H & R Block Inc., U.S. Headquarters Reviews (1579)

Dear Revdex.com,I have personally had the pleasure of assisting Mr. [redacted] with resolving this matter. Mr. [redacted] was using our H&R Block DIY online filing service. In resolution to this matter, we provided Mr. [redacted] with a free filing of his 2016 tax return for his...

inconvenience and also will be providing Mr. [redacted] with a free 2017 online filing product as well. Upon completion of his 2016 return, we also assisted him with issues he had printing his return. As a result, we consider this matter resolved. We assure you that we take the concerns of our clients seriously and make every effort to resolve matters thoroughly and fairly. We respectfully ask the Revdex.com to close this case. However, if you should need anything further or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Sincerely, [redacted]Associate Business Analyst H&R Block

Dear Revdex.com,   While we sincerely regret Mrs. [redacted]’s dissatisfaction with our service pricing, we find our fees to be reasonable and highly competitive among tax institutions. H&R Block has knowledgeable tax professionals and has several gua[redacted]ees that come with the tax...

preparation that many other institutions or accountants do not offer. Additionally, H&R Block fees are based on the number and complexity of the forms used and for the service that is provided.   As it relates to this situation, our records reflect that Franchisee, Pamela A[redacted], attempted to contact Mrs. [redacted] several times to provide a full explanation of the fees that were charged to prepare her 2017 return, but was unsuccessful. Mrs. [redacted] did leave two voicemail's. A comparative review of the tax preparation fees assessed in 2016 and 2017 took place as well. In review of this comparison, our records show that the return had 1099R (2 items), 1045 A- Net Operating Loss, and 1045A Election to Forego Carryback, which were items that were not on last year’s return, thus explaining the  increase in cost.   The only matter of concern to Franchisee Pamela A[redacted], was that Mrs. [redacted] was charged for itemizing on Hawaii when it was not necessary, due to her negative AGI. The cost of that for this year is $55.00. As a client service gesture, we are sending Mrs. [redacted] a $100 coupon for next year, for the overcharge of $55 plus an additional $45 for lack of tax professional oversight regarding a detailed explanation of differences year over year. Sincerely,   Destini C[redacted] Associate Business Analyst H&R Block

Dear Revdex.com,H&R Block disagrees with Ms. [redacted]'s allegations. Our investigation reflect that Ms. [redacted] was advised in advance by The Office Leader that taking the tax return to a different office is a normal process when a specific tax professional is required to complete the...

return and most frequently is as a result of the [redacted] state registration requirements for tax professionals. Additionally, we refute Ms. [redacted]'s statement that her taxes were done wrong, as our records reflect that issue on the return was that it required a [redacted] address, which was not provided at the time of preparation. The delay with submitting the [redacted] return resulted in awaiting return calls from Ms. [redacted] to get the [redacted] address needed for the return, which was obtained on the second attempt to contact Ms. [redacted]. In effort to make amends and as a gesture of good faith for any inconvenience, we have refunded $100.00 of tax preparation fees to Ms. [redacted] and the check was sent on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. While we sincerely regret that Ms. [redacted] is dissatisfied with our services, H&R Block's tax preparation work was correct based on the information Ms. [redacted] provided at during the tax preparation interview. In light of H&R Block's above-referenced good-faith actions to resolve this matter, we respectfully request that this case be closed. However, should you have additional questions or desire to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely,[redacted]Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Dear Revdex.com,In response to this matter, our investigation reflects that Ms. [redacted]'s complaint is against a franchise office, which has the responsibility to resolve this matter directly with your office and directly with the client. While we sincerely regret Ms....

[redacted]'s dissatisfaction with our service pricing, we find our fees to be reasonable and highly competitive among tax institutions. H&R Block has knowledgeable tax professionals and has several guarantees that come with the tax preparation that many other institutions or accountants do not offer. Additioanlly, H&R Block fees are based on the number and complexity of the forms used and for the service that is provided. As it related to this situation, our records reflect that Franchisee, [redacted], contacted Ms. [redacted] to offer a free amended return in a good faith effort to make amends. It is my understand that Ms [redacted] has not made a decision regarding the offer. If she wishes to accept the free amended return to add a W-2 to her return, she is welcome to visit the office at 200 S Best Avenue, [redacted], ** [redacted].We assure you that we take the concerns of our clients seriously and make every effort to resolve matters thoroughly and fairly. Sincerely,[redacted]Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Dear Revdex.com:
While we sincerely regret Ms. [redacted]'s tax preparation experience, our records further reflect that a check for penalties and interest was processed as of October 9, 2014. As a result the Franchisee considers this matter resolved.
We respectfully ask the Revdex.com to close this case. However, if you should have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:

On 12 February 2015, I filed
both State and Federal income taxes with H&R Block in [redacted], [redacted].After about 29 days of waiting,
I called the [redacted] Department of Revenue to inquire about my refund. I was
told that they needed my W2’s or 1099R’s to complete the filing of my taxes as they
did not receive them from H&R Block.I explained to her that my
[redacted] refund could not be finalized because they did not receive my W2’s or
1099R’s to complete my taxes.
I am retired and most of my
statements are 1099R’s.
She stated that she would check
on it. Later when she called me back, she then told me that I had to do this myself
as it was not their job. She was very rude and belligerent about the matter. This is the third time that I have demonstrated their error, however they do not seem to understand the complaint nor do they wish to.
It seems like H & R Block is not sincere in trying to resolve this matter. I would like to file formal complaint against this company and post it on your website that this is a bad company.
Regards,
[redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,  In resolution of this matter, H&R Block is currently in the process of assisting Ms. [redacted]. We will continue to correspond with Ms. [redacted] in attempts to reach a mutually acceptable resolution. We ask that the Bureau note our current efforts to resolve...

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Assumed Answered]As noted from H&R Block to Revdex.com a check refunding the tax preparation fee for 2013 taxes was sent on June 3, 2016. As of today, June 13, 2016 I have not received the refund check. I cannot accept their resolution until the refund check arrives.

Dear Revdex.com,In resolution to this compliant, our record reflects that Mr. [redacted]’s 2013 tax return preparation fees that he requested to be deducted from his federal tax refund has not been paid and is therefore considered debt. Our records reflect that the Internal Revenue Service...

(IRS) did not release Mr. [redacted]’s 2013 tax refund to the Refund Account setup to deduct his fees. As a result, the fees owed to H&R Block were not paid.  We understand that there may be several reasons why this occurred, including: (i) The client’s federal tax refund may have been diverted by the IRS to repay unpaid federal/state income taxes, child support, and/or student loan debt. (ii) The IRS may have sent the federal tax refund directly to our client, instead of depositing the funds into the Refund Account. (iii) The IRS may have delayed the processing of our client’s tax return. (iv)The IRS may have reduced our client’s expected tax refund amount. Please be advised that Mr. [redacted] did not return to H&R Block in 2015 to have his 2014 tax return prepared. However, when Mr. [redacted] returned this year to H&R Block we prepared his 2015 tax return. As of date, fees associated with the 2015 tax return remains unpaid. Per the terms of the Federal Refund Anticipation Check (“RAC”), our client agreed to pay the fees immediately in the event that fees remain unpaid for a period of 21 days from the IRS accepting the tax returns. Additionally note that during the preparation of Mr. [redacted]’s 2015 tax return, he was reminded by his tax professional of a prior year 2013 debt to which he did not agree. Mr. [redacted] had the opportunity at that time to dispute the debt by filing out the necessary dispute form but he declined. We regret any misunderstandings that Mr. [redacted] has as it relates to our tax preparation service. However, the fact remains that we have provided a service that involved the preparation of two tax returns that have not been paid. We assure you that we take the concerns of our clients seriously and make every effort to resolve matters thoroughly and fairly. If you should need anything further or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Quintina M[redacted]Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I have proof that I have prepared my tax return with H&R Block every year since 2008. I tried to contact the same office where I prepared my tax return for 2010 and 2011 years but they said that due to a system migration, it was no longer available in the system. At that time I was told that all hard copies were moved to another facility.H&R Block still have a copy of my 2010 tax return but they are refusing to provide it since it will require some work to locate it. How are consumers or tax payers supposed to use their services if information will get lost? It is H&R Block responsibility to provide me a copy of my 2010 tax return. I do have a full copy of my 2011 tax return and a receipt only of my 2010 tax return. If proof is what's needed, I can provide.

Dear Revdex.com,While we understand that Ms. [redacted] is stating she provided the notice to Ms. [redacted], Ms. [redacted] was not her tax professional.  At this time the Franchise owner, Mr. [redacted], is attempting to assist the best he can and is happy to do so. We understand that Ms. [redacted] believes the office had a copy of the notice but at this time, no copy can be found. We again ask that Ms. [redacted] contact the Franchise owner, Mr. [redacted], to provide the notice directly to him to have this matter resolved as timely as possible.
