I had to give a star to review, if I had an option, it would be no stars.
Per phone conversation with an ADT representation, the installer will go over a risk assessment, agree on a program, and then install the system. The installed did none of those and disassembled our current non-functioning system and installed the system. After installing proceeds to tell us that the monthly fee is not $27.99 a month but $53 a month. We did not agree to that month price and told them we didn't want the system installed. The installer took the system out and left our current monitor device in pieces on our counter and proceeds to tell my wife that he its not his place to re-install that device. He should of never took it down to begin with. Just a plan to get in your house by stating one fee and turn around and charge more. Very upset with ADT and the installed they sent out, unprofessional and discourteous.
Protect your home- SWITCH & BATE. I recently contacted ADT security to enquire on installing a new security system. I was advised that it is $27.99/month for 36 months. I was scheduled for the install and within 2 days a technician from "protect your home" came into my home. He quickly went to work and installed a keypad in my home. He then came and told me that price is $59.99. I advised that I was quoted $27.99. He said that was not possible because I don't have a landline. I advised him that I already went over this with the customer service rep prior to setting up the appointment. I asked him to remove his equipment and leave because they were being deceptive. He took out the keypad and left a 5" hole in the wall. I asked him to fix it and he said he did not have "stucco" with him and got in his car and drove off. I called customer service and was unable to get any assistance. I now have a 5" hole in my wall. When I contacted ADT they advised that because he did not finish the work I am not a customer and they can't do anything. All while they have charged $117 on my credit card which posted as “ADT”. But when you call ADT corporate office they acknowledge that they have a lot of complains from Defender/protect your Home, they are a 3rd party company. That is absurd. It’s okay for a 3rd party vendors to use your name and destroy people’s home. ADT corporate is definitely part of this. They are quick to drill holes in your wall and take off running. Don't use them. Stay AWAY from this company. I would rate them 0 if that was an option. They need to be out of business.
I would give zero stars if possible. ADT Defenders lies to customers. They bill things incorrectly and confusing so customers do not understand. They employees installing ADT equipment are dishonest and do not charge based on agreement. They are late to appointments and do not value customers time. I initially called to understand by bill and was told they didnt understand and would get a call back. No call ever. They came to remove equipment and did not refund total due to a "discount" credit based on what I paid not on total. discount was a piece of equipment ADT said I was entitled to and was later used to refund less money. This is a scam and does not comply with what was discussed on install. How does equipment that is free end up resulting in a percentage of what is paid? I would never ever use ADT or Defenders as they are dishonest, do not value customers, are rude, late and overall a organization that will take advantage of customers. It is hard to believe they are a security company.
I would give no stars if it was an option! This company are crooks and all wasted hours of my time and told all lies! Shame on them to prey on people like this! On 8/14/18 defenders/Protect your home came out to my home on behalf of ADT and gave a quote for my security system I wanted. The tech name was Dave R. I was unhappy with the pricing he gave me and I told him when I spoke with ADT on Sunday they told me the pricing was cheaper then what he was telling me I had to pay. ATLEAST 4 or 5 times I told he could leave I wasn't interested in the system. Each time he would say he needed to talk to his manager and come back with another offer. I didn't want anymore offers I just wanted him to leave. His supervisor/Managers name was Rich. The last offer Dave came in the house and said he couldn't lower the plan from $53 a month for 36 months but his Manager Rich agreed to give me a visa gift card after 90 days for $500 to help offset the first year. In addition to this $500 gift card, they agreed to $100 gift card for signing up and another $100 gift card to a family member for a referral service. I accepted the offer because my math had my new monthly amount at around $33 per month which was more reasonable in what others were telling me they were paying for the same service. I told Dave I wanted this in writing before he left and to give it to my husband since I was not there. Dave told the same offer to my husband as well as my mother who was home. I got home and the first thing I did was ask my husband to see all the paperwork- SURPRISE nothing was in writing about the visa gift cards. I called ADT who told me to call Defenders and I spoke with Andrew. Andrew told me they don't offer anything like that. I asked him to call his tech Dave and the supervisor Rich..he put me on hold for about 5 minutes. When Andrew came back he told me he was on a conference call with both of them and they both said they didn't offer that to me. They lied directly to my mother, my husband and myself. Dave even repeated back to me what he was offering to me and told me he would put in writing and leave his phone number for any questions(which of course he did NOT). Andrew made no effort to fix this and was just as bad as the other 2 people from this company. I immediately had this service cancelled and I faxed over the paperwork. I am now waiting on them to come install the system and hope I am able to get the money I put out....They said they will refund it but I will not believe it until I see it. I also called ADT to let them know the type of company they have coming to customers homes that is a reflection of them. I can not say enough bad things about this company. The amount of LIES and TIME wasted is ridiculous, unfair and shameful that they do these things. SHAME ON DEFENDERS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY and I HOPE NO ONE ELSE GETS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE WAY DAVE R, RICH, and ANDREW TOOK ADVANTAGE OF MY FAMILY YESTERDAY! I am BEYOND DISGUSTED!
The technician(s) were extremely efficient, friendly & knowledgeable . They still need to return & install rear camera. We have used ADT exclusively for 25 years without a problem.
I just moved back to Wilmington NC July 31st, I had, who I thought was ADT, come out to install an alarm system from an ad I saw. they were promising the moon and stars. When I tried to call, I find out it is Defenders/ ADT. The doorbell camera didn’t work, we were told to give it 24 hours. What a joke. I was on the phone being transferred many times by very rude people. I ask that the system be removed. A “supervisor” appeared at my door an hour before they were due to remove that system. Well, again I was promised the moon... $300.00 in Visa cards and an extra 20% off. Plus we got their “personal” cell numbers to call anytime. What a joke. We called and left text messages but no reply. Still haven’t seen the 20% discount. They have changed the door bell camera and it still does not work and the system is having a hard time connecting with our IPhone 8. Of course it is the phones fault. Another service tech is due to come tomorrow! If I had another chance I would NOT choose this company. They will promise anything until your 3 days are up to reject the contract and then as usual you can’t get in touch with them. It was installed August 3rd and so far I have had 2 techs and a supervisor, 2 doorbell cameras and 2 alarm pads and they still do not work. Please don’t believe everything you read or hear. They also ran a hard copy check with equaifax which I was told ADT had a contract with equalifax and it would not go on my credit as a hard copy. Lie. It certainly did. I am sorry I ever got involved with this company.
RUN FROM THIS COMPANY...they did classic bait and switch when they installed the "wireless" system that was supposed to be a land line to get the $27 rate. The technician never said anything about the land line until the rate of $54 was on the contract. When I didn't sign they lowered the bill to $44 and sent a technician out to remove mobile access (something I had with Brinks). My tenant signed something for the technician but he never changed the system so the contract is still at $54...by hook or by crook they get you. NOT HAPPY!!!
CJ, the technician, was very professional and friendly. He took the time to describe the different options available to me and make sure I understood. There was a problem with AT & T for new customer set up when he began my installation. That caused my appointment to continue to a second and third day. CJ kept me posted about any progress or lack of progress being made. Should I add anything in the future to my system, I would welcome CJ back to my home to perform the work.
Deceptive come on for advertisement almost blew the deal, but the installer can't be blamed for that and I think we got the plan we wanted. The pulse app works as advertised,my wife and I believe it is a better way to go than the key fob.We are pleased with the system.
My husband and I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions before deciding on ADT. When speaking initially to customer service we were on the phone for about an hour and a half. My husband was very thorough in his questions about the system, reliability, outside cameras. The outside camera was the feature he was most excited about. We had to be transferred to a supervisor because the customer service representative was not able to answer all of my husbands questions. The supervisor did a wonderful job, answered all of my husbands questions and we were ready to have them come in and show us the equipment. That is how it was phrased, not an install but we will send a representative to show you the equipment. They also wanted $100 to hold the appointment. This irritated me and I was ready to hang up but my husband was interested and we were assured if we did not go through the installation that hundred dollars will be refunded. We signed up to look at the basic package. The supervisor added the three outside cameras as part of the basic package. When I received my confirmation email I looked and it did not state outside cameras. Again this was the feature my husband was most interested in. I called customer service was put through directly to a supervisor Who assured me he would be last person that I would have to speak to. I explained to him my concerns and he assured me that in looking at the credits and the way they were worded that indeed three outside cameras were included in the package. He also gave us a $100 gift card for our trouble.
The day of our appointment came and the technicians showed up right on time and were very friendly. They however we're prepared for an install not a presentation. This was my first concern. We looked at the packages and agreed that we would go with the basic package a keypad, door sensors, window sensor and the three outdoor cameras. When we mentioned the three outdoor cameras to the technicians they had a deer in the headlights look. They told us that the cameras for the outside were not available and hadn't been in quite a while. There was a concern about the housing and they sent it back to the manufacturer to be fixed. Told us that it would be about two months. My husband was very upset and was ready to cancel the installation. The technician was surprised that we had not been told. My problem is that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Either they were trying to trick us into purchasing a system without what we agreed upon or it was an honest mistake. The concerning part is that we made two phone calls to customer service about the outdoor cameras specifically mentioning outdoor cameras and no one at anytime said I'm sorry those aren't available right now. Very irritating. The technician during the length of our install talked to his supervisor probably three times. They did a walk around the house and came back with a package costing over $3000. Needless to say we were very surprised because we had not planned on spending any money that day. We were assured by customer service that no money would be spent other than the $100 we already given them. At the end of the day we had $300 install fee for the activation of the cameras and an unauthorized debit of the prorated month and one full month ahead payment of the system. That concern was a whole nother customer service call. We stuck with just the basic package and were given three inside cameras to make up for the three outside cameras. We were also given $300 in Visa gift cards to make up for the activation cost that we were not expecting. So far we are pleased with the system we have installed my suggestion would be to make sure that customer service knows what is available and what is not and know they will try to upsell you when they get to your house. The unavailability of the outdoor cameras were no surprise and I believe a deceitful tactic to get a sale. We stuck to what we had planned and may in time add different services to enhance our system but that will be later. Right now we are definitely secure.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. There practices are very shady. They did not have a physical contract for me to review upon installation. They would not let me cancel my contract based on Saturday being a business day. Even after they did not reveal all the terms of the contract and signed me up for a higher price than I was quoted over the phone. The company runs a credit check without clearly revealing this to the customer. My equipment was faulty when installed. It has been a nightmare dealing with this company's customer service department. They have not been willing to make amends on anything. ADT needs to diassociate themselves with this company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Sales representative, technician, and manger went above more to help me. With what I needed to make me feel safe and secure.
I would say I am very satisfied with the package that I received and the installation. The installer did a great job, He is a salesman as well as a installer. I hope the company sticks to their promises and with that being said I am thus very satisfied.
Protect Your Home is worthless, unprofessional, and deceitful, to the point of fraudulent. Every time I call, it's a different story. Their technician failed to tell me pertinent information about the service, I have been overcharged, I have had to sign THREE separate contracts, which they like to backdate to the date the contract was SUPPOSED to be signed. These people are unhelpful and demeaning when you contact customer service. They are trying to gauge you for your money and they don't care what they put you through in the process. I thought getting an alarm system would make me feel safer but honestly, it has been NOTHING BUT A PAIN SINCE SEPTEMBER 2017. I cannot WAIT until my contract is over and I can contract with a REPUTABLE and PROFESSIONAL company. DO NOT GO TO PROTECT YOUR HOME!!! THEY WILL STRESS YOU OUT FOR MONTHS AND THEN BOUNCE YOU AROUND FROM PERSON TO PERSON TO GET ANSWERS.
THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! If I could give zero stars I would. Biggest mistake I ever made, is calling this company. I reported ADT Defender Security to the Revdex.com. This company is a bunch of thieves and liars. I don't even know where to begin.
When I made my first call I had spoken with a sales person and supervisor Jordan J Employee #20689. We agreed on installing 1 indoor camera and 2 outdoor cameras, maybe 3. I called to reconfirm something and spoke with, I think Ervin employee #15798. He confirmed the exterior and interior cameras. London from Defenders came out to installed the cameras and system. He said they were out of stock of exteriors but will put in 4 interior cameras. I said no I will wait and he said okay. He will notify me when they are in stock. So the next day I call back to ask when the will have cameras in stock because my mom wants to get a system installed, they tell me they don't do outside cameras at all. It's been over a year!! I was so furious. I was lied to and scammed into signing a 3 year contract. They KNEW they couldn't provide me with what I want. I spoke with April employee #8180 the account service manager on July 9, 2018 said she was going to expedite my refund of $107 and $323 immediately. Almost 3 weeks later, NOTHING!! I've called and called and I get the complete run around. If I could cancel, I would. I will tell everyone to avoid this company.
This company lies and lies to you constantly. They fraudulently sign your name to a contract. Promise you things and dont deliver and refuse to put it in the contract or in writing. Dont trust this company and dont do business with a bunch of liars and forgers.
The process was very quick and easy, the installation man was very good at it his job and explained everything he was doing and how to use the system. Very happy with service.
The technician, Alex E (ID 6722252), was the best technician imaginable! We had been robbed earlier in the day, and Alex helped walk us through a system that would be both secure and affordable for our family. Beyond that he was extremely courteous, meticulous in installing the equipment, and he stayed until nearly 10 pm to complete the installation. It was an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend him as a phenomenal representative of ADT.
Rather than rehash what others have said about agressive sales tactics, poor equipment, service (noting that on 3 or more trips technicians were honest about stating the particular equipment, e.g. window sensor and smoke detector, they've had many problems with) and customer service....have a very important fact to add. They never discussed contract terms, presented a contract for signature, any details, OR even mailed a copy for signature, or at least my files. Instead that now I'm getting good help from ADP Corporate, after 3 phone sessions totaling over 5 hours! including a joint call with Defender, while attempting to cancel contract they want me to pay close to $1000 for to terminate, I've learned they are fraudulent. Reporting to local and state authorities. ADP supplied me the Defender contract copy, again that was never presented to me or discussed in any detail. While yes, certainly expected a term of committment for the deal which was still overpiced and monthly fee escalated without notice. But that's on the assumption it would work, we could get adequated service. A contract is 2 not 1 way. MIndblowing that they actually forged my initials and signature. That's fraud from your local "security" company!
We were blatantly lied to by the technician that came out. Our mother passed away so we wanted a short term contract on her home until it was sold. He said no problem the contract is transferable to the new owners.
Apparently not so. After many many hours on the phone with Defenders I had to pay the remainder of the contract and the new owners had to start a new one.
I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
