On 4/12/19 I was contacted by Obserever sales dept.and purchased a mo. subscription! This is 5/2/19 and still no paper!
Purchased charlotte observer monthly subscription from sales call on 4/12/19 no delivery to this date 5/2/19! I have filed 3 separate complaints to customer service so far! they stated on all 3 complaints that they would put a red flag om my account and escalate this and contact regional mgr.as well as delivery mgr. However still no paper! The most horable service I have ever encounterd in my life!I have lived at my address for 17 years and have bought and cancelled many subcriptions of the observer for this very reason!I live in a rural area but still pay the same as anybody else!Service has always been very poor at best! They obviously don't care!I ONLY PURCHASE THE PAPER FOR COUPONS AND CIRCULARS AND THE SPORTS SECTION BECAUSE THE PAPER IS VERY BIASED AND PERTICIPATES IN GROUPTHINK!VERY LEFT LEANING!WOULD PREFER A MORE UNBIASED NEWSPAPER LIKE THE OLD CHARLOTTE OBSERVER USED TO BE!THIS NEWSPAPER IS ON A DOWNWARD SPIRAL AND SOON TO CRASH WITH THIS TYPE OF SERVICE!To this date nobody has had the decency to contact me with an explanation for the poor service I receive! The sale dept. stated that they had corrected these issues wit delivery and content but obviously just a sales ploy!Service is worse than ever!

Desired Outcome

CREDIT FOR NONDELIVERY AND EXCEELENT SERVICE AS PROMISED!

I have not received a Sunday newspaper since Feb 24, 2019. I am prepaid through 7/31.
I have not received a Sunday newspaper since 2/24/19 and prepaid through 7/31. I have called 9 times, sent Facebook messages, etc. They promise to deliver the paper and never do. They promise to have managers call me back and never do. They just refunded 2 months, but will not refund the other 3. Horrible customer service.

Desired Outcome

I would like to continue to have Sunday delivery, but they will not send. I want 3 months refunded.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Apr 30, 2019

We will get the delivery corrected with the distribution company.

DECEPTIVE ANNUAL AGREEMENT OF REDUCED RATE.
In June 2018, I was offered via telephone, a reduced annual charge and paid it. I received a bill stating by subscription for 2019 starts in April - 2 months early. After calling a rep today, I learned the billing changes after my call in June 2018 and my subscription updated but I was not notified.
Today, they agreed to extend my current subscription through June 2019 as this should have been in the first place.
I am due compensation for the billing issue and for my time and inconvenience.

Desired Outcome

Extend my subscription beyond June 2019 to December 2019 as compensation for the deceptive annual agreement in June 2018.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Apr 24, 2019

Account has been extended through 9/29/2019.

I subscribed to the paper with the requirement that the paper be delivered to my mailbox. I was told by sales person this could be done.
I have received one paper in three weeks and not in my mailbox as requested and as promised by the sales person. I have called multiple times to complain about it, 4/10/19, 4/5/19, 4/2/19, 4/1/19, 3/29/19, 3/28/19 and 3/27/19. Some of these dates I called multiple times. It was not until today that someone told me that it cannot be put into the mailbox and that I needed a paper box. I asked if they were going to install one so that I could get the paper and they said no. So I tried to cancel and they gave me the run around. I was told that the earliest they could cancel was April 13th and that it would take 3-5 business days to get my refund. It only took them one day to take the money out of my account.

Desired Outcome

I want better informed employees so other people do not have to go through the stress.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Apr 15, 2019

Legally we are not allowed to deliver in a mailbox per the United States Postal Service. We have notified our sales vendor that this is not allowed and should not be promised to customers. Unfortunately we no longer provide delivery boxes, but we can deliver to them if you have one available. They can be obtained from a hardware/home improvement store. We have alerted our call center that they should honor your request to stop delivery per your request and honor your refund request.

I signed up for the Charlotte Observer and never received a paper. I only received 50% of my refund although I NEVER received the product.
I signed up for the Charlotte Observer at my local WalMart on March 15, 2019. I was told it was a special promotion and I would receive the paper for 30 days for $15.00 and was given come coupons to enhance my shopping experience.

1. 90% of the coupons I received were Expired..I let that pass.

2. I have not received ONE newspaper from the Charlotte Observer.

3. I called on March 26th to get a refund and was told they did acknowledge that I never received the paper and that I would have a in a couple of days. That didn't happen.

4. I called back on April 1st and was told I would receive a partial refund. When I asked why the representative said she didn't know and would put in a request for the full refund. Needless to day I haven't heard from anyone.

Do not fall the this promotion. It's ashame that I have to conitnue to use Revdex.com to solve SIMPLE customer service problems because businesses have no INTEGRITY. Beware of this.

Desired Outcome

I want the rest of my money!!

The Charlotte Observer Response • Apr 11, 2019

Charlotte Observer started collection process for $45.00 for newspaper subscription. I never ordered the paper for the period covered.
Charlotte Observer sent an invoice for services that were never ordered by me. Charlotte Observer called me several times to renew the paper and I kept repeating I don't want the paper. I received a letter from a collection agency (A.R.M. Solutions) few days ago. This practice is unethical and Charlotte Observer needs to stop the collection process.

Desired Outcome

STOP THE COLLECTION PROCESS.

Unauthorized Charges to Acount
I had previously ordered the newspaper delivery from the Chalotte Observer. After three different occasions of not receiving the newspaper I paid for I requested my order to be cancelled and my funds to be returned. This process took over a month to receive my funds back. I then notice a charge on my account on March 12 for the Charlotte Observer and called them right away to find out why my account was charged. I was told that there records show I requested the Sunday Newpaper. I informed them I did not request their newpaper and that the charge made to my account on March 12th was not authorized. I requested they return my funds right away. I was told they would submit to their finance dept and it would take 7-10 business days to process my refund. I contacted customer service again on 4/3/19 and advised them I still have not received my refund. I would like my refund due to me and all of my credit card information deleted from their system. The charge for a product (even unauthorized charges) that they do not deliver.

Desired Outcome

A refund of $12.87 unauthorized charges and removal of my credit card information from their systems.

Thank you for making us aware. Our records show a refund was processed on 4/11. Please confirm receipt with 24-48 hours.

I was billed too frequently, so I cancelled my subscription. I never received another bill, until I received a collections notice.
I was sent a renewal notice in February 2018, so I paid for 26 weeks of newspapers on 2/4/2018. Then I received another renewal notice, and mistakenly paid for another 26 weeks of newspapers on 4/16/2018. I received a renewal notice in September 2018, which I didn't pay, because I should've been paid up until at least January 2019. I then received another renewal notice in October 2018. By this time I was getting frustrated with all of the renewal notices I was getting, so we called and cancelled and said we wanted our subscription to end when we had used up all that we had paid for. Then in March 2019, we received a collections notice from A.R.M. for $35.14. We called The Charlotte Observer, and of course they had no record of us calling to cancel our subscription. We never received any bill previously for the $35.14, so we had no idea that we even owed any money. As far as we knew, our subscription had been cancelled.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund for the $35.14 that I paid to A.R.M. I would also like this to be removed from my credit, and a letter stating that it was reported in error.

They state that they sent a renewal notice and unwilling to work with us.They also made non stop harassing phone calls and sent us to collections.
We purchased a promotional product via a third party to have the Sunday paper delivered. It first of all was a hassle to have them deliver the paper to our address on time. we had to call them about once a week for them to finally start delivering the paper on time. Finally when we did get the paper they state that they are not required for them to notify us of renewal and would automatically renew unless we called. We never agreed to the renewal and did not receive a notice of cancellation. Plus as mentioned we purchased the promotional product through a third party as we only wanted the paper for a year. We called and they stated that they did send us a notice yet we never knew about such practices. We then are receiving harassing phone calls everyday so they can collect the money that we allegedly owe. We finally receive a notice of collections from a debt collection agency. Once again I called to reason with them and they would not work with me about the alleged money that we owe them. The Charlotte Observer is not customer service geared company and are only worried on how to swindle customers and make their money at all costs. We currently are owing $25.73 for this awful service and if not they are threatening us with a debt collector. We would have never even purchased this promotion if we knew that we would have to go through all this hassle and snake of a company. Plus they are going too far with the debt collection agency, this is unspeakable. I will pay the $25.73 to avoid my credit or my wife's credit from taking a hit from these snakes.

Desired Outcome

As stated I am going to pay the $25.73 that The Charlotte Observer is requesting, for the sole sake of protecting my credit. However, I would like for the company to refund me my money due to the false claims that they are stating. Plus of the awful customer service and unwilling to work with customers.

I subscribed to the newspaper and never received my paper for 8 weeks, since I moved.
I moved Jan 24th of this year. My newspaper subscription was supposed to continue at my new address per my phone conversation with customer services at the Charlotte Observer. For 8 weeks I have reported not getting the newspaper. Every week I am told they will deliver the newspaper to me on Sunday to which I subscribe. I even cancelled my subscription but they called me and offered me a gift card and my newspaper delivered on time every Sunday. I still have not received one newspaper since I lived at this address from the Charlotte Observer.

Desired Outcome

The Sunday Charlotte Observer delivered to my door as I subscribed and paid for.
