replaced
I have the glass cooktop unit made by WolfThe unit is installed by Wolf in the granite making the glass flash to the surface of the graniteThe glass is sealed to the granite by design with siliconIn order to service the cooktop, the servicing technician must cut the silicon out
I had a regular technician who said that he can't take responsibility for cutting the silicon out, since he doesn't know how to apply it back
I have been with American Shield for more than yearsIn they provided outside authorization to replace the burner without any problem to Wolf Authorized technicianThis time they rejected the services demanding me to provide the access for the repairI don't have the skill to do itThe item is installed to manufacturer secificationDealing with American Shield customer service has become incredibly difficult
