I just had something happen to me while trying to apply online for month interest free credit for an Apple Store purchaseI put in an on-line order for a refurbished Mac Pro and proceeded to checkout where I was given the opportunity to apply for interest free Barclays credit online The process seemed simple enough until I got to the question where they asked if I ever had owned one of four cars in the past Creepy to know they already had such detailed information up on your past (25+ years ago) purchases!!!! Did I ever have a Reliant? Well, of course I owned a Reliant years agoMaybe it was years, but I was not sure Had the opportunity to say NO to all cars listed but knew I had a Reliant ONCE LONG AGO so I figured that was the correct answer Did not know which answer to giveThen there were more car ownership questions asked subsequent and two of them also had questionable answers similar to the first one Submitted application and immediately got a pmessage from them that there was some problem with my application and I could either call them or wait days for approval (or not) I called and they referred me to "customer resolution", I believe it was There they told me I had not put down the correct phone number (so, how did they call me??) and wanted to verify that and a few of the car questions which I had apparently answered incorrectly!!! They then asked for DOB and last of SS# and since I did not want to give it they told me I could call back and proceed that way I agreed, so I did it Seemed to fix what ever problem there was and told me I would hear in a few minutes Did not get anything for about minutes so I tried to re-apply online Pop up told me that an application had already been submitted, but no information provided on how I would hear of the outcome So, sure as hell, another call came in and at that point, checking up on meAfter I balked a bit, the guy told me to hold on; that I did not have any idea why he was calling I then let him speak and explainThis time they said my SS# was wrong along with some other info about the phone number again!!!!! Whether or not that was true, I did not want to go through all that St again being grilled like I was a criminal so I told them to cancel both applications For added luck I told him I was glad that the conversation was being recorded so that Barclays could know how ridiculous they are with their online questions and procedures Side line: as I read the other complaints, I noticed that most had difficulty getting in touch with any of the 'higher ups" to discuss their issues further So (LOL!!) I am now probably on a fraud watch list because of this occurrence!! Never again will I use BarclaysWill also let everyone I know to be wary of their online practices and procedures I will pay as much cash as I can up front for my item and put the rest on a credit card and pay it all off in a few months Horrible international big business and after reading the other negative reviews I know my experiences are right in there with everyone else's
