I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Uac & Carhop removed $1000 from what I owed & were able to find a vehicle that fit my needs. My payments aren't much higher & they are fixing what was wrong with it when I first got it. I am very satisfied with the resolution of this complaint.                                   ... Thank You,                                      ... [redacted]

"RE: Mr.[redacted]

Thank you for forwarding the complaint from Mr.[redacted]. Although it is
unfortunate when any of our customers has...

mechanical issues, unforeseen problems do
sometimes occur with used vehicles. Mr. [redacted] purchased his vehicle on April 17, 2015 which
included both a three day Satisfaction Guarantee and an 18 month / 18,000 mile limited
warranty, which covers major internal engine and internal transmission components, as well as
the drive train. The vehicle had a clean and clear Experian Auto Check prior to its sale.
On April 22, 2015 Mr. [redacted] notified CarHop to report that his vehicle was leaking coolant. A
CarHop salesperson, [redacted] informed Mr. [redacted] to take the vehicle to Save n Autos repair
facility as soon as possible and that CarHop would pay for the diagnosis. Unfortunately, Mr.
[redacted] failed to do so and kept driving the vehicle.
On May 13, 2015 Mr. [redacted] reported to CarHop that his vehicle had broken down two hours
away near Glenwood, IA. The CarHop manager, [redacted] worked diligently to find a repair shop
in the Glenwood area that would be able to check out the vehicle that day. Unfortunately, Mr.
[redacted] refused to pay to have the vehicle towed to the repair shop.
To best assist Mr. [redacted] contacted his finance company, Universal Acceptance
Corporation (UAC). While under no obligation to do so and solely as a good will gesture, UAC
has agreed to issue Mr. [redacted] a Satisfaction of Debt (SOD) which will relieve him of any
further debt owed upon return of the vehicle. In addition, CarHop paid for the tow cost back to
the CarHop location. Mr. [redacted] has yet to sign the SOD. CarHop has attempted many times to
contact Mr. [redacted] to sign the SOD document, but yet has not received a return call. I encourage
Mr. [redacted] to contact [redacted] at [redacted].
Please contact me if I may be of further assistance. Thank You.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (4200, 12, 2015/11/25) */
Received subsequent / follow-up response from consumer, in form of 'new' complaint opened 11/23/15.
(Deleting that 'new' complaint; entering new info as addition to original complaint.)
Text of 'new' complaint reads as follows:
"Tuesday November 17th I returned the minivan and the keys to the Everett Carhop lot. The salesman was really rude when I came inside to return the keys. First he tried to get me to have the van refinanced to "make it more affordable" Wasn't it supposed to be affordable the first time? I explained that $350 a month for a car payment wasn't affordable on $0.50 over minimum wage. This van has had problems since day one. The transmission was going out on the way to the carlot! The salesman's tone changed as soon as I said the van had issues. He told me "go in there and give the keys to that guy." So I returned the keys to the UAC guy. Now I woke up this morning and my bank account is $175 negative and their is a $35 overdraft fee on my account now. I want my loan cancelled and want nothing else to do with Carhop. Carhop is a crooked carlot that will take advantage of anyone. No one detailed the minivan before we took it home and no one looked it over to make sure it was a mechanically sound vehicle for a family with small children to ride in. We had to drive to Seattle and pick the van up ourselves the Carhop salesman didn't go with us. He sent us to Seattle in a Tahoe that had no title to exchange for the minivan. Carhop has been one headache after another and I'm already looking for an attorney
Product_Or_Service: overdraft in my account
DESIRED RESOLUTION:
I want the overdraft fee reimbursed to my account and the direct deposit and loan cancelled and then to never hear from Carhop again"
Final Business Response /* (4000, 14, 2015/11/25) */
Received response from CarHop to 'new' issues presented in complaint:
"CarHop offered to fix (Ms [redacted]'s) vehicle in September 2015; she told me she was taking it to a repair shop on September 24. We refunded them for non-covered tires, as a courtesy. Back in September I left her many voice messages asking her when she was taking to the shop. She never did, nor did she return any of my calls. In addition, she never called CarHop or UAC to report any other mechanical issues. On November 17, 2015 Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] voluntarily returned the vehicle to the CarHop sales location. They were fully explained the repercussions of a voluntary repossession and they stated they do not care about their credit score. Their automatic payments are still coming out because they have not requested that their AP be stopped. They have to call UAC to stop AP or they will continue to come out. UAC is not able to release them from their contract. They will receive a Notice of Sale letter, explaining that if they want to get current on payments and retrieve the vehicle they can work with UAC. Otherwise, once the vehicle is sold at auction, that amount will be deducted from their balance and they are responsible for the remaining balance."

Mr. [redacted] was informed atthe time of sale that when his contract balance is 38% of original amount of the contract he maybe eligible for a trade. I am rejecting this response because: Car hop and UAC have been doing this to desperate people for way to long. I have 3 close people to me that have had almost identical experiences. Not even a hour after we left the lot the doors wouldn't open with a key and we had to pay for a lock smith. With in a week every dash light was on and the vehicle was viciously wobbling down the road. The vehicle was returned with front end damage because of the condition of the vehicle made us crash. Even the "authorized mechanic" said it was bad and the car was dangerous. These attempts to QUEITLY resolve this issue is only temporary. I don't want to see more people fall victim to places like this. So I will have every tip line to every broadcast station in my recently sent list very soon. What ever it takes to get the word out and make people aware.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2015/08/24) */
Received consumer response after close of case; re-opening and sending back on to CarHop for follow-up:
"Hi again. From the last week of July through the first week of August I finally received help that I thought was fair from car hop, but only because I have had gone through the lengths of reaching out to the Revdex.com. I thought, if this was a semi reputable, ethical, responsible company, they would figure out something to make the problem with me right. They have repaired 3-5 major issues with the vehicle at no expense to me. They've lowered the bi monthly payment for me too 250$ for 8 weeks instead of 430$ ( this is will affect the interest for me as I continue with this loan), so it's kind of a solution, but not a realistic one.
Even though they had attempted to right their wrongs, problems till occurred. After everything was "fixed", I drove the vehicle, for a week, or so , to ensure it's safety. Unfortunately for me, and as I already expected, a continuance of issues did occur. I was still hearing strange noises from the same side of the vehicle that was part of the original complaint. I also had put in a bottle and a half of a bottle of power steering fluid (stop leak) within a weeks span. Feeling more and more unsafe, I planned on taking the vehicle in the next day.On the same day of me feeling extremely unsafe August 11th, the ABS light came on, so I took the vehicle in the following day August 12th to repair shop. I received a full list of problems still prevalent to the vehicle. Related to the noises was this hook thing that kept latching to the steering column, which could have resulted in an accident, or my death. The mechanic thankfully took that off with no charge. In addition, there is still a noise problem as with the vehicle. That solution is with the rear stabilizer links, which was related to the struts and left tire rod that was supposed to fix the noises (please forgive the naming mistakes). I was told from Julie (07-29-2015) that "...If it's something that's related soon to that as a issue, then we can look at to what some other options are...". Thus, the rear stabilizer links should be included for repair. This would be one of the solutions to being safe in the vehicle.
However I found out soon that the rear stabilizer links and other things weren't covered. Upon taking the vehicle and waiting a day to see what happened I finally get a call from Gerard August 13th, 2015. I asked Gerard "...have you had the opportunity to speak with one of them about what your speaking with me about?" Gerard replied "I have yes, yes. Guy is his name. I then continued " so he basically told you all this and this is why your calling?" Quickly he muttered "yes...". In essence, because this was not covered, previously during the 6 months of injustice and me paying for everything, Guy told Gerard none of this is covered and told the mechanic to tell me, which is very unprofessional. I have had no call from Julie, or Guy. The representatives of the company confirming this. Julie who gave me her word in what she would do to assist me and dishonored it. These actions show poor character. How these type of actions permeate through this company, and effects their brand that has such a horrific rapport, but more importantly why I am fed up with Car Hop as a whole. I want the loan to be extinguished from me, and for them to take the vehicle. I haven't been in the wrong once during this partnership. I refused to be wronged any longer. I basically bought the vehicle "as is" and they can take the vehicle right now "as is". I'm looking at another 1,000$ - 1,200$ to maybe have a decent vehicle as well to paying off the loan? When I have already put 1,000$ of my own money in accordance to paying 430$, a month on a loan, or 3010$ total over 6 months to it. That is just asinine and unrealistic. I have never been late on payments, set up a automatic withdrawal and pay for an extended warranty. I have paid both the loan and fixed the constant issues. This is 8 consecutive months of issues with the vehicle. I refused to pay any longer on the vehicle in repairs. I deserve an opportunity to have a safe, reliable, and once I awhile maintenance issue with my vehicle. I should be able to get to work and not every other week ask my boss if I can come in late because my car is messed up. Thus losing hours, thus not able to pay the loan, because I can't get to work. I digress, It's baffling that neither one of the representatives couldn't call, but importantly Julie who couldn't stick with her word.
In fact, I have more issues with what Julie has and has failed to uttered. Even though Julie (07-29-2015) said "... if you have any other issues that you just contact me directly" which as been done on 3 occasions and I have had no response back from her to the date of this letter being submitted. The last message I have from her is on August 12th which say says "...but as far as the, still hearing the noises, the power steering fluid that's still leaking, if your still experiencing that, lets have you take back into the shop. Of course car hop will pay to have those two diagnosed if there is a charge and umm we can certainly go from there to see what we can do to assist you with the noises that are still going one when your turning and power steering fluid that's leaking. so just give me a call back at your convenience, or when you take it in..."(Julie, 2015)
As you can see, I was told If have any issues, to call Julie and if it was related to the previous work that it would be taken care of, or they would explore their options (Julie, 07-29-15). I don't see how anyone in their right mind would think that this was ethical. I mean to have and individual have 8 months of consecutive issues with a vehicle should easily be seen problematic. Not exploring the possibility of I don't know, swapping to a different vehicle. A thought of maybe, assist them with more than a few issues after all they have always been on time with paying on the loan, which in turn pays for the company and it workers. More importantly keeping the person which turns into people/customer happy. I mean the motto "the customer is always right" is popular for a reason and why many successful companies understand this foundational fact.
I demand that this predatory loan be relinquish, that Car Hop take the car as is and we both go our separate ways."

Told Mr [redacted] that he may contact Revdex.com to have complaint re-opened, if any issues with this.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/05) */
Received business response via e-mail to Revdex.com:
"RE: Ms. [redacted]
File No: [redacted]
Thank you for forwarding the complaint from Ms. [redacted]. Although it is unfortunate
when any of our customers has mechanical issues,...

unforeseen problems do sometimes occur with
used vehicles. Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] purchased their vehicle on October 1, 2015.
The purchase included both a seven day Satisfaction Guarantee and an 18 month / 18,000 mile limited warranty, which covers major internal engine and internal transmission components, as well as the drive train. The vehicle passed all State required inspections, as well as having a clean and clear Experian Auto Check prior to its sale.
I spoke with Ms. [redacted] on December 22, 2015 and advised that CarHop will pay to have the
repairs completed at no cost to her. Ms. [redacted] stated that she is satisfied with this result. I
encourage Ms. [redacted] to contact me at the number below if she should have any further
questions or concerns.
Please contact me if I may be of further assistance. Thank You.
Sincerely,
Julie [redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/01/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
im still not happy because the air conditioner being fixed included freeon being part of the job and after all ice went thru just to get tbem to honor their promise to fix ac and the horrible way that ashley from nevada store treated me and my husband I sbould get freeon added at day of service.I mean its part of havingthe ac fixed and how am I to know its going to worm if they arent adding the freeon .wby am I havi.g to pay for the freeon .this is just more bullcrap from carhop!i eish I would have never done buisness their and dont reccomend anyone purchasing a car their.I feel im having to settle with their crap .all because I cant make them do whats right by the customer.so ya they arent really doing whats right I paid ten grand for a vehicle when all said and done and they will not put freeon in the ac when its replaced because they are too. cheap and look at all I went thru just to get them to fix what they promised when I bought vehicle .horrible customer service and yet I get notbing for being treated like st

I am rejecting this response because: I have had problems with this vehicle since I purchased it. This company assured me time after time that they would fix the problem. After riding the bus for two hours there an home to pay a car note because of threatening calls to just pay then they will take care of the problem so I paid an they still refused to fix it until filing a complaint. I am no longer in position of the vehicle an I hope that I can get my down payment in order to look for a good car company. I no longer want the car. Can you please help me I'm a single parent with 4 kids.
