I called ADT back in September of last year to inquire about serviceApparently ADT contracts with Defenders which is how I ended up with themAfter going over prices with them they said they would need to run a credit checkI explained to them I understood but that I was buying a truck in the next few days so I could not afford an inquiry on my credit until after I bought the truckI said I would need to call backThe girl I was speaking with transferred me to a managerI explained my situation to him also and said I did not mind calling back.He said he would go ahead and get things scheduled without doing a hard inquiry on my creditHe lied to meThey did an inquiry and as I had explained to them would happen my credit rating went from "good" to "fair" as it was just on the brinkI was so upsetI called the company and spoke to several very rude people on the phone who did not believe me and said someone would get back to me in several daysI kept calling and was repeatedl
Received no notice that there was a problem running a charge on our credit card to pay the monthly fee until we found out they had cancelled our service and turned it over to a collection agencyHave been unresponsive to try and resolve this issue
We contacted ADT to install a security system based upon a promotion for a month After receipt of our first bill we discovered that it was not ADT that did the install, but a subcontractor During conversations we were very clear that we could only afford the promotional monthly charge, not the we were actually billed When we called to inquire on the incorrect charge, we were informed we signed a year contract with Defenders for that price and if we wanted to cancel we owed them thousands of dollars Their business practices lack transparency and intentionally mislead us They wrote the on our pamphlet and asked that we sign their tablet acknowledging the install was complete Evidently that was the contract, not acknowledgement of completion We also were clear ininital conversations that we were not interested in anything over the promo value, evidently that is not even a real service Unless you have a landline and don’t want it monitored I am not sur
I was led to believe I was dealing with ADTI bought a ADT alarm system back in and wanted to update my alarm systemI received a brochure in the mail that advertised ADT Alarm systems, called them set up a appointmentThey came out told me I needed to replace everything which I did in December of I did not realize it was with the company DefenderI bought the alarm system for the sole purpose of having outside camera'sThey installed one and had to come back and install the second one three weeks laterDuring the three weeks in-between the one camera they installed went out of service more then it worked So when they came back to install the second camera I told them no and wanted my money back for both camera'sThey told me I couldn't do that but I could use the difference for alarm devicesI did this
Now that it is June I seen that that ADT has different outside camera's so I called to order it and a Doorbell CameraI was told they don't do outside camera'
On July 5, 2018, Jason, a service technician from Protect your Home/ Defenders, installed my ADT alarm systemOn July 9, , I contacted the company and faxed over a cancellation request cancelling the service because the price was high At this time, Defenders had deducted $for installation and another $for prorated monthly service fees from my bank account On July 23, 2018, I called both companies to find out what was going onADT advised that Defenders will have to cancel it on their end but the would refund the monthly service feesTo date I have not received that creditDefenders agreed to come out July 26,and remove the equipmentOn Thursday, July 26th, Walter, Jason's supervisor from Defenders, contacted me to offer me a lower rate for a lower serviceI agreed Jason from Defenders arrived around noon that day and began changing the serviceHe was now routing the monitoring service calls through my landline instead of my cell phonePrior to h
I contacted Defenders (ADT) to assess if I could get a home security system with them under $and I told them clearly I did not possess a landline and would not have one, but I had *** internet I also contacted several other companies as well, but I have been a customer of ADT for years previously, so I gave them priority
They assured me that I could but that they would have to install the system in two steps I spoke to a lady named Kimberley who told me they would come out and install the system completely free on a cellular network temporarily and then I could call another installer to come out after that to downgrade it to a Voice over internet Protocol (VOIP) that I wanted using my *** service, because my *** service was new and the line hadn't even been buried yet in the yard The final bill was going to be $or $monthly once they got it connected to *** on a month contract I would have to agree to pay part of the cellular monthly fee
I received an unsolicited offer to purchase an ADT alarm system via emailI called and spoke with a representative of the company Protect Your Home, At the time I did not realize that I was not dealing with ADT directlyI explained to the rep on the phone that I was ONLY interested in the service for $a month with the $installation feeI was told that the fee was for customers with a landline and when I told the rep that I did not have a landline I was told that because I had *** *** with internet service that the installation could be made and I would be charged $a month I asked multiple times to confirm this over the phone and was assured that was the case When the installer arrived I told him about the terms that I agreed to and reiterated those terms as he ***empted to sell me additional productsI clearly indicated to him that I was only interested in sending the $a month and covering the $installation because that is all that I can accommodate

On 5/31/a representative from Defenders came to our home to remove the equipment However, offered us a different package and subsequently removed a substantial amount of equipment At this time, he offered us a 50% discount which made our new total investment $before taxes

We called to order a package from a flyer we sawThe tech came and installed and AFTER he installed he said that it wasnt the package we orderedBut he didnt have time to uninstallSo we called and they waited weeks to come get itIn the meantime, we didnt know that they would not be bringing back our original equipment, so when they came we had my sister here for them to uninstallMy dad had passed and we went out of town for the funeralWhen we got back we see the keypad and motion detector that we originally had was not back on the wallSo we call to tell them that they did not bring it back and they argued that they never took itSo we asked the original installer Robert Harper, where he put he put itHe told us and we looked in those places and its not thereWe looked everywhere, but gave him the benefit of the doubt and looked againSo even after that, they still refused to take responsibility and replace our equipmen
