Executive Office.  As the liaison in this
office that is familiar with your file and has previously responded, I was
asked to review and respond on behalf of Department Stores National Bank. 
 
As previously explained, it
is our policy not to remove any delinquency from a credit report, unless it
occurred as a result of a billing or bank error.  I have confirmed that no billing or bank
error occurred; therefore, we are unable to remove the delinquency from [redacted] credit report.

indicate when we were alerted to the fraudulent activity on your account on July
23, 2015, we placed the amount in dispute and issued you a new card.  On the same day, our Fraud Department started
their investigation process.  On October
19, 2015, they completed their investigation and removed the $1,240.92 charge
from your account and the associated interest of $108.01.  As of the date of this letter, your account
balance is $402.77, which reflects the undisputed charges on your account.

not Macy’s practice to compensate for a situation such as this; therefore, I
must decline your request for a $100.00 gift card. Thank you for bringing this to our attention

for your purchases in October 2015. 
Going forward, when using your Macy’s account, your points will be
automatically calculated to your rewards program.  When using your Plenti rewards program with

are in receipt of your complaint filed with the Revdex.com that was
forwarded to Macy’s Executive Office for review.  As a liaison in that office, I was asked to
respond on behalf of Department Stores National Bank. We sincerely regret any
frustration you may have experienced concerning the Macys.com purchase billed
to your Macy’s account referenced above and for any problems you encountered
while attempting to resolve this issue.
 
Upon
examining your fraud claim, we found that the disputed online purchase of $63.54
was shipped to a different name and address from the one listed on your
account.  We removed the $63.54
fraudulent charge, as well as the interest charges and late fees applied to the
account because of this matter.  These
adjustments brought your Macy’s account to a credit balance of $79.14.  Since your account is closed, I have taken the
liberty of refunding this amount to you in the form of a check that you will
receive (under separate cover) in approximately 7 to 10 days from the date of
this letter.  No information of a
derogatory nature was reported to any credit bureau concerning this matter.

opportunity to resolve the issue for you.  I am very sorry you chose to close your Macy’s
account because of this situation and I also apologize for the delay in
clearing the fraudulent charge and resulting fees.  Your business is important to us and we
appreciate having your continued loyalty. 
Therefore, I hope you will accept the enclosed $50.00 in Macy’s Money
certificates to use on a future shopping trip.

  I am in receipt of your complaint filed with the Revdex.com, which was forwarded to Macy’s Executive Office.  As a liaison in this office, I was asked to review and respond to your concerns on behalf of Department Stores National Bank.   Our records indicate you opened the above referenced account in January 2007, and during the first month of the account opening, you made purchases totaling $202.00 and paid the balance off the next month.  We show no record of any account activity after this date.  If an account holder has not used their account for two or more years, our policy is to consider the account inactive and either reduce the credit line or close the account.   Our records show your account’s credit limit was reduced to $100.00 in June of 2009; therefore, any attempts to charge a transaction after this date over credit limit amount were likely unsuccessful.    We show no record of reporting any delinquent information to the credit reporting agencies.  In fact, upon official inquiry with [redacted], I found your account has either reported as current or with a zero balance.  Please be advised that we have no control as to how the credit reporting agencies interpret the information we furnish to them.  We must report the account accurately to the credit reporting agencies, whether it is favorable or unfavorable to the consumer.   Your account was closed on September 4, 2014, due to inactivity and we are unable to re-open the account as you requested.  Under federal law, in order to extend credit to a consumer we must determine the applicant’s ability to repay additional debt. This is accomplished by reviewing annual income information as well as existing credit obligations and credit worthiness through a review of your credit report.  In order to review your creditworthiness for consideration of a Macy’s card, we must ask you to submit a new account application.   We are pleased to learn of your interest in the Macy’s Card, and encourage you to re-apply in any Macy’s store or on macys.com.
