Have attempted to cancel service with this company
They will not cancel service and continue to bill me
I have attempted on two different occasions to cancel service with this organizationThe first was approxfour months agoThe second time was today, 24Feb
They tell me they cannot cancel my service unless I provide a reasonI tell them I don't need to provide a reason I just want them to cancel my service
They then put me on hold, and don't come back to the phoneFirst time I held for about minThis time I held for and hung up

This has been an absolute horrible experience I have had nothing but "technical" problems with my home security system and even worse customer service My system has had communication errors, the system has been sending alarms to ADT and the police department when the alarm system was not even ARMED...we were getting multiple calls from ADT and visits from the police checking to see if we were "okay" Defender (sub contractor to ADT) scheduled a technician to come out to address the issues...the technician was scheduled to arrive Dec between the hours of 3pm and 5pm I had a person over the age of (my son) take off work and waited at the house for the technician to not show up The tech called me minutes after the service window to inform me he would not be able to make it I called Defender the following day to discuss possibly cancelling my service with ADT only to be told I had days to cancel after activation and I was bound to them for the next years I asked to elevate the issue to a manager who stated the same but offered to try and rectify the situation by having a tech come out Dec and would give me months service at no chargeThe tech came out (on time) and informed us that our system works but due to an outage in our area we have no communication if the alarm system is to be activated This area outage apparently has been going on since our system was installed and there is no way to determine when the problem will be resolved to sum it up we have an ADT home security system that may or may not work when the alarm is set or not set We have no communication with ADT or the authorities in the event our home is invaded or burglarized and yet I am bound by contract to keep this "non existent" service for the next years...hopefully we never need it but how can my family and I rest at night knowing our "protection" is not existent? This company has really left a horrible impression on my and my family

Transferred service to new home and was charged almost $
I have been with ADT for over a yearI acquired services with them in July of in my apartmentI was very happy with my services and decided to keep them when I purchased my new homeSo I transferred my services and I was charged over $disconnect fee even though I kept my servicesI am angry and very disappointedI feel like I have been robbed by the people that are suppose to help protect me and my family

I have had ADT service since July I have had nothing but issues with the devices and customer serviceFirst, they release their services to a licensed dealerThere in lies the major problemDefender One is one of their licensed dealers and therefore whatever issues or concerns the customer has, neither company will directly deal with the customer but tries to avoid concerns or issues by dumping the customer back and forthThe last time I spoke with a representative, *** ID# XXXXX, she had promised that if we continued to have issues with the devices installed in our home after this last "repair", then we would be reimbursed for the months paid and released from the contract without any penalty or fees associated with early terminationI have left messages with *** since then to terminate the services since ADT/Defender One continues to fail provide adequate servicesThis has been since November and a month later, no return callThe company states there are notes in the customer's file when calls and repairs, concerns are documentedDoes no quality improvement committee or department not notice how many issues we have had? Clearly, ADT/Defender One know nothing regarding customer service or protection since they continue to fail and disappoint usI truly hope that others can read this review so that they will never have to experience this GOD AWFUL services with these companies

I was a customer of ADT for upwards of years, when I discovered that the system installed in my current home was essentially uselessMost importantly, it had put my entire household at risk for almost decades
Unbeknownst to me, the system that was installed in my current home in Southampton, NY years ago by ADT had only a single smoke alarm connected to the central stationThat alarm was located in an unfinished basementThe two stories above the basement, which housed all living quarters, had alarms that were connected to nothing(This was confirmed when I spoke to ADT.)
Had a fire occurred in the kitchen or in any of the bedroomsor in any other area above the basementit is highly unlikely that an alarm would have been transmitted to the central station or fire departmentFire travels up, not down, and the rooms that should

ADT is a terrible service, that no one should be using They came set it up with just a few sensors, and tried to sell me more I canceled within weeks, they came back and put more sensors in, and we did another contract The installer also said that I needed an antenna to help with the signalI never received that antenna, so I never armed my alarmNow they want me to pay $for no serviceThese people are a rip off

ADT contacted me in January of regarding my account XXXXXXXX for being delinquent in payment I contacted ADT in March of concerning the delinquency in payment and faulty equipment The faulty equipment issue was not resolved therefore I refused to make payment In August of 2015, ADT contacted me again for delinquent payment I agreed to make a final payment because they refused to fix the faulty equipment In January of 2016, ADT contacted me again to make a payment for services they failed to provide ADT should have known the equipment was not working therefore the bill for service was/is invalid ADT continues to send the account to collections for payment I refuse to pay for services not provided after I attempted to rectify the service issue

I am a veteran who served in the Army for yearsI recently moved to Enid years ago, bought a house, and used ADT with $installation, $monthlyI signed a year contractI had to move to another home after months into the contract, and asked ADT to suspend the account until we moved to the next homeADT told me to leave the equipment at the old house(which I thought was weird)I called back for installation of ADT in my new homeADT said that I must sign a new contract for the new home w/ new installation fees and higher monthly charges(approx $installation, and $monthly)I negotiated a deal with "***" (Sales Rep), for $installation, $monthly*** said she'll call me back to confirm the deal w/ her supervisorShe never calledI called back after waiting a week, ADT said they never offered any deal we discussed earlierThen days later, ADT terminated my contract charging me $dollars without my authorizationI read reviewed my old contract, and it did not have any clause that mentions about when you move to another homeADT will just terminate your contract or force you into another year contractWhat really upset me was that ADT asked to leave my equipment at the old home (WHICH I PAID FOR and SIGNED A YEAR CONTRACT), and they backed out on the new offer, then they terminated my contract, charged me $I essentially paid for the equipment for ADT to sell their business to the new homeownerI believe this is very unethical business practice, not offering moving clauses to consumers, when these type of cases happen often especially for veteransEven cable companies understand that people have to move and the equipment has to go with them as wellVery disappointed

The security system company claims they care for your safety, they do not careNot only did one of their reps come to my house, take money from me, try and steal my equipment all behind a deceptive salePromising to upgrade my security system, but ADT DID NOTHING ABOUT IT!!! Unscrupulous door-to-door solicitation of the elderly: My 90+ year old parents had a salesman push their "free" security unit on them while we were awayThey are easily confused and never even remembered signing a contract, much less any details it containedIt took my brother many transfers up the phone chain with ADT to take care of it, and It took repeated accusations of financial elder abuse to get them to drop the hefty cancellation penalty

ADT is to provide 24/security monitoring of my home This is the service advertised and paid for After y home had a large window smashed this past weekend, I couldn't understand why ADT did not call me and register acknowledgement of the alarmI looked at my app on my phone and noticed the alarm was enabled, but there was an issue with cell connection When I called ADT to confirm my home was being monitored, they said it had not been monitored since May 23rd (over weeks) yet I am paying for daily monitoringADT subsequently told me they only check cell connection once a month! Like so many others on here I am here to tell you of the pushy sales tactics, appalling service and even worse equipment and installation practices, and overall complete lack of customer service
1) When I moved into the house I had just purchased the previous security provider no longer existed, having been an ADT customer in the previous house I opted to give them a chance
2) had to endure numerous pushy, unethical, and down right rude sales representatives just to get a system set up
3) was made to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the equipment that "had to be installed for my family's safety"
4) the installer butchered the walls in my home to install the equipment and then evaporated as quickly as he came, more infuriatingly, he did not install the battery baleading to an always beeping, forever un-reliable system
5) Contacted ADT rep to have the installation issues rectified and, you guessed it, nothing ever happened
6)Sold the home, called to cancel the service, has taken over a month to do so and have yet to receive a straight answer from ADT on what is required Was told nothing was owed and account was closed on my first call only to find they continued to debit my accountThen told I owed over $for a contract, then told $700, then told $800, then told nothing owed and on and on and on and on
I have been run around so many times with this company over what should be a simple account closure that I should have worn through a Nike company portfolio of shoes and still never received two matching answers
I AM BEGGING YOU ALL, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!! PLEASE LOOK AT THESE REVIEWS AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, PEOPLE YOU PASS ** THE STREET SAVE YOURSELVES AND ANYONE YOU KNOW FROM THIS STRESS AND CHAOS!

ADT plays high pressure sales and refuses to cancel service
