I have contacted Defenders 3 time to get a certificate for my insurance company. Each time I was told it would be sent before end of day. Still waiting 3 daydlater.
If all the other reviews have not turned you away. RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are within your three days get your money back. They make you pay for things that you are not told about prior and they nickle and dime you for everything. The first day I had several issues the technician signed for me and they did not make me aware of what was being signed he had an attitude the entire time and made several mistakes as far as installation and glue was everywhere. Then when I moved to my new home, over the phone they told me when I was moving to take my own equipment because they were going to replace it anyway. I moved atleast 50 minutes away from my old home and they day of the new installation they went to my old home to take down equipment and I was at my new home waiting on them to do the installation, they refused to leave and come to my home until they were let in my old home and I had all of the old equipment with me, they still wanted to get in and see what was there which again was nothing. So I had to drive 50+ minutes out of my way to let them in for 2 minutes and then drive all the way back another 50+ minutes. I then was charged twice a month for two different locations and I realized 2 months later and was on the phone for 5 hours back and forth between ADT and Defenders ( Protect Your Home, Authorized Premier Provider), I was then finally able to get someone who was willing to get me the proper refund that came two months later. I also was charged a S&H fee for a $100 gift card that took almost 4 months to get to me. I was then called about a permit now mind you I had paid the permit when it first got installed in my old home and they said I had to get another permit in my new home, didnt understand why, but I said okay. Then they called I asked for a bill in the mail because I wanted proof of the . I still have yet to receive the bill and they have now made my account inactive, they sent that in the mail but not my bill. I am livid to say the least. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are so many other things they have done but these are the biggest things that are happening right now.
The installers were very good, patient and professional. However, they were not able to install the key panels where I was expecting them to be installed, i.e., front door, garage door, and bedroom. Rather, the primary key panel had to be installed in an office (bedroom) upon my desk. The bedroom key pad in another desk model rather than a wall key pad. The garage door is mounted on the wall replacing my previous pad. So I now have two non-functioning wall pads (front door and bedroom). This was not what I anticipated and did cause us all (me and the installers) some discussion that I didn't think we deserved to have. Again, Michael and Winston were very professional throughout the installation and answers all my questions. I did tell them that I believe the policy should be for someone to come to the home, do an evaluation, and explain exactly where the new equipment will/can be placed so the customer will understand BEFORE the installation date is set. As for the system, we are very pleased to know that we are secure and feel safe.
The tech lied to me. They acknowledge the tech lied to me. They refuse to refund me. I've contacted the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.
I would not recommend this company. Defenders are not trustworthy. Absolutely disgusting scam and terrible customer service. ESS THAN a STAR! Worst customer service I have ever received. You are bound in the contract for 2 years and even if you move you still have to pay for it the 2 years that you signed for. Which I did not mind paying for it for 2 years, You have to pay for moving the services and basically the contract starts all over again!!! They are rip of! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My experience with ADT was very bad from the beginning. After somebody broke into my house while I was sleeping I found necessary to get a security system. The first company I called was ADT, because it was very well rated on the internet. Over the phone, the person I spoke with told me that the equipment is free and I will pay between $28 and $58 a month depending on how I customize my package, and the installation time will be around 2-3 hours. So based on what I heard I made an appointment, and I took 3 hours off from work to be home when they come to install it. After the technician came over, he looked over my house and he said that only the equipment will cost me around $3000 and the monthly fee will be $58. I went over everything he choose to install and got the equipment down to $800 which is still not free, not sure where the free equipment was coming from. In addition to that, the installation took almost 7 hours, so I had to call at work and take the whole day off. After having the equipment for over 1 week, I wasn't happy with 2 of the cameras and the doorbell camera and I decided to return them. When I made the appointment for a technician to come over they said he will come between 3-5pm and will take around 20 minutes. He came at 5:15 and took more than 1 hour. Before the technician left I asked him when I can find out what my monthly bill will be and how much refund I will get after returning the equipment and he said that I will receive an e-mail describing all these in about 1 hour. It has been a week and still haven't received anything. After 2 days I started to call ADT but nobody knew anything about the equipment returned and nobody was able to provide me any information's about my refund and my monthly bill. I tried every day for almost 1 week to get these information's without any success.
I don't think it can be worse than that. They only care about taking your money without providing anything in return, not even a correct information about what they sell and how much it costs.
I have decided to return all the equipment and close my contract with ADT but the problem is that they say that I can't cancel it. I don't understand why because the person who sold me the system said that I have 6 months money back warranted, and this is visible on ADT website as well.
I won't stop until my problem is solved.
We had an ADT system for a number of years and the sensors on one door stopped working . We called ADT to get an updated system. The tec/sales person came up with a price of 6000 to protect our home. We told them that that was to much so they keep cutting till they got down to 1300 and told us we would have the same protection as before. About 4 weeks after installation I noticed they had disconnected our older ADT smoke detectors and left us with no smoke dection. Contacted them and just got the run around they told us we had not paid for smoke dection. We were told we could cancel with in months when we brought that up they said 3 days. They left no paperwork on what we signed and was told it would be emailed well they never sent it till we called and complained. We had smoke detectors they disabled them. If you have not been took by these people run before it is to late.
I called Defender Security for my father since he's had several seizures. They said the only way they could confirm appointment was to have a credit card for $99.99, with taxes came to $105.00. I explained we only needed the basic package of $19.99 a month. When the technician came out, he explained to my father, that recently had seizures, that he needed several other features they offered, to a total of $3342.00. I never noticed the charge till 11-9-18 when I looked at my credit card statement. I called and asked who authorized this transaction and they said my father. I asked my father and he said the sales technician never allowed him to view documents and proceeded to initial sign my father's name in all marked spots. I called *** and explained the situation and they filed a dispute for the unauthorized charges. I called defender and asked why they used my credit card again and they said when I made the initial $99.99 appointment, they enter my card into their system to be used for any future purchases, without the cardholders knowledge. I said that I only have a $600 limit on my credit card and would have never made that careless of a decision. They kept saying my father signed the agreement, which made him fully responsible. Come to find out, the salesmen took whatever means he had to take advantage of an elderly couple.
The biggest problem with this company is that they don't disclose that they are an authorized dealer for ADT and not the real deal. They answer the phone as ADT and not as DEFENDERS so you have no way of checking their reviews, credentials, of Revdex.com standing. I felt strong-armed into getting the system by his "installer" Rudy ***, while all the time I thought I was dealing with ADT itself. He wanted me to sign blank documents on his iPad claiming he could not print them or modify them; however, he was able to produce a paper contract with the correct amount for monitoring that we had agreed on and not the amount on his iPad.
I asked that all papers signed and/or initialled by me on the iPad be emailed to me and lo and behold, there were blank papers with "my initials." The next day they charge my credit card account for a strange amount and the first monthly charge came in at a higher amount. Defenders is not an ethical company and ADT should cancel their contract with them. They give ADT a bad name.
I would not recommend this company. They lied about the package deal I would be getting for ADT home security. The package I was signing up for included 7 wireless sensors or 15 wired sensors, Two remotes, key pad, siren and two door sensors. It was also supposed to come with a $100 visa gift card. The technician that came up was super helpful and friendly but I was in for a surprise when I found out that the $25.99 a month package I thought I was getting wouldn't work for me and that I would need more sensors and then have to pay $54.99 a month due to not having a phone line. The package deal was not what they made it sound like. I ended up paying $300 more to get what was needed and then to top it off they didn't explain how the gift card works. I have to print out a forum send it in with a money order and also pay for shipping and handling. That does not give you back the $100 that was promised when I signed up. I called to complain about this and the ADT lady was very nice and said that she would have to transfer me over to Defenders who is promoting the gift card. The lady on the phone basically laughed at me cause I was complaining about not getting all the money and how I have to spend more money and take time out of my day to get the card. If I had known all this up front I would have chose another service. The costumer service is rude and they did not resolve anything for me. They hide information and then blamed it on the technician and said she should have told me about it. When I brought it up to her she was unaware of how I would be receiving said gift card. She was under the impression that ADT would be sending it not Defenders.
We had an excellent service technician to help install our ADT system. Installation did take much longer than I was told when I initially called. Technician was very thorough and did a great job.
I hired defenders to remove an old ADT system. The technician came out to INSTALL a NEW system. When I told him what I had hired Defenders AKA Protect Your Home for, he asked me to call the office and cancel the install and then he'd be able to remove the system. But when I did that, he said he wouldn't remove the system. He lied to me to protect his sales quota and then got angry at me when I confronted him. Defenders AKA Protect Your Home made a service appointment with me under false pretenses and then their technician stood in my home and lied to my face
Defender is a complete joke! You all have taken me for 1500$! Ive been told I would be refunded my $ and I was charged AGAIN today 505$ that I do not owe!!! I want my money back now! I have been patient your company has done nothing but given me the run around!!! I will not stop until im refunded. I will go to every damn news station and let this entire world know how you all handle business. You have been nothing but complete stress & nonsense from day 1! Do not trust these ppl they are a horrible company to work with they are theifs.
The technician that came to my home was exceptional. He addressed every question that I had, and treated my home as if it were his own. His attention to detail was second to none. My recommendation would be to retain and promote.
Defenders is not trustworthy. When you speak to a representative on the phone they always say you should talk to technician and his manager. Technician is always nice but lies and gives incorrect information. If I had known that I was not dealing with ADT but some random installation company I would have never gone ahead with them. They usually offer you a big credit towards equipment which they say will cover most of the equipment but it hardly covers some basic stuff. Customer service doesn't take responsibility for anything that happens to your account and blame it on technician. Be careful of this company.
I responded to a flyer I received in the mail for $27.99 monthly monitoring, a wireless system and free equipment. What I got was far from that. I called and they said they were going to give me $1200 of free equipment, but it was $100 for installation. When they showed up to do the install, the technician immediately replaced my keypad with an ADT keypad and replaced the power source in the garage. Then we walk around the house to determine what was needed and then the sales pitch was on!! Basically, the $1200 of free equipment wouldn't protect my home as much as what I already had with ***. After 3 or 4 rounds with the technician who originally said I needed an additional $3200 of equipment, we settled at $800 in additional equipment. Then I was told that the $27.99/month monitoring was for a land line only and they wouldn't warranty any of the equipment. To get the wireless system that was advertised and warranty protection on the equipment, it was $52.99/month monitoring. This was a TOTAL SCAM and deceptive sales practice. If I could give a ZERO rating, I would. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General as well.
Sales rep was great and so was instillation. only down side was the tech drilled holes to mount control panel but didn't clean up the residue. Carrying a small hand vac would do the trick.
I really wish I would’ve came to Revdex.com before going ahead with Defenders. Love ADT and the product? But just like several other people, I wanted to cancel last minute, was told ok we will reduce your rate to $36.99, and give you 2 $100 Visa cards, after thinking on it, I said ok I can work with this price and will go ahead with it. Technician got her, was great, they got half of the items installed, then pulled out the contract for me to sign and said $52.99. I said, I was told $36.99. He said that it will be changed in the office later if that’s what they told you. Fast forward a month later, I was charged the $52.99. I call in and they keep telling me they will not honor what I was told and they have a paper contract saying I agreed to it. Absolutely disgusting scam and terrible customer service.
LESS THAN a STAR! Worst customer service I have EVERreceived.
Defenders/ Protect your home - Is a company to stay away from. I am still surprised that ADT still does business with them, as there several complaint against them. Defenders are just SCAMMERS whoe used ADT and cheat people.
