ADT, bait and switch Read the agreement before signing anything!!! We have been Monitronics customers for over years without a contract They recently were acquired by Brinks We called to cancel June 8, 2018, and were told we would have to sign papers to confirm We received these by email and returned them June We were charged nearly a full month ($vs $54) on June I called to complain and was told this was company policy I received nothing in writing about this policy when Brinks acquired Monitronics The wait time on the phone was lengthy Charging customers for services not rendered seems highly unethical to me Even my cable company doesn't do this!

This is what I sent to ADTSir/Ma'am, I'm a little annoyed at you asking for a review of your services for the installation of my "new" ADT wireless security system Work began Nov 30, and is not completed! The young lady who sold me the "wireless" system stated that two more keypads would be installed at my front door and my bedroom The temporary keypad on my back door is awkward in that it does not sit next to the door, it's on the microwave When I open the front door, I have to race through the house to access the garage keypad or the backdoor keypad on the microwave to turn the system off I did pay for the extra keypads which sit in boxes in my utility room When the keypad on the microwave was sitting next to my bed it would not operate because it was too far from the main keypad in the utility room next to the garage door So the technician couldn't figure out what was wrong and I suggested it was too far from the main keypad and you may need a repeater to boost the signal strength to reach the main keypad Another thought I had (after she left) was to move the main keypad next to the front door which would be at the center of the house and thus the signal strength may be able to reach all positions in the house I'd planned to suggest this idea to the other techs that were supposed to pull power to the other keypads, but I have not heard from anyone I've already received the bill for next month of $and set it up on my bank account If this is the level of service you are providing I think you should come get your equipment and I'll look for another company to provide my home security needs I compared several companies and was impressed by your "A+" rating by the Revdex.com and selected ADT over the othersI'm also worried that in order to put power into the keypads the techs are going to cut new holes in my walls, I hope this is not the case I was also informed that my original system installed by ADT was too old and not compatible to the "new" wireless system so new door and window sensors were put in all over my house Compatibility with the old system was another reason I picked ADT, guess that was a bust
Just tried to contact ADT customer support and NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE THE automated system said it was putting me through to an agent but all I got were "beeps" Lord knows if something was WRONG!!! COME GET THIS EQUIPMENT!!! YOU FAILED THE CONTRACT!!!

Made multiple requests for certification of monitoring for insurance purposes, but repeated calls did not result in such a document

09/15/Called Cust Svc for help with my account and specified I need this escalated Instead of sending me to a manager, they sent me to client retention I asked to speak with a manager, was placed on hold for minutes!! No once ever came on the line I called back and talked to the cust svc rep and explained my dissatisfaction I have had ADT for years and within the last 5-months my service has not worked properly During that time - they've sent out 5-techs on alternate occasions and either they couldn't fix it, or they temporarily fixed it for only a few hours just to have the same problem come back I upgraded my account prior to these issues to their newer 'Pulse' product and this has not worked since day I have paid for a product/service for nearly months that has never worked properly As this cannot seemed to be fixed by the company I called to see what alterna

NEVER EVER use ADT! They are incompetent, dishonest, and will take your money for doing nothing We have had a disastrous experience with them and have filed a complaint with Revdex.com and NY StateWe gave them nearly $as a deposit to begin installation of a complete security system (locks, cameras, alarms)It took them months to get someone to start the work, and then the people they sent (we found out later were all subcontractors) had no idea how to do the work, brought broken and defective equipment, were never able to install locks even after many visits by locksmiths, and often kept us waiting for hours for people who came late or never showed up at allThe stress of living in NYC without locks on our doors was incredibleWe called and called, talked to schedulers, sales reps, supervisors, were kept on hold for hoursWe finally gave up on them, bought our own locks and had them installed by a local locksmithNo other security system working at this timeIt has taken us weeks to cancel our service with ADT (they make it nearly impossible to cancel), again lots of calls on hold for hours, and now ADT is refusing to refund us the nearly $we paid for service and equipment we never receivedADT should be put out of businessThey are de-frauding customersSomething is deeply wrong with this companyYou can install your own security system-- and save yourself a lot of stress and loss of money

Two different salesman used unethical tactics to sell products and services at our residence
We recently purchased a homeAt 8:30pm, at the end of a long moving day, an ADT salesman arrived at our door and told our teenaged son's girlfriend he was there to "follow up on closing." When I went to greet him, he made it sound like he was working with the mortgage company, asked for entry into the home, and then attempted to use scare tactics and "one day only" attempts to gain our business, despite the fact my husband repeatedly told him it was not a good timeWe were still carrying in boxes and trying to warm up dinner for hungry family members
A few weeks later, another sales drove up in front of our home at 8:30pm, walked to the door, and told us he was in the area upgrading systemsWhen my husband told him we already had a security system being installed through another recommended company, he proceeded to question us, and then argue, even though we told him we had no interes

Continual calls after being asked to be removed from list
I contacted ADT through their online chat a week ago requesting basic information about their home security services During this chat I informed them that I do not have a date set for services and did not know when I would start I also informed them that I did not want to speak to a sales rep to set up any services at this time The chat personnel continued to push for a date to bring in an ADT installer After this chat ended I began receiving calls, at least per day from XXX-XXX-XXXX, when I did not pick up they did not leave voice mails I finally picked up on 10/27/and requested to be removed, stating the same thing I said to the online rep I was informed that I would be removed from their list asap and that a note would be made that I would call them if I wanted assistance Sure enough I received another call the next day This time the left a second blank voicemail When I called back the rep I spoke t

Horrible experience with this company since system was installed weeks ago!
- Installer didn't properly connect carbon monoxide detectors as a signal wasn't being sent to monitoring station or ADT pulse
- Installer didn't provide ADT monitoring our phone number and phone password to call us if an alarm sounded
- Technician that was dispatched to trouble shoot carbon monoxide signal didn't put system in test modeADT couldn't call us as installer hadn't provided correct phone # to monitoring stationPolice showed up
- Spent hours on phone with ADT and Defender requesting to cancel monitoring contractCustomer service on both sides was useless and they kept point the finger of blame at each otherI was ultimately threatened with collection action if I didn't continue to pay monthly fee for this incompetence
Do yourself a favor and find a security firm that is competent, professional and customer serviced orientedADT and Defender are a joke

Company demanding day notice of cancellation at end of contract without notifying customers that contract is due to expire
I purchased a home in *** ** in and contacted ADT for a system based on an advertisement for approximately $20/month monitoring service and an equipment package that included features I wanted, including a camera, carbon monoxide monitoring, and entry point sensors My spouse had also previously used an ADT system and was pleased with the service I was also under the impression from the ad that it would include a year contract When the technician arrived, we were informed that ADT has changed to wireless, battery powered sensors, which was a concern, but we were assured that the battery life in each component would exceed the duration of the contract and if we chose to renew at that point, we could get a whole new system When the installation was complete, I was informed that the monitoring that included the video features and all the equipm
