I am a current tenant in Minnesota with MS Renewal, and can not give a positive experience I've had with them yet. I have lived in my rental house for about 1.5 years, and upon moving in, it was partially remodeled. I say partially because everything was done quick and half-heartedly. So many quick cheap 'fixes' throughout the house, after a year of living here things have started slowly falling apart and fading, showing the quality of work and product.
Service requests are not completed in a timely manner whatsoever as well. We have had flooding in the basement coming in from the outside during rainfall (not just leaking, flooding) and black mold covering a wall, god knows what's also behind the sheetrock. Lost a ton of personal property, valuables, but also memorabilia due to this consistent problem. This is apparently low priority to them seeing as we discovered it a month and a half ago, and reported it right away. Come to find out, its been a problem and has been covered up instead of fixing the source of the problem. Our family is getting sick, so we resorted to calling the city inspector in to document and contact MS Renewal directly, but we have not been contacted yet to find a solution. (About a week and a half)
I would not recommend this company to anyone seeing as they are a horrible company and cannot get anything done correctly, or at all. I picture them as a company that went out and bought up a ton of properties during the housing market spike and inflated rental prices for poor quality to make a huge profit, corporate greed at its finest.
-Sincerely,
A Maintenance Engineer who can see the short cuts and price gouges.
I do not have a property with Main Street Renewal, however I was approved for one after submitting my application only to find out another applicant was approved. They advised me that my application would be good for 30 days but every time I tried to contact someone (called, emailed, left voice messages etc.) to have my application transferred over to another property I was interested in no one was available, no response or anything then once I did receive a response it was to say that the property that I was interested in was already leased when I reached out to them as soon as a rental property was available, I didn't understand how it could be leased so fast. I felt like I was just used for an application fee. They were no longer concerned with helping us find a property in the area we were looking for even though we were already approved. I submitted an application with the Dallas office, so if you are interested in leasing a property make sure you are first in line even though they accept 5 application or more at one time, and first applicant approved gets the home and you are left with nothing with no help. Horrible, horrible experience!
After review and deliberation of the residents complaint, we have scheduled a date and time to go over the resident's concerns in detail to be sure that everything is fully understood. At this time there are no outstanding concerns at this property.
Main Street Renewal-A review of the process was completed on this applicant and determined that all Best Practices were followed in this situation. Below is an outline of events. The application was submitted 10/7/14. 10/8/14: Mr. [redacted] was screened using our Tenant...
Screening through RealPage. This fee associated with the $40 application is for the RealPage screening. The screening came back approved but once screening is complete and approved, additional documentation is required for further verification, such as Verification of Rental and Verification of Income. At that point we reach out to former landlords and employers. Just prior to Mr. [redacted]’s application, there was another applicant who had been in process but not fully vetted and approved until shortly after Mr. [redacted] had applied. It is a first-come basis. The branch representative did offer to move the application fee to another property but he was not interested. As part of our application process, we outline the following to ensure the applicant is aware of the non-refundable application fee. Non-refundable Application Fee
Application Fee $40.00 per adult
I acknowledge that the Landlord will not process my application without receipt of the non-refundable application fee. The Landlord does not guarantee the availability of the desired property, and the application fee will not be returned if the property is no longer available. Current availability can be confirmed by phone.
Revdex.com: I did receive a call from the company. The sent someone to fix some stuff but all that was fixed was...
the door bell that was replaced. Fan could have been fixed be replacing one light fixture on the fan and placing a new one but I was told they will replace the fan. I’m okay with that I want it fixed as soon as possible no lighting in the living room right now since we moved in. I fixed the sliding door but that only fixed the door bell that does not take 4 hours. All it was was replacing it with a wireless one. Hopefully they fix this ASAP.. the tech said he was going to get someone else to do it because he was scared of heights... so again another waiting period.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

They are horrible to rent from. Never return calls or fix issues and they keep security deposit at the end of the lease period even if you leave the home immaculate.

Our Resident Support team has contacted the Resident and communicated a resolution in regards to the disputed charges, a refund will be issued and tracking information has been provided to the Resident.
Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Main Street Renewal is attempting to charge for damages that occurred after we left the premises in good condition. The unit was cleaned prior to move out but charges remain for cleaning. 30 day move out notice was provided but not recognized.

This is the worst rental company I have ever used. This is my first and last time using them, I am trying to get out ot my lease since the house at [redacted] in GA, is not what Garneshea H[redacted] confirmed. First off they never showed up for the walk thru. They have a lock box on the door that many potential renters could see. When we paid the fee and the deposit it took us almost 2weeks for them to draft up a lease. I was told to do a walk through. At first everything looks genuine like they did something. The have new refridgerator, Stove and dishwasher. When we turned the water and the electricity, At first there was no water out of the taps and the electricity didnt come on, she told us someone will go and turn it on. She claims..if we dont move in by our move in date someone else would get the rental. Before we moved in we told about the leaks and the driveway that needs to be paved. She told us the driveway would be paved on 3/27/15...it is now 3/31/15 and no one have come to even look at the property.
This real estate is a sham it is shameful to say I have to even email the CFO/CEO to get an email response to me.
What ever you all do never rent from these criminals.
[redacted] ripoffs.
I have reached out to Ms. [redacted] and will work with her directly to resolve the situation.

Hi Sherri, I still have had no resolution or contact from this business. I've reached out to them again and was finally able to get a customer service rep on the phone but he said he had no information to give me. Please reopen complaint #[redacted]. Thank you!!! [redacted]

Hello,
Please accept my apologies for the late response. I have spoken with Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] regarding the situation. They assure me that Mr. [redacted] was told repeatedly that, before he applied online,...
that his voucher needed to be provided and adequate to cover the rent. Ms. [redacted] tried repeatedly to dissuade Mr. [redacted] from applying at that time because without confirmation of the amount of housing assistance, the screening program would likely decline. Mr. [redacted] was also advised that once he did receive his updated voucher he could be re-screened for no additional fees.
When Mr. [redacted] applied online, he agreed to the terms, acknowledging the applicant fee is non-refundable and that there is no guarantee of acceptance or availability.
Main Street Renewal is a huge proponent of Section 8 tenants which is why we advertise on GoSection 8 in all eight states we operate in and abide by all Fair Housing guidelines.
We are very disappointed that Mr. [redacted] feels discriminated against. He was not, and it certainly was not our intention, to make him feel that way. Our offer for him to reapply when he can qualify, without paying another application fee, remains open.
Please let me know if any further information is required to close out this claim. Thank you for the follow up.
Thank you,

Thank you Revdex.com for helping me I' am satisfy with the settlement Thank You [redacted]
I have dealt with Main Street Renewal since May 2015 and my experience has been nothing but trouble. The Atlanta office is totally non-responsive and they stopped dealing with me literally the day after I gave them my security deposit and first months rent. Upon attempted move in, the house was absolutely dirty and there was no running water. I had to contact the corporate office to get a maintenance person out and he ended up replacing the entire piping in the garage. I was unable to move in for 4 days and when I asked MSR for a refund on my rent, they never returned my call. I've contacted them over a dozen times through email and phone documenting the experience and they have not yet - in December 2015 - addressed my concerns. They do not care about their tenants and only want their money.
Good Afternoon Mr. [redacted],I apologize for the delay. I am reviewing the information and will be getting back to you with a response.Thank you,[redacted]###-###-####
