Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Reviews (%countItem)

On July 21, 2018 I hired Lemon Squad to inspect a 2002 Dodge Viper. Because the car is consider an Exotic you pay a premium fee, in which I had no problem doing. On July 24th 2018
they sent an Inspector out to inspect the vehicle throughly and make a detailed report. this report is supposed to show all damage to the vehicle, issues with the motor, any computer codes, etc. in their advertisement they claim this will help you negotiate a better deal.
When I received my inspection the report said the car checked out fine, no motor issues, no computer codes, the car drove and shifted smoothly, needed tires, the rims had some curb rash, some small scratches in the paint that couldn't be caught on photograph, and the pointed out a small chip on the front bumper that had been repaired with touch up paint.
Based on this report, I purchased the car and had it shipped to California. The owner of the car I purchased it from signed the shipping documents, watch it get loaded, watched them put vehicles car cover put on it and 6 days later the car arrived here in an enclosed trailer ( once again a premium expense) with no additional mileage(so the car was never taken out of the trailer.
When the car arrive it was the only vehicle in the trailer. The driver took the cover off the car and proceeded to back it out and pull it in the driveway where I got to see and inspect my new to me car for the first time. I walked around the car and was immediately disappointed there was only one panel on the car that didn't have some sort of damage on it. I immediately blamed he delivery company and they showed me the signed documentation by the owner of all the damaged areas, and they all matched. I proceeded to get in the car and pull it in the garage.
Once the car was in the garage I went to get out of the car and the Drivers side door handle didn't work!
I attempted to contact the Lemon Squad to discuss the issue. I told them that their report was false, that there wasn't a panel on the car without damage and why wasn't the the door handle mentioned. In fact how could he get out of the car if he took it on a test drive? this was a major miss! I was then told I had to file a complaint to an email address. I sent it to the address they provided and it got kicked back, they gave me 3 fake address' before I got one that actually worked.
I the response I received was its been 14 days and its too late now. Evidently you have 14 days from time of inspection to file a complaint. How can you possibly get an inspection, make the deal, orange for pick up, and get it across country in 14 days? ANSWER: YOU CAN"T! by law a driver can only drive 8 hrs per day. Thats 6 of your 14days and thats if the driver doesn't make any stops.
To Summarize, to get the car into the shape that Lemon Squad claimed it to be in is costing me $6832.56 in body and paint, $170 for a door handle and $300 to inspect and install it. GRAND TOTAL of $7302.56 on Items they missed. I would never use them again. I could have flown out 10 times to inspect this car myself for that loss.

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response • Oct 10, 2018

We looked at this vehicle back in July. Almost 3 months ago. Our 14 day policy is stated in the terms and conditions that you clicked that you READ and AGREED to when you placed your order. I remember speaking with you about the vehicle when you called asking about the door handle. The door handle wasn't broken when we were there with it. If it had been, there is no way the inspector would've been able to get the door open to get in and out of the vehicle. I think what happened here is that some damage was done to the vehicle after shipping. It is very common. I went over the pictures in the report with you over the phone when we were talking about it. We never gave you a false email address to send your complaints to. You must've made a typo when typing it in. The email address is [email protected]. We are not able to help you when it has been longer than 14 days. In this instance, it has been almost 3 months. I'm sorry that you are having issues with your vehicle. This is something that you will need to take up with either your seller or your shipping company. We wish you luck with your vehicle.

This is to respond to the response from Lemon Squad
Yes we did Talk on the phone immediately after I received the car and I did indeed take your advice and contacted the Seller.
I asked him about the broken door handle and he said,"That handle has been broken since we bought the car." Please explain how it had been broken for years and all of a sudden the day your inspector shows up it miraculously worked while he inspected and then stopped again. Also, I have a written and signed document verifying that and all the damage to the body of the car.
This makes me not only question the validity of your inspection, it also makes me question the quality of your inspectors.
As for the email address I called 3 times and each time I was provided a completely different email, and thats some how my fault. In fact you didn't even respond to my last email.
I find it very interesting that in your entire response you take zero responsibility for anything. Emails, Missing items on the inspection and I'm sure your lack of responses somebody else responsibility.
I understand that no company is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Its how those mistakes are handled that will tell you the integrity of a company. You hiding between a hidden disclaimer your terms and conditions and some how make this okay in your mind. Once again you've shown the integrity( or lack of) of your company.

Please listen to me....I had a very bad experience with Lemon squad. I purchased a 1972 vehicle after I received the report from Lemon squad. The engine went bad the FIRST DAY I drove the car. My mechanic checked and said the engine oil had metal flakes in it - which is a sign something is wrong with the engine and needs to be replaced. Lemon squad made no mention of the bad oil in my report and said the car was in "fair running and driving condition..."
To make matters worse, when I let them know about my disappointment I got the answer that "we longer do oil analysis..." and "it's a 50 year old car, I wouldn't have bought it"
I now have to pay +$5,000 for a new engine because I BOUGHT A LEMON. Please contact me if you want more details.
I would HIGHLY recommend using a local car inspector, not Lemon squad.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your 1972 vehicle. I have looked over the report and the report does show that we found issues with a top end tapping and an oil leak. We do not do an engine oil analysis. That isn't a service that we offer. That being said, the report does show that this is a vehicle that has lots of issues. This is not a show car or a car with out issues by any means. You should talk to your seller about any issues you are encountering with regards to the motor. We wish you luck with your vehicle.

Inspection of 1965 Plymouth Barracuda, owned by ***, Kansas City, MO. I am ***--I made the arrangements for the inspection, paid in full via American Express.

When I received the report, I was happy to see a vehicle with some very minor cosmetic issues, but no mechanical issues to speak of and forwarded the purchase price to the seller. When the car was received, I took it to my own mechanic and inside of a 1/2 hour, he blew the report from the Lemon Squad right out of the water, as fraudulent at best. "Allen", inspector #***, provided a glowing report, which my mechanic took apart piece by piece. Here is a partial list of the items either missed completely or ignored:

Water pump leaks profusely, must be replaced//Fan clutch is completely worn out, must be replaced//carburetor is the wrong one for the vehicle, must be replaced//steering gear box is completely worn out--IF inspector actually drove car (which I doubt), he would have known from the loose action of the steering wheel that the gear box was shot//pittman arm completely worn out//front U-joint on drive shaft worn out and throwing oil//rear ends gears worn out and must be rebuilt//instrument panel has 2 gauges that do not work and, as a new panel is not available, must be sent out of state for repair//the A/C hoses leak, quite noticeably//front seats are considerably more worn than noted and upholstery and under-cushions must be replaced--this is NOT "light wear" as noted--thrashed is closer.

While the cosmetic issues, as listed, were acceptable, the ones he missed were not. The noise from the rear end while driving, even at low speed, tells me the inspector did NOT drive the car. Had this inspection been done correctly and completely, I would not have purchased this vehicle. I am now out $12K+ with the prospect of putting another $5K, minimum, just to make it safe to drive, which it is NOT right now.

We read over your complaint and we sympathize with your concerns, but we don't agree with your review of our service or how our inspector did his job. We made this clear in the report that this was a driver quality vehicle and by no means a show car or anything special. Our inspector went over all your concerns that you had after the inspection and neither he, nor us, agreed with your assessment of our inspection. Here are some of the highlights from our inspector's notes in regards to answering your concerns: "The water pump was not leaking, the owner had the vehicle on a hoist for me to take clear pics of the underside of the vehicle. I believe there were clear pics of the engine especially the front cover and water pump areas. The carb was not inspected for being factory or replacement, the car drove and the carb did not leak." As stated on the website, we do not check to see if the carb is original or a replacement. "The front ujoint was not covered in fluid. There was a note in my report about wheel bearing noise felt and heard during the test drive. With this noise vibrating and reverberating through the car, it made it difficult to determine where it was coming from. That is why I said that it needs further diagnosis." We believe that our inspector did a good job. When dealing with an older vehicle, especially a vehicle from 1965, you need to have realistic expectations. I'm sorry that you aren't satisfied. We wish you luck with the vehicle.

I will not speak to the quality of their reviews, as I never received one. I ordered a review based on an out-of-state dealer recommendation before purchasing one of their cars. 3 hours after ordering a lemon squad review, the dealer sold the car out from under me. I attempted to close my Lemon Squad order and get a refund ($180 plus with add-ons). Nope. Despite doing nothing, they refuse to refund even $1. Find a company with heart & ethics, this company is lacking.

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response • Oct 04, 2018

When you place your order with us, as you did through our website, you have to click that you have READ and AGREED to the terms and conditions before you can make payment. Item number 7 shows our cancelation policy, which is that all sales are final. It should not come as a surprise to you that we don't offer refunds. If we do not look at the vehicle you ordered the inspection on, your order is put on hold and it is used as a credit that will never expire, and it can be used towards another inspection, anywhere in the US. This is also in our FAQs. In this instance, your vehicle sold before we could do the inspection. Even though we didn't do the inspection itself, we still have time into your order. I'm sorry that you didn't secure the vehicle with the dealership. It is up to you to have them hold the vehicle until we can get there to do the inspection. Your order is still on hold and when you find the next vehicle, you can give us a call and we will take the new info and get it over to the new inspector. We wish you luck on your search.

The inspector gave a very good detail inspection with 118 photos. I appreciate this service that I could not do myself being 500 miles away.

Had no idea such organization exists... So grateful for your expertise! I will gladly use this company again!

THX a lot ! When I'm not in the US I still have to chance from Germany to buy a good/fair car . So here I need guys like you !! Very good Service and I'm happy that I did it ,because they saved me a lot of Money ! Very good report and Pictures ! Everytime again ...

Fast and good. Saved me from buying a lemon.

Lemon squad saved me so many headaches and oodles of unexpected mechanical expenses. The money I spent with Lemon Squad was nothing compared to the amount I would have had to spend to get the vehicle in acceptable condition. Thanks to Lemn Squad for saving me SO MUCH MONEY....

I ordered the inspection on line. Got emails updating when inspection to take place. Sent another email saying inspection delayed an entire day because salesman at dealership was off. No contact to me as their customer to help resolve issue that day. Called to complain and manager talked over me to the point I had to yell over her!! Then stated she was manager and was deleting my account for their poor customer service!!! Be warned! They don’t work for you!!! You’re just money!

Lemon Squad Auto Inspections Response • Jul 27, 2018

We did contact you by sending you an email to let you know that your inspection was delayed because your salesperson was off for the day. You called up and yelled at us about it and when we tried to explain to you how we work, you just talked over us, then accused us of talking over you and you were just plain mean. Your report was ready to view shortly after you called. Your ability to order inspections with us has been deactivated.

Previously I gave this company a glowing review, that was based on the inspection I had done on a 2010 Lincoln in Georgia.
Unfortunately the inspection I had preformed in Idaho was no where near as detailed. When I complained the owner did refund a portion of my money, only a portion and then deactivated my account.
As other negative reviews have indicated he referenced the fine print in the contract and that the "inspector" did nothing wrong. Well I can agree with that, he did nothing wrong because basically he did nothing, in comparison to the guy in Georgia who inspected the car for me though this company. That's the only reason Lemon Squad is getting a 3 star review is that the guy in Georgia did a great job. Evidently there are no set standards for what their inspectors do or report. Company's usually have a set standards of what services they preform, not a list of loopholes hidden in their fine print.

This is the best idea and service for buying a used car EVER!
Ive been looking for a 2011 Lincoln Town Car from places all over the United States.
Its amazing what the dealers present the cars to be vs what they actually are.
You have to be nuts not to have the Lemon Squad go out and check a car out before you buy it. They have saved me from purchasing the wrong car twice so far. Thank You Lemon Squad!

I have utilized this company twice in the last 90 days and have to speak very highly of their operation. Courteous, efficient, and very professional experience. I would recommend anyone in the market to purchase a big ticket item, particularly a vehicle in any shape of form to utilize this company and its services. Both times I've used them I have received top notch help and service. I will be using them again soon to find my dream automobile.

I relied on your expertise of hiring a professional person to inspect an out of state vehicle. From the actual report : The car arrived June 1 but was not driveable. As soon as I started it up the engine stalled, the check engine light came on, the SMT warning light came on. I immediately took the car to a nearby garage. They had it 9 days but never got the opportunity to look at it. So. I take it to the Toyota dealership. They hook up the scanner and found 3 codes P1646 --> Transmission control ECU malfunction
P0860 --> Gear shift module communications circuit
P0191 —>Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
The shift actuator was leaking and needed to be replaced -Cost: 4835.00
The inspection was completed May 24th or 25th, but Because we were buying several states away and the car had to be shipped, we didn’t receive the car until June 1st. The 1st garage had the car until June 14th and never looked at it so we didn’t know what was even wrong until the Toyota dealership looked at it on the 14th. We contacted Lemon Squad about the issues and received this response :
No one asked LS to fix it- we simply want a refund.

Response received via Revdex.com Customer Review (customer submitted both complaint *andreview -- taking business response provided in review and transferring it over to consumer complaint):

I’m sorry you are having an issue with your vehicle. Our inspector Stanley is an ASE certified Master tech who has been with us for many years. He is very competent and would have caught any issues with the vehicle had they happened while he was with the vehicle. As you can see in picture 83, the vehicle is running and this picture of the dash shows no check engine lights or any other warning lights on. The inspector also hooked up his computer and checked for codes, there were none, as stared in your report. The vehicle drove with no issues during our time with it. We did this inspection on May 24. It is now June 22. Many things can change with a vehicle in a month's time. As you stated in your own words, the vehicle drove beautifully when you first drove it. It did for us as well. We do our best with these inspections and we do a great job, but we have no crystal ball to see things that can fail without warning. This is an issue you need to take up with your seller. We are not an extended warranty company and we do not fix peoples cars. We are a company that helps people reduce their risk in buying a used vehicle. We keep people from buying bad cars every day. We also help people make good decisions on buying good cars every day. Remember, used cars can fail without warning. This is a vehicle that is 13 years old. We cannot control that and cannot see failures before they happen. We wish you luck.

I am rejecting this response because:
That car has not been driven since the inspection. It been in the shop from almost the moment I received it & I have documentation to prove it

Most of these positive reviews are FAKE they are posted in bunches on consecutive dates notice hardly any mention what type of car was inspected. This company is a SCAM

LemonSquad is a pleasure to deal with and having them inspect a car for me was some of the best money I've spent! I ordered an inspection late on a Wednesday and by Friday morning, I had a wonderfully detailed report with pics, all issues identified and an appraised value that saved me at least $4k on a car I was considering. I shopped around for a company to look at several classics I was considering. They're prices are better and an absolutr value. They will be my go-to as I continue my search for one of several classic cars.

This is my second time I used lemon squard, and I can not say enough great things about them, being from NYC very very hard took get someone to look check out a car for you and can trust them ,the people from lemon squared are so Sufficient and Completely thorough I hope took use them again and again

I used Lemon Squad for a pre-purchase inspection on a 2014 BMW 535i about 200 miles away from my home. The inspection was completed in a timely manner and all my specific requests were honored. All the pics were representative of the vehicle and the notes were helpful in my decision making. Great value and Andy even gave me a courtesy call after the inspection to go over some things with me and give me some advice on items to pay attention to. Would recommend them to anyone I know and certainly use them again for a pre-purchase inspection.

A prospective purchaser of my motor home asked me to arrange for an inspection and suggested that I contact Lemon Squad. Since I had no experience with Lemon Squad I approached this with some trepidation. The process turned out to be very professional from the initial contact with Regan to the inspection done by Chris. Chris spent an hour and a half documenting his inspection with photos and provided a well written report that I believe fairly represented my coach. It could probably have been done with 100 fewer photos, 320 seems like a lot. He was well prepared and had done significant research to be sure that safety recalls had been completed, checked areas where neglectful maintenance could show up, etc. If I were to buy or sell a vehicle in the future, I would use Lemon Squad and highly recommend their services.

Lemon squad did a great job looking at a car for out of state buyer. Coming from MN and tried to buy a car in Denver, Colorado, I put a request online the night before but they were able to get it inspected the next day. I bought a ticket at that point so I needed them to give some feedback quick. The owner of company personally took care of me after the inspection was done to give accurate inspection report and evaluation. Inspector at Denver was good! Great job handling urgent request and will do business again.
