Since I have been a customer with AHS They had been very good up until a couple years ago when I began noticing several flaws in their willingness to help the consumer and be honest I recently needed their services in August when my air conditioner died It was a Friday night in Florida outside air temp was and we have a yr old son I called and was advised that someone would call me within hours to sa time to fix my air conditioner To make a very long story short a service company called me back and advised it was not deemed an emergency after speaking with multiple people it was finally deemed an emergency and I was advised someone would call me and if they didnt I could go out on my own and get reimbursed later Well guess what no one called so I had a reputable company come out and fix the air conditioner I would spend the next months fighting to get my money back Over a week ago I called to cancel my contract and was told someone would call me within hours, shocker no one did so I called again on 2/and was told the same thing Low and behold my debit account was debited their monthly payment today This company is disgraceful, dishonest and a fraud! I would advise anyone who even thinks about going with them to avoid them The companies that they send out even think poorly of AHS however contract with them just to get business
I called to renew my warranty and have been on hold now for one hour and minutesIt has been the worst experience ever to try and renew my warrantySomeone picked up the line and when I said hellothey said crap then put me back on hold then transferred me back to the queueCompletely unprofessionalI will be taking my business elsewhere so that I can actually get come serviceI cant even imagine what the wait and horrific process would be if I actually needed to file a claim! My advice is to go somewhere else!
I have been a customer of American Home Shield for several years. For the last three years I have been calling in service calls to have my heating/ac unit fixed. They have replaced several parts that have went out causing all of my coolant to run out of the unit. Well, I am totally frustrated at this point because everytime this happen it costs me another $600/700 to fill back up the unit because AHS does not cover coolant. I understand the every year maintenace but what about fxing the problem. If the coolant is running out because of a val or something, isnt putting the coolant back in there also fixing it. The companies are putting a bandage on the problem as far as fixing and I have to suck up the biggest cost. Then I call back in to speak to a supervisor and the rep that I spoke to on the phone is completely rude and tells me that someone will call me.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. After having a broken dishwasher under warranty for about 2 months, AHS said they would fix it, then replace it, then back to fixing it, but when the repair man came 6 weeks later, AHS had not ordered the necessary parts. And now they say they won't repair it, only replace it but with a substandard model, not the first one they had offered. When trying to talk to an agent about that, she refused to acknowledge our experience, their errors that led us to being out of a dishwasher for 2 months, or allow us to talk to another agent or supervisor. We can't wait to cancel our policy. We would never recommend this company to anyone, as they don't appear to know what they are doing at all.
I have had American Home Shield for years and never had an issue. Well until I added a pool..... Had several issues with my pool however they sent out a plumbing company to repair. Once the plumbing guy came out I explained all my issues. After they were done I asked about the salt water system, he said "they don't DO salt water systems. Called American home shield about why they sent out someone who does not know anything about salt water systems. AHS response was "the salt water system is not covered under warranty". Tried to explain to AHS that I know the system wasn't covered I wanted to why they sent someone to my house that doesn't know anything about salt water pools. Was on hold to talk to a supervisor and well they hung up on me. Wonderful company, I will NOT be renewing with AHS and I will tell as many people to not use American Home Shield.
We are totally disappointed with the service we have received from American Home Shield. I contacted their office prior to the first service on June 29, 2015 to report our air conditioning unit was not functioning. As of this date, the unit is still not functioning. We are without air. [redacted] has been out seven times and each time has given a different diagnosis and each time leave stating the problem is solved. The longest we have had air following a technician's visit has been 10 days. Needless to say, we are still without air with 90 plus degrees daily temperatures and a one month old baby. In addition to the $75.00 deductible, we have paid an out-of pocket total of $490.00 (250.00 for a wet switch and$ 240.00 for freone). This experience has been less than desirable. Today ( August 13, 2015), I called again to report lack of air and was told someone would call to schedule an appointment. I requested another provider but was told by American Home Shield [redacted] would have to come and diagnose the problem again before reassigning to another provider. American Home Shield has not stood by their promise of service and has shown a lack of concern for us as clients.
I do not recommend American Home Shield. Their customer service department is very difficult to reach and I often waited 30-45 minutes for a representative. The rep I spoke to was rude and not helpful. My dishwasher would not operate so I set up appointment but the tech could not find problem so ordered a reconditioned part telling me he did not like reconditioned parts but that is what AHS sends. I paid out of pocket to have the dishwasher repaired by a local repairman recommend by A[redacted] List and was very satisfied. Also my son bought AHS contract and when his garage door would not open, he called AHS and they told him it would be 5 days before repairman could come. My son is a physician and had to go to work so he had his door repaired the same day by paying the cost out of his pocket. AHS cannot think outside the box so both my son and I have canceled our contracts. Please do not buy a contract for you can get better service using A[redacted] list and save the contract costs.
Customer service is horrible with this company as well as most of the contractors they do business with. In my experience I have had more bad experiences and the good ones I have had to fight for. 17 days and counting in 80 + temps and over90 humidity. Complaining about the time frame does not matter they don't care. Water heater 9 days and could not replace with same equipment so they offered one that would work like the one I had but I had to pay for plumbing it would need to change because they did not have the gallons I had. I have had to fight companies with wrong diagnosis and just down right selling equipment not needed. In my opinion not a company that cares about customers.
Just a warning that this company has changed in the last two years. I have had a Warranty with AHS for over 10 years, and was always happy with their service. That is no longer the case. The only thing their customer service people do, is read from a script, and apologize for your trouble. I was without Hot Water, for over a week, and the Vendor that they use to supply the Water Heater, could not ship the unit to PA any faster... they continually told me, that they could not do anything about it. When I asked if I could go to another plumber who can install the next day, because now Im without a Hot Water heater for 5 days, in the middle of winter, with 6 people living in my house, they said yes I could, and then I could submit the bill and take a Cash pay out. Well, that is what a did, and I had Hot Water in less than 12 hours. When I called again to get the fax number to do the payout, I was informed that the $1200. bill from my registered plumber, had to be faxed to AHS, and after revier, I would receive a check for $479.00, which they determined is a "fair market value " for a 50 gallon Hot Water Heater... I said, that I couldn't buy one in Home Depot that cheap, let alone have it installed. Then, I find out that my plumber in not registered in my township, so he is not comfortable having his invoice sent to this company. So, I am out $1200., AHS is being dropped as my warranty company, and I will NEVER recommend them again to anyone. I have also informed them in writing that their policies are bogus, and they take advantage of people. Never Use American Home Shield!!!!!!
Horrible Company! Was told as a new customer I should have known to pay the service fee to the guy coming to my house without any instructions to do so. Then they told me I was past due on a bill that I never received.... Horrible service and I don't recommend to anyone!
We have paid for the service well over 2 years and it seems like each time we have needed their assistance they make you jump through hoops to get something covered. Our washer stopped working in Dec. 2015 I quickly submitted a Service request and called in multiple times asking for them to send out a contractor to repair it. Needless to say we were without a washer for more then 2 weeks. That contractor finally came out and he was not able to repair our washer. After all the back and forth with AHS I finally just went out and bought one.
THIS WARRANTY is USELESS!
NOW our AC is not cooling and I called them and reported it on 6/24 thier CONTRACTOR can't make it out until 6/28 we are in TEXAS you can not be with out an AC for that long. Finally got tired of waiting on them and called another service provider outside AHS to come out and repair. This repair is NOT covered by AHS.. Again when thie service is needed this company, home warranty and contractors are not available to assist us.
They sure are quick to take your money but can't help when needed!
They have poor customer service, long wait times and horrible managment.
Can't believe anyone would waste their time and money on this USELESS Home Warranty. What a Ripp OFF!
Company does not care about safety and wellbeing of customers. They do not value the customer's time. Ridiculous hold times when calling, and calls are not returned when they say a supervisor will be calling you back. A plumbing company left my shower handle turning 360 degrees to the point where I could severely burn myself and the warranty company is doing NOTHING to help. I have been getting the run around with a plumbing issue for over a month now.
I have been with AHS for over six years, and rarely used their services. I was experiencing some electrical issues, and was refused service with a $75 fee. The contractor recommended that I moved a microwave that had been in the same location for over four years to avoid overloading the system. My thought was that I requested a contractor for electrical repair and not a home decorator. I am in the process of finding a new company for coverage. AHS is overrated and I say buyer beware. Along the years, the coverage is changed and then it is too late for you. MONEY WASTED.
According to American Home Shield, a water heater going out isn't urgent because we should be able not to bathe, wash dishes or anything requiring warm water for 72 hours. The water heater went out on Friday and the first time the plumber (that they chose for us) was Monday. We waited patiently but then when we couldn't be there on Monday afternoon to greet them, they told us it would be two more days.
I called AHS and requested a different plumber be sent out sooner. They told me flatly that they would not transfer it to another plumber. That's the kind of customer service I can do without. They have my under contract for a few more months, so I guess they're calling the shots right now. But they won't see my money again.
AHS is a complete ripoff, pick one of the many other companies out there in Texas. AHS was recommended to us by our agent. WIthin two months, our AC went out in Central Texas, 100 plus degrees. Called in late in the afternoon, wife spoke with a gal who said she would try to find someone to come out righ away, that was my first red flag. I was out of state so she handled the beginning. When they didnt call back, I called, after hours, and there is no emergency contact after business hours, second red flag. Called the next day and spoke with a spokeshole who said our claim was pending but nobody was accepting it and that they had until Monday, now this was a Friday mind you, to actually fix it. Now a big red flag. Tried to explain it was almost 100 in the house, family had to move out for the night and its Texas, in summer, nothing from spokehole. Tried to explain this is not a dishwasher, but an AC, but she did not care. Asked for companies that accept their insurance, but she refused to tell me. Begged for an emergency response, said it didnt meet their 104 degree emergency level. Was told to call bask after 1 pm on Friday to see the status. So I did, waited nearly 45 minutes on hold, then hung up with no option of leaving a message, but I dont think they would have responded. Its Monday, nothing from them and no help at all. Since I saw this coming, I was forced to hire an HVAC person so my family could come home. We live in a farm property and have animals and a child with medical issues and a working AC is a must. Oh yeah, when I asked about getting it fixed and billing them, I was told no. To top it off, when I called around to several HVAC companies in Texas, they told me they do not work with this company any more because they dont get paid or take several months to pay their bills. Contacted our agent who recommended them and she said she was going to call the rep. Claimed she did, but got nothing from them. She will no longer recommend this company to her clients and express this to her agency, a large one in Texas. Worst home warranty company I have worked with. Avoid them and move on to another, If you dont believe this post, look at the Revdex.com and others, do your research. I didnt and I have a worthless policy. I will submit my bill for repayment, but I have a feeling it will be rejected. I will post that review later. Run away,,,,,
American Home Shield have yet to resolve my AC issues,. I continue to receive horrible customer service with lack of experience. It seems that the representatives are reading from a handbook that has been script for them.
Going on day 3 with lack of service . I was informed by the AHS representative that Supervisors are not available to come on the line to assist.
We just bought a house and moved in June 4 2016, On June 26 2016 the sewer backed into the shower. Called American Home Shield and the customer service Rep told us that we would have to wait for a designated plumber could get us scheduled in. It is now Monday June 27th 2016 almost 24 hours after contacting and have not been contacted by plumber. My husband called the designated plumber to find out that American Home Shield gave the plumber the wrong contact information. Now we are told between 12pm and 5:00 pm June 27 2016. Also when I called yesterday I was on hold for 30 minutes and today I tried an on-line chat and had a 54 minute wait time. I was 74 in the Que and they were on 54
My husband noticed that the spout we have dripping outside (totally normal) was dripping a bit more frequently so he went into the crawl space where the a**condition unit is located and noticed a little bit of water in the pan. In order to prevent a bigger problem we called American Home Shield and they contracted P[redacted] A** D[redacted] to come out. Upon coming out P[redacted] A** D[redacted] indicated that the pipes needed to be blown out and the drip pan needed to be graded and all would be well. In less than 24hrs after P[redacted] A** D[redacted] visit water started dripping from the ceiling. My husband went into the crawl space and the pan was absolutely dry but there was a lot of water on the floor. American Home Shield insisted the same company come out to try and fix the problem they created. They indicated that I would have to take it up with P[redacted] Home D[redacted] in order to get my ceiling fixed. After repeatedly trying to call the company about my ceiling I called American Home Shield to inqu**e on how to get this matter dissolved. They told me that there was nothing that they could do. American Home Shield sent a company that did terrible work and would not work with me at all on holding them accountable or even not using them in the future. Horrible service, horrible customer service.
Terrible experience with this company. Had my air conditioner shut down in Florida and the home reached 97 degrees. The very nonprofessional service technician came out on a Monday, was to return with the part the next day, was a no show, I called the company and the techs cell phone for days, no response. I had to call another company by Thursday to fix the problem. When I contacted American Home Shield, and waited at least 30 minutes on hold, they told me they would not pay me what I paid as they did not authorize my going to an outside company. They had no empathy whatsoever for the situation I was in. I asked to cancel the policy, they said they would send a cancel request to the retention dept as they could not get through to transfer me...I am still waiting for them to contact me back. I also previously had a washer that needed service and that took 5 days.
AHS is the worst insurance company I've ever worked with. They are unresponsive, elusive and unwilling to honor their agreements. I am shocked to see that they are in good standing with the Revdex.com. The data that the Revdex.com tracks speaks for itself. Over 90% have had negative experiences with AHS and over 90% would not recommend them at all. . A/C broke down and despite multiple repairs, leaks and a fire alarm going off, they are still not willing to replace or provide a cash out so we can replace for nearly 2 weeks. I would recommend you going to anyone else but AHS.
